We were in Cape May this past weekend visiting friends and we were looking for a place to get drinks and some appetizers before going back to their beach house for dinner. The winery was having a wedding so that didn't work out - we drove to the relatively new Port Marina and were surprised by the many cars in the large parking area and were concerned we might not be able to get a table. To our surprise, we were seated immediately and discovered they have A LOT of seating from a front deck area with high tops, to tables along the covered bar area, to tables and couch arrangement on the open air back deck. Many options for places to sit and we were so glad we chose the couches which also had a lovely view of the water and were protected by a glass from the wind which was picking up. It was also not very loud on the back deck (the bar area was definitely much louder with the music). The mocktail (strawberry basil sangria) was delicious and the other drinks were also very good. We enjoyed the: Local sea scallops - 4/5, large fresh scallops, the corn puree was just okay Ceviche - 5/5, we weren't sure what kind of fish but it was very fresh and came with tortilla chips (could have used a few more to scoop up the remnants) Port french fries - 4/5, solid thin cut fries, the dijon aioli was just okay Caterpillar roll - 5/5, excellent sushi with 8 pieces We'll definitely had back to Port Marina the next time we're looking for a nice place to eat outdoors for lunch or for appetizers in Cape May. read more

Did not eat there. 2.5 hour wait standing outside as no bar space or tables as many just went to bars and ate while waiting. Not a dining spot, just booze and apps and the food did not appears to be anything special. I waited 10 minutes to get ON the list in the first place. We had driven up from FL to see friends in the harbor after 3 years of not seeing them. Additional folks down from Bucks County Came by dingy looking for a table for 8. We were not even going to get a table for 8, just two tables not even at the same time and likely not near each other!!! They really don't need or want our business. Not welcoming or diner oriented. Just an expensive overpriced yuppy/millennial/GenZ Tesla or Mercedes key fob dangling crowd. (wink) Moronic and stupid busy. Checked out Port Marina after seeing it a bunch of times on social media! For a Saturday evening at prime dinner time, we waited about an hour for our table (which we expected!). Although long, we enjoyed being able to see where we were in the line via Toast website. Lots of space to wait by the docks- saw some people waiting by grabbing a drink from the bar. Once seated we got all our food in a very reasonable amount of time given how busy it was. We started with the whipped feta and pita which was delicious. The food and drinks were wonderful- price wise it definitely seemed comparable to many other restaurants in the area. It started to rain a little and the staff did their best to make sure tables had coverage! Visiting from South Florida (originally from NJ before anyone comes at me), and my family (who still lives in NJ and owns a vacation home down here) thought it'd be fun to give Port a try, since Harbor View didn't have a host which was frustrating. *Let's start with wait time: Told 45 mins at 6pm, waited 1.25hrs. By the end of our meal, left at almost 9:30pm. *Seated at a standard table, but if you don't want to sit in a low couch with coffee table to eat your meal, make sure you mention that because the hosts will not ask you and you'll receive first available. I guess we got lucky! *Drinks & Service: 20 mins for a server to acknowledge us. 25 mins to bring our drinks after not one, not two but three promises that she was 'going to get them right now.' Our order was also incorrect with 1 of 3 dishes wrong... twice. Also this is no craft cocktail bar - if you can't make a proper drink, leave it off the menu vs charging an amount I would expect at a nice hotel or cocktail bar. *Food: The chowder was good - full stop. Burgers came out WITH soup so we sent the burgers back, obviously. All tables were served this way, so if you don't like your appetizer WITH your meal, don't order your meal because the servers don't know how to time out food to fire. The "Smash Burger," for $22 was abysmal. Two, commercial patties (you know what I mean, perfectly formed patties from a grocery store), cold thin white cheese and a hard brioche. Not smashed, just layered dry well-done gray burgers. The random mustard that came out was so old it had a skin on it because they kept it under lights for so long. Q: Why is there lobster caviar fries on the menu for $60 and caviar on the menu for $100++. No one wants that. Bottom line: This was a HORRIBLE experience. I spoke with a manager which resulted in a % off our bill which wasn't the point. - point is we were lied to since the second we were seated by 2 managers (allegedly), and our server. (Also, while trying to speak with said manager, some drunk woman who seated herself with her friend at random couches interjected. Seriously?) I see what you're trying to do here with the Miami FF&E vibe - but sorry guys, it's pretty, but this is not it. You're a dockside bar in south Jersey and that's what people WANT. Revise your menu & adjust your pricing to reflect, especially if you're going to offer mediocre to bad food and similar drinks. At least transform this great location into a spot to enjoy the sunset and a view of the water with a beer and edible simple appetizers for under $50/person. Good luck. read more

i would like to start off by saying this resturant is located in a beautiful area. They had nice music playing in the background. it was very busy when we went, but it was not suffocatingly packed. We sat by the water, on the covered deck. The Smash burger was probably the best dish out of the three. the cheese was creamy and the special sauce gave it more flavor. it was like eating a fancier big mac. the fries were decent. The calamari was disappointing. for the price, we only got a handful and they were very heavy on the breading. For sushi, the fish to rice ratio was good, with a good amount of fish and not too much rice. however, it was nothing mind blowing. It is very pretty to look at though. The service was great! our server was very friendly and checked on us to ask if everything was good. they gave our food to the table next to us at first.. luckily they didn't eat it yet! this was a fun and nice experience for our anniversary! read more

We were a group of six and it was our second time at the Port. Our first visit was a year ago and that had been wonderful. This visit, not so much. It was busy and we were seated outside. Two people in out party ordered the special and they were told, after a good while, that it was not available. I tried to order two drinks from the menu and they were out of them. One of the soups came with no spoon, so my husband ate it with a fork because we couldn't find our waiter. Luckily, it was a chowder! Speaking of flatware, we were short two knives. I ordered the corn avocado salad. It it advertised as having roasted chickpeas. There was not one chickpea in the salad. We told our waiter and he just kind of shrugged his shoulders. Didn't offer to take it back or make it right. It was as if this sort of thing happened all the time and he didn't care. So, basically I paid $18 for a bowl of lettuce with a few tomatoes, pieces of corn and some avocado. I think they need to spend more time training their staff on customer service because this customer is not likely to return. Also, they need a wider selection of non- alcoholic beer and mocktails, of which they offered none. It's a shame. Great location but poor management. read more

AMAZING! We've gone here a few times as we come for a long time during the summer so we have chances to go many of times. We love it here. The food has never disappointed (and most of the times the first time you go it's really good and the second time it's just ok). The ambiance is amazing! love the vibe here and the over all look. The food option for the dog is the best. Our family tends to just get a bunch to share instead of appetizers and entrees, which is definitely the way to go with the sushi and all. The drinks are good too. The people are all very nice. Food comes very quickly. This is definitely a place for younger people just a heads up. I ate at Port Marina for the first time last night and my experience was mixed at best. Upon arriving at Port I felt that the ambience was beautiful and the decor was modern and chic. It felt like a young cool vibe for a Saturday night which is exactly what my friends and I were looking for. Unfortunately, we felt that the indoor menu was incredibly limited compared to the outdoor menu, and were disappointed that we weren't able to choose between indoor and outdoor seating on open table and the option wasn't presented to us by the hosts either. (If it was full that's fine, but would have loved the option!) The chefs oysters were good flavor-wise but a little gritty, the mushroom dish was salty, and the rice on the sushi was very thick. My friend and I shared the 18 oz rib eye which tasted very good and we loved the sauce that came with it but it was unfortunately extremely fatty and we didn't feel as though it was actually 18 oz. The mash potatoes were like gluey soup underneath the bok choy and there was almost none of it. The drinks were good especially the SS Spritz and the grapefruit mocktail! Our waiter was nice but not the most attentive. We consistently had dirty dishes and silverware and our needs were not always anticipated (we had to ask for water refills, sharing plates, and steak knives when our steak came.) We were never asked if we wanted another round of drinks. Our food also did not all come out together and affected the flow of the experience! We ordered: -drink with egg white (decent) -local lager (flat and gross) -shrimp app (over cooked) -gnocchi -vodka pasta Both the main dishes were flavorful but the lobster in the vodka pasta was overdone. Both dishes were north of $60 a piece and neither dish came with anything not even a piece of bread. That's right pasta dishes with no bread. Another oddity was half through our meal they started playing some oddly placed electric dance music. The decor would warrant some classical or big band music (great gatsby esq). As a person with multiple TBIs this ruined my dinner experience. If I wanted a club vibe I wouldn't go to Cape May NJ. This is a perfect place for people between the age of 21-28. We came. We saw. I can't rave about Port Marina more! They absolutely nailed the vibe with the decor and furniture, the perfect vibe for a beautiful day out on the water with delicious cocktails and food. The orange crush is made with fresh pressed orange juice and was perfect for sipping out in the sun. But the real star of the show is the food. We started with the chowder and steamed clams, both packed with flavor. For entrees I had the lobster roll with warm butter that was full of plump fresh lobster meat and the bun was perfectly toasted and buttery. And the fries come with honey mustard which adds major bonus points from a non-ketchup lover. My boyfriend had the burrata flatbread which was also delicious. My husband and I have been visiting and vacationing in Cape May for the past 28 years. We were very impressed with the new harbor restaurant that opened in the summer. The Port Marina is a GEM that everyone should visit. The ambiance is top notch, the food and drinks are delicious and abundant, the service is amazing and the managers are super amicable. We enjoyed our lunch to the fullest overlooking the beautiful view. I highly recommend the spicy crunchy tuna rolls. We will definitely come back every time we come to Cape May. My first review and feel it's necessary because I've never had an experience where I ordered a rainbow roll that came without the "fresh crab"... twice. The waitress seemed confused and said she "didn't know" and was trusting the sushi chefs who said it was made correctly. She was nice but still charged the $22 for a roll that should have been half the price without crab. Ambience also appreciated since it's in the marina. I would only recommend for drinks and a view. I ordered a lobster roll & didn't think I had to specify between that or the sushi but sure enough that's what they brought out, so then I had to wait while the others in my party got their food. One of the others didn't get their soup until the meal came out either. Not to mention the lobster roll didn't specify that it came with fries while other sandwiches did, so I ordered the $16 "truffle parm" fries which were lukewarm, tossed in a little bit of oil with a small bit of shredded parm tossed on top.
