I was very excited to come here with my husband because we used to love coming here but we will not be returning. Why? Prices have gone up. Quality is so so. Service is bad. We had a reservation and sat immediately. After, we continued to wait a while for the server to take our order. He asked us if we wanted the house bread and said yes...not knowing there was a $4 charge on it. It was delicious but would have been nice to know that it is an extra charge. My husband was craving the short rib and gnocchi. It was lukewarm and there was equivalent to one short rib in there. I ordered the rib eye which was good but super small. It came with a lot of spinach which was nice, maybe even too much. The potatoes were good too. We sat for a while after eating and it probably took our server 20 minutes or so. It wasn't even super busy yet. When the check arrived, we saw that the kitchen admin fee was added to the section with the food items which is weird since we were taxed on an admin fee. Suspect. I have seen the admin fee in the bottom section of the receipt after subtotal. But overall, my experience wasn't good. I've heard such good things about this place so we had to try it out. Service was fine. Server was friendly and professional. The atmosphere was cozy. They have really cute outdoor seating that is sectioned off under a roof so it feels like you're on a patio. I got the gnocchi and it was fine. The pasta was really really soft. Like melt in your mouth soft, which I was not expecting from gnocchi. I like the mouthfeel usually, so it was a little too soft for me. The short rib was really well-done. The pizza they said was doughier than normal with a very thin crust and people eat it with a fork and knife, which was interesting. My friend had a spicy meat pizza and it wasn't too spicy even with the chili oil so we got some red pepper flakes and it scratched the pizza itch. read more

Soo finally returned to this place after being throughly whelmed after trying this place twice about 4 years ago. I live in Davis and we were craving Italian so decided to give this place another try because it's so close. I have to say that my husband and I actually really enjoyed our meal here this time! We were walks in and sat at the bar! Ordered cocktails, the spicy sausage pizza, the carpaccio, and the arugula endive with shrimp! All very tasty options! Enjoyed each and every meal and now I don't think I can have the endive salad without the shrimp add on (very delicious combo). One star off just because the bar service wasn't great and didn't offer a dessert menu but overall will definitely come back. Had to give an upgraded review after such a pleasant dinner! read more

Wow! I decided to have Italian on my recent visit to Boston and stumbled across Posto in Cambridge. Don't browse the menu for too long just make a reservation and go. The cocktail drinks knocked my socks off. The garlic bread is a must as an appetizer. The shrimp pesto as an entree is enough to feed a small family but let me tell you all members of the family will be happy with this choice it was delicious. The restaurant playlist had me singing along through the entire night. I loved my dining experience and can't wait to come back. read more

The Marguerita felt a little flat. I also tried the Soppressata which was delicious! And my favorite was the Prosciutto, which did not skimp on the Prosciutto at all! The best thing here are the toppings (because the quality of ingredients is off the charts) and the creative flavor combos. Pizzas are a little expensive but the restaurant is fancy. Personally, I am a North End snob, I find it way overpriced and overhyped, so I love to find delicious alternatives in and around Boston, such as Posto! This was a very pleasant surprise. It is in a quiet street near Davis Square in Somerville, and they have a large and bright dining room. It was a sunny afternoon so we opted for a spot on their 'private' outdoor space. While it did take a little bit to have the waiter come out and get out order, we were baffled by how quick the appetizers and pizza came out. My boyfriend and I were HUNGRY - and Posto delivered. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were crispy just like we like them, and seasoned with aleppo peppers and maple syrup. I am a sucker for sweet and savory, so this was perfect. The first thing we smelled when we arrived at the restaurant was their pizza oven, and so we couldn't help ourselves but also order the mushroom pizza. The Neapolitan dough - wow - it was perfection. Crispy, chewy, just wow. We are not done yet, we also each ordered the bolognese, served with rigatoni. While the pasta was just slightly overcooked for my taste, the delicious sauce made up for it - I could eat it by the spoonful. Servings are very generous, so I was able to make the deliciousness last a little longer by enjoying my leftovers the next day. Will definitely be to check out for their happy hour deal! read more

One of the best Italian restaurants in the Greater Boston area (Somerville is part of the Greater Boston area right?) My girlfriend and I came here for date night last week and it was phenomenal. Our waitress was very polite and our food came out quickly, which was great because we were starving. We split the mushroom pizza as an appetizer. I haven't had good white pizza in a while - this was quality and the spinach paired really well with the sauce. We also had the Brussels sprouts for an app and that was delicious. I don't love Brussels sprouts, but they were crispy and had a nice kick to them. Would definitely recommend. The bolognese really stole the show. A delicious peppery sauce to go with the pasta and meat. Man, so good. I used some pizza crust to scoop up the remaining sauce. We also had some nice seats outside which was great. Definitely check this place out if you are a fan of delicious Italian food. read more

Posto has been a neighborhood favorite of ours for the past few years, and I just have to commend them on how they are handling COVID-19 precautions. If you haven't dined out yet under the 'new norm' yet, POSTO is the place to go. They really have it down to a science. They are doing service safely, still with a smile (under a mask) and providing the same excellent food and beverage that we remember from simpler times. We have been getting takeout from them, as well, which has been excellent every time. They have separate outside areas for take out / delivery app people, so they don't interrupt your outdoor dining experience. read more

The restaurant itself is very nice inside and clean, however the service is very slow even when the restaurant is pretty much empty. The food itself isn't bad, but way too expensive for the quality. You have to pay extra to get pasta with the chicken parm, and for being named Posto they had little pasta dishes. I just do not think it is worth the price or time. read more

Only finally tried Posto after years of living down the road and whew did it not live up to the hype. The ambiance is slightly upscale, but lively! It's a popular local spot, and as walk-ins we were seated a the bar. The service was kind, but very slow. We managed to get our drinks, which were disappointing, but the food was a long wait--at one point I considered that I could've picked up dough and cooked myself a pie in less than half the time. When our eggplant pizza finally arrived, I was kicking myself even harder--there was woefully little basil or caramelized onions, which were the only two elements that had any flavor to them. Extremely disappointing for the long wait and a place that specializes in pizza. Our gnocchi, on the other hand, was quite good and hearty, and I'd recommend it to anyone needing a warm, comforting stew. read more

Came for their "Feast of The Seven Fishes." First two courses were tasty. Tuna tartare with cucumber on a crisp cracker, cod fritter, and an oyster with a nice fruit accent. The oyster came atop sand (warning, do not eat). Then came a delightful warm salad with potatoes and thinly sliced octopus. The monkfish followed- delicate and lovely, with the olive oil and fingerling potatoes. We ordered baked bread to scoop up the sauce. It was a little doughy on the ends (could have used a slightly longer bake, but was nice). Then came the prosciutto wrapped cod. I am not a big cod fan. The beans underneath had a nice sauce but were a bit under done. We each chose a different dessert. The winner was the chocolate dessert with hazelnuts though- so decadent! The waitress had recommended a moscato with the dessert. When she didn't remember to bring it she apologized profusely. It would have been a nice gesture to comp the glass. read more

First time here and everything was very tasty. My only complaint was that my pasta was slightly overcooked. Not worth sending back but a pet peeve of mine. I would say that Posto has solid Italian food and they executed well on all the dishes we ordered. Nice ambience, good service, and the food was fine. I had the Bolognese and my husband had the short rib pizza, which he said was very good. The brussels sprouts and Caesar salad were well cooked and executed. Nicely seasoned. Again, just the pasta bummed me out but I don't like to send food back. So I didn't. My feeling is that if you are a fine Italian restaurant,the pasta should be cooked perfectly. It doesn't have to be al dente but it shouldn't be mushy. Oh well. Perhaps next time. Something to keep in mind and maybe mine was just a one off. read more

Partner and I came for Happy Hour special. Eat at the bar. Order an appetizer, pizza and dessert for $18. (Note: The options are more limited on the Happy Hour menu than the full dinner menu. For instance, there were only two desert options, canolis and tiramasu.) For appetizers, we ordered the argula and ceasar salads, which both solid. We tried the margarita and mushroom, which were both very good. The dough was thin. For the margita in particular, the pizza was so soft in the middle I needed to eat it with a fork (like people often do in Italy). The crusts were charred at the edges. The pizza was so large (12-inches) that I could only eat half and save room for the salad and dessert. We tried both deserts as well. The tiramasu was splended. The canolis were bland for my taste, unfortunately. We had good service at the bar. The bartender filled our water several times. 4.5 stars. Had a great dinner at Posto last night! I had been there before, but not in a while. I made a reservation for 6 PM for 2 people on a Tuesday night. My friend and I both got there about 5 minutes late, but they didn't make a big deal about it. Also, the place was pretty empty at that time. There was a bit of hub-bub to get seated. They asked us to wait a couple minutes (in an almost-empty restaurant) and then the family who came in after us got seated first. Then, they took us to a crowded table right behind someone else and we asked to be moved. After another minute, they were able to accommodate by taking us into the back room (though it could have been one of the other 30 empty and not crowded tables, but whatevs). My friend had noticed that it was rose flight day. Yay! We both got a flight of rose at $15. the 3 pours were decent, so it was worth it and the wine was lovely. We got a card telling us about the region/methodology of the wine, but nothing about the "notes" (e.g. - hint of strawberry - blah blah). For dinner, I got the tagliatelle bolognese and my friend got the arancini and mixed greens salad. The food came out so quickly! My bolognese was lovely. A nice, rich, meaty sauce, tons of shaved parm on top and perfectly cooked noodles. My friend scarfed her arancini and salad. Every bite was devoured! We then got more drinks (a glass of rose for me and a cucumber fresca for her). My friend then got the tiramisu. It's not my jam (I don't like the texture of the cake in general). She loved it and ate the whole thing! The server we had was a delight! Super friendly, smiling and up for giving (good) recommendations. A lot has changed in this place since the last time we visited Boston. For one the decor and atmosphere has changed from cozy but modern feel to a full modern look. Reminds me more of a nightclub then an Italian restaurant. Second, the food quality has changed. There was something memorable about the carbonara, not just the egg over the top that made it feel "true" Italian, but the condiments used and the taste. The current offering is a thick consistency with a strong flavor of cream along, no parm, no fresh aromatics. Very blaaaa. Third.. we not only pay a premium for the food but we also pay for the kitchen employees. Sorry, but your employee labor is adjusted to the cost of the food. Not only are you charging $20 for a simple pizza but 5% Kitchen Admimistrative Fee!! Insane! Not recommend! read more

I have never written a review of any restaurant good or bad before but the experience I just had in this restaurant needs to be told so no one has to experience anything similar. My friend has severe food allergies and cannot eat from any kitchen other than her own, she brings her own food everywhere and has never run into any issue of a restaurant caring that she was eating outside food. As she was eating, the manager came up to our table and started yelling and berating her that outside food is not allowed to the point where our entire party chose to leave the restaurant. Despite telling him she had severe allergies that cannot be accommodated for in the kitchen she was told she needed to show proof of her disability in order to simply eat her meal. If you have any sort of disability do not come here. I have never seen anything like what we just experienced in my life and I hope no one else's friend or family member has to experience anything similar for simply trying to exist. read more

Really nice to eat at the tent in a converted parking lot, covered. Which was useful, since it started raining during dinner time. The appetizers were rather delicious. The meatballs were tender, though some of the individual meat pieces within each meatball had a texture that was a bit dense. There was a layer of mozarella cheese on top of each meatball. I do prefer a lighter, fluffier meatball, but this one was good as well. The arancini balls were also excellent. Within each morsel was as mix of cheese and arborio rice. It was nice that it wasn't too salty. The tomato sauce accompanying had a rich sumptuous flavor. The calamari, fried with lemon and an aioli, was the weakest of the evening. The breading was too stiff, and although the squid protein itself was juicy, its freshness was undone by the breading. The bibb salad was delicious. Despite one or two bits of pomegranate that were less than fresh, the balance of fresh greens, fruit, and candied walnuts (these were crushed, and didn't feel super sweet) made for an interesting texture that was nice to chew through. The fingerling potatoes with octopus and capers was the best dish of the evening - the onions were diced / sliced nicely, the potatoes roasted very well, and the octopus tender. A really well-executed dish. Finally, the mushroom and garlic spinach pizza was fairly flavorful, with a mix of mushroom varieties matched with plentiful amts of spinach. The cheese was a bit salty, but it's a solid pizza. Generally a very nice meal! read more

Really great food and possible to get a table without a reservation on a Friday night! I have been to posto a few times and have been impressed by the food and the atmosphere. You can grab a seat at the bar or attempt the waitlist in addition to reservations which is a plus and hard to come by in Boston. Their pastas and pizzas are great (and make sure to get an order of the panne!) and the food always comes out really fast. I dined here with two colleagues on a weeknight and we had a lovely meal that was nearly perfect. The restaurant was comfortable with a nice vibe that was not too loud, the seating was comfortable, the food arrived at a good pace and the service was good. We were seated on time when we arrived, having made a reservation earlier in the day. The hostess was pleasant and our greeting was warm. Interesting breadsticks. Long and crunchy and cheesy. For starters, we got four. The burrata with honey roasted peaches was the winner. Excellent flavor and a good portion. The meatballs were nicely sized and came in a tasty marinara sauce. The grilled octopus was the only miss as there really wasn't that much of it, buried in with the arugula and fingerling potatoes. I would not choose that one again. And a porcini mushroom pizza that was delicious and served fresh out of the oven. For main course, my spaghetti with gulf shrimp was excellent. Lots of garlic in there and not too much oil. Very flavorful and plenty of shrimp. It needed a very little bit of black pepper and a bit of parmesan cheese to be perfect. One of my dining companions chose the pappardelle with ragu and enjoyed it. Meaty and cheesy. We opted not to have dessert here at Posto but I would definitely return to this restaurant. read more

Holy. Smokes. As a recent Boston transplant from the Midwest with Italian-American heritage, I've been eager to taste the Italian-American cuisine that the East Coast seems to do so well. Posto did NOT disappoint. Every bite of the Roasted Garlic pizza is like an explosion of flavors in your mouth. The balance in each bite becomes quickly apparent, and from the sweet notes of carmalized garlic to the spicy pepper flakes punctuating each mouthful, one thing becomes clear very quickly: This pizza is a culinary masterpiece. I don't think this restaurant deserves the high starred reviews. The octopus appetizer was OK but the octopus was overcooked. This is never a miss!!! Our server last night was amazing (we had him last time we were there, too-- the guy with the ponytail -- sorry I don't remember his name). He was perfection - with the amount of times he check in on us and how he came through with all my orders for "extra sauce." Cocktails were a 10/10. Garlic pane 10/10. Pizza is an 8 --- very good, just a little soggy in the center and totally forgivable. Meatballs were 100/10 there, and 90/10 when I reheated the leftovers today. What an utter disappointment that has lingered for weeks. My 84 year old father who lives alone, had a bad case of Covid, and could not cook for himself while sick. I ordered Posto food to be delivered to him for Father's Day on Saturday, June 18th. I live in California, so I wanted him to have a little slice of Italian to make him feel special. I ordered from Posto's website at the 5:00 PM opening, asking for it to be delivered at the first opportunity. The order was placed without incident. I received an unidentified call, and when I answered, the person on the other end could not communicate in English. The delivery driver attempted to use Google translate, but to no avail. He could not find the house (which is off of a major thoroughfare from Somerville Ave. between Union and Porter Sq.) Lo and behold, a good samaritan called me and translated. I told him exactly where the house was, the helper stating they were right around the corner. He relayed the info to the driver and it appeared my dad was moments away from enjoying his Arancini balls and Margherita pizza. Wrong. I called my dad to check in, and no delivery.  Nothing. Nada. Nientè.  I called the delivery driver back, and no answer. Placed a call to the restaurant, told the hostess the dilemma, and she said I would have to call Doordash to remit my money. We all know you can't just call up Doordash. I gave her my contact information and asked for a return call. The next day, I filled out the "contact us" form on the Posto website requesting a callback.  Nothing. Nada. Nientè. I called back the next day, another hostess answered, and I asked to speak with a manager. She stated there was no MOD, that she would pass my info along. Still No Callback  At this point, this is getting my Irish up, and the Italian/Irish combination will not bode well for those on the receiving end. Several more days go by, and again, I call the restaurant, and finally speak with a manager. I give him the ticket number and with a lack of any empathy for the story, my dad, me having to chase down the business, he states he'll refund the money. For that portion I am grateful. But this is more than just a reimbursement of my $50.00 (I know, for one pizza and rice balls...criminal.) I asked to speak with his leadership and he said they were not on site, but he'll pass the story along to them and have them call me back. I asked when, he said to give them a couple of days. That was 8 days ago. Nothing. Nada. Nientè. My last attempt was two days ago, where I sent a message through Yelp to contact me. Nothing. Nada. Nientè. Perusing the other less than stellar reviews here, it appears that ownership is not concerned about providing a superior customer experience. I've worked in the F&B industry for over 20 years, and the lack of follow up is distressing. To quote the owner, Joe, "Our staff will go out of their way to ensure that you have a wonderful time visiting us at Posto."  Hmmm. Apparently that means only in person, and not via delivery.  Brag all you want about your CIA alum status and other restaurant ventures. Every order puts you where you are today. I'll be choosing an alternative Italian restaurant next time and will be sure to spread the word to all of my Somerville colleagues to do similarly. read more
