These folks are great. I've had a number of separate work projects with them, ranging from replacing my oil-based boiler with a gas-burning boiler, to servicing our hydronic radiators in a few different ways (replacements, fixes, removal). Planning on having them back later in the year to put back some radiators that are being removed in favor of a remodel. In my experience they've been very honest about how our system can best be served (including recommending solutions that are appreciably not the most expensive, based on our own priorities, which I appreciate), and have been flexible when work had to stop mid-way through a project due to unforeseen circumstances. When we found out that our exhaust wasn't exhausting, they were able to get a chimney person out the same day to get an assessment. I can't express how much I appreciate someone who knows when they've hit their technical limit and is willing to say "Let's bring someone else in". Can't express enough how grateful I am to have them around to help out. It's important to me that I have good people that do good work on a house I love dearly, and it's comforting to know my plumbing needs are able to be taken care of by people I trust. I used NW mechanical previously for some fix work and they were great. Recently I had some broken pipes , and asked them to give me a quote. Their trip charge is 200, because they were great before and I was ok with that. But this time, not only it took them 2 visits (including a missed one) and a long time to give me a quote, but they gave me a ridiculous estimate that made me think they don't want this job. This is ridiculous so I have to go to others. All my 3 other quotes ( from other well reviewed companies) were like 600-1000 to replace the broken runs, but they quoted me something like 5000. So 2 star for previous good work, but they disappoint me this time. read more

Northwest Mechanical is a critical part of our home services team. We use them for yearly boiler and mini-split maintenance, and they've also been the installer of two different mini-split systems, a replacement boiler and water heater. A while back, we purchased a house with radiant heat and a boiler. The company the seller had come out was challenging and didn't seem to know boilers well. We switched to someone who specialized in boilers, which brought us to NW Mechanical. After we experienced a few warm summers we went to get quotes on air conditioning. Without ducting, that lead us to a mini-split system. The problem we had was the system we needed to do was complex and we wanted to run most lines indoors. The team worked on this challenging install, including one unit 15+ feet up in the air. Given the expense of this large of a mini-split system, we did the system in two parts. For both installs, Northwest amazed in their ability to solve hard install problems. Roll to this year, the old boiler is starting to look bad in terms of its exhaust. Northwest replaced the boiler with something modern and integrated with the water heater. It went from a boiler on the floor to something so thoughtfully piped it looks like a musical instrument. We continue to keep up with the Northwest team for yearly maintenance. We've enjoyed really enjoyed working with the team at Northwest. read more

We had been struggling to find a company to fix our aging and unique boiler system. We've had no heat on the main floor (which has radiant heat) since September. We had three or four different companies come out and try to fix our issue but no one could seem to pinpoint the exact issue or promise that the repair they were trying out would actually fix the issue. We finally found Aaron with Northwest Mechanical and he was able to finally fix our sputtering, sad and angry boiler and now we have heat downstairs! Brandy was fantastic at keeping in touch throughout the process and scheduling was easy and usually next day or at least the same week. Very unfortunate as they charge $200 to provide a quote. I wanted something done that is likely thousands of dollars. If I knew they would have a competitive quote, I would be happy to pay a call out fee and frankly it isn't a big deal. However, they could decide they don't really want to do the job and quote a crazy number or quote something 2x a competitor and I have just paid for them for nothing- and these days that seems to happen frequently. They could say if they are within 20% of another company's quote then I pay the callout fee but this practice basically gives a customer no choice. No other HVAC company I called in the area needed a fee to quote. Call someone else today so you know what you are dealing with upfront! Sorry! read more

This is the rating for a business that ripped us off from the initial service call and wanted us to have us pay around $20,000 to install a new furnace which we don't need. We wanted to get a checkup on our furnace to ensure that it wasn't leaking gas (we live in an old house with the original furnace still intact.) Since PSE was apparently swamped and the company they referred us to was also swamped, we're by extension referred to NW Mechanical. We paid them around $100 for a service call which ended up being worthless: everything related to the furnace was apparently broken and beyond repair. We live in an old house and this furnace is also old, but we called PSE and they came out and maintained our existing furnace for less than the cost of our service call to NW Mechanical. NW Mechanical fixed nothing and wasted our time. Withholding information and sticking us with about a $20,000 quote is just predatory and we won't stand for it. This ended up just causing a ton of worry on our part because of the sticker shock of getting a new furnace. Glad we didn't need it, and shame on NW Mechanical for this undue stress. I am not sure what others' experience with this company is, but we did not receive information that helped us in any way with the maintenance of our furnace. We recommend you exercise caution with this company because they may attempt to strongarm you into a ridiculous expense; PSE and other companies are alerted and ashamed of this behavior from NW Mechanical. read more

Great service, found a small leak in my baseboard hydronic heater and needed a yearly boiler service. They had someone out the next day. He was extremely efficient, had the system drained and the pipe fixed in about 30 minutes. Then the service on the boiler was very thorough, cleaned it out, checked all the safety mechanisms, and made a few tune ups to make sure it was running well. At the end of it all, he made a coupe suggestions of things that made need replacing or updating, but he was not trying to sell me on anything, he was very respectful, he just laid it out and said these couple thing should probably get done some time in the future and here is why they matter. He left me a detailed estimate, and said to call if we wanted any of the work done. Will definitely be calling these guys again, fantastic work, very clean and thorough. read more

Cole came out today and fixed a pinhole leak in the supply line to my in-floor radiant heating. I just opened the garage for him, he swapped out the leaking joint while I worked upstairs, showed me what he did, and then he was on his way. The trip charge covered the repair. He couldn't have made the process any easier. The only downside was having to wait a couple weeks for their availability to open up. read more

They mostly specialize in mechanical aspects of residential and commercial and might handle your plumbing needs if you are already an established client or they happen to be working on your property for another issue. They are swamped with clients because they are dependable for the job to be done correctly. So be patient and anticipate a 1-2 week wait for your appointment. Pricing is moderate. I have a boiler system and full house radiant heated floors so i have to be extra careful who can work on my property. If the boiler water is cross contaminated with the drinking water it can be lethal so this is an area I don't try to skimp on pricing and go for quality of work and a company I can trust. We ha a heat exchanger installed on 7/10/17 it worked fro 2 years. Then only cold air came out of our heaters. Then on 6/11/18 and 6/22/21 we had the same maintenance technician come out. The issue was not resolved and cold air remained to come out of the air vents. 6 months after the maintenance the heat exchanger stopped working completely. Because the schedule was full they couldn't send anyone out for 8 days. Therefore we were without heat for 8 days. They sent a maintenance technician out named Chris who resolved all of our issue that we were having. Not only that he went above and beyond and replaced the batteries in the thermostat. He was very personable and we really enjoyed his company. We recommend Northwest Mechanical but we will always be requesting Chris! read more

Ever see a really complex plumbing wall that is level, straight, clean as can be, and obviously put in by a dedicated professional? Well, that is my hydronic heating system! A work of art, literally. Being in the trades, I know what good work is, and NWM does beautiful work. I regularly invite folks down into my boiler room to show them my artwork! And this is 6 years after installation. Unfortunately my expercience was totally negative. The company advertises as plumming/ furnace/ electrical etc, but in fact they are not doing any electrical. My emergency call was recorded wrong- the guy came to a wrong address. Once he finally arrived he told me he can't do anything with my furnace since the problem is electrical. The office chanrged me $393.75 simply for advising that the job cannot be done. Luckily I contacted a totally different company and they found the problem in the furnace controller and motor which needed a replacement. I don't advise any business with this company. read more

Had a gas boiler replaced by NW Mechanical. I secured 4 bids from respectable firms around Seattle who install and service hot water heating system and had heard that NW Mechanical was good but expensive but after evaluation all the bids I did not find them out of range of any of the firms. We were quite impressed with Mar, the estimator who did the original system review and pricing with alternatives. Once we decided on a system and to go with them, the scheduling and installation went as planned. their work was timely, clean, and the result was a very efficient system which replaced a 25 year old gas boiler system. During the process between the first meeting we had with Mark to the point of installation and follow up service, wehave dealt with a number of Technicians and schedualing and support staff and I am confident when i say that we have and you will be if you use them dealt with quality professional, experienced individuals. From Kyle to Steve to Daniel to Brandy and Jennifer, i have had nothing but responsible and valuable interactions. And i am not so easy to deal with at times. When does the air conditioner need work? One of the hottest days of the year - of course! We decided to pay for an emergency call and the technician, Aaron came out in 5 hours. He diagnosed it quickly, discussed fixes, installed a trap, tested it and accepted the check. You might find cheaper service somewhere but you may get what you pay for. This company needs more stars than 5. I am so impressed. I'm the HOA president of a mid-rise condo, and when our domestic hot water boiler started leaking we called these folks for help. They determined that a new boiler was urgently needed (ours was leaking and was in an emergent situation for replacement), and prepared a quote on the spot with their expert knowledge. Aaron, the primary technician I worked with throughout, explained to me the reason he recommended the brand he did, along with all implications related to the install. He then moved heaven and earth to arrange the install immediately, which directly impacted his personal vacation plans and those of one of his colleagues that helped with the install. These guys went over and above in every way. I highly recommend. I've used NW Mechanical for almost 10 years now on a quite complicated, and poorly installed, radiant heating system in my house. They also do maintenance and support work on a rental we own. Recently they helped me re-route radiator piping, install new radiators, and re-balance the ferrous and non-ferrous halves of my boiler system. They're technical, fast, competent, and they show up when they say they're going to. Their bills aren't a surprise (meaning, they charge you what they say they're going to).
