We were turned away because my cousin is 20. If we were able to provide proof of guardianship, we would have been allowed in. Who walks into a restaurant with legal papers showing you are the guardian?? When we asked the waitress why we couldn't just eat, she was very dismissive, rude and did not explain why this is their rule, she simply stated "its a cafe liquor license". My husband and I have been here over a dozen times and have only been carded half of the time, and we've ordered alcohol everytime. Riddle me that. There has never been any expectation to be 21 to just walk in. All of a sudden we can't let a 20 year old just get lunch with a water? I'm sure they got themselves into an underage drinking disaster but that shouldn't affect everyone else. I understand the rules are written on the website, but we've never had an issue previously so why would I think to check if I needed to bring guardianship paperwork with me? The entire experience was bizarre and unappreciated. We will not be back ever.

When I received my order and went to sit down at one of the tables, I noticed how many customers were coming in for takeout instead of sitting down. Which is all good because within the hour or so I was there, 20 customers had came and went, smiling with enthusiasm about the delicious food they were about to enjoy?? I must say that the waffle was hot and fluffy and oozing with flavor from the melted butter and powdered sugar sprinkled on top. This is rivaled my homemade version of Belgians. The tenders were hot, juicy and crispy and were turned up a notch when I dipped into the hot sauce and mustard sauce. I also took an order home for my sister to enjoy.

I am writing this post in response to Amy H. specifically; I have been an employee at Porky's Cafe for over 12 years and find your review to be both presumptuous and offensive! I feel it appropriate to write the response as I was an employee during the "USED to be a great little bar" period, I was also working Friday night that you're referencing. In regards to the wings, if you do your homework you will find that the pricing of chicken wings are at all time high, with the increase in pricing we have also found a decrease in size. Unfortunately this factor is far beyond our control and hardly something to hold against us. I do apologize that you were charged an additional amount for the ranch dressing rather than blue cheese; if you had opted for that as an alternative you should not have been charged. Also, if you received your wings and felt that they weren't covered in enough sauce you could have simply asked any of the employees and we would have given you additional sauce (free of charge). Every bar has their set of rules and since I can remember we have not been able to "split" orders of wings between different sauces; the reasoning behind this is where we draw the line. If we started to split orders of wings we would then open the door for requests to have 2 of one sauce and 7 of another etc...our wings are pre-bagged in groups of 10 to expedite prep time in the kitchen. I apologize that you don't agree with it, but i would hardly consider it "cheap" on the owners part! I'm not quite sure how to respond to the other complaint, the watering down of drinks. I don't know if you have ever purchased a keg in your life, but if you have you would know that it's impossible to "add" water to it in order to water it down. Also, we open our bottles of wine (with a cork) in front of clients, also making it impossible to water them down. I'm not sure what kind of places you have been to but it's considered to be ILLEGAL to water drinks down. I do apologize that you won't be returning and that your visit was so unpleasant; it's a great bar with much to offer all of our customers! Lastly, the owner checks all of posts, on this site as well as others. I just wanted to write back to ensure our loyal customers that the things being written were opinionated and presumptuous; not factual! read more

Went there after the strawberry picking and just wanna give this place a try. I order beef burger the food just ok but the turn off part was the service. There were 3 tables and two ppl at the bar with only one server or bartender not so sure. I hate the fact that I have to walk to the bar to said we were ready to order and again when we were ready for check. She rather hang inside the bar, they should hire the floor server then. The namesake of the Archie Moore's chain IS NOT the famous boxer, Archie Moore. Instead, this Archie Moore was a restauranteur from 1890's New Haven. Today, there are five Archie Moore's restaurants named after THAT Archie Moore. Now that we cleared that up, let me tell you about the lunch three of us had at the Milford Archie Moore's. Quite simply, we had a blast! We were looking for a place that had a sports bar feel and would be televising the NY Giants-Green Bay Packers game. Well, that wasn't really an issue because most of the TVs at Archie's were broadcasting the game. Our dining room had one outlier of a TV that showed the Buffalo Bills- Tampa Bay Bucs game. I walked in at 12:30 and the dining room was not very crowded, but 45 minutes later every table was taken -a mix of small groups, couples, and families with children. That seems understandable when you take a look at Archie's menu, which is as broad and varied as one could possibly want. A visit to Archie's starts with the chicken wings they are famous for. There are nine flavors in six sizes of "with or without" bone varieties. After that, you'll be challenged to decide among their appetizers, nachos, sandwiches, grilled cheese, wraps, pizzas, burgers, salads, entrees, etc. Seriously, their menu would seem at home in a New Jersey or Long Island diner. We started off with a shared platter of ten boneless Garlic Parmesan wings ($14.99) and I have to say....they were amazing. Big meaty chunks of white meat with a crunchy coating and a delicious parmesan cheese dusted sauce. The three of us went with three burgers.... Well, sort of. My brother had a traditional burger with sweet potato French fries ($18.49), my nephew went with a special of the day- a double Smash Burger with fries ($17.50), and I had a Garden Salad ($10.50) with an added burger patty ($7.99). I have to point out that the burger added to my salad was a monster burger of "over a half pound of ground 100% premium beef". It was outstanding. Drinks were $6.95 for an Athletic NA beer and $5.75 for a Coors Light. Our server was a cheerful and helpful young lady named Sam who did a great job checking on us and filling the water glasses. There were plenty of leftovers at our table, and we had a thoroughly enjoyable visit to Archie's. Lunch for three with two beers ran $88.21 after tax and before tip.
