This was a bright sunny day so my husband and I wanted to go somewhere to eat outside. We live right near downtown Gilbert and decided that lunch would be perfect at Postinos. When we arrived we immediately were sat. This was around 2PM on a Wednesday. Normally I see this place packed after 5PM. So, I'd keep that in mind. We were given the option to sit in door or out and we're seated in a shaded spot under an umbrella. It felt quaint, cozy, quiet and comfortable. They have normal chairs, but I found it to be more comfortable sitting on the bench with the padding. My husband had the OMG Grilled cheese! Which was described as a "layered gruyere, whipped brie, goat cheese, white cheddar, smoked bacon with a creamy tomato soup dip". The bread was served slightly burnt and there was A LOT of whipped brie on it. If you like brie an insane amount - get this! Otherwise, no way. The tomato soup "dip" was incredible. I could taste all the spices and rosemary perfectly. I got the bruschetta board. You get to pick 4 out of the options below: Brie, Apple & Fig Spread Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato & Basil Prosciutto Di Parma, Fig & Mascarpone Warm Artichoke Spread Smoked Salmon & Pesto * Sweet N' Spicy Pepper Jam & Goat Cheese Burrata, Bacon, Arugula & Tomato Mexican Street Corn Ricotta, Dates & Pistachio Mushroom & Mascarpone Salami & Pesto Chef's Choice There are also gluten free options. The board is $17.50 and is a nice selection. I got the Fresh Mozzarella, Tomato & Basil, which had fresh basil (so important to me), a ripe tomato and great cheese. It was like caprese with bread, minus the balsamic vinaigrette. Next was the Sweet N' Spicy Pepper Jam & Goat Cheese and OMGGGGG SO GOOD!!!! I didn't think I'd like this one honestly and kind of just threw it in there in a panic (order anxiety is REAL). But it was to die for. Even now, sitting here full after eating, I am daydreaming about when I'll be able to come back and eat it again. The hotness of the spicy pepper jam paired with the cool goat cheese is just YUM! Next I had the smoked salmon and pesto. I am a HUGE pesto fan (and basil fan in general) and this pesto was lacking in flavor, which was strange because everything up to this was so flavorful. I didn't find the salmon to be incredibly fresh and could have done without this one. Lastly, I got the Brie, Apple and fig spread. The Brie was whipped, which I don't prefer. I'd rather just a piece of Brie. The fig jam was delicious and the apple was fresh and crisp. I also got a Rainbow sour beer on tap. It was happy hour and they give you a pitcher opposed to one glass for the same price as one glass, which I believe is $5. The server was friendly, fast and attentive. The food came out within 10 minutes and they kept up on refilling our water. All in all, I wish things were more cheesy. I feel like I was promised a lot of cheese but wasn't delivered it. If you're at Postino and don't ask for Sean Brown, you're seriously missing out. I'm not just saying this because he's my buddy -- he's genuinely one of the best in the business. He's got that perfect mix of being super friendly, funny, and still making sure everything is on point. Sean knows the menu like the back of his hand and gave us some amazing suggestions (still thinking about that wine he picked). We hosted my son's rehearsal dinner here. Everyone was so helpful, from Shannon who helped us online with the reservations and choosing our menu, to the staff on the day of the event. I didn't get everyone's name, but Manny was in charge of our party and he was wonderful! I was there early to put out some decorations and Manny and his servers were all very responsive to my suggestions for setting out the food, including bringing out an extra table to hold the desserts separately when I requested it. The food was all ready and beautifully arranged on time - and it was a lot of food, so I know that took an incredible amount of coordination in the kitchen! Even though we served ourselves buffet style, several servers were in constant circulation taking drink orders and refills and generally just making themselves helpful. Even the weather cooperated! Stumbled upon this place on Yelp when I first got into Gilbert and was really interested to try it due to the great reviews. It's located in the heart of downtown Gilbert, and there's plenty of street, lot and garage parking. The restaurant is darker at night with nice ambient lighting and candles at each table. The whole place was packed on a Friday night. We were sat outside with a nice view of the main road. We ordered the bruschetta board with these flavors: smoked salmon and pesto, burrata bacon arugula and tomato, prosciutto fig and marscapone, and warm artichoke. Loved how affordable this plate was (especially since we are from LA). I think it was $14. I would definitely order the last 2 flavors again! Also got a sandwich that was really large and filling. I purchased $100 worth of Charcuterie yesterday and the portion for what I paid for was abysmal. The picture below is a $50 tray for just that measly amount of food. I could've purchased 3 normal portions instead of the family style version and I would've had double the amount. Also there was missing prosciutto from the tray which is arguably the most expensive part of the dish. I feel lied to and this is the most dishonest thing I've seen lately from any restaurant. We dine in the patio area. It was relatively quiet, and the weather is great. One thing I will note first is that the original server was pretty poor. She pretty much didn't check on us, and it was difficult to flag her down. Apparently we were eating when she went off her shift, and the server that took over was MUCH better. Even though we were done, she checked on us anyway. We literally got better service after we finished than during the meal. That said, we ordered a shared a variety of things. The skewers are good, but you only get two of them. Kinda pricey for only two skewers. We also had a variety of bruschetta. They were generally tasty. Personal taste would dictate which ones you order. I really liked the salami one, but they were all OK. Perhaps a bit small compared to another place that offered bruschetta boards. The crispy cauliflower had a sauce so that you couldn't take the cauliflower. That works for me!! Not a cauliflower fan, but the sauce was good. I would give a four stars, but just barely. Okay, this place is honestly not at all what I expected. I thought they would have a full menu and bar. They do have things you could definitely get full on but it's more of a tapas and wine bar feel. We came in for dinner but ended up just having a glass of wine and a charcuterie board while waiting for our reservation at another place. My uncle had red wine and I had the moscato. It was very fancy, it came it the little glass and then they poured it into the wine glass for you. It was about an 8 ox pour. The moscato was super sweet, which I love. We also had the Chef Charcuterie board. You can make your own assortment but they also have 4 designed boards to choose from. This specific board had two cheeses: baretta and a chefs pick. The chefs pick was a harder white cheese with an outer crust. It was super good. The baretta was not our favorite, in fact it was the only think we left extra of on the plate. It also came with an assortment of olives, hard peta/lavash bread and some hard bread loads. It also came with pepperoni and salami and of course prosciutto. Postinos is an awesome place we regularly visit for some great food, good wine, nice servers, and great ambiance. We are addicted to their Board and Bottle nights and love the bruchetta creations. Sweet and savory combinations of this dish makes it a great meal for a sharing delight. Top it off with a bottle of good wine and you have a perfect date night meal. The place is a bit loud inside since it does have lots of seating that does fill up. Outside though is where we like it. Plenty of refreshing outdoor seating on the nice nights during the perfect Arizona months. We have brought the Doggo on the dog friendly patio and he loves the place also. Service has always been great. Attentive and quick both at tables and at the bar. One word of caution though, check your bill. When we go in for the special board and bottle deal on Mon and Tues, we have been duped a couple of times into paying a tip percentage based off the every day pricing of the meal and wine. Maybe some think that's ok but when you're purposely going in for the discounted special price, we expect to pay a tip on the total cost not the higher evey day pricing. Not to mention I'm old school and the service and food better be good to earn a tip. Expecting 20+% tip on the normal pricing for the deal defeats the purpose of it being an attraction for the restaurant. First time at Postino East, I have been to the Postino in Kierland. I don't often get down to Gilbert, preferring to stay up in my North Scottsdale comfort zone. But when I was in Gilbert I decided to check out Postino. The oversized patio and outdoor seating is great especially now with the Pandemic restrictions. Even though there are more newly opened restaurants near, Postino still holds it's own. I went on a bust Friday night with no reservation and was seated an hour later by the fireplace . It was the perfect table and the heat from the fireplace and two patio heaters near kept perpetually cold me cozy and comfortable. I ordered the Vegetarian Panini on the gluten free bread and it is hands down my favorite sandwich!! So delicious and the cashew and fillings make for a truly yummy panini. I will certainly go back to Postino East again if I am in Gilbert again. read more

When my friend talked about having lunch today in downtown Gilbert, she mentioned Postino's but said to not get my hopes up because they're always busy and the line/wait time is ridiculous. Today must have been our lucky day because we were seated within ten minutes. The wait to be seated inside was 20 minutes and outside was 10. We initially agreed to be seated outside to cut the waiting time but a table had freed up inside and we didn't have to brave the heat. I was starting to like this place already! For some reason, I suppose because of the name, I was under the impression this was an Italian restaurant and had my heart set on pasta. It is not a Italian joint but in fact a wine cafe! I was famished so I decided to order a number of things. I ordered a mimosa, Peligrino, the sweet potato wedges, the Tuscan tuna and a chocolate bouchon (ganache dessert). Cafe portions are always hit or miss and man, did Postino's deliver! My portions were huge, I'm actually typing this with my left overs next to me. Everything I ordered was fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the touch of Dijon mustard with my tuna panini. The touch of Dijon and ciabatta bread definitely brings a sophisticated level of class to a tuna sandwich. My friend offered me some of her artichoke bruschetta and it was absolutely splendid! A pleasant surprise for my taste buds! I would have never thought to pair artichoke with bread. She also ordered the chicken and mozzarella panini but returned it because she's big on texture and wasn't keen on the cheese not being melted all the way. The waitress was kind and understanding and suggested she order the melted grilled cheese instead. The melted grilled cheese is listed under the Snacky Things ( appetizers) of the menu but her portions were a good size. ( My potato wedges were also an appetizer and it's safe to say the appetizers here are shareable ). She was little upset that the cheese wasn't melted all the way but she added chicken to it and the big portions of chicken saved the sandwich. She's also not usually a fan of tomato soup but she really enjoyed the tomato soup that came with her grilled cheese. I myself am coming off a Vegas/alcohol binge so I stayed cleared of the wine as much as possible , which is a shame because the wine is really why people come to Postino's . She ordered a Riesling and a red blend both of which she adored. The red blend has a unique fresh taste that I've never tasted before, it's really strong , both of us tried to finish her glass and we couldn't. I even tried to dilute it with my Peligrino. That red blend really knocked us out because we took the longest nap afterwards. If you appreciate strong wine paired with delicious food, this is definitely the spot for you. The restaurant itself has a nice groove to it, it's edgy enough to appeal to twenty year olds but sophisticated enough to cater to older folks who appreciate the finer things in life. And as if this restaurant couldn't get any more better, my friend received a thank you for choosing Postino's text on the drive back, how cute is that ?! I now understand all the fuss and understand why people wait in the long ridiculous lines to get in. read more

It takes no time to acknowledge someone's presence and let them know you'll be with them shortly. Training should address this issue.
