I was so excited Poquitos was coming to Bothell. I love the one in capital hill. I have to say that I am super disappointed. Poquitos is known for their margaritas. At the new location I got $9 happy hour margaritas(purist) in a short glass totally watered down and sub-par. I am a totally light weight- couldn't even catch a buzz after 3- felt like I drank watered down fruit juice. The food was just okay- mediocre at best.Save your money go to Pasion, Julio's or Mi Tierra. I am so sad! Hopefully it is because they just opened. I wanted to love this place! read more

Good ambiance. Not an authentic Mexican food place. Far from authentic flavors. Went with high hopes and got bit of disappointment. However, it has potentials so will give it another shot sometime in future. Michelada - I ordered with Pacifico and it was rimmed with sugar. Really? Michelada flavor was okay as well. Pacifico was supposed to be draft but felt very flat beer! Pistacio Guac - Ordered after reading the ingredients and guess I had high expectations or was looking for a wow factor and it was not there so bit disappointed there. It was a decent guacamole by itself and had some curshed pistachio on top. Mixed Tacos - from presentation it looked pretty good and hopes were high but all meats were cold, dry and over cooked. Side of small salsa - It had sugar in it as well. It had similar taste like canned tomatoes. Enchiladas- Veg enchiladas seemed like it had canned sauce instead of fresh ingredients. Were able to taste preservatives. Over all ratings: 3 stars (cant give 2.5) Food - 2.5 star Ambiance - 4 star Service - 3 star Will give another shot at this place with diff type of food and if I get different experience, I will update this review. read more

The food wasn't really to my tastes. The drink was pretty weak, the queso was kind of velveeta with some spicy flavor. The main dishes we ordered were really lacking flavor (carnitas) and for my shrimp dish it was an odd combination of sweet and sour and mexican spices that was just off putting. The portions were fair sized and the prices, especially for the drinks and appetizers was good. The service was a little slow but it was Friday night. But still, kinda slow. It was eh. Options for good mexican food around here are slim so you take what you can get. But I'd look around a bit before trying this. read more

I have heard a lot about the Poquitos location in Seattle, so I was glad they put a location in Bothell (close to me!). I came here with two of my girlfriends on a Wednesday night for dinner and the service was pretty good! Our server wasn't the most obviously friendly person, but he was nice and polite enough, and refilled our drinks a few times. The restaurant's decor looks awesome and I love the feel of space as a whole. I am only giving this place 3 stars because the food was just okay. And for the price for the portion size, I was hoping it would be a lot better. I ordered their cheese enchiladas and to be honest, the cheese inside doesn't really take like cheese. It's a little hard to explain, but something about them was just... okay. Not terrible, but not great either. We also ordered the corn appetizer. It was also okay... there was some overwhelming seasoning on top of it, so I think if that were taken down a notch, it would've been better. The standout for the evening was the frozen s'mores dessert. THAT was really good. We ordered two the for table and didn't regret it. I'd probably try this place one more time, but I'll order something different for sure. read more

Was excited to try Poquitos. The ambiance is great; with fun decor, nice bar and the outside seating. Wasn't expecting that you don't receive free salsa and chips. We paid $8 for a "half" order of guacamole that tasted store bought. It probably wasn't even a full cup size. We ordered two kids meals; tacos and the quesadillas. Came on a cute divided plate. We ordered the Trio tacos and the meat was dry. The ratio between protein and toppings lacked. Also ordered the Chicken Tingy tacos; there was too much meat on the measly little corn tortilla. The tortilla immediately broke and was disappointing. The toppings on the tacos lacked. The Hibiscus Agua Fresca was 0/10 don't recommend. Super tart and a stingy flavor not sure if they add some sort of tonic water to it. The service was horrible, the gal was oblivious to things needed on the table. I also witnessed the waitress handle straws unacceptable. Show would touch the tops with her bare hands . We got more help from the food runners. Service was good! Menu and food were just "ok". No complimentary chips and salsa so we spent the $5 for the salsa trio and found that the salsa was again...just "ok". We tried the grasshoppers and they were pretty good but it's kinda hard to eat a whole bowl full of bugs. Wife had the tacos and I had the prawns. We came here during happy hour on a weekday and were seated right away in the bar area. The restaurant is beautiful with plants and art everywhere! We ordered chips and guacamole and the happy hour quesadilla both were $7. Both were really fresh and delicious! They have some fun drinks such as their frose frozen cocktail. I will definitely be back! Only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it's a little on the pricey side. But overall- great! read more

We were looking for a place with nice outdoor dining and Poquitos really does it right. With sheltered outdoor booths with a radiant heater literally over the table at each table. I had the trio of tacos and my wife had the enchilada platter and we started with the chips with 3 types of salsa. The red sauce was pretty standard, the pico de gallo was exactly what you'd expect, and the green sauce was the best of the three. The tacos were good, although maybe a bit too much sour cream on the chicken tinga for my taste (although sour cream lovers might not feel that way.) The enchilada platter was very substantial and nicely sauced. I had the house ginger beer, which was very good, although WAY too much ice in it. Early on the rap on this place was that it was way over-priced, but I think they've simplified their menu and the price for what we got was reasonable. I think there are a few places in Bothell with better Mexican food (e.g., Julio's) but the atmosphere and service here are great. read more

This has become a household favorite this past 2 months. The outdoor seating and heaters is extremely comfortable! We have been 4 times in the last month as we need to get out of the house. Bobby is amazing! He remembered all of our names and what we get! I always order the cheese quesadilla and he has a way of making it the best quesadilla ever! If you get Bobby as your server ask him for suggestions on meals and how he makes it better! We have made it a weekly thing to go after my nieces swim practice! 10/10 recommend their queso(a little spicy for the little one) and chips! read more

Our house has some remodeling going on and had to duck out for one night. We elected to stay at the McMenamins Anderson School property next door. Mexican sounded good so ordered carry out. My wife had the Mahi tacos and I ordered the pork tacos, street type. Very disappointing fish tacos loaded with so many onions hard to eat. The pork tacos were extremely dry and went into the trash. A tiny serving of rice and beans came with each entree, and I mean tiny. Come on rice and beans? Had I eaten in house I would have sent it back. Just shy of $50 for this. This was the evening of 9/15. Fairly rude service at the counter too. I rarely write reviews but this experience deserves it. We were tired and just wanted a decent meal to take back to room. This place has gone down hill a lot lately. Completely understand that running a restaurant/business during these times can be difficult. But our waitress on our recent visit was very inattentive the entire time. I had to make eye contact with her from across the restaurant every time I needed her attention. She also took nearly 15 minutes to come greet us upon arrival. Again, I'm sure thing are difficult right now but it wasn't that busy on this night. She just hardly came over at all and everything she brought out took forever!! The drink that I ordered was not good at all, I left it almost completely untouched and she just didn't mention a word about the fact that i hadn't actually drank any of it since the second I got it. My friends and I came here on a Saturday for girls night. We called 15 mins before for a reservation and had no problem getting a table. The food was good and the service was friendly. The restaurant is very cool and the ambience is definitely very hip. We all shared the chips and salsa which came with a 2 bowls of chips and a trio of salsa for our party of 5. It was about $7. I then ordered the trio of tacos and the horchata. The trio of tacos came with a chicken taco, an al pastor taco, and a beef taco. They were all seasoned well and had a good kick to it. Food was good however whew we found we left our dogs treats on the table we turn right around after crossing the street. I saw the table being cleared I asked the hostess for our dogs favorite treats and I was told that they had been thrown out . I get that it is a newly opened place, and staff will take time to get into the groove. That said, the "we will text you when you can be seated" portion needs work. The message that you get when your table is ready says "Your table is almost ready make your way to the front desk, press one to say you are on your way, press 9 to cancel your reservation." We have never left, and we're sitting right near the hostess and upon hitting one to confirm nobody called a name and we saw several other people get seated. Finally we went up to ask if we had a table yet and they said that yes they were waiting for us. Rather than confusing your customers, you should have the message state that your table is ready and to go check in with the host. My only other quibble is with being in a Mexican restaurant that does not offer chips and salsa upfront with everyone sitting down at their table. You actually have to buy chips and either guacamole, or a triple salsa sampler. Overall the food was very good the service was fairly on point considering a weekend evening and how busy they were. The other two things I mentioned above should have already been worked out considering this is the second location for this same restaurant in owner. Having been through all of this before and another restaurant that's been open for several years I think they would have these simple types of kinks worked out read more

Took my Mother to Poquitos Happy Hour and hands down everything was amazing. The atmosphere was perfection, service was amazing and our waitress was attentive and went above and beyond when I explained we had brought a cupcake in to celebrate my dad's heavenly birthday, which she immediately got a lighter for the candle. The food and drinks were great everything came out quickly, the food and drinks complimented one another. We had a variety of items on the Happy Hour menu and enjoyed everything from the ceviche, guacamole and chips, carnitas tacos, steak fries, Frose Sangria, and the Coco-Ritas. We will definitely be back. For the reviews I read that were negative always remember each persons experience is different and multiple factors can be taken into consideration. I don't think anyone will be disappointed, unless your looking to find something. I live in Bothell and typically don't eat in Bothell due to the horrible customer service and I'm glad I reconsidered. Today was a little less sad over great food and drinks. read more

Poquitos is great for ambiance, drinks, and NACHOS. Seriously their nachos are next level. The food here leans towards more traditional Mexican food, not the Tex Mex most other restaurants in the area serve, so be aware of that--otherwise you may be disappointed. read more

The bottomless chips and salsa were well worth the $5.50, as you got 3 types of salsa and everything was clearly fresh and housemade. We recently had Poquitos cater our company holiday party. The manager Kris and Chef Tony were absolutely amazing and accommodating to our needs and budget. They were extremely professional and did an absolute amazing job at catering our event. The food was delicious and everyone at the party was raving about it. This was actually my fourth time here and may be my last. Although the decor is unique and the servers are friendly, the hostess soured us on any return visits. We were confused as to the outdoor bar seating area. One sign immediately in front of the outdoor area said, See Host for Seating, So we did. The hostess and had a lovely accent, however her attitude didn't match. We said we wanted to sit outside in the bar. Apparently, our communications were crossed due to the sign and we thought the entire outdoor area was bar seating, not knowing there is also regular seating right next to it. So since we couldn't understand what she meant and she couldn't understand what we wanted, when it was finally clear, she took the menus and shoved them at me and said bar seating is self-serve in an exasperated tone and turned and walked away. Most of the confusion could be alleviated by a more clear delineation between the outdoor dining and the bar area. Nevertheless, it's not okay to treat guests like that. read more

We stop by for two margaritas and $23 later we were disappointed. The margaritas was served in a small 7oz rock glass with maybe 1 oz of tequila and the over riding flavor was the lime juice. For $23 please make authentic margaritas and serve free chips and salsa with the drink. When I look at other tables, very few customers were drinking margaritas and this should of been the sign to leave before we placed our order. Wow what a big disappointment! We had heard good things about this place and all 9 of us were quite surprised of the poor quality. We paid $30, yes $30 for a carne asada that was just a piece of meat(with lots of fat on it) over a bland sauce that wasn't even hot! The margaritas were just ok with very little tequila in them. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience this evening at Poquitos in Bothell. The host (Nick) and waitperson (Madison) greeted us so warmly and were very helpful with suggestions and alternatives (my wife is vegan). The ambiance was perfect - charming, sophisticated, yet earthy and a bit whimsical. The restaurant was quiet enough to converse intimately, but it had an energy that felt like fun stuff was happening just beyond our table. The menu offered some of the dishes that people have come to know and expect in Mexican restaurants, but even the traditional items were especially creative, fresh, and just different enough to be intriguing. Following margaritas, and guacamole and chips (all of which tasted authentic and fresh), my wife had a vegan fajita dish with sautéed onions and peppers, roasted yams and a sprinkling of nuts and cilantro over soft tortillas (she was swooning over it). I had the Torta Ahogada, which was perfectly prepared and thoroughly delicious. I had the presence of mind to ask for the tomato-arbol chile sauce on the side instead of pooled in the bottom of the plate (would have made the sandwich soggy). It is worth noting that on this particular Sunday we had traveled from two hours away to an emergency vet clinic near the restaurant. While our very sick animal was undergoing tests we ducked out for some sustenance and found Poquitos. We especially appreciated Madison who was so kind and sensitive to our situation. For us, Poquitos turned out to be a wonderful, welcome oasis in an otherwise anxious storm. read more
