Classic Breakfast Sandwich on a Bagel with Pork Belly.
    Frederick C.

Visiting Plymouth and found this cozy little place with a great sounding menu. Definitely a grab and go place, just enough room to order and move aside so the next person behind you can order. I elected a classic breakfast sandwich with pork belly made on a bagel. Got a cup of coffee as well because your day hasn't really started until you've had your first cup. The owner does a phenomenal job of turning out these hearty and delicious starts to your day. The eggs and cheese are HOT and well seasoned with a simple combo of salt and pepper. The pork belly was a delicious bit of protein and completed a well made sandwich. The bagel has a crust on the outside but isn't chewy, just the way it should be. The coffee, not the star of the show and adequately does the job but I like a cup with a bit more strength and vigor! Definitely worth a re-visit and this time, based on a recommendation from a local, will be trying the short rib as the protein.

So i wanted to love this place so many options they all sounded good. Until I sat there and watched the sandwich get made. The amount of butter put on that sandwich could give anyone a heart attack greasy and not good. I don't recommend.

After first checking out The Portly Pilgrim on a solo visit back in October I ventured back today with orders for the whole family. Today we got the Burial Hill (without bacon), the Patuxet Pastrami, and the John Alden Club. The family consensus? -Excellent! -Amazing! -When can we go back? -Does he do any specials? -One guy makes all of this? Thanks for making our Friday, Portly Pilgrim! We're sorry you're temporarily closed for the season but we're looking forward to visiting when you re-open in March after a much-deserved rest!

The reviews I'd read about this place had me super excited to eat here when visiting for the day... and it did not disappoint! My mom and I got some sandwiches and headed down to the water to sit and eat (this place does not have seating inside; there were some areas outside but not specifically designated for this restaurant. I'd recommend finding a spot just across the street and down a bit to eat by the water). The Governor Bradford panini was a large and filling sandwich. It had turkey, stuffing, mayo, and cranberry sauce on a cranberry bread. The bread was delicious and perfect for the sandwich. I personally thought the cranberry sauce (more like jelly) was a little too sweet. I'd wanted gravy instead but the owner said he didn't have any at that time. It definitely had that after Thanksgiving feel and the sweet, salty, soft, crunchy that makes for an addicting meal! My mom got the Brown's Bank BLT but without the cheese or arugula (it had 8 strips of crispy bacon, Roma tomato, green leaf lettuce, and mayo). It came on a roll but you could get it on a different bread option if you wanted. This is such a cute place. It's in the Village landing shopping area. If you park in the farm end of the lot near the hotel, you'll see the sign telling you to walk around and enter in the front of Portly Pilgrim. You can't see this place from the street. It's near B's Ice cream. They offer breakfast sandwiches as well. Just take a look at my photos of the sandwiches and that should convince you to stop in!!

We stopped here on the way to cape cod from Boston. Mostly because of the reviews and the thanksgiving themed sandwiches. The shop is small one guy cooking everything and just enough space to order...which is perfect. We got a DAT Bird (?) and the one with steak, pesto and mozzarella. Everything was really good and the guy working was so kind and a hard worker. Would def stop here again.

An absolutely wonderful sandwich shop. I visited the Portly Pilgrim two times this week. Once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both times the food was amazing and the owner was kind and generous. I can highly recommend the Sausage @ Gouda breakfast Sandwich, and the incredibly fresh muffins. I can also recommend the lunch panini Governor Bradford (the Cranberry bread is amazing!) An obvious 5-stars from me!

Grab and go breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Amazing lunch sandwiches... the Massasoit melt was wonderful on sour dough (rye was gone.), and the skinny bird is hearty. Plenty of tables outside to sit down and eat. It's a be man show so you may have to wait to order, and they may close early if they have run out of food.

Awesome sandwiches - there was a little bit of a wait because it's a small operation, but it was worth it in the end. A+

I was in the area for yet another specialist appointment and was not feeling in the best spirit…read more Since it was a fasting appointment, I was pretty hungry so the hubby brought me here. I don't know if I was starving, unhappy or what but this place and meal hit the spot and hit it hard. I thought I deserved a drink so I got a Guinness, which was thankfully on tap so yah! I got the bourbon steak tips with steak fries and opted for a garden salad instead of the green beans - yes, yes, and yes! Steak tips were perfectly flavorful and cooked just right for my taste. I really wanted fries and (unlike some of my family/friends) I actually like steak fries and they were cooked up just the way I like'em (crisp outside, not too mushy on the inside). The salad though, yah it was basic and yet not - all kinds of different colored tomatoes which actually had great flavor to them, and it was not just a couple but quite a few and they were "fresh". That is basically what I loved about the salad - not your typical anemic looking/tasting salad but with mixed greens (not just lame looking iceberg) and full of other veggies. The server also could not have been nicer (like I said I went through a lot that day so seeing a friendly face was nice) and always checking on us. I think we made a great choice in stopping here - it was a 4:30 on a Tuesday and it was busy. Good sign!

Bottom line... it doesn't get much better than Dillon's Local…read more My only gripe is that it's a little small, so if your timing isn't right, you might be waiting for a table -- but honestly, that's part of the charm. It has that cozy hometown pub feel: sports on, music playing, and a great local vibe. The staff treats you like you've been coming in for years, making you feel like a regular right away -- and that's definitely a good thing. Homemade comfort food that hits on every level, a delicious menu from top to bottom, and a drink menu that complements it perfectly. And by the way... the Guinness pours well!
