I typically prefer a more natural jam like filling to in the jelly donut, and this is a little artificial tasting. But i love the glaze raspberry filled anyway. Very cute and small donut shop off of Charlestown. While there is construction currently as of October 30, the shop is still pretty easy to access. We ordered an assortment of donut types and were left very impressed. As a donut snob these were some of the best crumble and cake donuts I've had. The woman behind the counter when went in was incredibly friendly and more than happy to help us as we picked quite a few different types of donut. They are now a regular stop for us on the weekend. read more

It's been almost a month since I had my first Poppy donut and I've been jones'n for another ever since. Today I rewarded myself with a visit to the mothership! Jasmine greeted me and promptly provided excellent information and service. I copped two cinnamon (small), a crumb, a Halloween sprinkle (GF), and two glazed. OMG. The glazed are a good as the famous Eastside donut shop! And the cinnamon was delicious. Crumb is definitely win! 6 donuts $10. Plenty of lot parking! read more

I was kinda/sorta close by so I legged it over here. Traffic is a nightmare - ongoing roadwork where Charleston is open only halfway (eastbound Charleston closed, only westbound lanes open). Two lanes going east, two lanes going west. Once inside, was greeted instantly (I was the only customer at the time) and I picked 12 donuts, including two of their famous apple fritters. Also got a 6 pack of the donut holes - although I asked for a dozen. Got the usual - buttermilk bars, old fashioned, etc. I've only tried the donut holes so far, but the husband, after sampling 3 - 4 of the donuts, deemed it to be "darn good." Not the closest donut shop to me, but will make it a point to go there should I find myself in the 'hood. read more

The Best neighborhood Donut shop! As a Texas transplant to find Kolaches locally is rare!! They are so tasty! They also have ham and cheese croissants which is also nostalgic for me. Meh. The female EMO cashier is unhelpful, grouchy and seems to not want to be there. Maybe because her son is in the 'kitchen' area watching TV? When customer service is a big focus these days you should really step it up. If everyone knows you hate your job and/or life it is time for a career change. We walked in and the line is a hot mess. You have to walk in front of paying customers to get food. This is a bad setup and irritates people because they think you are cutting in line. The place was dead quiet. You know how most nice doughnut shops have chill music or hipster music? NOT HERE. Just chilling dead silence. We bought 4 doughnuts because they were really hyped up in reviews. They were noting special. Regular, plain doughnuts. Not fresh. Not stale. They weren't greasy so I gave one star. The flavors weren't good or bad. Everything was just kinda ok. Not memorable and not worth the price and def not worth coming back. The bathroom is a bummer. You need a code. The rude lady will yell it to you. It is right in the center of the dining area which again is super quiet. Uncomfortable. And she pays no attention to who is in the shop so she very well may give the code to several guests at a time. Not great when there's no lock and you can be busted in by anyone who gets the code! Lame. Final note. Someone came in with a 'Pink Box' mug. The cashier gave him a berating in front of everyone in the shop. How rude! That made me realize that this PINK BOX must be the place to go for good doughnuts!!! They make an Amazing Strawberry cheesecake crunch donut and they are delicious! I finally made my way over this year after living in Las Vegas for 18 yrs. Holy cow! This place is properly named! Their donuts are LEGIT! I stopped by on a Saturday morning. It was around 11 am and they still had plenty of choices left. Good donuts. If in need of some cheap breakfast or cheap sweets then come here. Real Donuts is an unassuming place. Forget about it being in a ghetto area. They have the classics and some newer ones. It has a lot of the old favorite kind of donuts. Lots of variety even though it's a pretty small place. They have all the kinds you know, and then some. Many varieties including bear claw, cake, eclair, fritter, and glazed. The donuts are fairly cheap for the quality. It's about $12 for a dozen. They also have the "fancy" donuts, which cost a little more. Basically these are harder to make, so they're accounting for labor costs. These varieties include things like twists. Still the prices aren't bad. They also have some that are vegan. So that's good. There's another place for dairy free donuts around here. Good except for the location. It isn't an area to hang out in but on the morning it's pretty okay. This is the place for classic donuts and some fancier ones too. read more
