Absolutely the rudest and meanest employees I've ever encountered in the fast casual industry. My sandwich was completely missed for 15 minutes and the order taker acted like he knew what my order was and then sent the wrong sandwich through. I ordered a sandwich I thought was just chicken, and he gave me the rudest and demeaning response ever, treating me like a child. It's also incredibly smoky inside, the service is woefully slow, and employees openly complain about customers. Zero stars, but Yelp's lowest is 1 star. I ordered a roast beef sandwich for lunch. The bread and toppings were great, but the meat was not. I didn't notice it right away, but after tasting that something was off, I deconstructed my sandwich and saw the roast beef was very gray... Unfortunately, I had already eaten enough of it that I became quite sick afterward. My doctor later diagnosed me with post-infectious IBS following this incident. I generally give businesses the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard to understand how meat in that condition made it onto a sandwich when staff are assembling it and can see what they're serving. Back home we don't have Potbelly's so it has been years since I frequented one. I had forgotten how good their sandwiches were. We stopped in while visiting DC to get food to take back to our hotel. We found a busy place, a bit crowded and dark, with seating inside and out. They have three points of contact, a place to order your sandwich meats, cheese and bread, a place to add your toppings, and a place to pay. I ordered A Wreak, their signature sandwich, a perfect choice for me with all that meat. Before toppings are added the sandwich is run through an oven to get all toasty. At the second stop they offer 9 different toppings, I had them include most. After that I took my wrapped sandwich to the register area to pay. Pretty easy. My sandwich was messy and large and great. I hope Potbelly makes it to my city someday. read more

The service at the register. I was on my 30min lunch break. I ordered online. My order was ready at 1:08pm. I went to the register and waiting to be greeted. But the gentle at the register walked off for a sec. when he came back I had to get his attention and let him know that I was picking up an order. I showed him my order and he proceeded to mumble something. When he came back I leg him know that I couldn't understand what he said and asked him to repeat himself. He let me know that he was telling another customer to wait a minute . I asked , well what about my order. He proceeded to walk off And service other customers. Wow! This location changed! When I used to live here for two years ago, this is a potbelly I used to pick up lunch for him to go sit in front of the White House. But wow. all workers all had stinky attitudes and took forever to make our sandwich, which is an assembly line. I mean look 30 minutes to make 3 sandwiches with no customization. The only good thing about this place is that I order an avocado turkey, and they actually gave me avocado that was visible in my sandwich versus other potbelly locations. Located closed to The White House and a catty corner from the Executive Office Building. If you choose there is plenty of outdoor seating and on a beautiful Winter day in DC in the 60's it was full. Stepped indoors to order on this my first visit. Cool place with lots of wood, tables and chairs. The line forms right down the middle, but don't let it intimidate you, it moves super fast. Bottle drinks are as you walk by in line and a menu board is just above with a lot to think about. They guys behind the counter were super friendly and smiled the whole time. An order of a pizza sandwich and my son a meatball sub. We could not resist the shakes either. I got a coffee and my son vanilla. It took no time at all for the orders to be up and if you want grab some chips under the counter, the selection is huge. Check out was efficient, friendly and prices fair. Dining room was clean and we sat inside to enjoy. Immediately we enjoyed the shakes and I loved the presentation with the two small sugar cookies over the straws. They were darn good too! I work across the street from this Potbelly and generally like Potbelly, but this is the worst run location I have ever been to by a mile. I've gone twice now. Today I ordered online and the bag that had my name on it had someone else's order in it. Seriously, look at the picture. The last time I tried to order inside, and the person at the counter (who was rude) messed up my sandwich, the soup of the person behind me, and the sandwich of the person in front of me. We all complained. It's funny because I work in an office with lots of people and we all joke about how this Potbelly must not like money since nobody goes there because it's so badly run. read more

Great place for a quick, tasty and affordable lunch. They had a HUGE line when we came, but they don't lie- 8 minutes or less. I was super impressed by their service. They make it the way you want it, but they have a bunch of different combinations you can get. I tried all my friends' sandwiches and enjoyed them all- honestly you can't go wrong with any sandwich here. They also have good combos for chips, soups and salad (broccoli cheddar yum!). Also if you're watching your figure, there is calorie information for each sandwich as well as a "light" menu. Lunch after a long day of walking. We had an early lunch so when we arrived it was not crowded at all and no lines to wait in. The staff was ready to take food orders when we got there. The inside was clean and big. There is ample seating in this restaraunt. There was a lady sitting in a bar stool that looked as if it was about to break, it was leaning a little! Full disclosure I was a chef and a manager in the restaurant business for 15 years. This review is not about the food, the sandwich was good. This review is about the "managers". Long story short, there was a VERY long line and 2 employees were trying to work 4 stations while four managers were chilling not doing anything, just sitting at a table. Maaayybbeee they were having a meeting but either way it showed extremely poor management and customer service skills for those managers to sit there and basically not work, they looked lazy, straight up. The young lady and young man who were working did a great job but they had to take orders, make the sandwiches, make milk shakes, run the cashiers, etc. Personally as a former restaurant professional I haaatteeee seeing good employees being managed by bad managers and that's exactly what I saw today. read more
