See, mine was a very complex case. I had jaw reconstruction surgery due to cancer and was left with a severe underbite, and my remaining teeth shifted lightning-fast with no teeth on my lower left jaw. To have additional surgery and prosthetics, I trusted Dr. Pair's work. Not only did he explain his course of treatment in terms I understood, but he was also one of my greatest advocates when my team of surgeons had varying opinions. Dr. Pair regularly assured me that "he had my back (and teeth)." And he really did! Also, as a woman in her mid-50s, he and his entire office welcomed me with open arms and warmth. Every visit was filled with smiles, laughter, and the sharing of great life stories. For a moment in time (two years, to be exact), I was part of the Pair family, and it felt great! Not only did you feel the staff enjoyed being there and working for Dr. Pair, but they also enjoyed being part of their patient's journey(s). The good vibes from the office were truly palpable. I was also uncomfortable with some hygiene practices during the visit, as the assistant's hair repeatedly touched my children's faces and the scanner sleeve was removed before being placed in my child's mouth. In my experience, pediatric dental visits should involve patience, calm communication, and reassurance for children. Dr. Maryamian presented several options, with the least expensive being quoted at $8,500. Something did not feel right, so for the first time in my life, I sought a second opinion from another dentist in the area. That decision proved important. The second dentist confirmed that I do not need additional treatments beyond what was initially recommended, and I will now be receiving the same treatment for approximately $4,000--more than 50% less than what Dr. Maryamian's office quoted. In addition, I was the last patient of the day, and when I attempted to ask follow‑up questions about the treatment and cost, the receptionist informed me that she needed to leave to get home to her family, effectively ending the conversation. Given the financial and medical significance of the proposed work, this felt unprofessional and dismissive. I have had the same dentist for most of my life and have never questioned costs related to my dental health. At nearly 50 years old, this experience was a stark reminder that not all dental practices approach care with the same transparency and consideration for a patient's financial circumstances. Based on this experience, I would strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before committing to expensive treatment plans from this office.
