I'm a frequent customer at this potbelly location and normally have a good experience with doing pickup orders through the app. My experience today was not good at all. I ordered the turkey breast sandwich and the bacon on it tasted very burnt. It was so unpleasant and made the entire sandwich taste bitter. I also ordered mac & cheese which I was the most excited for because I was really craving it!!! Unfortunately, I was given mac & cheese that looked like it had been sitting out for days. The noodles were so dry they were all completely falling apart and there was no cheese sauce because of how dry it was. It was the consistency of overcooked butter noodles in a big clump. I was in the area shopping and craving a sandwich. I didn't even realize that this Potbelly's existed until driving by on the way to B&N. My mom and I stopped in. We've been to Potbelly's before, so knew the menu and what to expect. I picked up a meatball sub but was disappointed that they didn't have any plain Voodoo chips (only Voodoo Heat). Also got a brownie cookie, and picked up some chili to take home for later. Mom tried a flatbread sandwich. Overall, this location seems nice and big and clean. Lots of cute Joliet paraphernalia on the walls and typical Potbelly's flair. The food was standard, flatbread wasn't great, and the chili was appreciated later. The staff was a little slow and seemingly not in the greatest of moods, even though we were the only two there for most of the time. Nope, nope, triple Nope! For one, the young cashier herself was very friendly. I didn't even mind the wait. I was pulled over after my order and told to wait. Which I did. When my food came I thanked the young lady and pulled off. Then I got home : Dun dun! I ordered a turkey sandwich with no cheese, an uptown chicken salad no bleu cheese and a chili no cheese. Potbelly is our "go-to" place for sandwiches while running errands and taking trips. We like their menu and their service. HOWEVER, this particular restaurant does not live up to what we expect from a Potbelly. We've been here 3x in the last month and every time they got our order wrong. Also, the quality of the food is below standards. For example, on our second visit, the avocado was black and obviously overripe and our oatmeal chocolate chip cookie tasted bad. We had to toss out both the avocado and the cookie (how do you mess up a cookie?). Most of the lettuce was wilted. Yesterday was the last straw, when they forgot the chicken in a chicken salad! I had to wait in line to get my order fixed, even though several staffers saw me standing in line with the salad in hand, waving my receipt at them - surely you should handle problem orders ahead of unplaced orders! It took 8 minutes to get the missing chicken. They accidentally gave us something that we didn't order, which if repeated often enough, cuts into their profit and ability to stay open and suggests that they probably shorted another customer. I have ordered online from this store twice. Both times I was left waiting to pick up my items, and most recently my order was incorrect. I have been to other Potbelly stores where I can just pop in, grab my items from the shelf, and go. Not this store, not even close. The first time, I was waiting at the counter. 3 employees came up to me to tell me it would be a minute until they could help me. Apparently me grabbing an online order to go, a transaction that could literally take less than 10 seconds, is less important that the drive through customers. You took the time to walk over to me, just grab my bag that is right in front of you and pass it over the counter to me. Today at 11:15am I submitted an online order for 11:45am. I arrived at approximately 11:50am. I did not leave with my items until 12:05pm. Again, no one would help me for several minutes. I was acknowledged, but nothing was communicated to me about what was going on. After standing there for several minutes, I realized that my order was never made! WHAT IS THE POINT ORDERING ONLINE AHEAD OF TIME?! When I left and got back to work, I realized my order was wrong and my sandwich included an ingredient that i requested was to be left off- an ingredient that I am allergic to. INEDIBLE! I gave this place two tries before I made the decision to review. Both experiences were horrific. First off I've been so excited for this location to open up because I've had so many good experiences with the Joliet Jefferson st location. Finally, I stopped by one evening after work. I have never been inside a Potbelly before so I wasn't really familiar with the setup of the restaurant. You have to walk to the opposite side of the store to place your order. The menus are hanging off to your right on the wall when you're standing at the counter. I'd prefer them behind the counter so that you can face the person you are ordering from, but no harm no foul. I mistakenly walked to the wrong counter at first and the cashier instructed me to go to the end and place my order. I apologized and told them I had only ever been in the drive-thru. I started off my order with a young lady that took my first sandwich request and then told me to hold on and some else would finish my order......ok? Another older lady comes over and makes me repeat the first part of my order and then allows me to order my second sandwich. I only had two sandwich orders and somehow she kept getting this mixed up stating she was like "Finding Dory" and forgot things as soon as she was told.......again ok? Maybe not the right fit for this restaurant. All you're ordering is type of bread and type of sandwich. I stood there awkwardly for a bit after ordering my sides of soup and mac & cheese until the woman instructed me you move forward to order toppings. So I move forward and a young woman seemed unsure of the types of sandwiches I ordered so I clarified what they were. She proceeded to add toppings and then hand me the sandwiches. I told her that this was a carry out order and to place my items with the rest of my food but she insisted I take the sandwich until I reach the cashier.....ok? So I get to the young lady at the cashier's counter and I also inform her that this is a carry out order and I am waiting on the sides that I ordered. She then proceeds to ask me if I would like a bag! I told her yes please as I have two sandwiches and two sides and crackers and chips!! Why on earth would I not want a bag? She then hands be a bag with my soups in it and I had to place my own sandwiches in there. I have NEVER experienced this anywhere. Even subway bags all of your items for you. So I get home to eat my less than mediocre sandwich and I can't help thinking how sad it looks. The soup was fine. I told myself maybe they just have the opening jitters and if I did give them another chance it would be a drive-thru experience. Fast forward to drive-thru experience. I went through the drive-thru and ordered with ease. Again two sandwiches (one with avocado) and two soups. Waited an UNREASONABLE amount of time for my food to the point where I put my car in park and resumed my episode of shameless to pass the time. Here's the kicker. I get home to open my order and see two sandwiches 60% made of mayo, super salty, and NO DARN AVOCADO that I paid extra for :( !!! There wasn't even any cheese on the sandwich (sigh). I will be honest ans say that my significant other and I did not eat this food. He took two bites and then we had to throw it away. What a waste! I am so disappointed in this location and angry that I wasted $40+ on two meals that were barely edible. This is supposed to be a gourmet deli sandwich shop and this location is far from fulfilling that standard. I will continue to frequent the Jefferson st location (that's further from me) as I have NEVER had an issue getting the quality we pay for. Now this is really hard for me to give si h a low rste for one of my favorite sand which places. I came here for the first time since it's on my way home and I ordered an uptown salad two sandwiches and a soup. Spent 40 dollars Or so and as soon as I get home I open my salad and the apples and extremely brown and welter, the grapes are really soggy and the chicken is not good. The potatoe soup is bland and lumpy and the sandwiches are ver soggy. This is lot what you expect for gourmet shop. Heck I can get fresher ingredients from Wendy's at a cheaper price. I'm really disappointed in this new location as I usually go the the one on Jefferson and never have this type of problem. If this place doesn't get on track might as well close it since it is just giving Potbelly's a really bad name. So disgusted! read more

My husband and I frequent multiple different locations of Potbelly's on a monthly basis. They are close to our jobs and home, we enjoy the healthier options and quick friendly service....but tonight was the final straw for Joliet. I am not interested in free food or an apology BUT management of this Joliet location MUST focus on quality control and get this store aligned with Bolingbrook, Plainfield, and the Joliet location on Jefferson St. I wish I was exaggerating but something is inevitably wrong with my orders when at this location. I know there are bigger issues than a messed up food order but I know this store can do better by their customers...look to other stores for help! Very friendly staff and service. The sandwiches are very tasty. The Wreck is a favorite! The soups are also very good. The only negative is that they're a bit pricey. Over $25 for two sandwiches and two orders of soup. This doesn't even include a drink. This is the main reason why I only have lunch here once a month. But all in all, a very nice place. read more

I was excited when this location opened up a few months ago. And when I visited for the first time a few weeks ago I actually expected there to be a few hiccups, which is usual with places when they first open. Much to my surprise there were none. The food was good, the service was good and fast as well. Fast forward to this past Sunday. I went in at 12:30 in the afternoon and the experience was completely different. The guy behind the counter could not seem to follow basic instructions and take orders accurately. Then the guy that was actually put in the condiments on the sandwiches did not really seem like he knew what he was doing either. And the manager girl seemed to be manning both the cash register and the drive through at the same time. Our total wait time in line was over 12 minutes despite a poster on the wall stating that the maximum wait time is only eight minutes. This place needs to get it together. None of there three employees were friendly (Saturday 2/18 at noon) I placed my order and said so Swiss, use provolone. Two seconds later I saw cheese with holes going on my sandwich and was flashed a ride look when I corrected him. The cashier has dual responsibility of the drive through window and register but fails miserably. First time I visited this location was about a month after opening. Ordered 2 grilled chicken and cheddar sandwiches and both had a lot of artichokes on it, didn't bother calling as I thought it was probably a trainee mistake. I've tried it 3 more times since then due to it being so close to home and the sandwiches never seem fresh, kind of soggy and the ingredients aren't crunchy. There are either extra condiments that I didn't ask for or missing condiments I did ask for. I don't think this would bother me so much but the location on Jefferson is always consistent with good sandwiches and fresh ingredients. I ordered a Mediterranean sandwich and specified no feta cheese. The girl taking my order repeated it back to me to make sure my order was right. It also says on the receipt no cheese. I am sensitive to dairy and ended up having a severe reaction from this. I looked closely half way through eating it and the feta cheese was mixed in with the hummus. I always check my food anyways before eating it and could not tell there was any on it. Stay clear if you have any allergies or sensitivities, they are careless. read more
