I have been working with Randy, the owner for the last 5 years. With each and every interaction he has been gracious and fair. More importantly, he gets to the heart of the problems and fixes them. In our situation, we have a super old boiler from the 80's and Randy has been helping to massage it along. He never tried to sell me a salesman pitch. He offers what he thinks is a good idea and not because he is merely focused on making a profit. This last night, our Boiler went out. Worst customer service ever. They never answer their phones, getting call back is never same day and usually the 2nd or 3rd business day. Also, ridiculous oil prices that they lock you into when signing a service contract. Buyer Beware. Do your research. Ask questions. Mid December 2017 our gas furnace stopped working. Randy was able to come by after hours to address our issues. It turned out that it was more cost effective to just purchase a new furnace as the one we had was approximately 20 years old. Within three days Randy and his crew completed installation on our new furnace and installed a new temperature control panel. We have used Poulsbo Heating for oil delivery as well as service on the furnace that stopped working. On two occasions I called about the furnace that wasn't working and despite the company having a full schedule, I was still able to get heat in the house the same day. Randy has come to fix the furnace in the snow and at 10pm; when he says he'll get the furnace working today, he means it. The price was more than reasonable for the service work. We just moved to Kingston in October 2016. As the weather turned cold, our furnace began to have trouble. I contacted Poulsbo Heating for help. They arrived within an hour and quickly resolved the issue. My house was warm again in no time. We had another unrelated issue in January 2017 where my furnace stopped heating. I first called in early September as our furnace would not fire on the first or second time we turned up the thermostat. I have kept track of the times I have called, 16 in all and with no attempt on Poulsbo Heating Company to return my call. They are impossible to work with - I highly recommend not using them. We needed a new oil furnace and tank installed. We originally had several email exchanges to try to work out details. They said he had to install in order to get warranty on the furnace. Then they stopped replying to emails and phone calls. When I finally sent an email asking them if they could reply - they said they would only sell us the furnace and not install. The sale price is significantly hired than internet. read more

Customer service is obviously not high on the priority list of this company. We rent a home and our landlady uses Poulsbo Heating's services. When our heat went out I called first thing yesterday morning and he said, "Can't come until after lunch. I'll call you back in an hour with a ball park of when we will be out there." As I would have to leave work to be home to let them in, that was ok...until they never called back. So I called and left two email. Finally I gave them one more chance and said, if they could not call me back, they must be too busy and I'd find another repairman this time. It was now a balmy 52 in the house and due to someone in the house with compromised health, we were anxious to either get the heat fixed or find a hotel room for the night. The repairman showed up at 6 pm and got the furnace to limp along for the night but announced the fan motor would need to be replaced. The next morning the landlady called to say that they had the part and would be out "sometime today" but no specifics. I had to take another day off from work to wait. By 5pm I'd given up hope as it was Friday. At 6 they showed up and two men got out of the van and trekked up to the house. I went out to greet them and thank them for coming and they absolutely did not respond to me. Not one word. They walked to the back of the house and down the cellar steps and inside. I went through the house and went down to ask them what was up. No response. They just hunted around for a plug for their hanging lamp but their cord was too short...and you guessed it! They had no extension cord. I offered one of mine from the workbench. No response. Nothing. I tossed in on the floor and went upstairs in disgust to call the landlady. While away they obviously found the cord useful as It was put into use. The next person went down to confront them for their rude behavior and got NO response. He asked them again louder if they could speak and did they speak English. Mr. Lee mumbled something but it was not clear what he said. And then Mr. Lee shrugged his shoulders and went back to working on removing the furnace cover. After the work was finished, I was outside waiting for them to return from the cellar to confront them on their behavior and to ask for identification. Mr. Lee tried to say he could not talk before because he was "up to my arms in exposed wires and did not want to be electrocuted.". Funny, I did not know that I had loose wires in my driveway or backyard when he walked up from his van to our basement stairs. He tried to put it off as working 18 hour days etc. He offered no apology for his behaviors and only offered excuses. When I tried to call their company # to place a complaint I got a recording that said to call back during business hours. So I put a statement on FB about the dreadful customer service their man in the field provided. Mr. Lee's wife Brenda stated erroneously that as the renter I had no right to talk to the repairman and that he could just come in my basement as that is what the landlady said he could do. I am shocked that they have no understanding of the laws regarding renter's rights. NO ONE not even the Landlady has the right to enter my home without my specific approval/invitation/knowledge. Her surly, snarky, nasty response to feedback is indicative of their attitudes toward their customers. For now we have heat, and for that I am grateful for their service; however, if I were to personally hire someone to service or repair my heater it would NEVER be this company. Their competitors must find Poulsbo Heatings's boorish behaviors a boon for their businesses! read more

My old oil heater needed repair, she said they were booked up... but was I a "customer"? I told her that I was also looking for a closer oil delivery company as well. She said," Well I'm not the cheapest and our overtime charge to just come look at the problem is $299. so I'm probably out of your league". OK Then... read more

The work by this company is shoddy. For several years,they have serviced the furnace I have in the house I just bought. There was a smell of gas near the furnace and they came out and found a leak and tightened the connection and then left. There was still a smell of gas, they came back, tightened another connection and left. This happened one more time. Thorough work would have checked all connections. Now, as the heating season starts, I note that they "repaired" the door switch last April. The "Repair" consisted of holding it closed with black duct tape. This is actually dangerous since it bypasses the safety switch. NEVER call this company. read more

If I could give 1/2 a star or a 0 I would. This business pulled a bait and switch, over charged for the equipment, and has had 3 phone calls from us...three weeks later still not a peep from the owner who was going to, "prioritize our issue and get right back to us." Background: We were having issues with our NEST and it's obviously cold outside so its needed to be replaced. I was in Scotland so my wife contacted Poulsbo Heating Company on a recommendation from our Realtor. We were told that the NEST had issues so he recommended the Honeywell 9000 unit which was WiFi capable. Said it would be just under $300 for the unit and he could squeeze us in with an OT shift and it would be about $200 for the install. Being that it was very late the labor charge is obviously acceptable. I just flew home from Scotland and we came back home. The company sent someone out as promised to install the new unit. Great so far. Now after the 1 hour installation takes place at 7pm at night, again awesome to squeeze us in, the employee leaves. Yes we signed off the work request as the pricing was spot on with what was quoted. Now the next morning I go to set up the WiFi on the unit and notice that its actually the 8000, which retails for about $150. Of course the 9000 is actually only about $200, not $300 like we were even quoted (who makes profit on equipment these days?) I called the company and said there must be a mistake with what was installed. No call back. My wife has actually spoken with the receptionist once and left a message another time; yet no one has called us back over three weeks now. Really poor business practice and we feel that we were taken advantage of because we needed help. Spread the word to not use this service provide and if you do be very careful and research the cost of the equipment before they are allowed to touch anything at your house. read more

I live in SE Alaska and took a chance on dealing with someone so far away, but I couldn't find what I wanted from local dealers. I saw him listed as a Toyostove dealer and called. He had what I was looking for in a used stove that he reconditioned. I went ahead and had him ship it to me on the barge. He delivered it on time and before I got it I was impressed with the obvious care in packaging. I was further impressed with the way he had blocked off the fuel inlet and that the thermostat wire and power cord were zip tied like a new stove. The stove was clean and obviously serviced with pride. His price was more than fair and the service speedy even though he had to take it to the barge line. I will never use anyone else for heating service even though I have to ship it to the states. read more
