Oh my gosh...but I digress... A few weeks ago, while staying overnight, I took my brother-in-law to dinner at Keenan's. He dislikes...a lot. Forgive me, but one of his "super powers" seems to be in finding fault in any even somewhat nice restaurant. Something is always wrong with the food, the prices, and/or the service...yeah...but wait! Monty ate every bite and (wait for it...) did not complain once! Alert the media! Oh, happy day!! Okay, more details... I have had the pleasure of eating at Keenan's both in person at the restaurant and via their room service many times. BOTH ARE AMAZING! Their room service breakfasts are incredible! How they make their omelets as light and yet filling, EVEN WHEN DELIVERED to my lovely hotel room, is beyond me! Order their fruit, too, whatever it is they offer, order it. It will always be a beautifully flavorful addition to your meal. I can promise you your food will show up, even with room service, well-seasoned and ready to devour! Their dinners? WOW! I have had so many of their entrees, and each one is incredible. Their scallops are always perfect. Again, seasoned so that it complements the scallops without overpowering them. Their rib-eye is incredibly tender while still being cooked medium-rare, yay! And, their duck...oh my gosh! Hurray! I have to add, check their specials. I have never been steered wrong. Of course, a meal is almost as much affected by the service as by the food, right? They will treat you like a VIP, no matter who you are or what you order. How cool is that? We always love Keenan's (we've been many times over the years but always just come for drinks and apps). The view truly can't be beat and the staff is so kind and sweet! My husband loves their ball and a bat (shot with a beer) and I love the cocktails, wine selection, and they make a great Arnold palmer. I love that they have games in their sitting area of the hotel that you can take to your table- like codenames. The truffle fries are sooo good and the portion size is huge! The melon salad with mint vinaigrette (no photo) and fried pancetta was remarkable. While I would normally only provide 4 stars for a venue like this, they exceed expectations given their location. The food is another story. We expected more of the restaurant within the Chrysalis. The service was good, but the actual food? Don't bother. Actually the house salad was quite good- served with pecorino, shaved asparagus, pine nuts - and perfectly dressed. The falafel was another story - extra large balls with a hard exterior and gummy interior. Served with feta (why?), hummus, and waaaaay too much paprika. We came here for a birthday dinner. Our meals were hit and miss. The wild boar with pumpkin gnocchi was delicious. Very unique flavors I would never imagine putting together but worked. Crab cakes were crunchy on outside and tasty in the middle (not "fishy" as some crab cakes can be). However the ribeye was awful. It was thin, tough, chewy, overcooked and overly priced. May 14,2026 We tried to go to Keenan's restaurant tonight for our 49th wedding anniversary dinner. Initially, I made the reservation, yesterday, for outside. I called back a 1/2 hour later and changed it for the inside. When we got there this afternoon, Abby led us to a tiny little table in the room with no view, no warm atmosphere. We asked her if we could be seated at a table by the window with a lovely view of the water. She said she couldn't because this was the only table she could seat us at since I had changed the reservation from the outside to the inside. And the table with the water view was for a party of at least 3 people. The restaurant was completely EMPTY. We left and went to the hotel bellwether restaurant. Great ambiance and stellar staff! The view is great. The food is okay... I ordered the seafood chowder to start, which was good but nothing special. I got the mahi mahi as an entree, which was disappointing. The "lemongrass rice" had absolutely no flavor, and was mushy. The broccolini was under-done, un-flavorful, and hard. The mahi mahi clearly didn't have any kind of spice or seasoning, it was just a piece of cooked fish, which was fine I guess. The mango salsa was good, but nothing special. My mom got the halibut which she said was incredibly dry. Our server was rather abrupt...she wasn't rude per se, she just seemed very rushed which would have been understandable if the place was packed, but we went early and seemed to be the only table she was serving. Ultimately, the experience was fine, but at a $45 per plate price tag, totally not worth it. The food took 30+ mins to come out when there was just one or two other tables. 3 out of the 4 plates we ordered were half covered in the most unappetizing burnt, mushy, overcooked and stale "rosemary potatoes". They looked and tasted like the bottom leftover potatoes from cheap hotel breakfast buffet at 11AM when they've been sitting in the warmer since 6AM. Everything else was just a tad bit underwhelming, definitely a mismatch to the stunning pier view and upscale resort setting. 5 stars for view, 2 stars for service, 1 star for food. read more

I had Dungeness crab soup and the garbanzo bean burger, both were just ok, the soup was really thin and the burger kept falling apart. For a higher end restaurant I expected the textures and consistency to be on point but it wasn't. Our waitress was friendly and patient since we were with our toddler, the restaurant is designed really comfy and rustic with all the wood elements with the water as the view from every seat. What a great spot to eat!! We stopped in for lunch on our way to Vancouver and we were quite delighted by our decision. The food was amazing. Started with the falafel . You must try it. Homemade with chunks of chick peas mixed in, so delicious. I ordered the ahi poke bowl also very good . The ahi was fresh and did not disappoint. Our group also tried the fish and chips and it was amazing as well. The view of the ocean from any table is spectacular. And the service was impressive. Nice views but not at all worth the price. The service was great but the food was the issue. My wife ordered the scallop linguine which tasted like it had way too much lemon. It was virtually inedible with a giant clump of unattractive, green, mushy parsley on top. Not worth the money they charged for it. The schnitzel was better but not worth the price. You know it's bad when someone says they'd rather have a Costco hot dog. I think this place needs to reevaluate who is preparing or designing these dishes. Less over powering flavors and focusing on the delicious seafood this region has to offer. I would have had the halibut but fennel is way too much for that fish. I have always liked Keenan's. I often thought they have the best Eggs Benedict in town. Yesterday removed all doubt. My order arrived and my experience began. The hollandaise sauce was a stunning balance of flavors; just enough lemon, not too much vinegar. It would have made The Mona Lisa smile even greater. Then there was the egg.... Oh my, what an exceptionally well-poached egg! Never have I had a better prepared embryo. Proudly perched on top, it provided a luxurious flow of yolk for the delectable, nicely seasoned potatoes. Even the English muffin was cooperating. Lightly toasted, it was the perfect platform for all this goodness. I don't expect to receive such a wonderful creation on every visit, but I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of today's masterpiece! If this had been a diving competition, the judges would have awarded a perfect score of "10". I'm certain even Gordon Ramsay would have been impressed. My taste buds are still applauding. My husband took me here for my birthday, I had been to Keenan's for brunch but this was the first time we'd been for dinner. I appreciated that they were able to seat us so quickly, especially on a Saturday night, and it was lovely to sit on the patio with a view of the bay. Our server seemed either unsure or inexperienced, and unable to answer any questions we had regarding the food or drink menu. We tried to order the crab cakes as an appetizer and our server told us they were out - this was at 6:30pm, which seemed surprising that they would run out so quickly. Cocktails and bread were good, but noone came by to clear our table of appetizer dishes or drinks, and I had to ask for water refills a couple of times. Our food took a very long time to come out, and while it tasted good, it was not extraordinary. The steak was ok, but the broccolini was burned. The black cod was excellent but the broth was extremely salty (and I usually love salt) so I could not finish it. As a former server myself, I understand Saturday nights can be busy or off, but all in all, I expected a lot more from a higher end Bellingham restaurant and ended up pretty disappointed. read more

I'll start with the food. Mediocre and it would be very helpful for the wait staff to be familiar with the food they serve rather than having to go and ask. Service awful. In fact, waitress actually told me to pour the wine since she spilled it on my shoes. Asking for a decanter was a "big ask" which seems odd. My Mexican friends and I felt discriminated against every one else was getting great service and our waitress poured their wine but barely checked in on us. Last straw, poor service equals poor tip but to be confronted about it twice is shy of bullying. I don't have to tip just like you don't have to pour my wine or be nice to me and my guests if we aren't white. I will never return. Upper class means having class. read more
