    Spaghetti Bolognese

After the amazing burger I had at Skylarks Hidden Cafe last summer I was looking forward to going back again. Since I love Spaghetti I decided to try the Spaghetti Bolognese this time, and I was not disappointed, my spaghetti was awesome, and the sourdough bread was really good dipped in the sauce. My friend ordered the Fish Wrap and that was also excellent, although she said it could have used more spice and flavor, so she asked for some hot sauce to add. My dinner was $25, so I think it should have come with a small dinner salad. We did order the fries has an appetizer and I have to say, Skylarks has the best fries, and the sauce is excellent. Our server was very attentive and friendly, and our dinners came out pretty fast, my meal was served hot, although the break was cold. I am looking forward to trying the brunch at Skylarks sometime soon. I also like to support establishments that have live music, and Skylark's is a huge supporter of the local music scene.

We had a group of 14 and they accommodated us very well. Everyone's food came out quickly and was delicious. I heard the bbq sliders were dry, but that was the only complaint. Would love to come back if I'm ever in the area.

Arrived for brunch on a Sunday. We had made reservations, but there was a ton of seating available. Skylark's is right in Fairhaven, great location. Really cool old bar when you walk in, ample seating. I ordered the fish and chips, was good, not fantastic. My daughter had the breakfast burrito, and her friend had the chicken sandwich. Overall good food, not fantastic, but good. Prices are a bit high, maybe because of the location? We ordered the toasted banana bread which was two slices, and it was $10! Service was good.

This place was one of the best for me! I had the Clams, and it was perfect for not only the clams themselves, but the sourdough bread-which was delicious when dipped in the clam butter. It also had quite the homey vibe, with the nice paintings and beautiful wood furniture. Our server was quite nice as well. The only drawback is the clam service, which was prone to spilling.

I've been to Skylarks a few times, and it's a good restaurant. Sometimes when it's really busy the service can be a bit slow bordering on annoying, but that is not because the staff is not trying. They just have too much to do, and I would venture to guess that the kitchen is small. That being said, the food is good, the prices not outrageous and the staff friendly and approachable. When the weather is nice they also have a large hidden outside seating area, but even if the weather is bad they have two rooms with very different feel. I would not make a special trip to go here, but if I'm in Fairhaven, I'm happy to go here.

Bellingham is a wonderful place for a day trip. And we found this place by chance. Great workers but I'm sure they were short staffed. The food was great. My husband enjoyed the clam chowder lots of clams and good flavor. The chicken and waffles were are yummy. As well as the fish and chips. Good selection of drinks and beers on tap.

Scallop appetizer. Great sear and melted in my mouth

Charming place with a fireplace and antiques. As a traveler, I seek out scallops because they're my favorite and this place totally hit the mark. Seared perfectly and melted in my mouth. Would definitely come back for the scallops. Also had the clam chowder which was pleasantly delicious.

Wonderful food and drinks. I started with oyster shooters (Willapa Bay) along with a Lion's Tail cocktail. Sierra said the bourbon and lime complement each other. I wouldn't have thought so and thought it a bit of an odd choice. But she was right and I was wrong: it was fabulous. One of the most delicious drinks I've ever had, for my tastes. She gave me several recommendations for dinner. I picked the Jalapeño Chicken. It was luscious and flavorful, but the best part of it was my choice of Balsamic Brussels sprouts as my side--oh my! These were so delicious I ordered two more batches to have at home. Lovely espresso martini to end it all.

We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess at a table in DT Fairhaven, and our server was the bartender. After being seated, we waited a long time without anyone taking our order. We eventually asked if we had a server and were told it was him, with no apology or explanation. We ordered drinks and food, but after more than 40 minutes, we noticed two tables seated after us had already been served, finished eating, and were leaving. At that point, we asked for the check and said we would not be staying. About 15 minutes later, the server returned with our food instead of the check. We declined the meal and sent it back. He then asked if we wanted it boxed to go, which we also declined. His reaction suggested frustration rather than understanding. We never got to try the food, so we can't comment on it. The service, however, was well below expectations given the restaurant's reputation. This was lunch on July 15, 2026. We may try The Black Cat again in the future, hoping this was just an off day.

There is some outdoor seating for those warm summer evenings. The service was fine. The drinks were also fine and fairly priced. The menu choices are fairly limited, and the entrees are all on the pricey side, especially the scallops. We shared the ricotta & toast appetizer and the chicken liver mousse. The ricotta consistency was very soft, almost whipped and needed salt, but there was no salt or pepper on the tables. The flavor of the chicken liver dish, under a rather thick layer of fat, was excellent; however, "mousse" is supposed to be soft but this was so cold that it was hard. Both items were served with an inadequate portion of toasted baguette which insured that more had to be ordered! Still, taste-wise, this and the duck fries were the hit of the night. The 4 beautifully large scallops were partially undercooked, the burgers came topped with "sauce chien" (dog sauce) with no warning that it might be too spicy for some, and the "creative" duck confit, left me wishing for the "classic" preparation! I don't see a return visit for us.

The dining room was elegant yet cozy, with great lighting. The staff was also very friendly and our waiter was very helpful in aiding our choice. We ordered the Focaccia bread, the salmon momtadito and the tonnarelli as our entree. The focaccia was the only dissapointing item as it was very basic in my opinion, which isn't bad but just nothing exciting to write about. The appetizer, the salmon montadito, was probably my favorite item of the night. It was served on focaccia bread and drizzled with a truffle honey butter and sat upon a mascarapone yogurt. It was elegant and it was incredibly flavorful. The sweetness of the truffle honey butter was a great contrast to the salmon itself, and all melted together to make an exceptional appetizer. The tonnarelli was a pasta dish we split and was also very tasty. The pasta itself was a thicker spaghetti like pasta served with plenty of crab. It was tasty and it satisfied and I'd likely order it again as I will be back when my sister's visit. All in all, a great restaurant to spend a nice night right in the heart of Bellingham!

We came in for an early dinner so we were really able to enjoy the rustic ambience of this restaurant all by ourselves. As soon as we sat down the waitress was attentive and ready to take our order. I order the garden party off their cocktail menu. Snap pea gin, bay leaf vermouth, genepy, saline and pea shoot? I really was feeling adventurous with this one, a regrettable mistake. The first sip I thought I was drinking sea water with a touch of olive oil in it. I never send back drinks although I was close with this one, I sipped it throughout my meal. One critique I have about the cocktail menu is that every drink was over complicated with many exotic ingredients. There was nothing for someone who was looking for a simple craft cocktail. The table shared the Strawberry Panzanella, and once again I was accosted by an overwhelming salty and sour flavor. A traditional Italian salad consisting of grilled strawberry and focaccia croutons. The lemon vinaigrette dressing on this salad was salty and sour, and very overpowering. Unlike my drink we were unable to finish this one. I ordered the Roe Burger, which I had been really looking forward to trying, thankfully this one did not disappoint. Two smash burger patties that were thin, crispy, and cooked to perfection with slices of cheddar cheese on top are then placed on a bed of classic burger toppings. Tomato, pickles, and iceberg lettuce. This burger was served with crispy fries and garlic aioli. After my fist few bites my mind was beginning to change about this restaurant. We also shared the Reuben Croquettes. A super creative and unique spin on one of my personal favorite appetizers. These little fried pocket were filled with a delicious mixture of cheese and shredded corned beef. They were garnished with a small slice of pickle which was a great touch. For dessert we decided to try the hazelnut torte which was fantastic. It had a nice crisp outer layer with a soft gooey center. Lovely flavor and texture that ended our experience at Roe wonderfully. In conclusion our experience at Roe had its ups and downs but I left feeling satisfied. If you are looking for a unique culinary experience I would give this restaurant a try.
