I order a Vietnamese Coffee with light ice today at 12 and when my coffee is ready I see it's not really filled to the top. H ementioned it's because I asked for "light ice". I am sorry but light ice does not mean LESS COFFEE wtf. So when I said something the worse part about this is he takes my drink and in order for me to feel "satisfied" he dumps a bunch of creamer in my drink to fill it to the top. Was in the area a block away and decided to check this place out. Really cool vibes from everyone working here. Chill and old school in the best way. They were jammin' to Beastie Boys which we loved and were fast and attentive. Tried their dirty chai which slapped. Would definitely go back for that. Also tried the Sea Ray. Not as much of a fan of this one. Wasn't sweet nor savory. Sort of inbetween which is great if you want something in the middle but next time I'm going with a dirty chai. Great little spot if you need a pick-me-up near the East Village. The Seahorse Coffee spot / container is very convenient -- and quick! I was able to get a tea with steamed milk and be on my way in just a few moments. It looks like there are activities / entertainment adjacent to the space at select times, too. This is definitely our favorite coffee shop downtown! I live a couple of blocks away and my wife and I come here every weekend, usually both Saturday and Sunday. The coffee is always consistently good and a lot more affordable than other places downtown. Chris is normally there and he knows our drinks so we don't even have to ask. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They are also very dog friendly, and give treats to our pug every morning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We moved back to San Diego last year after leaving in Seattle for a long time, and honestly this is much better than anything in Seattle post COVID. DO NOT GO HERE. As a coffee lover I was excited to try a new coffee place in San Diego, but I was disappointed. I ordered the pumpkin latte & my friend ordered the dirty chai. Both of our drinks did not taste good at all. They were too sweet and the coffee tasted burnt. We didn't drink them at all. Seahorse Coffee is a cute coffee stand located on the corner of Market and 13th in downtown San Diego. Their baristas were super outgoing and the male barista had a great sense of humor. I ordered two Vietnamese Iced Coffees, which I was told was one of their best sellers. It only took a few minutes for them to make after walking up. It was a good size drink as you can see by the picture. While not my favorite Vietnamese Iced Tea in San Diego it was definitely solid and I would order again. read more

I loooooovvveee this spot! It's great for coffee on the go if you're on foot! It's a cute little out door coffee shack type. I always stop by on my walks through the city. The staff is friendly and they are always on point with orders and any changes you as for in your coffee. I'm not exactly sure why this place is rated so highly. The service is very back and forth. The person helping us was nice then rude then average then rude again. I don't really understand what the problem was or why they were acting like that. Aside from all that, I still got a drink that I didn't order. I decided to give this place a try since I lived across the street, the workers were really nice and accommodating. It was pretty reasonably priced, there's no seating area but it's an easy for a pick me up when you're downtown. I got an iced vanilla latte with caramel, which was pretty good. read more

I was doing some work nearby and came across the Quartyard but wasn't hungry. Seahorse Coffee was in the container on the corner and while I'm not a big coffee fan I ended up stopping by to take a look at their menu. I ended up with the Berried Alive smoothie and while I waited for it to be made I was strongly considering getting one of their pastries, even though I wasn't hungry. Fortunately, for my stomach, my smoothie was finished and I managed to walk away without falling into temptation. My smoothie was delicious, lots of fresh berries and blended well so that it didn't turn into a flavorless slush by the end. Cute little place with a lot of non-coffee options on their menu. I have it bookmarked as a place to come back to if I go back to San Diego. read more

It is side street parking but if you live in downtown you know just to pull up where ever you can and get your coffee before the parking terrorist come out. read more

I was walking to the Food Market in the area and need a pick me up. I've seen this coffee shop before , just by passing thru the area. I needed a pick me up, I ordered a regular vanilla iced latte medium. I don't always like fancy drinks, this drink seemed basic but was good and just the right taste. Not too sweet and not too bitter, I really liked the taste. When I got there , there was a couple there who said Seahorse Coffee was their favorite coffee shop. The iced latte tasted more like iced coffee rather than a latte.. it was still good.. but not what I expected. My favorite coffee in the Gaslamp/East Village area!! First of all it's really good and then secondly the price is not too expensive. I also get a muffin, banana chocolate bread, or bagel every now and then...I think you should ask for 2 cream cheeses if you get the bagel. I also sometimes grab coffee here and then get a croissant or bagel at Izola or Baked Bagels nearby--those other places don't have near as good of coffees!! Very tasty, nice place to sit outside, and it won't break the bank! What more could you ask for!! read more

Passed by on the way to the trolley and impulsively stopped for a coffee. My Mexican mocha was great, it wasn't overly sweet and still had a lot of flavor. I am so disappointed that a business run by such a terrible person is in my neighborhood. I am a native San Diegan but I moved to East Village about a year ago. One of the owners at this coffee shop (Chris) has served me a couple times and has been curt every time, which doesn't necessarily bother me. Today was different. On my way to the shop this morning, I offered to buy a homeless man a coffee. I recently got a raise at work and I wanted to pay it forward. Chris was immediately huffing and puffing over the homeless man being there. The homeless man asked Chris, "what food do you guys have?" and Chris said, "You're looking at it", motioning to the pastry display case. That's not true, Chris, you have a whole list of paninis, bowls, and parfaits as well. The homeless man asked for an oatmeal. Chris, rolling his eyes, gave it to him and said "you're all set" but the homeless man said, "actually I wanted a coffee too". Chris said, "well you're not ordering, she is". I confirmed it was ok and Chris prepared his coffee. I was shocked and confused by Chris' treatment of this man who was entirely kind, respectful and polite. So while paying I asked, "Do you know this man? Does he bother you?" and Chris responded, "No I don't know him. I just hate that you have to pay taxes to get coffee and still have to deal with panhandling" This man never panhandled me. And even if he did, I am an adult capable of saying no. Finally, the homeless man comes back to the counter and Chris, banging the counter in obvious annoyance, asks him what he needs. The man just needed a spoon for his oatmeal. I, like many other East Village community members, am frustrated with the homelessness issue throughout our neighborhood. But that doesn't mean we can treat individuals as less than human. I was paying for his meal and would have tipped 20% or more on it. This benefits you and your business. Chris, this is embarrassing and shameful. Kindness and empathy are free. Food is a human right. You are not a community man. You were hatefully aggressive toward a person who was just hungry and you deserve to be held accountable. Are these the values that Quartyard stands by? If so, I will not support this space in my community. read more

Even though it was a small outdoor shop built in a shipping container, their menu surprised me in a good way due to its impressive variety from hot drinks, iced drinks, frappes, smoothies, to food. Its vibrant and aesthetic logo painting makes it hard to miss! *WAIT TIME- only one couple ahead of us when we arrived on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 pm. *AMBIANCE- "beachy" vibes, it just felt like this type of coffee shop would be on a nice beach along with the loud music they were playing. Felt laid-back but fast-paced and on-the-go at the same time *QUALITY- I got a "Runner's Up" frappe and wifey got an "Acai breaker" smoothie. The location for this spot is a great open area with lots of picture-worthy art, however, solely based on coffee this place was unfortunately subpar compared to other spots around the area. I ordered one of the specialty drinks that had coconut, and the drink unfortunately was really watered down and lacked a lot of flavor. The quality of the roast just wasn't there and the syrups tasted pretty cheap. You're better off going a few blocks down for other coffee. As for the service, the barista was pretty rude. He rushed my friends and I even though we were the only ones there. I asked if I could get some coffee sleeves and I kid you not- he threw them in my direction. Overall not a good experience. The Seahorse Coffee spot is located at the entrance of Quartyard on the corner of 13th and Market St., and by golly they are making some great coffee. I had them make me a Cafe au Lait and was perfect. It offered a great coffee flavor and was very smooth and easy to drink. Not bad coming out of a modified container box that now host and coffee shop. They also make espresso drinks, teas, and smoothies. If you have the munchies, they offer some pastries and muffins. If you have pooch, they have dog treats as well! Great service. read more
