This summer we made it a mission to find the best example of a "mango sticky rice" drink and we were fortunate enough to find Its Cafe Thai. The drink exhibited every core to the classic Thai dessert and there was really little room for improvement other than the ratio of rice to coconut blend could be evened out. However, sipping the cocosmoothie with bits of rice made up my mind as I can confidently say this is #1. If you're looking for something different and tired of the conventional smoothie or milk tea, come experience this. Give some patience as orders are made fresh from this small hole in the wall. I came on a Sunday morning & they weren't too busy. I questioned about the taro in the Taro Thai coffee & it seems that it's not fresh taro but a power that they use in their taro milk tea. The barista mentioned that it is on the sweeter side. When this was mentioned I felt like it would be a good pairing because the Thai coffees that I am used to having are typically on the strong side. I also heard from another customer that the Thai coffee had a slight mocha taste to it which I thought was interesting. I'm indifferent to powdered taro milk teas, although this one in particular, I did not enjoy. It was thick and sludgy, with an undertone of medicine reminding me of pepto bismol. The color was lovely, but not the taste. I wouldn't order this particular drink again. The drink I chose was medium size and it was only $5.38 (or 5.83, I can't remember & I don't think I got a receipt) ish which I can appreciate! The top portion of the drink was the Thai coffee and I really did like the flavor. Next time I'll get a different drink for sure! My friend tried the Green Thai Tea for the first time and really enjoyed the flavor of it. It had a floral jasmine + vanilla taste, a little bit on the sweet side-- but refreshing and delicious. The prices are pretty good (coffee and milk teas) and they also have smoothies (which can be on the more expensive side $9-12). Water cup is free upon request. They also have only a handful of seatings, but it's a nice area to walk around. They have umbrellas as well, but they do need a heavier stand for windy days as I've witnessed it fall into a car several times. FARMERS MARKET VENDOR (4.5 stars) Apparently they are on wheels and they also have a shop in Barrio Logan. I discovered this spot at a farmers market on a really hot day and the drinks looked refreshing to pass up. Also, at this farmers market, this was the popular booth on the block with loads of people ordering. COCONUT STRAWBERRY ($9) - this was the perfect drink on a hot day strolling a farmers market. It was semi-sweet and refreshing. 2/3 of the cup was a strawberry shake/slushy (no milk base) and then topped 1/3 of the cup with a light foamy coconut shake/foam. SO GOOD. Came here to try the mango sticky rice smoothie. Let me tell you it was delicious, but I would say it's more of a dessert like halo halo which you need a spoon for and not really a drink. This is because of the large chunks of mango and rice. It's basically mango sticky rice in a cup. Would I get this again yes. Saw this spot on TikTok because of their Mango Sticky Rice Coconut Smoothie... with actually sticky rice? Genius, in my opinion. I love mango sticky rice in general and this drink really hit the spot. Flavor was delicious. Additionally I ordered their green Thai tea which was also very delicious and their Thai coffee. It's a teeny cafe, 2 chairs inside, a few 2 person tables outside. Love the plants inside and also the worker is nice it's a nice spot to just grab and go, browse other shops and it's just a block away from Chicano park. I unfortunately live far from here, if I was close by I'd come here all the time! I would definitely order their green Thai tea again and either their mango sticky rice smoothie or just the regular traditional mango sticky rice. It's Cafe Thai has opened a brick-and-mortar location in the heart of Barrio Logan. I believe the business still makes appearances at some of the local farmers markets. The suite they occupied was very narrow with no indoor seating. A few outdoor tables were set up on the sidewalk in front of the business while some picnic tables were available to the west of the building. Thai beverages, Thai desserts, non-dairy smoothies, and sugar cane drinks made up the menu. I wanted to try one of the five choices in the last category, however the worker informed me that they did not have any sugar cane in stock which was disappointing. I ended up ordering a large Super Tea that was a combination of Thai iced tea and matcha. You could see from the outside of the cup that an orange layer rested above a green layer which meant the Thai iced tea was on top of the matcha. While the flavors were good, there was too much ice added to the drink. The $6 cost for a 20 oz serving wasn't bad so that was positive. Overall, I gave a 3.5 star rating for my experience at It's Cafe Thai. read more

If you love mango sticky rice this is the spot to be! The sticky rice is sooo sweet and perfectly chewy but also soft! And the mango is always just right. The shop is pretty small so I would recommend you grab and go, but it is very charming and beautifully decorated. It's Cafe Thai is one of the newer spots that has opened up in the Barrio Logan area. Here, they are serving up some amazing Thai-inspired drinks and desserts. There is no parking lot here but there is a ton of street parking around the area. Inside, they have limited seating but they do have a nice outdoor patio area with more seating. For their menu, they have a wide range of selection of different drinks and desserts to choose from. Wifey and I tried their Mango Sticky Rice with Coconut Smoothie and it had an amazing flavor profile without being too sweet. Overall, we are glad we stumbled upon this spot while walking around the area and got to support an awesome new AAPI business. All of the staff here, including the owners, are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely come check them out and show some love if you are ever nearby. read more

There was no price on the menu for it and they didn't have a display out of Shaun how big it was. We discovered this place by accident, we wanted something sweet after getting tacos nearby haha The drinks were amazing! The coconut milk smoothie drinks with the strawberry and the mango sticky rice smoothie were refreshing and doesn't taste artificial at all. It's nice that the drinks were vegan (dairy-free) The girl who took the order and made the drink was super friendly and patient in explaining the menu. I watched her made the drinks and it's quite a process. If you do go to this place, be patient. We were fortunate to be the only guests at the time, I can imagine the time wait can be long if they have only one person taking orders and making the drinks. (Maybe they have more workers earlier in the day). I think it's worth the wait. Can't wait to come back. No place to sit inside, it's more of an order and to go place. I finally tried this cafe, & man was it worth it! I strictly went to try the Mango Sticky Rice Smoothie. It's great! It has huge chucks of fresh cut mangoes on the bottom, a nice big scoop of mango sticky rice on top if that, blended smoothie on top of that, & even more mango on top of that! It's amazing! I'm obsessed with anything associated with Thai food, & this place has some delicious Thai inspired drinks & treats, but there's something even better than the drinks there. An incredibly attentive and friendly staff. I was served by the incredibly nice Sonja. I was chatting with her about how long they've been open, & our shared love of Thai food. As we were talking, she stopped to introduce me to the owner, Alex. Another incredibly nice person. He is from Thailand, & was giving me all the best recommendations on Thai food in San Diego. He was so generous, & even asked me "if I like coffee?" & followed up, by making me a delicious complementary Biscotti coffee. Both drinks were delicious.
