What. A. Bummer. They have a giant menu on the wall, in multiple places, with a small number of sandwiches they offer. You walk up to order, and tell them you want one of said sandwiches on said massive wall menu, just for them to say they don't have it anymore, and then they stare at you while you try to decide on the fly what you want to order, like you are the worlds largest inconvenience(there was not a single other customer in the shop). Having never stepped foot in a PotBelly before, it was frustrating. Cross it out. Make a sign. Warn people as they walk in. Whatever. Nothing I hate more than being first time customer unfriendly. While the man taking our actual order had a bit of an attitude, the guy who rang us out was kind. Sandwiches were delicious, but a bit overpriced for the size. Some patrons are more respected than others based on factors I won't mention. I ordered ahead of time for pickup and had to wait through the line as if I were ordering new. I'd first waited next to the counter to pick up but wasn't addressed by anyone. That would've been fine, but another patron came into pickup DoorDash and they greeted and fulfilled his order within seconds. I was still waiting in line for my pickup order, and I rhetorically asked why that patron was more worthy of service than myself. Note that this Potbelly location IS OPEN during COVID for TAKEOUT and DELIVERY ONLY. My friend and I decided to grab sandwiches for a picnic lunch at Tibbett's Park this past Tuesday. We pre-ordered online and I picked them up on my way to the park. I ordered the Mushroom Melt and a Mixed Berry Smoothie and my friend ordered a BLTA (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Avocado). I have been a fan of their smoothies and shakes for a long time, and so I couldn't resist getting one to go with my sammie. And I'm glad I did cause it was toasty outside at the park! The sandwiches were perfectly toasted and had a good amount of filling in them. My one complaint is that service was kinda slow, considering I had pre-ordered online. I had set my order time for pick-up at 11:50am, expecting to just grab my food and go. However, the shop was pretty busy (especially in-person takeout) and so they didn't get to bagging my food until 12:03pm. Thankfully, I wasn't in a huge rush to get anywhere. All servers were wearing masks and there are social distancing markers on the floor as well as hand sanitizer. Eh, you could do worse if you're looking for a quick sandwich for lunch or if you're too lazy to make something for dinner. Potbelly is an upgraded and reincarnated Quizno's from back in the day. You choose the sandwich you want from the large menu board and the sandwich maker prepares your concoction of proteins before it goes into the rotating oven to be heated. As it comes out from the other end, you have your options of standard condiments and veggies to add to the sandwich. I've been here a couple times to the Issaquah location and I usually get their signature sandwich, the Wreck. Why? Because sometimes you just want to get as many meats as possible. Roast Beef, Salami, Ham, Turkey and Swiss Cheese on Multi-Grain bread. The ingredients are just ok. Obviously, it's no Boar's Head, but it looks better than Subway where everything looks like it's 2 weeks past the due date. The Wreck Sandwich is everything I need. It provides sustenance and I'm full at the end. For $10, it does it's job. I would suggest getting their "Bigs" size which is the equivalent of a foot long. Even though the sandwich is slightly above average, the main reason I give Potbelly three stars is the service. The people that work here seem to be more cheerful versus other sandwich shops. They're efficient and professional. Corporate obviously aced this part when it came to the employee training manual/handbook. It's too bad there's a Panera Bread literally across the street from Potbelly. Otherwise, there would be more business coming their way. Not sure who chose this location, but they could've done better. Nonetheless, if it was between Panera and Potbelly, I would choose Potbelly 3 times out of 10. It's just whatever I feel on that given day. However, I would choose Potbelly over the other sandwich shops like Subway, Jimmy John's, and Jersey Mike's. We used to go to various Potbelly restaurants several times a month (sometimes once a week), but have been disappointed in them the past few years. They used to be able to make any sandwich into a salad and I tried that when they removed a great Mediterranean salad that had roasted peppers in it, chopped red onions, etc . They won't let you do that any more, so the similar sandwich can't be morphed into a salad. Then they got rid of the Potbelly vinaigrette, which was amazing (you're left with ranch, super-sugary fat-free balsamic or regular balsamic). We started to go less often, and usually to this location since it was closer. The quality is hit and miss. We ordered a kid PB&J for our son and it was expensive with barely any jam or PB on it. We got a spoon and scraped the little of it from the sando because otherwise he'd be eating just mostly dry bread. Some of the staff are attentive, some seem distracted and might forget the extra peppers you want, or it might not be busy but the tables aren't bussed and they're chatting. Sometimes the lettuce in the salads seems wilty or there's bad leaves there, so quality control is also variable. The amount of 'stuff' on the sandwiches (meat, cheese), is generally on the low side, and then Potbelly changed their rewards program so reward points don't count towards combos, which is what we usually order... and they removed some soups too! So partly some frustration with the chain, partly with the location. When you get a proper sandwich it's a good sandwich! But with the prices they charge it should really be spot on all the time. The soups are quite good (hence some of the disappointment with the ones they removed). Our favourites are the vegetable and the chicken pot pie. The staff are usually friendly, and the funky decor we've always found nice. They also have high chairs, FYI. read more

There were a lot of hype about this sandwich place, and so was my expectation. Unfortunately, this did not meet my expectation. My family gave a try with their sandwiches and we ordered different ones to try each other's as well. I ordered the grilled chicken and swiss cheese (replaced the cheddar), brother got the roast beef, and my dad got the Mediterranean (good vegetarian option). I liked how there was an option to get the bread thin sliced and whole wheat instead of the regular because I am on a diet. There are toppings that can be paid extra and most of thw basic sandwich ingredients were free. It's like Subway. The sandwiches were also affordable. The sandwiches were okay. They were just good to eat if you don't want something too heavy, but still filling. Surprisingly, the Mediterranean sandwich, the one without the meat tasted the best. It has hummus inside so you still get the protein that you need. It's quite flavorful and a good option for someone who wants a healthier option. We ended up talking about how Jimmy John's still tops the sandwich shops. The quality of the meat is just better at Jimmy John's. Soup tasted out of a can. I didn't like it, and my dogs both didn't want to eat it either. Sandwich was okay, but nothing to brag about. I can find better ones at Safeway.
