I haven't yet made it to the Biddeford Portland Pie Co. but I have ordered delivery multiple times and every time I love the food and service. I'm excited to make it to the restaurant because from what I hear, service and environment are great, but I am making this review based on delivery alone at this time. We have been to this location a few times prior to this visit and we were always pleased. Last night they were very busy and the kitchen was very behind. Although we were having a good time (seated in minutes when initially told up to 45 minute wait), it was obvious that we were not impressed with the time it took to get our meal. The manager quickly came up to us to apologize and make things right with us. We were very impressed and will definitely go back. On a business trip this place was recommended by the hotel staff as their favorite pizza place. Ordered a traditional canzone (the "Nonesuch calzone") with a beer dough, which was excellent. I was also delighted with the house salad, which had an unexpectedly robust collection of ingredients. The environment is energetic but still comfortable and prices seemed reasonable. Food is great and love the gluten free options. Service is not that attentive. Have gone multiple times on Sunday at 5, Saturday night at 7, and a couple of other times but it always takes 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours to finish the meal. We order an app and pizza or just pizza and we haven't been able to get out any quicker. The servers also don't pay attention to your table unless they are delivering food or drink. Love the food, wish it was quicker especially with young kids. Will have to maybe just do take out. read more

Every time I've gone the service is absolutely terrible. The host and the servers must never talk because they never seem to know what's going on. I once got sat at a table in a section that had no waitress. Waited forever. Every other time the wait has also been long for the food which is over-priced and mediocre at best. Best time to go is after 9pm when slices are $1 and you can enjoy some alcohol to make up for the awful service. read more

Very disappointed with our experience at Portland Pie Co. Last night. We went there with another couple and we were not impressed with the food, service and the cleanliness of this restaurant. No one there to greet and seat us. A sign at the take out register said to see bar tender for seating. No one at the bar! After a few minutes my wife waves me over to the front of the restaurant, she found someone to seat us. The place was not busy when we got there and there were many empty tables that had not been cleaned. We were sat at a table that needed cleaning and when the table was wiped down it was left very wet. Our waitress finally came over after a few minutes and as far as a waitress goes she did not have a clue! Obviously no proper training or she just did not get it. We placed our orders and waited 30 minutes at least to get served. Our Pizza arrived warm and did not taste as good as Pizza's we had at their other location in Scarborough Maine. The Cesar salad was the worst one I ever had and my Draught beer was flat. As we start to eat the restaurant got very busy. A table behind us let there little boy of about 4yrs. of age run around like the was the playground. The couple that we were with said that the food was ok after I asked, but their tone and expression clearly said otherwise. Very dissatisfied because we did not enjoy this meal at all and the $5 off coupon did not compensate. We have enjoyed Portland Pie pizza in the past at other locations and we're looking forward to enjoying it with some friends. This newer location is not properly managed. I will go further north to the Scarborough restaurant in the future for good service , good food and a pleasant experience. read more

Service was great, food was sub-par. No issues with the waitress, she was friendly and attentive. Food-I got the Acadia, which has brie, turkey, bacon, apples and lettuce on foccaccia bread. The brie was melted, which is not what I expected. The melted brie resembled oozy American cheese, which, for all I know, it could have been. The bacon was kind of undercooked and chewy. The foccaccia bread was meh. soft, chewy, and flavorless. The sandwich sounded good and the concept of the ingredients together could work well but, I think Portland Pie has some work to do. Higher quality ingredients and please, do not melt the brie. Perhaps warming would be ok but not oozing melty. read more

Since the opening, I have only experienced take out and delivery. The two times we had take out, the pizza seemed to be ready several minutes before we received it, almost as though we were forgotten. The delivery system works well - we received the food prior to "when promised" and the drivers are friendly. Usually, we use credit. This last time we used cash and the driver had no money with him so couldn't make change? He was nice and ended up with a large tip, but how about a heads up on the no money carried by driver? The food has gone from great to inconsistently good to awful. Because it was inconsistent, I thought they should get the benefit of the doubt. When I called the manager to complain about cold/burned pizza, he graciously offered a free replacement that could be used any time. Yesterday, we ordered a sandwich which was very good and a pizza which was cold and rubbery. Sorry to say, I am done trying to get great food from Portland Pie. read more

I made an order at 6, didn't get it until almost 8. A friend of mine made an order at the same time and they weren't going to start cooking it until 7:30 because of how their program drops orders. While waiting we saw 3 people who had their order screwed up, no one answering the phone. One woman had waited 2 hours and when they gave her the food, it was missing a couple things. She came in and asked to talk to a manager, she was told by one of the staff the manager wouldn't be available for an hour. He didn't even try to contact the manager, just kept giving her excuses that they were swamped and it was a typical friday night. After she left the staff member was complaining about the woman while I was sitting right there. I finally got my food and when I opened it, everything was overcooked, the stuffed mushrooms were small and I only got 3, I've had 4 very large ones in the past. All I heard the whole time was excuse after excuse given to the customers without any attempt to help the situation. The phones were down (they were definitely not), the ordering system had an error on our end, the manager checks all the meal orders before they go out. Definitely won't be eating there anytime soon. As someone who works in customer service for quite awhile, I could get over the burnt food but not the attitude of the employee. read more

We have been regulars at this Portland Pie location since it opened but the last 2 times we have eaten here has been awful. I have food allergies which makes eating out difficult sometimes. The last time that we ate here I ordered a gluten free veggie pizza-the waitress brings out a plain pizza with sauce and a little cheese on it. Not even close to a veggie pizza. She apologized for the kitchen's error and left the pizza with me to eat while they made my correct pizza for no charge for the incorrect pizza of course. Tonight was even worse. After waiting 45 mins for my family's food and then another 15 mins for mine to come out we started eating. After a few bites the waitress came over and told me that the kitchen had messed up and used an ingredient I was allergic to even after I had asked for specific changes to be made to my order and advised them of my allergy. Ummm thanks for giving me food that will make me sick. The waitress didn't seem to care much and said they'd make me a new pizza. So 1 1/2 hours later I FINALLY got a pizza I could eat. The waitress didn't even attempt to make up for this major error-we thought she'd at least give us a discount or have the manager come apologize for the problem but we could barely even flag the girl down for our check. Worst dining out experience I've ever had. read more

To be brief, it took forever to order, took forever to get our drinks, when the food arrived some of the order was wrong, we had no utensils, it took 5 minutes to get the utensils, the salads were full of slimy lettuce and the pizza was no better than a frozen pizza. Wow. What a disappointment. We have been waiting for weeks to try out the new Biddeford location. Great looking place. Well done. We had a 10 minute wait, not bad. The staff was very good and friendly. It took about 30 minutes to get our pizza and it was not good. The pizza was terrible. It was way over cooked, dry and was supposed to have meatballs on it. I found only one that was cut into 3 pieces. The manager said she would replace it. We could not stay any longer so took it with us. We will never go back. read more

We get the run around every time we call in for a big order - always order at least 8 pizzas at a time. Ask for the manager and the person who answers the phone always says they are the manager, but has to check with another manager to get anything approved. We were offered a great deal the first time for discounted Roni & Cheese Pies - then when we called back in to order, the deal had changed and we had to order 6 Specialty Pizzas and they would comp two additional. Now, three weeks later we are ready to order another 8 pizzas and the "manager" says it was a one time offer and they can't do it again. I guess the free advertisement isn't worth a couple Pizzas. I'll just go back to Domino's and save $50 off the price of 8 pizzas there - too bad you guys couldn't afford to comp a Roni & a Cheese Pie. Needless to say - you've lost all of our business, and we also order individually at least 2 times a week. Thanks for nothing. read more

Today I went here with my roommate to eat at Portland pie, one of our favorites. Today we entered at around 5:30 and there was a line of customers. We waited in line to be seated, the customer in front of us was talking to the staff for about 5-10 minutes. During this time, a party of four came in. These people were seated before us and we were not even acknowledged to be there, even though we did make eye-contact and were in line. There were three people behind the cash-register and none of them did anything except the one actually working the cash register. My roommate and I walked out and went to the Portland location instead. So much better and their garlic bread is amazing. The Biddeford location lost two customers and all of our friends that go to this location as well. Very disappointed. A time before that it took our party 20 minutes to even get drinks after being seated and it was a slow Thursday night. Not impressed. read more

The following comment/review was sent to Portland Pie management. They chose not to respond. Hi - Four of us decided to visit the new Portland Pie location in Biddeford. Previously each of us had good experiences at Portland Pie. We arrived at 11:30 so as to avoid the crowded lunch hour and to get quick service. This visit turned out to be the lunch from Hell. It started with the waitress who arrived at our table with a rather unpleasant manner. I asked about the Winter Specials which I had seen on Portland Pie's website. We were told "We don't do those here - we're new. We ordered and proceeded to wait for 45 minutes for our food to be served - no explanations, no comments. When the food finally arrived, everything was just lukewarm. Sandwiches, French fries, lasagna, pizza - all just slightly warm. The pizza had been ordered with the thicker crust. When it arrived, it was very thin, had little cheese and the cheese was almost burnt. When asked, the waitress said there was only one thickness. However, we saw another customer with a thicker crust pizza. We asked to see the Manager. We explained our complaints. She said they would replace all of the meals. When I mentioned that we had waited 45 minutes for our meals the first time, she assured us that she would make sure the replacements would be very quick. Half an hour later, the replacements arrived. During this entire wait, the waitress never removed the previously served uneaten meals, nor did she even offer to refill our drinks. The manager never reappeared. One sandwich was lukewarm; french-fries(two orders) were not replaced; the pizza was NOT replaced; the other sandwich, while hot, seemed to have an unpleasant taste. Also, one sandwich was meant to have cheese - it did not. All in all, very unpleasant and, contrary to the Manager's assurances, certainly not quick. At the end of more than one and one-half hours, only two of us had the meals we ordered and those were not complete. The service was poor and the Manager did not seem to be in control of how the restaurant operated. The waitress said there would be no charge for the meals. Considering that only one meal was acceptable the second time, we should not have paid All restaurants can have problems. What separates the good from the bad is how they deal with those problems. This was one of the worst I have ever seen. As a result of this meal, they have turned four people who were pleased with Portland Pie into four people who were very unhappy and will certainly tell their friends UPDATE: After posting the Yelp review, I did get a reply from an untitled person. He offered a gift card but did not indicate that he had done anything to improve service. In fact, it was just a form letter. Why would I want a gift card to return to a place that served us the worst meal we had had in years. I asked who he was in the organization - no reply. This whole exchange tells me a great deal about Portland Pie - just don't go. read more

I am familiar with Portland Pie, and love their pizza. Great food, and I was very excited to have them come to Biddeford. Tonight (their first Friday night being open), we decide to order pizza to pick up. We figured it would be faster than eating in. At 530, we placed an order and were told it would be 25-30 minutes. That seems like a long wait for a pizza, but it is a Friday night and I know the staff is probably still learning. Ok. We get there just before 6. Wait. Wait. Ask if it's ready. Wait some more. After 630, we leave with pizza. No apology. No "I'm sorry for the wait." Just a "Here you go." Really? And by the time we get it home (we live 6 blocks away), everything is cold. It feels like it's been sitting for a while. Seriously underwhelmed. Will be calling HQ tomorrow, and will update this if we get a better response. I want to chalk it up to learning, but this is beyond that. read more

I placed an order for delivery online at 11am and the first available delivery time was 1215pm. By 1245, I had to call in and find out where my order was. Whoever answered the phone talked so fast, I wasn't sure if I had the right number. When I asked for an update, he said that the general manager was on his way to my house. About ten minutes later the delivery driver showed up and was not in a hurry. By the time i got my pizza it was cold. I took my family to Portland Pie on Wednesday July 31, 2019 for dinner. We called at 6 PM to ask how long the wait would be for a party of 8 and were told by Dylan that he could seat us at 6:30. We arrived and were told that he could not locate any request under our name as he looked through a half dozen scraps of paper. When I asked how long the wait would be, he said he could seat us right away. We were seated and told that our waiter, Ben would be right with us. At 6:45, Ben came by to say he would be right with us. When he returned 5 minutes later, 20 minutes after we were seated, we gave him both drink and pizza orders. At 7:30, we inquired about the status of our 4 pizzas and were told that a large order of 25 pizzas had been called in so everyone was backed up. We told Ben that three tables around us who were seated after we were had already been served. At 7:45, I asked to speak to the manager. At 7:50 we were told that she had pulled our order and placed it ahead of the call in order of 25 and our order would be out in 7-8 minutes. I again asked to speak to the manager. Our pizzas arrived at just after 8 PM my son and daughter in law packed their's in a box as they had to pick up their son at 8:30. The manager arrived at 8:15 to explain about the large phone order saying there was nothing she could do about the delay. When I told her I didn't expect to pay for the pizza, she said the best she could do was to take 2 pizzas off our $146 bill. She NEVER said, I'm sorry!!!! read more

The pizza is mediocre at best on a good night but the biggest issue we have is with delivery. Every time we've ordered delivery it takes upwards of three hours to deliver after being told 45-60mins on the phone when placing our order and we often receive cold pizza and/or the wrong order. This evening we only received half our order of pizza while hosting guests at our house and it took another 90 mins for the rest of the order to be delivered. Everyone was leaving by the time is got here. Had to call twice for the rest of our order to be delivered. We asked for a refund or store credit for the forgotten pizzas as we had already paid for the entire order, but instead they threw in 4 coupons for $5 off $25.....doesn't really make up for the messed up order nor lengthy wait time. On top of all this the forgotten pizza this evening included a small gluten free pizza for our friend with celiac disease. Puts a damper on things when one person can't eat anything! Avoid delivery at all costs!! read more

The food is pretty good. Pizzas and sandwiches have great flavor, but nothing out of this world. Service is sub par. No hostess, you have to wait forever to be seated. Waitresses may have not been trained well. Appetizers were not given with side plates, refills had to be requested. Bartender guy extremely rude. I was hoping to have a better experience. Our waitress was very slow, took forever to see us, then even longer to order drinks, and then even longer to place our order! The reason I'm scoring this so low is because our pizza was poorly made. We ordered their lobster pizza which was very expensive, had 4 pieces of lobster (on a 16" pizza), and was mostly crust (at least half a slice was crust)! We actually sent the pizza back which we've never done before at any restaurant. They did comp us the pizza which was nice. I would try the other locations before coming here! read more

We work at a local hotel, and Portland Pie has the best delivery service of anyone in the area. Their pizza is top notch, and we have never had a guest be disappointed after ordering from them. We frequently order from them ourselves and are always impressed by the quality of the food. You can customize everything to your liking and it is always very fresh. Their drivers are definitely the quickest of any other delivery in the area, but beyond that, they are the friendliest. Especially on nights when they are clearly flat out, working double shifts or covering for each other at other locations, they always have a smile and a warm greeting for us at the desk. Shout outs to Lee and Arthur, who are definitely superstars. I recommend this place to all our guests and would recommend it to anyone in the area. Best Pizza around! read more

I recently took my family to Biddeford Portland Pie. The service was fine. No wait. We ordered 4 large pizzas plus drinks. One of the pies ordered was a large pepperoni and it came plain. The server gladly took the pie back and stated that they forgot to put the pepperoni on it. We did not mind the wait for the correction but what they did was unacceptable when your bill is over $100.00. They actually put the pepperoni on the same pie and re-baked it. It was so overdone that the crust was black and the cheese dark brown. We did tell the waitress and she said yes, that was what they did. I think it would have been good customer service to have at least given a discount on the burnt pie. read more

Great pizza, decent price. It's definitely more expensive than your regular, old House of Pizza, but they have tons of varieties and really interesting flavor combinations. Everything tastes very fresh and homemade, so it's worth the extra couple bucks. I've been quite a few times and have never been disappointed! Wonderful pizza and amazing customer service! I called to order a pizza for pickup and wanted to know if they still had a pizza from their seasonal menu - a strawberry, feta, and arugula spring pizza that is divine. I was told that that particular pizza was no longer available and ordered a different veggie pizza instead. When I arrived to pick up my order, they had made the spring pizza just for me! Had lunch the other day and our pizza was great. The waitress was friendly, and prices were not bad. I'll go back next time I am in town. First I'd like to say I work in a restaurant, and have been in the food service industry for 25 years. Second, I have never reviewed on yelp, and I always give a restaurant (or server) the benefit of the doubt when I eat out. I have been disappointed by this restaurant a couple times, and after this last trip, may not go there again. Always takes a long time to be seated, servers zooming around but no one stops to say hi and take the 20 seconds for here's a couple menus, sit right there, be with you in a min. This happens every time we go. One time we stood there for like 10 min while the manager was trying to void a transaction for a customer, never once acknowledging us waiting. The servers mean well, but seem to be overwhelmed, forget water, wrong dressing on salads, don't offer plates for apps, multiple times we have been there. This leads me to wonder about the management, or standards of the company. Quite often the pizza crust is black and burnt. Overall, when the food is cooked right, its not even that great. Just adequate. Their salad kinda sucks, and you can get a better sub sandwich at subway. I go back because I love pizza, and there's not a ton of choices in Southern Maine. Tonight we sat down, the only table in our area, but we could see that our server was busy elsewhere. No problem, I am patient. Didn't get waters we asked for. No biggie. Salad had wrong dressing. Whatever. Then the section started filling up. Mind you, we had already ordered all our dinner. Time goes by and pizza here, pizza there, no food for us. By this point we had sat there an hour, and the waitress comes and says the kitchen had some technical difficulties, I had to re-fire your order. I said put it in a box and give us the check then. She finally brings the 2 calzones in boxes, one overcooked the other barely cooked at all. Her comment was "major fail, sorry". Nothing comped, no explanation, no attempt to remedy the situation. Actually never even came back to the table to see if we needed a card ran or change. At the time I didn't want to throw a young girl working hard under the bus to her boss, but I spent $70 for dinner tonight (with tip, I can't stiff a server that makes $3.75 an hour), and never actually had dinner at the restaurant, and now I'm baking my undercooked calzone at home, and its junk. I'd give this place 2 stars for the fact they have a decent beer selection, and they play surf and snowboard documentaries on flatsceens all over the restaurant. The food here is great but the service stinks. The very first time I came here my party and I had to wait 20 minutes just for drinks after being seated. I thought maybe it was just a one time thing, but the service continued to be lazy in future visits. Today we were waiting to be seated for nearly fifteen minutes while the hostess chatted with the guest in front of us and then continued to seat the party that came in after us.
