If I could give this place no stars I would. I placed an order for delivery around 6:45 PM. I called at 8:30 to see where they were and they said the driver was out delivering orders and left ours! Instead of calling they just never said anything. I asked what they planned to do and they told me it'd be too late for delivery, to come get it. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. My husband and I took a chance, in spite of the awful reviews we read on GrubHub, and decided to order from Pop's anyway. We finished placing our order at 7:24pm and once we hit the 2 hour mark and our food still hadn't arrived, we called the restaurant but there was no answer. I called Grubhub and they got a hold of someone at the restaurant who said the driver should be pulling up in a few moments. We waited... At 9:41pm, I called Grubhub to cancel the order. The Pop's delivery guy called us at 9:51 to say that he was on his way. When we asked his ETA, he said he didn't know. We told him to turn around. We were baffled at the situation. This is pretty much one of 4 places that delivered to our area. The sweet potatoes and collards are great, as is the baked, smothered or fried chicken. The pork chop was not so great. The cornbread is cakey, fluffy and sweet, which is great if you're into that. The peach cobbler was fantastic though. Holy mother of Jesus, it's great. I have not dined in the restaurant but have had several meals from this place via Fooda and now a catered event. When we heard we were having soul food for lunch a coworker and I looked at each other and said "hope it's not Pops." It was. Most of the food is bland and flavorless. Well since this place had a good review on eat24 I decided to order here !! I'm not sure what all the hype was about , but the food was very below average..the Mac and cheese wasn't real southern Mac and cheese and the smothered chicken had really no flavor at all .. I ordered the pops dinner for $15.00 and the only items actually worth eating were the collard green and the catfish.. Catfish was a lil salty , but kinda tasty. The rest of the dinner was garbage !! Not to mention that it took them 2 hours to deliver the meal so by the time the food got here it was cold.. My only guess is that the people In Georgia don't know real soul food when they taste it.. Didn't live up to the name. I ordered the catfish platter with red beans with rice and Mac and cheese. The fish was well battered and cook perfectly! ...but that was it. The Mac and cheese was unseasoned and tasted of more noodle than cheese. The the beans were way too spicy rice was so overcooked, the single grains were unrecognizable. The tea I ordered came in a hot can, the cake I ordered was freezer burned and nasty, the chicken had absolutely no meat on it and was all skin(and even that was stale), the sides were minuscule and what bothered me the most was the fact that the freakin' philly cheese steak was little just dry pieces of steak on bread, slapped with a bunch of plastic, tasteless cheese. Honestly I was afraid based on these reviews BUT I decided to try it on my own. And honestly it was a very good choice my food arrived sooner than they estimated which was 45 minutes. (I timed it from the moment the guy said it) it took 35 minutes. When I received my food I got what I ordered 6 piece fish 3 sides; Mac and cheese, collards, and black eyed peas EVERYTHING was piping hot. The fish was amazing the Mac was ok not the best I've had but good and the black eyed peas weren't all that either but I've never tasted any that were amazing. (I also don't add seasons so that may be why it was more bland to me) Needless to say my experience surpassed expectation. And I would definitely order here again. read more

I looked up a place to order some soul food from while I was at work and POP's came up. Initially I saw the negative reviews but thought to myself who can mess up soul food , so I gave them a try ! This was out of the ordinary for me also because I only order my soul food from Who's Got Soul (BEST SOULFOOD PLACE HANDS DOWN) I ordered a 2 pc whitening plate, mac and cheese, peach cobbler , and green tomatoes. Once the food arrived I was supper excited, and dying to taste the "soul food" I craved so bad. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to enjoy any of the "meal". First they sent me a beyond messed up order. No I didn't get a 2 pc whitening plate, I got an 8 pc soggy maybe whitening fish plate, I knew it had to be microwaved but I didn't believe my eyes , like really you guys would serve someone this disaster. Then to the mac and cheese it was tasteless you could tell shredded cheese had been thrown on top of the macaroni and microwaved also because I could taste the Styrofoam. My peach cobbler was atrocious,it literally tasted like it was old and starting to mold, I spit it out immediately and rinsed my mouth with peroxide and baking soda. I never received my green tomatoes and maybe that was a good thing because overall the "meal" was not up to par at all.
