Garlic Knots Best authentic Italian knots I've had ever.
    Joshua M.

Best authentic Italian knots I've had ever. I been through 14 states and have ate Italian restaurants and pizzerias and have to say amazing. The homemade bread And fresh ingredients Mike uses are out of this town. When I say the Strombolis we are were like getting on a plane and flying to Italy to eat. Now we can without the jet lag. Must have if your around. The staff was amazing. So polite. Mike shows real respect and passion about his customers and food.

I always go this pizza spot when I happen to be in this shopping area, which is not very often. Ambience might not be great for casual date meals but the pizza quality is 1 of the best in Chapel Hill. Not bad for the price. The ingredients are good and you can taste the tomato sauce and cheese's freshness.

best garlic knots i've ever had. the dough was great for the pizza although i would've liked it to be a little crisper (we came close to closing time so i don't know if that's why). i also wish they put a little more cheese on the pizza. but over all great and cheap!!!

The place was busy and had Italian music playing in the background. It has tables and booths to the side with the main counter at front and you can smell the food as soon as you walk in. It immediately makes you hungry. We were seated at a booth and offered their free focaccia style bread with an olive oil accompaniment, which was delish. The bread was hot and crunchy, but not too much where you could still dip it in the olive oil. We then ordered a personal cheese pizza, the lasagna and the chicken parmigiana (which I didn't photograph). Everything was delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and funny. I would def recommend coming here and checking it out.

They changed the complimentary bread to something that was unrecognizable compared to what they had before and it tasted awful. I ordered my standard baked ziti which was too soupy, the ziti was overcooked and there was barely any mozzarella cheese on top, not to mention the portion seemed smaller than past luncheons. My husband had the chicken piccata that was bland and tasteless. We might give it one more try and if it fails again, well......

The person I was with ordered the same, with vodka, and she felt the caffeine. My dining partner and I began with the Wood Grilled Pear salad (small) and it was very tasty. I would order again. Meanwhile, bread was delivered to the table. The bread had no taste and was disappointing. Our entrees were lasagna and lemon linguine (with scallops & shrimp). Both were tasty. The star of the meal was the double chocolate geleto!! It was absolutely delicious and one order was enough for 2. It was served with a lemon biscotti that was the best biscotti I've ever tasted. The ambiance was not my favorite, however just personal preference. There are a few small parking lots nearby that are metered. There is 1 handicap parking space beside the restaurant (also metered). The service was solid.

Before reserving our private dining room, I was concerned that we might encounter the usual delays and miscommunication I've experienced several times in the past with other restaurants. Instead, we received professional, compassionate, timely, and reassuring service at every step. Coordination meetings with Mr. O'Connell took minutes instead of hours because he seemed able to anticipate exactly what we needed. Each concern was answered with "You don't have to worry - we'll take care of it" - and they did. The dining room was set beautifully, and it nicely accommodated our nearly 20 guests. Every detail was beautifully executed and timed just as we had requested. The special menu prepared for us was a major hit with or guests. And our server, Marley, was absolutely superb - perhaps the best, the friendliest, and most efficient in my memory. I'm now in my 90s, and I've seldom seriously used the word "perfect" to describe anything. But Mr. O'Connell and his staff, the dinner, the beverage service, and the attention to detail deserve a "perfect" rating. They have my family's and my highest recommendation and our sincere appreciation. BVC Chapel Hill, NC

The vibes are intimate and cozy, and I'm so glad I made a reservation because even on a Tuesday night, the whole place was full, and people kept coming throughout the evening. There's a few smaller tables and a bar overlooking an open kitchen. Bonus vibes points for the fresh flowers on the tables. The menu is Italian with a small, focused menu. We started with the focaccia bread, and wow, it was pillowy and melt in your mouth good. The butter that accompanies it was a warm hug that brought the whole thing together. Otherwise, we ordered a few other dishes. The waitress was really kind and helped us ensure that everything we got was vegetarian. We ordered the linguini vegetarian, rigatoni, and the gnocchi. The restaurant sits on Franklin Street, right in the heart of Chapel Hill near UNC. It's a lively, walkable area filled with shops and restaurants. Parking can be a little tricky--we circled a few blocks before finding a gravel lot nearby (free after 6 p.m. and all day Sunday). Inside, the place had an old-school, authentic feel. The staff spoke Italian, which added to the vibe, and the red curved booths reminded me of classic pizza joints from my childhood. The menu is posted on the wall behind the counter, and you order before sitting down. We also noticed their most recent health score was a 99, which was reassuring. My wife ordered the chef's salad, and I went with the meat stromboli. Her salad was fresh, colorful, and much better than the iceberg lettuce you often get. She enjoyed it so much that she finished before my stromboli was ready. When mine came out, it was served on a pizza pan with a side of sauce--it looked and tasted great. It was also clear they do a strong takeout business, with lots of people picking up orders and the phone constantly ringing. Overall, the food was solid, the atmosphere memorable, and it felt like a local institution that's earned its recognition. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Chapel Hill.
