They were pumping out takeout food, great looking nachos, pizzas, wings burgers, and priced perfectly! This might be the place I've been looking for for a long time. It's a certainly a throwback of what it's supposed to be like to go out and have a good day. Great crowd very clean.. perfect age group 25-50. I heard they have an upstairs as well. I cannot wait to go back there and watch football games on , Thursdays, and Sunday nights! I will go back for the food atmosphere and pleasant people that work there. My friend and I went in Porky's thinking to have ribs. When we asked the waitress she snidely remarked "we don't have ribs". We then ordered chicken wings and egg rolls(not complicated). We were sitting there a long time and I asked the waitress where our order was. She replied very rudely "it's busy here and there's a lot of people, your orders in." We then waited some more. My friend ordered a beer and she slammed the beer on the table. That was it, my friend told her we're leaving and he wasn't paying for the beer she slammed on the table. It's a bar but I was pleasantly surprised at the available seating. Should have called in my take out order but it was quickly made. After several phone calls and not finding it anywhere else, I ordered the porchetta sandwich without the hot peppers and muzz it comes with. It was a good sandwich. We had a great experience here. We had lots of food and drank lots of beer. I'm really impressed by the service, for a busy neighborhood bar they were so very very friendly and attentive. We felt very welcome. We ordered the Philly egg rolls, very good and the horseradish dipping sauce was powerful but amazing. We got garlic parm buff wings, very good and crispy. Lastly we wanted to try the cheese pizza, it was good and fresh. There's other stuff on the menu we want to try next time and a lot of people were ordering the specialty pizzas so those are on my list, along with getting more wings. It's an ok place for a local dive still. Nothing particularly outstanding or awful. The layout is nice because there's ample space in the dining room and the bar isn't jammed up. The beer selection is well balanced but the service could be more accurate or accountable? Like idk. How do you forget to ring in one item on a two item order? And then still charge for it like the customer didn't just sit there waiting for 10 minutes while their food is getting cold? Seems kind of seriously dumb and entitled to me. Sorry is cool. My food still got cold and I had to rush to eat it? And then charging $1.00 per side of wing dip sauce like it didn't come out of a $6.99 gallon jug? The big pro is that they give you a whole roll of paper towel. I liked that a lot. I won't say I won't be back, but for $30 I can do way better at home so I won't be rushing back either. Honestly, the food is amazing and the waitstaff is super friendly and attentive. I've genuinely never once left this place unsatisfied, unhappy, or let down. The wings are, in my opinion, the best in the relative area. (I come from 30+ minutes away.) the drinks are fair priced and fairly poured. The PIZZA! It's so good. The waitstaff is so friendly, the food comes out quick. I didn't realize it was a "restaurant" opposed to just a bar (in the sense that I was slightly shocked to see younger kids one time) but overall it's a great vibe amazing food friendly staff you will not be let down. read more

My wife and I went in to Porkys on a Saturday afternoon and the egg rolls and chicken wings with a couple beers. Our bartender was amazingly friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. The food was hot and delicious and came out very quickly. Porkys has a very "neighborhood bar" type of feel and we love it. We live in Shelton and have for about 5 years but don't get out much. My first time at Porky's, I ordered a large cheese pizza, and a small pepperoni pizza with chicken tenders dipped in barbecue sauce (since they don't sell boneless wings) for take-out. The food was good overall. I can't speak to the service other than the order was ready in the time frame I was given over the phone. Kelly, the waitress who cashed me out and brought my order to me was very pleasant. Also, while waiting in the front of the restaurant/sports bar, I was asked by another waitress if I was being helped, so they appeared attentive the potential customers from the moment I walked through the door even though they were busy. The restaurant was full, and the customers appeared to all be enjoying the various college football games being shown on the numerous screens in the place. I only wish I was given my receipt afterward. I thought it was staples to the bag, and though the order slip was, and did not reflect the amount I paid. I definitely would try this place again since the family enjoyed it. I am also adding pics of the menu menu to this review since I had trouble finding readable pics of the full menu anywhere online. I wouldn't waste your time. Wings are good but flats to drum ratio are 2 flats for every 10 drums. Don't bother asking for a better ratio they'll just tell you they're pre-bagged and it's impossible to determine what you'll get before they put them in the fryer, mind boggling. Also, can't have two different sauces if you order 5 or 10 wings, must order 15 or 20. You can pay extra for sides of sauce and put the sauce on yourself, again mind boggling. The fact they can't be more flexible with their menu and put sauce on your wings if you pay extra makes it not worth the visit. read more

My boyfriend went to Porky's because we wanted some good wings and a good drink. I have been going to Porky's for probably 5 years. So this review isn't based on a one time experience. My personal opinion is that Porky's USED to be a great little bar to grab drinks, wings, and pizza. My opinion of Porky's now is as follows: Food: We ordered 20 wings and asked for them to be 1/2 BBQ and 1/2 Thai. It was disappointing when the waitress informed us that Porky's will not split flavors and that if we wanted both kinds we would need to order to separate orders of wings. To me, this was a little ridiculous and cheap on the owner's part. But it is what it is and we ordered to batches of wings in both flavors. When the wings came out, I was again disappointed. They were the smallest and saddest looking wings I have ever seen. Not only that but they were barely covered with sauce. This irritated me because we were paying EXTRA for 2 different sauces, yet the wings were basically naked. Another stupid thing: I asked for Ranch dressing with 1 order of the wings because I do not like blue cheese dressing. I was told that this costs extra because blue cheese, and only blue cheese, is what comes with the wings. Again, I put this up to the owner being cheap. We also got the nachos to snack on. When they came out they looked delicious. As we started to eat them however, we realized that only 1/2 of the cheese was melted. Again -another disappointment. Drinks: Even though the food was disappointing to my boyfriend and me, the drinks were my biggest concern. My boyfriend ordered the IPA they had on draft and I ordered a glass of Barefoot Pinot Noir. BOTH OF OUR DRINKS WERE WATERED DOWN! I don't know about everyone else but for me this is utterly not acceptable. Just in case you're doubting me, my boyfriend's IPA tasted exactly like Bud Light. It was also the color of Bud Light. For anyone who is not familiar with IPAs, they are usually very hoppy and bitter and the usually darker in color. It was CLEAR from looking and even just smelling my boyfriend's "IPA" that it was not in fact a 100% IPA as it should have been. Also -I ordered the Barefoot Pinot Noir. I drink this wine at home all the time, therefore I know what it should taste like. What I received in my piddly glass was probably half way watered down. The watered down drinks were the deal breaker for me. When owner's start pulling those kinds of stunts, it means they no longer care about customer satisfaction. Furthermore, if the owner is cutting corners like that, it also makes you wonder what OTHER corners (like with food prep, cleaning, etc) he's cutting to meet his bottom line. To the owner who probably doesn't read his reviews on here: Stop trying to cut corners to make more money. You're the one losing out in the end because it makes people, like boyfriend and I and everyone else that I have talked to about your restaurant, not want to return. I will never return to Porky's. Especially because there are so many newer places in the area that have better customer service, better food, NON WATERED DOWN DRINKS, and are also cheaper. Hit up Archie Moore's in downtown Derby instead. Or drive a little further and try out Prime 16 in Milford. Both of these places have quality products and won't disappoint! read more
