Found this place while Dashing. It's a quaint store front shop. It was loaded with some wrestling memorabilia but a lot more supporting local youth team. I ordered the two hot dog special that comes with fries and a drink, I was able to get one of my favorite drinks, red crème soda. Before I settled down my food was ready quickly. The hot dog was a natural casing dog which I loved. The hot dog had a good snap. It had all the trimmings of a Chicago Style hot dog and all of the trimmings was fresh. I love the fact that they wrap the dogs to stay warmer. The fries on the other hand were underwhelming. They were hot and crispy but lacked a good potato flavor. Overall, the only drawbacks were the fries and cost of the two hot dog special. I think it was one of the most expensive hot dog combos I had this year.

The food was great. I had a chopped cheese sandwich. I'm from Chicago and would definitely come back for another one. The service was great the guys behind the counter were very nice and polite. The place itself was very clean.

    Fries... delicious fries.

We took a drive out to visit the mother in law the weekend before Christmas and realized we were all starving a little around 1 pm. My husband worked in the place where Josh's is located back in the 80's... long before it became Josh's. We walked in and found it to be clean (I used the bathroom, which is how I judge how clean the place is... the bathroom was clean and smelled nice)... we ordered a couple dogs, and some fries. Everything was really good. The hubs and teens were happy with their lunch. Service was quick and done with a smile! While we were eating, an employee walked over to our table and said he realized he over-charged us and gave my husband change. We never would have known and appreciated his gesture. Next time we are out that way, we will have to grab some dogs!

Huge fan of Josh's in Northbrook. I've tried a couple things from their menu from the chicken gyro, spicy gyro, hotdog, the spicy polish and their chopped cheese, yes they have a chopped cheese here. What once I thought I could only get from New York, I now am able to get here and it honestly is me favorite thing on the menu. On top of that, being a huge Wrestling Fan, I love the pictures with all superstars the owner (I'm assuming) has met, a wrestling belt and a couple of wrestling figures. Is one of my go to spots for a quick eat in Northbrook but if you go on a weekday during lunch hours, expect it to be a bit busy! 5 all day!!!!

Perfect blend of the Chicago style on a warm poppyseed bun. Dog snapped with my biting in fries were super hot and with a bottled soda all for $11 including tax

    The sandwich.

If rating the hot dog meat by itself, five stars. Skin on, pops when you bite it, perfect. Unfortunately the hot dog as a sandwich is a complete fail here. Bun was hard and crusty, stale tasting. Not steamed, but instead just off a shelf. Ruined the enitre hot dog. Fries. As fries by themselves, were good. But are not thbrkind you expect at a hot dog place. Instead like McDonald's style. So, not really good match with hot dog. I grew in the area and happened to be back in town after twenty years. I remember this place for my entire childhood under the founder and original owner. This iteration under a new name is not even close. Although it's more expensive, I recommend Little Louie's in same town. Like here, that place too has changed ownership. But it retains all the good things it had under the original version.

Decent fast food, but on the pricey side, in comparison to other local eateries. Nothing was exceptional on my visits there.

We live just a mile away from Superdawg and just went here with our 4-year-old son, who calls it "hot dogs on the roof." Whenever I'm hungry for a Chicago dog and delicious fries, I immediately head to Superdawg to satisfy my craving. There is no other place like it, and it's a true Chicago establishment. I like that there are options for where you can eat. You can eat in your car and have the car hop bring you food. You can eat outside at the picnic tables. Or you can order inside and eat in their dining area. I also just found out that they provide catering! Superdawg will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope that it remains open for generations to come.

It was almost 11pm (they're open until 2am on Fridays.) and there were at least a dozen other vehicles in their drive-in stalls. Ordered their specialties, a Superdawg and Whoopskidawg with Superfries, Chocolate Super Malt and Black Kows. Service was fast and friendly at 11pm on a Friday. We were eating in our rental car in apx 10 min. It was cool to eat outside on a warm July night in a classic, 1950s style drive-in. The food was excellent, flavorful and fresh. I normally avoid krinkle cut fries because they are usually frozen and mushy or mealy. Not Superfries. These fresh cut fries were practically fried mashed potatoes. We loved them! The drinks were perfect. The Black Kows is basically a root beer float and served with an extra root beer "sidecar." Our only complaints were about errors with the garnishes. We specifically said we wanted all the garnishes on both dawgs and they only gave us the standard grilled onions on the Whoopskidawg and forgot the sport peppers on the Superdawg. Otherwise we loved everything. We might go back next week (before we fly home) because I really want to try their Whoopercheesie Burger and maybe a Supersundae. (Menu Descriptions/Prices) Superdawg Not a wiener - not a frankfurter - not a red hot - but our exclusive... Superdawg™. On a poppy seed bun, we tenderly place the loveliest, juiciest creation of pure beef hot dog (no pork, no veal, no cereal, no filler), formally dressed with all the trimmings, escorted by our often imitated, but never equaled, Superfries™. Served with all the trimmings - golden mustard, tangy piccalilli, kosher dill pickle, chopped Spanish onions and a memorable hot pepper. $9.30 Whoopskidawg Our char-broiled version of a Romanian, Hungarian, Polish sausage; basted in our special sauce, and served on a Whoopskiroll™, with grilled onion and a pickle. $12.05 Superfries For extra pleasure an extra measure of Superfries™. $4.35 or $6.95 - Try 'em with cheese! Supermalts and Supershakes A full pint of smooth creamy refreshment so thick we put straws in them only to prove that you can't draw them through. (We will gladly thin them down, if you prefer them that way.) Flavors: double rich chocolate, mellow vanilla, real-fruit strawberry or pineapple. $5.80 - Regular $7.10 - Large Black Kows A beverage--a dessert--a snack. Chunks of ice cream floating in a foamy sea of root beer. You can drink it. You can eat it. You can do both at once. $6.20

They will char your dog on the flat top grill they use for the it grilled onions for the Maxwell St. polish. 3. 4 mini supreme tamales instead of one large tamale. My coworkers here…read moresaid if I liked this, they've had better, but Portillo's set the bar high enough that I doubt it. Something about being in Chicago and taking hot dogs this seriously just hits different. I went three times to work through the menu properly. The jumbo hot dog might be the best hot dog I've ever had. Everything came together: the sport peppers, the snap of the dog itself, and a poppy seed bun I'd never had on a hot dog before. It just worked. The chili dog was a letdown by comparison. The hot dog itself tasted flat and boring under the chili, which is a shame after how good the jumbo was. The cheeseburger is underrated. Good char, really tasty, and the Comeback sauce pulled it all together. I got the fries too, which were pretty good dipped in the Comeback sauce, though nothing to really write home about. Shakes were a mixed bag. The chocolate shake was excellent. I actually meant to order a regular Dr Pepper shake, but ended up with the Dr Pepper cake shake by mistake. Too many flavors and textures fighting each other in one cup, not for me. Heads up if you order shakes here: the large size is genuinely large. Still, this is my go-to spot in Chicago now. The photos from the 1960s, showing the owners then and now, give the place a deep sense of tradition and pride in building something from the ground up. The memorabilia throughout the restaurant is fantastic, and there is plenty of space if you are coming in with a large group. The food lives up to the reputation. The Chicago dog is fantastic and fully authentic, loaded with the right peppers, onion, and pickle. The only minor bump was that we ordered to dine in, but the order came out in to-go packaging. Wrapped up like that, the steam got to the bun and softened it a bit more than if it had been served open on a tray, which took a little away from the texture. Even with that, it was still a very good dog. For the side, ordering the fries well-done on the self-service kiosk is a huge plus. They came out crisp and tasty, though in the fast-casual fry hierarchy, Culver's still holds the crown. Overall, it is a great spot with rich local heritage, generous seating, and solid staple items. I will definitely be back.
