Trash not picked up Friday - June 12th. Sent email. No response. As of Monday June 15th still not picked up. Called Monday afternoon (301-294-9700) and on hold for 43 minutes. Then disconnected. Called back and received recorded message from Verizon . . . call could not be completed. Check the number. Tried 2 more times and received the same Verizon message. So much for customer service. And the March 2026 quarterly invoice had an increase to the base rate. So folks . . . pay more to receive less service??? read more

I called and spoke with Chasity last Wednesday to arrange a bulk waste pick up for Friday. The garbage was picked up on Friday and all of my bulky waste items are outside. I called back and spoke with Chasity again who informed me that they had until 6 o'clock to pick everything up. 6 o'clock came and went nobody came to pick up the bulky waste items. All items were outside all weekend. It rained three times. I had to bring all items in with the help of others. I then called this morning to Inquire about the missed pick up, and Chasity hung up on me. read more

My first review was about an odd practice when they had a ground crew and 2x a week service and was not a complaint about the actual service. I take it back. Now the pickup is done with a large tote and automated, once a week, and with the pleasure of a price increase. For years we used Potomac Disposal for our regular trash pick up. They came 2 times per week (Wednesday and Saturday). A few months ago, they changed us to 1 pick up per week with no option for the service we had prior. The price stayed the same but eventually it was reduced slightly. Wednesday was our scheduled pick up for this week. NO pick up for our entire block. I called and they insisted that it was the heat and several employees called out but they would have a reserve truck come by today. So far, NO TRUCK and it almost dark. I went with PD mainly because they are the biggest company and reliable. They were recently acquired by and even bigger company. This is the best you can do??? read more

I've used Potomac Disposal for about 30 years. In the beginning and for many years the service was excellent. During the last few years the service has gone downhill in several areas. Now I'd rate Potomac Disposal as fair. When I received my last bill it was three times the amount of the previous charge. Thinking there was an error I called. No mistake. They tripled the amount for their service. I understand a company raising their rates but THREE TIMES THE AMOUNT?! GOODBYE to Potomac Disposal. I live in a neighborhood that does not have public trash pick up. Once a week private trash is not enough

Westfarm Homeowners Association , an HOA, signed a contract with this company for trash pickup. Our previous service allowed fora maximum of 2 bulk trash- non metal- removals without charge which was very helpfu. We even had a spring and fall cleanup service which allowed for removal of household items. Potomac Disposal will take bulk trash only if you pay the staff on the truck directly or contact the company first. The reduction in service is unfortunate given that the county, Montgomery County , allows for at least 2 bulk trash pickups per year. Not sure why the Westfarm Homeowners Association board members picked this company and really hope that they change.A reduction in services is never beneficial to homeowners.As a result, some have resorted to dumping trash in the common areas which will decrease property values. Would suggest that other HOA's allow their members to review the details of contracts before signing with this company. The Westfarm Homeowners Association fees continue to rise yearly as services decrease to the detriment of homeowners. read more

This company was obviously bought out by another company because I used to have one driver and 2 helpers. Costs had to be cut so now there's only the driver coming once a week. They also require you to use their containers which must be placed precisely by the road or they won't take it. I have been a customer of Potomac Disposal for several years now. The men who physically provide the service are kind and thorough. However, I requested a bulk pickup through their corporate offices, which is supposed to be provided upon request. Over the course of four weeks, I contacted them a total of AT LEAST 10 times, via phone, email, and their online form. I could not get a response or get the pickup scheduled. Eventually, my husband attempted the request via the online form, and our bulk pickup was scheduled within a day. While I am relieved to finally get rid of the trash, I am absolutely infuriated that it took a man's request to get a response. read more

They are honestly the worse service that you can have and Image! their price might catch your eyes, but their service is not worth it. Route 3 has missed my pickups 3 times this month and every time I call, I get someone with an awful attitude no customer service experience whatsoever. We have experienced intermittent problems with Potomac Waste over the years as a customer but nothing out of the ordinary or egregious. But today some random road rage from a Potomac Waste Disposal driver. This morning on Old Baltimore Rd. in Olney, Md. during morning rush hour traffic the driver of Potomac Waste Disposal truck #62 was blocking both lanes of traffic on a two lane road, parked over the double yellow line. Traffic stopped to allow him to collect the trash but apparently not fast enough, he started yelling at the drivers of several cars and got into a shouting match with one of the drivers who stopped. Felt bad for the other guy with him who was so obviously embarrassed. I know this is a dangerous road and I have seen drivers try to go around the truck, but that did not happen this morning. The driver just unloaded on the drivers. Tried to call the company but no one picked up the phone, hopefully they will see this. read more

It used to be a great company, but when they went Pink and Green it all fell apart - missed pickups, difficult to contact, false information, unkept promises, arrogant customer service when one was able to talk with someone, increased prices, etc. Then it appears they sold out to GFL and what was already bad got worse. There was a mix up with my billing. I thought it was on auto pay and it wasn't! So I kept throwing the bills in the trash with out looking at them! I don't know how many months I was behind before I finally caught on and called them. They were so nice about it! The guys who do the trash pick up are great too. Potomac Disposal has reliably picked up my trash for 15 years, but I parted ways with them this week because they made two sudden unannounced changes. A few months ago they doubled my rate without any warning, not even an explanation on the bill. Then last week they started requiring all clients to use company-supplied bins, again with no warning. One day I found a big, ugly bin in my driveway with a note attached explaining the new policy. The bin is too bulky to store in my garage and too ugly to leave outside. More than that, I consider it bad business practice (and simply disrespectful) to make major changes without giving clients advance notice. I have used them for more than 20 years, but the last couple of years they have been declining in service. I only get pickup once a week, and for the last coupe of months they have either come very late in the day or not at all. For two months in a row now I have had to call at least once to say the trash was not picked up. Each time they have tried to tell me I didn't put the trash out in time. However, Tuesday, my pick up day, is also when the county comes by for recycling, so I ALWAYS put out both trash containers the night before. So, again, I say the trash can has been out there. They assure me someone will be by that day. And yet, two months in a row when I've had to call and complain, no one does come to pick up the missed collection. So again today I have had to call a second time and again they assure someone will come by. This time I said, I hope so, because otherwise I'm canceling. I might still cancel. The actual taking of the trash has been successful. However, they keep breaking my trash cans!!! When we moved in we purchase a rubbermaid that the trash men destroyed in a matter of pickups. It was a rolling can with an attached lid. Recently, it broke completely so I decided to go purchase a new one. I got the "Toter" brand which is allegedly indestructable. Two days ago. This was the first pickup and there is a gaping hole in the lid. After one pickup. Everyone in my community has the same trashcan... When I called to complain, I was laughed at. Stay clear, this company absolutely is horrible. In our townhouse community, we have trash pick up twice a week. Just about every single time there was trash laying in the street from their careless workers. I complained about it with sending pictures and they claimed they changed crews. It got better for about a month and then steadily went back to like before, if not worse. Now, they don't even put the trash cans back on the sidewalk and just leave them in the parking spaces. There has been broken glass from them in the middle of the street. I recently complained about them again and they said they will forward it over to the supervisor. Everyone in my community is fed up and hopefully with bringing this to the board we can find another contract with a company that actually doesn't leave trash behind. read more

We are new to the neighborhood and just learned last night that we need private trash pick up. This is new to us and have never heard of such a thing. My neighbor said he uses Potomac Disposal. I called them up and spoke with Cindy C. What a nightmare. Cindy kept tripping over her words and giving us the wrong info on prices. My neighbor said he gets trash pickup twice per week, which I thought was good if you have to pay for it; however, Cindy said twice per week is not available for me. When I said "this is frustrating. How can twice per week be available to my neighbor directly across the street and not us?" Cindy C. said "I'm frustrating you? We don't need your business! Get another company!" Are you kidding me? I guess this is why they only have 2.5 stars on yelp. In short, we did go with another company- one that received 4.8 stars on yelp- and one that picks up twice per week. The crew that picks up our community trash has not done a very good job. I have lived here for years and have not encountered the lack of customer service or the poor way in which the crew actually does their job--pickup a trash container and put the trash in a truck. They just throw the containers anywhere once it is empty. Many times I have found my containers in someone else's yard or across the street. The crew members do not speak fluent English when trying to talk to them. They are very brisk and rude. I arrived home today with a sign on my container saying "Unacceptable" I have a garbage container and a recycle bin that I have had for a number of years and there has never been a problem. Instead of leaving a reminder or sending out a notice to the tax payers about any changes -- they just don't take the trash. read more

I had this company pick up my garbage for almost 7 years. My trash is very little as I recycle everything I can to minimize my carbon footprint I leave behind. They used to pick up my trash maybe once a month. I still paid them for the full month service on time. For the last year or so, I had to constantly call them and remind them to pick up my trash as their driver will routinely skip my trash pick up. Today, I terminated their service as they did not pick up my garbage again. No one called me back to talk to me or anything eaplaining anything to me. I called a few times and I was on the phone for over half an hour, nobody answered. They had the nerve to tell me after I emailed them that they are fired that they will not pick up my trash. They claimed that I had all yard waste in my trash cans even though it was all mixed trash. That was a lie. It was all mixed trash. Even If I put stuff in my trash bin, it means it needs to be picked up by Potomac Disposal and disposed off. They cannot pick and choose what and when they feel like picking up or not. The company has no posted guidelines as to what they will or not pick up. I did not have this problem before in the previous years. I had disposed off grass clippings, leaves, plants in trash before all the time during summer months, I never a problem. Well, their services are terminated as of today. I hired another company to do the same job. Too bad for Potomac disposal. You guys keep having this attitude, before you know it, your customers will switch and fire you. Am giving them one star for actually answering their phone. For responsiveness to my phone calls, though, zero stars. My homeowner's association contracts with Potomac Disposal to remove trash for the entire neighborhood. They come by on the pick-up days specified, no problem there. But they are extraordinarily rough on trash cans which, these days, cost over $50 to replace. First they tore out the handles on my Rubbermaid. I replaced them with ropes passed through the holes they left. Then they scraped the bottom hard and often enough to make a hole in the can. I patched that with newspapers each trash cycle. Then, the last straw: They actually lost the top cover. Didn't have a dinner plate big enough to secure my trash every week, so phoned them to report this last assault on my finally useless trash can. Receptionist was lovely, took down my story, very sympathetic. Nothing happened, tho. Called again after two weeks, same receptionist, same sympathy. Nothing happened. Called again and asked for contact info for owner or manager. Got a phone number for him, left a message on his voicemail. No response. Called receptionist again. She said call guy again. I did, he answered, I asked for new cover or replacement can. He took down info, said he'd look into it. Again. It's been several months, guess he's still looking because nothing's been done. Using borrowed substitute for now. THESE GUYS TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE DONE BY THEM. AND THEY STRING YOU ALONG, AS IF THEY ARE CONSIDERING DOING THE RIGHT THING.
