No food pics but it was top notch and we splurged... gin and tonic, spicy margarita, bruschetta, arugula salad, caesar salad, wine, eggplant & chicken entrées with a tiramisu dessert. Plus great attentive service. The other customers are dressing more casual (t-shirts) lately. Not sure about that.

Acme Bread with House butter spread: garlic, herbs & red pepper flakes. And Strawberry Mugshot

I was considering a lovely lunch in the outer courtyard to enjoy the Summer weather but it was too crowded so I opted for inside AC dining. I was half hour early for 1pm reservation so host allowed me to sit down to wait for my former colleague. I ordered a Strawberry Mugshot cocktail that was refreshing like a Moscow Mule. And upon my request they served me Acme bread with their House butter spread: garlic, herbs & red pepper flakes. My colleague had the lunch addition: Double Cheeseburger with fries which she stated was outstanding. Off the regular menu I ordered the Eggplant Parmigiana. Delicious! For dessert we shared the daily ice cream: Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple, which was okay. I wanted the daily sorbet but the flavor was Lychee. We had wonderful attentive service from start to finish.

Postino is one of our favorite Italian places. Think old school dimly lit with small accent lighting, two fireplaces, linen table cloths, great food and pleasant service. Portobello Mushroom fries had an excellent presentation. The mushroom cap was sliced into steak fry size, about 1/2" and fried. The prices were then stacked on top of each other as a square. A great appetizer to start dinner with. Arugula salad with bread sticks, shaved apples and wrapped in prosciutto had an excellent presentation where the sticks were arranged in a tower. Tagliatelle pasta with Dungeness crab and artichoke hearts gave us a nice entrée. A bit pricey with the expensive crab but very pleasurable and worth the price. Sautéed onions and English peas side were added as vegetables. Chocolate decadence cake with gelato and candle for wife's birthday. Wow, this was a great way to spend time on date night.

I had the most amazing dining experience at Postino's! A sweet, sweet friend was kind enough to give me a gift card for Postino's for my birthday, and I finally got around to using it recently. Everything from the attentive staff and our delightful waiter Brian to the intimate ambiance was doing it for me. Brian was an amazing guide, dishing out helpful advice when he found out I was a vegetarian, making perfect pairing recommendations about what beverage was best suited for stage of the meal we were at, and offering up perfect anecdotes about seasonal ingredients and local selections. We had the pleasure of sitting in this little curtained alcove near the entrance (I was worried it'd be freezing because of the proximity to the front door and my penchant for jumpsuits with a thigh-high slit, but we were all to the good.) The entire meal was delicious and the experience itself was what a nice night out should be!

Scored a Christmas Eve lunch res a day prior, for 1pm (a true flex because Postino is always packed). Sat immediately, holiday miracles do exist! The exterior and interior are giving Snow White Italian cottage meets classy old-school elegance. Cozy, charming, and effortlessly cute. If you're seated in the main middle area, you get a front-row seat to the kitchen where chefs were firing plates out back to back with zero chaos. Calm, collected, great communication and clearly on their A-game. Love to see it. Go team! Feast- Burrata plate: Burrata, olives, prosciutto, crostini, and a tomato jam that I was positive was fig. Plot twist: tomatoes. Sweet, delicious, and confusing in the best way. Spicy garlic capellini with prawns: Heavy on the garlic (thank you). Flavor was solid, but I did wish for more sauce to really cling to the pasta. Carbonara: Cousin approved, no notes. Garlic mashed potatoes: LOL, Yes, pasta and potatoes. Mind your business. I do wish they were a bit chunkier- personal preference. The carb load humbled us immediately. Portions? Generous (especially the pasta); but that's the Italian way and I respect it. Drinks- I'm an espresso martini enthusiast (borderline problem), so obviously I ordered one. Pretty good, would order again. Cousin ordered a Pinot noir. Service was pleasant and smooth. This was my second visit, and I'd definitely be back to keep rotating through the menu.

Made a dinner res for 715 and didn't get seated until 800 which was frustrating. Server didn't get to us for another 10 minutes. Didn't expect that from here seeing as it's one of the nicest restaurants in Lafayette. Other than the wait and the service, food was fantastic. Got the hand rolled pasta with rabbit and was sad that I got full so quickly. My wife got the pesto chicken pasta which I didn't care for but she thought was amazing. Will go back here again but was disappointed with the experience especially since it was a special occasion.

I attended a nurse practitioner meeting here. Food was delicious. I ordered the angel hair pasta. This was a vegetarian dish but the spice level was great! For dessert, I had the lemon tart. I would come here again with family

Been on an Italian food hyperfixation this month and glad a friend recommended Postino's. Came here on a Monday night and there were a fair number of tables. The restaurant is pretty spacious with plenty of seating and a rustic brick vibe. You enter through a mini hall of signed wine bottles (how cute) and into a dining room with a real fireplace! The portions are pretty generous. I would say one dish can be shared by two people. Even the clam appetizer can be a legit entree! The butter garlic sauce it came in was so savory I could've drank it straight. Which I, no lie, sorta did. I ordered the carbonara as my main and it was DELICIOUS. First of all the dish came piping hot and the noodles were still so hot even 20-30 mins into my meal I still had to blow on them! It was creamy, al dente and just perfect. The service was really good too. Waters were refilled quickly and we were checked in on often at good intervals. Defiantly will be returning.

i went here last night with my girlfriend and my old basketball coach and can say i was absolutely blown away by the food. we got the melon prosciutto and the salmon crudo to start with and it was just so good. you normally wouldn't expect melon and prosciutto to go together but it worked very well. in addition, we got the watermelon and strawberry and loved it because it was so fresh. for the entrees we got the pork chop and the steak were so juicy and honestly one of the best dishes i've ever had in a while. the veggies paired very well with the meat dishes and were so good that i am definitely excited to come back just for that. we ended the night with the strawberry lemonade and it was so refreshing and so so so good and honestly wish i could take a tub home. overall the service was amazing, people were super friendly and lots of people were making sure we were served and constantly attended to. lastly the ambiance was honestly just as good as everything else. you can tell the owner invests in the employees and really helps attract the customers.

Went for dinner on a Wednesday night with a few coworkers. We ordered an assortment of appetizers, the charcuterie board is a must get! I really enjoyed the jam with the fresh mozzarella and the perfectly toasted bread- what else could you wish for! The rest of the meal was spectacular, from the pasta to the salmon to dessert- I can't wait to come back. The portions were great and the service was even better!

We hosted an employee appreciation lunch today at Postino Lafayette, and it did not disappoint. I hadn't been back in a while, and it was great to return. The food was excellent, the service was on point, and the atmosphere made it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy time with the team. Everything came out timely, the staff was attentive, and the overall experience made it easy to just sit back and enjoy the moment. Highly recommend this place especially for lunch.

It's hard to believe that you can find such a place on Mount Diablo Boulevard. Set back with an almost ferry tale theme. This is the work of master builder Carr Jones. Amazingly, it was the original Lafayette Post Office first built in 1937. The food was very good. We had pastas and risotto with a Caesar salad and crudo up front. desert was affogato, a crumble and a chocolate torte. It was all great. Service was good but server was a little busy for a Sunday night.

    Short Braised Rib.
    Darius R.

Housed in a historic Carr Jones-designed former post office in downtown Lafayette. A nice little area you will find some fresh Italian cuisine. The food was flavorful and came out with great presentation. Indoors you are greeted with a beautiful brick wine cellar. We ordered the Penne Pasta, Braised short ribs, Burrata, Black Lentil soup and a orange cream tart for dessert Would recommend all, for flavor except, I would go with a different protein like the fish or chicken next time. Overall 8/10

Good for a lively night out, not for a quiet conversation. Would I return? Not sure. Food: Good for what it is, but definitely on the pricier side. The steak frites were the highlight. Fries were abundant and heavily truffled, and the hangar steak was a delight. The mussels, on the other hand, were average and served not very hot, with a pretty plain sauce. The two pieces of bread that came with it weren't nearly enough to handle the whole dish. The short rib was tender but slightly dry, though the polenta and carrots underneath were a nice touch. Drinks: The tea thyme was a bit too fragrant, almost perfume-like. Tasted fine, but next time I'd probably go boozier instead. The lemonade was plain, but that's to be expected. Ambiance: Quite noisy, with a few TVs going and the bar packed. Understandable for a Friday, but we had to raise our voices to hold a conversation, even at a 5:30 reservation. Things really picked up around 6-6:15pm. Service: Our server did her job and gave solid suggestions when asked, though I don't recall her introducing herself. During our meal, several waiters checked in on us and made sure we had ordered or if we wanted anything else! Detailed and friendly service. The second time I visited we got on the waitlist half an hour before arriving and were seated within 15 minutes of arriving. The only thing is since there is a long waitlist on Sundays, long conversations aren't very possible without various staff frequently intervening to ask if you want boxes to go... even if you're still chewing. I do understand it's to keep groups cycling through so that everyone can enjoy a meal here. F O O D My friend wanted to try various appetizers so she ordered the Korean fried chicken, crispy brussel sprouts, and earl grey croffle. I ordered the sweet maple omelette. The Korean fried chicken was great, with its wonderful crunch and flavorful hint of spice. The brussel sprouts were indeed delicately crispy as described and tasty; I couldn't stop eating them! I also thoroughly enjoyed their namesake omelette; it was a big portion too. What stole the show was the earl grey croffle!! A light crunchy yet soft croissant waffle with burrata(!!) blueberries marinated in Earl grey(!!) & basil extra virgin olive oil and their housemade blueberry marmalade was such a strange combination to imagine but a beautiful taste experience. I would have never considered adding burrata cheese with basil evoo and earl grey blueberries to a croffle but I am grateful to the skilled chef who did at this restaurant! I can't wait to come back just for this very delicious appetizer/dessert. D R I N K S My BFF ordered a coffee and I ordered the hot coconut cream latte. The coconut cream latte was dreamy and sweet. I have also tried the iced Ube latte on another visit and it was good but not as good as the coconut cream latte. It needed a touch of something else to balance the sweetness of the Ube, not sure what really. I am intrigued by the floral tonic espresso so I'll try that on my next visit! A M B I A N C E The decor and open dining area with its glass windows make the area feel airy and inviting. It's a very aesthetic vibe inside. There is chatter and laughter but nothing excessive, except the second time when we were seated by a table with unruly children, though that is no fault of the establishment, just the parents. This for sure a great place for a brunch with the girlies or a date post farmers market. Just make sure to get on the waitlist via Yelp to plan your visit ahead of time! This place is always busy, as it should be!! I would recommend planning for some extra time to find parking if you're coming on a Sunday (due to the farmers market). The second time I went on a Sunday around 11 am it took me 10 minutes to find parking and I got lucky since it was someone leaving the farmers market. Also please note that the farmers market closes the streets that Google Maps will try to take you through to get here.

Wood Tavern has been my favorite restaurant in Oakland since I first visited nearly twenty years…read moreago. In all that time, it has remained remarkably consistent. I've been here for date nights, holiday dinners, business dinners, and countless meals with friends visiting from out of town. It's one of those rare restaurants that seems to work for just about any occasion. The service is always great, the College Avenue location is hard to beat, and I've always had good luck finding street parking nearby. The ribeye is my personal favorite and what I order more often than not. If you're coming with a group, the cheese and charcuterie plates are a great way to start. The menu is varied enough that there's always something for everyone, and I've never had a bad meal here. I was genuinely sad to hear that they'll be closing at the end of the year. Restaurants with this kind of quality, consistency, and character are increasingly rare. If you've never been, make a point of going while you still can. I'll certainly miss it once they're gone.

This one had some crispy edges and well prepared which was lovely though. $14 warm chocolate buckwheat pudding cake: definitely house made. Definitely very good but definitely a safe choice. I think I should have been more adventurous. As good as this is, I'm not convinced I got my $'s worth.
