A group I was leading had our lunch at Main Street Kitchen & Bar. I ordered the BLT with avocado sandwich. It was very good! The reason I rated my visit 4 stars is because after I ordered my sandwich, my food server asked if I wanted fries or a salad with my sandwich without letting me know there's a charge for both sides. I thought the fries or salad went with the sandwich and I was surprised to see a $6 charge on my bill. I told my food server I thought the fries or salad went with my sandwich and I wanted the $6 charge removed, he said he'd have to ask his manager. The manager came to my table to talk to me and I told him what I stated earlier. He asked me if I looked at the menu because it showed the $6 charge for fries or a salad. I thought that question was obvious and unnecessary. The manager took the $6 charge off of my bill. I think the food server should have mentioned there was a $6 charge for the fries or salad because he's more familiar with the charges than I am. It will be a while before I return to Main Street Kitchen & Bar because of this situation. read more

I gave them the opportunity to respond via email but unfortunately they didn't... So here is my review. From the beginning, the service was inattentive and frustrating. After waiting quite a while for someone to come to our table, we finally placed our drink order. I ordered a cappuccino and asked for sugar. When it didn't come, I reminded our server. She still did not bring it. I waited roughly 15 to 20 minutes, long enough for my cappuccino to get cold, before I had to physically get up and ask someone else to find our server. Only after reminding her again was the sugar finally brought over. It then took another 30 to 40 minutes for someone to come take our actual food order. Our server was unfriendly, disengaged, and gave the impression that she simply did not want to be there. There was no warmth, no apology for the delays, and no effort to check in or improve the experience. The food was also disappointing. Other than the pizza, most of what we ordered either arrived lukewarm or simply did not taste good. Between the poor service, the long waits, and the underwhelming food, the entire meal felt careless from start to finish. I understand restaurants can have difficult days, but this was not just a small delay or one missed item. It was a consistently poor experience throughout the visit, and frankly, not what I would expect from Main Street Kitchen. read more

Came here for brunch to celebrate a birthday. We were seated at the very back near the bar, in what appeared to be a "room", with privacy by way of curtain if needed. Wasn't the best seat in the house at all as we were by the walkway to the bathroom. Did the bottomless mimosas for the entire table - they are very strict with the time limit. I can't speak to the rest of my party's food, but will say mine was overpriced. I ordered the Safron & Yogurt marinated chicken skewers sandwich. It looked like 1 skewer with 3 or 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Served with a simple salad. It was fine - definitely NOT worth ordering based on the serving alone. Since this place has always been quite busy (good sign), I just started coming with my friend who swears by it, for the in-between hours or happy hr. so we can chat at the bar...I'm hooked. I've since come back for dinner and loved it just as much. The staff are so professional and welcoming, always. They have a huge menu so it took me a minute to decide what I wanted as my entrée but I narrowed it down to an omelette. The food here is legit and you won't be disappointed. I've been here a handful of times and have had good experiences each time. I went with a friend in April and we decided to share multiple menu items. As the food arrived we realized the two-top table was a bit small for everything we ordered, but we were managing fine and had no complaints. When the table next to us finished their meal & left, our server came over promptly and pushed the empty table to us so we had more space! They also brought over more bread for one of our dishes when they noticed we were getting low. I love that they have a rotating menu and use fresh local ingredients, and I believe make all their sauces in house. I was there for a solo dinner at the bar last weekend and received great service from both bartenders- Sam & Madison I believe were their names. Sevice was quick and friendly. They allowed up to bring in a cake, and brought it out and cut it for us, and boxed the remainder back up. This was a fee, but well worth it. Last time I was here was with the ladies in my family. This time, we came in before with some of my other family before we headed out to the airport. I loooove this spot for brunch! My sister made a reservation and we were seated as soon as we arrived. There's a parking garage nearby for easy parking. I ordered the espresso martini and loved it! It was so creamy and delicious! To start, my brother in law ordered some guac and salsa for the table and their giant fries! The fries came with a yummy aioli sauce I really liked. The guac was good, too, and the chips are definitely homemade. At first when we were seated, I think there might have been a little confusion as to who our server was, but when we asked a server passing by, he ended up taking up our table and did a great job! He was wonderful. To eat, I ordered this delicious summer pasta they had. It came with arugula on top! it was soooo refreshing and light. My apologies for the delay in writing this. I made a reservation for December 31, the day before New Year's, to celebrate, but on that day, if you guys remember, we had a Pineapple Express coming through the East Bay, pouring rain. I was going to cancel because visibility was low, and driving on highways in a typhoonish rainstorm in the Bay Area is risky. Nonetheless, I'm glad I did not cancel. This restaurant was the gold standard in farm-to-table. The staff was excellent on this night. They offered us cloth napkins to dry off as we rushed in the door. They were very patient and understanding and sat us promptly. Kudos to whoever trained and hired these guys. The ambience of Main Street Kitchen and Bar is perfect for first dates, date night, and quaint get-togethers. The cocktail menu reflects a sophistication and elegance that balance traditional cocktails with unique, fresh ingredients, giving it an updated, refreshing appeal. As for the food, if pictures could speak, a few I posted would say the following: fresh, perfectly seasoned, plated with care, and served at the perfect temperature. From a vegetarian to a carnivore, the restaurant's carefully sculpted menu makes it the perfect place to dine, not eat. One of my favorite brunch spots. It's always buzzing and has a nice vibe. You can either dine inside, which is a large space with high ceilings, or outside and people watch. I always get the avocado toast which is a side menu item so it's easy to miss. For a side, you receive two decent sized pieces of toast with avocado slices, arugula, and radish slices as garnish. It's filling and delicious. The bottomless mimosa is a fun brunch addition and you can choose orange, pineapple, or grapefruit juice. It's reasonably priced. I have not tried their banana bread but apparently it's popular. It was sold out the last few times I asked for it. This is a fun place to have brunch, either with a group, another person, or by yourself. I enjoy doing that sometimes and I bring a book. It's a great place to enjoy a leisurely lunch. Met my aunt for lunch of few times. Their menu changes seasonally so the clam pasta and grilled peach salad are no longer available. The space is small but has a warm inviting feel to it, I love the eclectic mix of mismatched china and silverware. Service is always pleasant and the servers have all been lovely. With that being said, the food is incredibly expensive for the portion sizes and some of the dishes were a little underwhelming. The chicken in our salad was fried but poorly and it was super dry, there were very little salad greens. The clam pasta was great but not much of the squid pasta. The pizzas were good but again wildly pricey. You can get a medium Margherita pizza at Tomatina for the same price as MSK's personal sized one. My family brought me to this cute little bistro while visiting them in Walnut Creek. We shared a wood-fire margherita pizza and a shaved fennel & arugula salad. The crust on the pizza was light, with just enough chew; and the salad was fresh, bright, and the perfect complement. If you're in the area I would definitely recommend Main Street Kitchen. Prices are comparable for CA (& posh Walnut Creek). If you're going to spend money on a meal, it might as well be excellent food which is what we enjoyed! Reservations are highly recommended- we were surprised that the inside eating area was a 45 minute wait on a Thursday afternoon in mid January. We were able to be quickly seated, however, outside on the patio. So plan ahead and plan accordingly and you'll have a marvelous meal. read more
