There's a couple things that instantly struck me about this place once I walked in; it looks like a bare room with a bunch of tables thrown into it and a couple things hanging on the wall. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about AT ALL. Also, there is a lot of unnecessary space within the restaurant that could be used to move some tables further apart as in some places you are basically sitting against the person behind you. All that being said, the food is mediocre. The group I was with had tried all the wing flavors as this was our first time visiting. The wings were alright, but no where near the quality as nearby wing joints within a mile of the front door of this place. Moving on we all got sandwiches for dinner. I personally had the burger and it came out cooked tasting like I was chewing on dry meat ready to be added to a tomato sauce or something. It was extremely bland and absolutely no flavor. The fries were obviously Ore-Ida frozen style crinkle cut that you could tell they just shake onto the plate. Probably will not be returning here unless the much-better-quality nearby restaurants are overcrowded and we need a last resort in Shelton for some beers and wings. Oh well! read more

What a great little dive bar. Amazing chicken wings. Just three basic sauce options but all three were fabulous. The pizza is also very solid. We had the supreme and were very satisfied. The calzone wasn't my favorite. It was a little dull. The sauce served on the side didn't do much for me. The staff are all very pleasant and pour a solid whiskey on the rocks. Love the wings! I've tried so many other wing places and none compare to Porky's! The wings are crispy and not battered, and the buffalo sauce is awesome!! In the huge debate between Porky's and Danny O's i choose porky's. I usually order the wings but lately i have been pretty stuck on the buffalo chicken salad. I love the buffalo sauce its not too spicy but then again not too weak. Perfectly coated addition to my salad. The salad was large and very filing. I didn't stay for a drink as i had take out but most of the time this is my go to place for drinks on the weekends. I love the staff and have never had an issue here. In other words if you're looking for a place to hang with friends make it Porky's. read more

*Update 2* - Was here a few weeks back on a Sunny day and sat upstairs on the outdoor patio and had a great time. Also had a very cute and extremely helpful and attentive waitress which bumps this place up another star. *Update* - Went here today and the wings were markedly better, almost worth saying that they are now on par with Archie Moore's and on a bad day even better than! The bartender downstairs is EXTREMELY RUDE, this is now the second time where she has greeted us with "You guys got IDs?" instead of a more appropriate "Hello, welcome to Porky's. Do you guys mind if I check your IDs". Clearly valley educated, or maybe even a drop out. MANNERS. However the refreshing young bartender upstairs on the outdoor patio more than made up for the beeyatch downstairs. -- Orig Post - Meh. You can put a lick of paint on a place but if the staff continues to be as rude as it was when this place was just a biker bar then it's not going to appeal to the masses. Located in the heart of Shelton is a nice spot to stop in have a micro brew on tap and a basket of wings. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. During my first visit my fiancé and I went for a double date with our good friends. On our way to Porky's we had a gift in the car that we wanted to give to her future bridesmaid. I met with the waitress and told her if she could bring out the gift to surprise my sweethearts friend when I give her the "signal" (when I order another drink).... Let's just say it worked out well and really turned the night into one to remember over really good food. Although Porky's has been a staple of the community for many years, I find the service there to be terrible. I went there a few months ago and waited an hour to get a second drink. The servers literally walked past our table 50 times and didn't stop to ask if we needed anything. To compensate, we were given tokens to encourage us to return. This time, same thing happened. We love the food and the people, but we want better service. You've got to be able to do better. read more

Hole in the wall bar? Don't mind if I do. When I used to live in CT I would drive an hour for Porkys wings! They are so perfect! They're on the smaller side and cook up nice and crispy. The blue cheese is heavenly, its extra creamy and not quite as pungent/tangy as most bulk blue cheese dressings. You're not really coming here for ambiance, the service is fine, the interior is fine, it's clean. Leave your silver spoon at home, throw on a pair of jeans, let your hair down and enjoy a pitcher of beer and a big ol plate of wings. read more

My second time in and the food and service were top notch. Sat at the bar and was well taken of by Tanya. Started off with the baked stuffed clams which nowadays are next to impossible to find. They were sooo tasty. Must have been made fresh today. Stuffing was flavorful and screaming fresh. Followed up by some buffalo wings which put other competitors to shame. I went here a few weeks ago around christmas when my gf and I went to her parents house. Not very crowded- seemed kind of towny like. We had table service and our waitress was pretty attentive. She didn't leave me with a big impression which means she didn't suck but wasn't amazing. We did not have any food. Upstairs seemed like it could be a little bit more interesting and I did like that you could smoke on the patio. But there wasn't much going on up there either. Not being from the area this place wasn't my choice but I will be sure not to go back- there was nothing compelling me to leave my house and spend my money here! read more

Haven't been here often enough to be a fan. The Philly cheese-steak was awesome, but unexpectedly expensive. With Subway around the corner you'd expect the grinders to be a little more competitively priced. At almost 10$ out the door (a little over 9.50 after taxes) at least it came with fries, and pretty food fries at that. The price of the grinder stopped me from even asking about having a beer there. I don't consider this a "hole in the wall" really, at all. More of a bar yes. Somewhere in-between casual and upscale. read more

Recently renovated...went there for lunch recently and they only had one waitress for the friday lunch crowd, needless to say 2 hrs later when my sandwich came out I had to get it boxed to take back to work because the service was so slow. I'll also point out that my sandwich was given to a different table before I asked the waitress where my sandwich was, then she grabbed it off of their table. Ive heard great things about the food and the wings, I think my experience was an isolated incident and I plan on going back maybe in a few weeks. Need to try the wings! I am a wing guy and I have to say, so far these are the best wings in the valley. You won't find any fatty, soggy wings here. These are crispy and melt in your mouth with a swirl of flavor. The seating area is a little tight, but is easily overlooked due to it's fair prices snd delicious wings. The fries, pizza and Philly cheese steak egg rolls are also equally good! Located in downtown Shelton. Ordered the wings and eggplant parm grinder. Wings were tasty, not too spicy but kinda pricey. Eggplant grinder was very good but there was a sausage flavor to it. Not a fan personally, perhaps it's from the sauce? Service was good. Place was on the chilly side, needs more heat inside. I go to Porky's pretty regularly, not necessarily because I love it but because it's one of the better options downtown. The food is very good for bar food- I love the pizzas and in my opinion the wings are the best in the area. They are a little small, but the sauce more than makes up for it. The biggest problem with this place is the service. They aren't understaffed, it's just that the staff doesn't seem to want to be there or do their job. It's not uncommon to wait ten minutes for someone to come over to you when the bar only has a handful of people. The majority of the time, they are on their phones or talking to one another, not bothering to see who needs drinks or menus. It's unfortunate, because with good service this place could be on the top of everyone's list. read more

After coming to Porky's quite a few times, I could see where some of the bad reviews are coming from. Sure the space is kind of blah and you're not sure whether this is a bar or a family restaurant. But please, set that aside! The wings here are perfectly crisp and meaty, plus they do not skimp on the sauce (get half spicy Thai and half honey barbecue)! I came for the wings from reviews. There was only a few flavors and average quality, so I just don't get it. Nothing wrong with them but I can't see what the fuss is. The blue cheese did not seem home made and no celery was included. The sauce was thai and it was too sweet and tasted artificial. The service was ok. My drink was acceptable but not great. Went to Porkys last night. It's a good neighborhood bar with typical bar food. The poppers were really good, the cheese fries were ok, but we were really there for the wings. Excellent!
