Was here with a coworker about 2 months ago & have been thinking about it ever since. We live 40 mins from Post Oak yet we need to make the drive more often. It's my husband's bday weekend, perfect time to take him out for Q. We grabbed a beef rib only available on Sat & Sun. Worth showing up for. Plus we had a family combo meal. Our choices of meat were brisket, pork belly, smoked turkey & spare ribs. The 3 sides we opted for were fried okra, jalapeño Mac n Cheese, slaw. Those corn muffins and butter to round it out. Great meal & my husband enjoyed a law's whiskey with our meal, while I had a shiner bock. I'm stuffed & home but still want to dig into our left overs. Thanks for the yumminess! I had to pleasure of working with Chris for my latest catering order. My customer was BLOWN AWAY with the BBQ. They had heard a lot about them but had not had the privilege of eating there and they were so pumped. Chris was incredible, along with the rest of their staff. I have catered from there now 3 times and everything is as fresh as it can be, organized and they always go the extra mile to communicate with me about when things are ready, feedback and ensure i had a great experience. Post Oak is the best BBQ in the state and as a texas BBQ snob, can absolutely compete with some of the places back home. It is a great place to bring clients or kick back for some games and you can guarantee the staff will be there to help make your experience great. Could not recommend any more than i do. The female bartender was terrible, treated her patrons awful. After discussing with other folks, it was a common feeling. She seemed to create a toxic atmosphere. I understand when you are busy it is easy to get flustered, but when your customers aren't doing anything to cause that, not impatient, enjoying their company, she absolutely changed the temperature in the room. This place is officially my favorite barbecue in Denver! It gets crowded during peak hours, but the line moves fast, because people order at the counter and then wait for food to be taken out. Originally wanted to go to elsewhere but it was much further so came here after reading the reviews I'm a huge fan of KC bbq and I haven't found anything close to topping it. Unfortunately came on a day where burnt ends weren't sold because they only sell on a certain day. So ordered the brisket and pulled pork with brisket mac and cold slaw. To me, they weren't seasoned.... It was well done for sure but needed more flavor. Had to drench every bite with sauce. And also it was so fatty.., no fat was trimmed so many of my bites were overwhelming with fat. It's not the worst I've had cause it's moist but no flavor. Hands down my favorite BBQ in Denver PERIOD!!! Great location with amazing friendly staff. Thank you so much for the gratis pulled pork it was divine. I ordered Spare Ribs, Brisket, and Bbq Pork Belly ( something you do not see everywhere). Each meat was special and you could taste the meat and the smoke. The ribs had a candy caramelized crust to them which was heavenly. The right amount of tenderness not too fall off the bone but not too snappy either. Pork belly was smoky piggy goodness with a great mixture of meat to fat....paired perfectly with their divine ketchup based bbq sauce. The brisket was on another level. Most places offer either fatty or lean...Post Oak offers a Brisket that walks the line of both...and yes it is hellah good. Finally the pulled pork was pretty fantastic as well. It paired well with the mustard and vinegar based Carolina sauce. My only regret?? Not eating there and having a great cocktail or beer ...or both with my meal. I wanted to love this place but it fell flat in a few areas. 1) Very confusing when you walk in on what to do if you want food to go or sit at the bar. Like any respectable bbq place, it has a line out the door as it should. I waited for about 15 mins in line then finally found an employee who told me I could just go to the bar and sit. Ok. 2) If you join their rewards club they send you emails for free items, huzzah! That's what brought me in here after a long drive from the mountains. I was greeted right away by the bartender, ordered my sandwich and it was out in minutes. 3) The barbecue was goooood. I swore I was only going to have half and take the rest to go but I was hungry after a hiking trip and it satisfied my needs. 4) You know what didn't satisfy my needs? Rude staff. The girl was originally helped me got back to me, I told her I had a coupon and she never came back to me after thought. Awesome! I even waived my hands in the air at one point because I just wanted to give them money for the side I got but nope. A guy came over, he gave me the check, again, I mentioned a coupon and he got straight up rude telling me I should have told them that in the first place. I DID!!! Please let me give you money. They don't say specifically what you will be getting, just that it's meat :) Street parking available so make sure you read the signs. I told the cashier I was here for my GoodieBag pick up and the guy turned around and grabbed something from the fridge behind him :) I asked what it was and he said turkey!! My husband and I have been here several times before and have some favorites on the menu, including the dry rub smoked wings and brisket sandwich with Texas Style. With a party of four, we split ten wings, baked potato with brisket, a Texas style brisket sandwich, four cornbread and two sides. We had enough for all and leftovers for one meal the next day! The wings or brisket sandwich are my favorite; I love the toppings station in the back where I can get extra pickles and pickled onions. To drink, I got a whiskey sour which was very solid. Excellent BBQ, and I'm from KC so I'm an annoying bbq snob. Texas style pulled pork sandwich is about as good as it gets, but spare ribs are also fall off the bone and great flavor. They cut the brisket pretty thick so not my fav on a sandwich but I'm sure it's great alone as a side. Staff is always super friendly and accommodating, and these guys stay busy I tell ya hwhat. We were in line as a family and as we arrived at the register, my husband and toddler went to find a table. The older gentleman with the southern accent was a little snippy about that because the restaurant policy required an order before getting a table. This is completely understandable, but he saw that I was about to order and there were several empty tables. He seemed irritated to take my order. I'm willing to chalk it up to personality differences, but given the previous encounter it left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe I'm being a little sensitive about it, maybe I'm stupid for leaving a tip anyway, but it seemed at odds with the statement on their website about feeling at home once you enter the restaurant. Yum! My friends recommended Post Oak and the menu looked amazing, We didn't have a chance to dine in here, so I made sure we were able to at least order takeout for our flight home. I studied the menu ahead of time and gravitated towards the dirty mac ($15). Jalapeño bacon mac 'n cheese with crispy onions and barbecue sauce topped with 1/3 pound of meat. Mmmm. What meat to choose? It was undecided then. When we got to the restaurant, we immediately lined up at the counter. As you order, the staff begins to prepare your food (weigh and slice barbecue meats). I watched the patrons in front of me order the brisket. It was beautifully cooked and juicy as it was being sliced. I knew I was more than okay paying $2 extra for the brisket as the meat choice for my mac. As I walked down the line, I watched my dirty mac being assembled. That thing was huge! They piled on the mac, crispy onion and barbecue sauce. I asked for some barbecue sauce to go and was given 2 containers of each kind. The brisket mac was lukewarm by the time I had it on the flight. It was still very good so I can only imagine how much more delicious eaten right away. The mac was dense with flavors from the jalapeño and bacon. I really enjoyed my lunch here. I got the pulled pork sandwich, cowboy beans and sweet tea and all 3 items were excellent. My favorite where the cowboy beans, they have a rather unique flavor I believe they have green chilis in them. The tea was unique aswell, probably the best sweet tea I have had and I am a sweet tea enthusiast. I will say the prices are the highest I have seen for a BBQ spot but they defiantly use really high quality products and it's in an area that's surely not cheap to rent a space.
