Nothing tasted homemade and I got the sense that everything came directly from Sysco and was reheated/fried and then served. I got an eggplant parm sub, which didn't seem like more than premade, frozen, then fried eggplant. Meatballs were lackluster and also didn't taste particularly flavorful. Their soup was standard. Overall disappointed after hearing great things. The steak and risotto was really just steak on a huge bed of rice. The steak porcini sauce tasted like straight up wine..wasn't terrible just overwhelmingly wine flavored. We both ordered our steaks medium rare but they more tough and well done. Some of my pasta was burnt. The bread is good, the salads and stuffed mushrooms were good. Restaurant itself is cute, staff was friendly. When we arrived, we were the only table of people, and two more tables arrived after us..it took a little too long to get the food out and all three tables food came out at the same time. The food was ok, acceptable. The mussels were drowned in the bitter tomato sauce. The service was so so: I've waited for pepper and salt forever and needed to go inside to get it myself; instead of asking us if we'd like to see the dessert menu, the waiter gave us the check right after taking away the plates. We still ordered coffee and tiramisu as dessert. All the above was not something bothered us, actually. What we didn't feel happy was we were forced to tip. Usually, it happens when the party is over six and restaurants would charge 18% as service fee. However, we only had two people, and it never happened to us before. We've lived in Boston more than twenty years. They just added 20% as tip automatically without asking. It's not about money because we always tip at least 20% anyway, but we didn't like the feeling that we were "forced" to do it. We asked our waiter, and he said that's the way they did it. What's worse was they tried to trick you to tip (at least 18%) again if you paid with credit card. They used the amount with 20% tip included as the sub total and leave the tip column empty, and expected the customers to tip again. If I didn't pay attention, it's possible that our food plus tax was $102.3, but we ended up paying at $143.92, which meant we would tip 38% !! I attached the receipts as the evidence. I usually go to the one in Wintrop where you could bring your own booze; However, since my kid is going to camp around the area, we stopped by here. Solid place. inHouse-mate pasta. Always wonder why there were so little so now I know-please change as pasta is inexpensive and you might get kicked out of Italian club if you don't change 2. Have fresh pasta as a up charge-so those who like fresh fusilli can have the choice-Dave's fresh pasta I know delivers to restaurants so perhaps them or another suppler might work-I tried Dave's Fresh pasta and sauces and pasta are of good quality 3. To increase business perhaps have special one day a moth for EBCBD (60+ employees)and health center workers (200+ workers) nearby. In addition many new people moving in who are stressed out White collar workers so along waterfront, Eddy building introduce a subscription service per month the get delivered a certain number of meals. Will give you locked in monthly cash flow before the month starts. with a few tweaks you should have people lining outside your door instead of Rino's as service , ambiance, staff responds to needs of customer are far superior....food is excellent just a few gentle suggestions so please don't take offence as have no experice or expertise in food so just some ideas for you to consider.... read more

We had such a memorable and delicious meal last night at D'Parma on Sumner St in East Boston. We had chicken piccata and Angel hair with meatballs. Both were excellent. The piccata was Lu fed thin and tender, with lemony sauce the perfect consistency. The Angel hair with it was just right, not and overwhelming portion. Can't wait to return. I was so disappointed in the take out food from D'Parma's last night. I have lived in Eastie since 2006 and D'Parma's was always a favorite, we'd even had them cater family events for us. This is actually a little tough giving it a five star review because this place is a hidden gem, I am being selfish. This place was found by accident as the other popular Boston italian restaurant had no tables until really late into the evening. My family had some linguini dishes and I do remember how the pasta was so tender. The meats that came with it, tasted fresh. It's been a few months while since I ate here, and the start of my review, I apologize I cannot get into specifics, I have to say it left a lasting impression. When I arrived, I got seated right away for an early dinner on a Friday, and with the quality food you get here, I was really lucky.
