So it's been 3 years since I came back. The prices were mainly the reasons I decided it wasn't worth it. Today's visit was to have something different and this happened to be in our view. Bagels with cream cheese for me and bagel with eggs for the hubs. Today there aren't any add ons so I don't know if that part of this place has improved. I remember my last visit (3 years ago) the place charged me for lettuce and cheese on my sandwich and I felt a bit financially robbed. Basic sandwich ingredients shouldn't be an up charge. That opinion for me will never change. Today's visit was easy. The bagels were delicious and that's fantastic! So I'll let ya know if we stop by again to try a sandwich. . For now we'll stick to the main thing . Bagels .

"Medical Condition" so employees can't wear mask? Then maybe they shouldn't be working at a food place durning a global pandemic. I feel like it was just an excuse not to wear one. They were wearing gloves but answering phone taking money and making food and never changed them out. If I would have known ahead of placing my to go order I would have Not Gone. Not cool.

This place has gone way downhill in the past few years. Used to be pretty good and always busy but recently ghost town. The staff seems to be bothered by having to take your order, not friendly at all and slow. But today we picked bagels up and when I pulled one out of the bag it's got a clump of hair baked in. Definitely will not be going back and advise you don't either.

Born and raised in NY, and I have to say these bagels taste exactly like NY bagels. Even the setup is very NY like which felt like home. You know it's a REAL bagel place when they have egg and egg everything bagels. The bagel egg sandwich I got was cooked perfectly, a little skimpy on the bacon but no bagel spot in the Charlotte area comes close to these bagels. Yeah they are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. If you wanna save money, go next store and eat your stale Thomas bagels in a bag.

Not a bagel place for me. Poor service. People who work there are not welcoming. Don't even ask how you want your bagel done.

She is AMAZING and super sweet. I came in today and was "greeted" (meaning he didn't say a word the whole interaction) by a bald man with a tattoo by his ear. He did not say "hi" or "how can I help" you or anything. Just started at me. I told him my order and before I could finish speaking (I needed to show him I was also purchasing a drink) he put my order in and walked away before I could even get the rest of my order out of my mouth. He immediately walked to the back. I did not pay because I was waiting to get his attention to let him know he still needed to ring up the drink and that he only rung up the bagel. He finally looked my way from the back and said "you can tap to pay" and then immediately turned around so he was unable to see or hear me raise the drink up and say "you didn't ring up the drink". Luckily the kind woman was in the front and took care of me. I hate giving a negative review because I love the lady with the red hair, but the other man was terrible.

The sandwiches and meats looked good but I go to Poppy's for the bagels. Today I purchased an egg bagel (IYKYK) and a pumpernickel bagel with some scallion cream cheese, and for real, their bagels are the closest thing to actual NYC bagels I have found in Charlotte. Egg bagels are nigh impossible to find, and theirs are why I love egg bagels. Their pumpernickel is chewy and dense in flavor, and I'd be waxing poetic about their Asiago if they'd still had them. (sails out before I got there, alas.) The Poppy's on Providence is long, long overdue a refurb to match the hospitality of the SouthEnd location, because the Providence Road location is a bit of cluster and hard to navigate. It's crowded as heck inside and things are placed a little haphazardly. That said, my gosh, what great food. Maybe next time I'll wait long enough to snap photos before chowing down.

I've had more poppyseeds accidentally stuck in my teeth after walking past a bakery. So I went back inside and politely asked if they could give me one with more seeds. They took my bagel to the back, disappeared for a minute, and returned with what I am 99% certain was the exact same bagel. Maybe seed #11 was added. Hard to say. I didn't bring forensic equipment. Now I need to know what's happening at Poppyseed Bagels. Are the poppyseeds individually imported by private jet? Is there a seed embargo? Does the manager keep the poppyseeds in a locked briefcase handcuffed to his wrist? Is each employee issued 47 seeds at the beginning of their shift and required to account for every single one at closing? Because the name of the establishment is POPPYSEED BAGELS. Not Poppyseed-Inspired Bagels. Not Bagels With a Light Dusting of Poppyseed. Not The General Idea of Poppyseed. At some point, the poppyseeds need to enter the equation. And when a customer comes back asking for more, taking the bagel into the back for a little seed theater and returning the same bald bagel is diabolical. I'm not asking you to refinance the building. I'm asking for poppyseeds. Open the vault. Release the inventory. End seed austerity. WHY ARE YOU HOLDING OUT ON US?
