However, I was directed to the trash area for the packing foam. I know the county does not recycle foam. We will look into a way to do that. I am impressed with MOCO's effort to separate and recycle trash as much as possible. Only 4 stars due to inability to recycle packing foam.

8/23/24 Should you need to get rid of your unwanted bikes,…read more computers, refrigerators, pornographic magazine collections, yard shurbs/waste residential oil waste and all around garbage, this place is for you. Especially if the junk you have is more than the garbage workers can handle. For a long time we have had bedding frames that should have been removed by Bob's Discount Furniture. The people assigned to remove the bedding refused to take frames. Long story short,...the hell with Bob's Discount Furniture. Today, I am taking the bed flats to The Montgomery County Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center. When I lived in Rockville, I remember passing this place a number of times and never gave it a second thought. The signs for where to go aren't to clear, but once you enter through the main gates it pretty much a direct path. Once you get to the top of the hill, the garbage waste is on the left. There is also a place to get rid of unwanted oil. If you go to the left, the first station you will see on your right is the electronics center. This is for unwanted computers, tv's, playstation, xbox and holiday lights to name a few. Behind the electronics disposable is the paper recycling center. Unwanted bicycles are sometimes deposited here as well. The next location is for Residential Oil Waste. I have not needed to visit this location except for driving around it. Getting rid of the planks from our old bed was very satisfying. Granted I would have like to recycle the wood, but I had more issues with trying to recycle wood "the right way", that I no longer cared what happened to the wood. Nevertheless, in just a few short minutes I was able to get rid of what I did not want. This place makes the Virginia Recycling Center look like child's play. My plan is to get rid of the last three sections of our old bed by next week. We will see what happens when that time comes.

My mom was moving out of our longtime family home and needed junk removed (beds, old drawers with…read morepen marks, etc). Having never moved out of said home before, none of us knew exactly what to do - hire a junk removal company? Rent a truck and take it to the dump? Where exactly even is the dump? Who was going to do this? Certainly not I. Luckily, Yelp's Request a Quote was super easy to use for the first time and I was able to reach out to Spartan Junk Removal (I saw their five stars AND response time and was sold), plus five other companies. Spartan Removal was the first to respond - yes, their response time was exactly as stated. Chris W gave me info about how a consult/estimate would work, as well as provided links to their website for pricing (based on truck size) and a link to schedule. I was truly blown away by how quickly they got back to me, plus the very transparent pricing. I feel like most companies don't have that info out in the open and need you to text a photo, someone to come out first, etc. This was as far as my experience with Spartan Removal went since I handed the reigns to my younger guy cousin and boyfriend (they're basically my help lolz, although not sure they know that). Very impressed and will definitely consider using Spartan in the future! #ServiceStarShoutout

They Communicate so well. They Listen! They also have called a few times to tell me that they were running early and would I mind if they came a little early?! Which is very good for me because my energy flags as the day goes by. I tend to call them before holidays when things get a little ahead of me and I can use a boost getting things streamlined. They also have helped me with heavy Furniture units. Getting one large oak table down from the upstairs. And moving a mahogany unit from one room to the other. It was done beautifully. Friends and I used to be able to handle these things but not anymore! 70 is really not the new 50, I must tell you!!! Again, many thanks as always!

I cannot recommend College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving based on my experience…read more I booked my move well in advance and was given an arrival window of 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. On moving day, no one showed up, and no one contacted me to let me know there would be a delay. After the arrival window passed, I called the local office more than 15 times. Although someone answered the phone, they could not provide an estimated arrival time or tell me when, or if, the movers would arrive. I also contacted the corporate office, and even two managers there were unable to get answers from the local Maryland branch. The general manager did not contact me until several hours after my scheduled arrival window had ended. By around 4:00 p.m., I still had no idea whether my move would happen that day. Because I had to vacate my home and meet my lease deadline, I had no choice but to hire another moving company on extremely short notice. The replacement move cost me $1,517.10, which was significantly more than the $1,203.25 estimate I had accepted from College HUNKS. I understand that delays happen. What was unacceptable was the complete lack of communication. If someone had simply called me to explain the situation or let me know they could not complete my move, I could have made other arrangements much earlier and avoided the additional expense and stress. Moving is already one of the most stressful experiences a person can go through. The lack of communication from this office turned an already difficult day into an incredibly frustrating one. I hope this office improves its communication so that other customers do not have to experience the same situation.
