I had a very disappointing experience and won't be returning. My appointment was effectively canceled after I had already arrived. I received a message from Ammy at 3:55 asking if I wanted to come the following day, but when I got there she told me she was fully booked. The next day, she acted as if she had no idea I had come the day before and offered no apology for wasting my time. When I politely asked if there could be any adjustment to make up for the inconvenience, Ammy became extremely unprofessional. Instead of handling the situation calmly, she started yelling in front of other customers, rolling her eyes, even going to the back room to throw her phone on the table after pressing play on the music. It was embarrassing and completely disrespectful. The salon also did not meet my expectations. It is advertised as a luxury salon, but the space felt worn, several areas looked dirty, and the nail polish color selection was surprisingly limited. Customer service is just as important as the quality of the work. Mistakes happen, but treating customers with respect and taking responsibility goes a long way. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and I cannot recommend this salon. ((REPLY TO OWNER RESPONSE)) Thank you for proving my point. Not once in your lengthy response did you apologize for the inconvenience of having me drive out for an appointment that didn't happen. Instead, you chose to attack my character, question my intentions, and threaten legal action over a customer's honest experience. Luxury service isn't just about the decor (which your cluttered salon doesn't have) it's about how customers are treated when something goes wrong. I gave your salon a second chance after the scheduling issue, and unfortunately the customer service was even more disappointing. Beware. TLDR; I spent $100 to lose my big toenail. I went to Powder Beauty on Feb 1st for a no-polish pedicure. I had an existing gel polish on my feet. The nail technician used a rotary burr (a machine sanding tool) to remove my gel polish, vs removing it with acetone. After the pedicure I noticed 2 of my toe nails were damaged, one had yellowed since the beginning of the pedicure and another had bruising. As time progressed the damage got worse with the nail thickening and crumbling. Yesterday, a podiatrist had to remove half of my toenail. He said the technician damaged my nail plate and cuticle and moisture entered my nail, which is why it yellowed immediately after the pedicure. Like cardboard or wood that gets wet, the layers continue to separate until it completely separates from the nail bed. He said he sees this from improper pedicures all the time. At least it wasn't fungus which I was very scared they might have given me, but he confirmed it is just the plate damage. It will take almost 1 year to have a normal nail again. Photos are my toenails in the shop, immediately after the pedicure with visible damage. 1 month later. Aftermath of damage once podiatrist had to cut away the damage. read more

Beware of all the positive reviews: there is a sign on wall advertising leaving a 5 star review to get points for discounts which is deceptive practice (is that even legal under FTC rules?). I got a GelX on my short nails, just as I had in other top salons, only for 3 nails to fall off in about 2 weeks. Even on the day of manicure the thumb finger was left messy, but I only saw it in the car. I had an excellent experience at Powder Beauty last week after I got a dip manicure and gel pedicure. They have a great selection of gel colors, which can also be added to dip. IF YOU USE CLASS PASS!!!!! PLZ READ!!!! I made an appointment through class pass for a pedi and eyebrows wax. Before booking any kind of spa appointment I look at any kind of social media reviews. They had good reviews so I decided to book an appointment at Powder Beauty through class pass. I book the appointment at 10:30am. It took me about 40 minutes to get there. Finding the building was a bit hard. I called at 10:10am telling them I was here and that I needed help finding the exact spot. When I called they told me to wait outside because they couldn't see me until 11am. They said that the class pass only gives them the customer's email, not their phone number. They told me that they sent me an email about my appointment being moved. When I checked through my emails I saw they sent the email to me at 10am. They did not email me at least an hour or two before my appointment. When I went to my appointment my brows wax went well. The Pedi was good as well. I can see why they have good reviews the Pedi was calming. The only thing I am disappointed with is with the customer service. When I got to finally check in for my appointment. This other girl was checking in for her appointment that she made through class pass. The lady told her that they were fully booked today that they emailed her to reschedule her appointment for the following day. She was upset. They didnt send her an email at least with time! The lady only told the customer to just call ClassPass. I went ahead and told her that I also got my appointment changed. She said that she couldn't do anything about it because she had two different bookings. She said that class pass are hard because they only get the customer's email. Average experience, INSANE prices... I booked on classpass so I didn't expect to pay a ton on top. I booked the anti-aging mani and pedi because I've never heard it before and wanted to give it a try to see what's different but it felt like a pretty basic mani and pedi. I always get a gel French tip toes because it lasts so long so when they charged $15 extra for gel I thought ok that's fine. They didn't tell me until the end that French tip is $20 extra... I've never paid more than $10 extra for French tip but ok. So I choose a nail polish for my manicure and they're like oh this is a fast drying polish brand that lasts longer so that's $10 extra... okay sure $10 doesn't sound insane? But after I'm thinking ok I should've just got gel at that point... so at this point we're talking $45 EXTRA! When I asked how much the service is originally they said the anti-aging mani and pedi are $55 and $65... $120+$45+ $30 tip because the girl was sweet and that took 2 hours of her life. But walking out I was like holy shit $195 total for a gel French tip pedicure and a basic manicure... maybe I am tripping but I feel like that's INSANE. Found this place on class pass and figured I'd give it a try since I had unused credits. I booked my appointment on class pass app and then showed up for my appointment roughly 15 minutes early as their page suggested . When I arrived I was told they could not see me because they were busy and that they had emailed me to let me know. Super annoyed because I had driven an hour in traffic to get there and who checks their email like that? She told me class pass doesn't connect to their booking site which I understood but the customer service on this situation was definitely lacking. She offered an appointment the following day and I reluctantly agreed to reschedule but after reading more reviews seems like this is a regular thing if you use class pass. They charge for removal of old Russian which I thought was strange because my usual Russian manicure tech does not charge extra. So I opted to remove my old set to avoid the up charge before my appointment. They also charged $20 for chrome on both hands which my usual tech only charges $10 for both hands. One nail fix was also $10 per nail here! My usual is $5 per nail. Salon is cute inside but the work did not reflect the insane price tag I would have had to pay had I not used class pass and chosen to remove my old set myself. $105 for the manicure + $30 removal + $10 fix + $ 20 chrome= $165 for a super mediocre manicure. Agreed to pay for the extra services because why not the manicures not full price I only ended up paying $40 for extra services and tip after using class pass but I was left with gel all over my skin and cuticles as well as under my nails.They visually were cute at first but it's the day after my appointment and the gel is already chipped less than 24hrs later !! If you're looking for a super meticulous Russian manicure nail tech and you're a bit particular like me any of the girls at Majolie La in Studio City or Westwood are freakin amazing! You will have the prettiest, cleanest nails you've ever had in your life. They are also cheaper and their attention to detail is insane my last set lasted 6 weeks! Extremely unprofessional. I booked a manicure using Classpass. There is a $55 cancellation fee if you cancel less than 12 hours before the service. Around 5pm I get an email asking me to reschedule to later in the day. The email did not indicate that the time was not available. Just asking me if I was available at a later time. At 8 PM when I saw the email I texted the number that they requested that I text indicating that I was not available at noon I did not hear back until nearly 11 PM meaning that I would miss the cancellation window. The owner (?) asked me to cancel anyway ignoring the fact that I would be charged money for a service that I wouldn't even receive. Not only did she text me late at night, she had the audacity to say that I was not being "nice." If I had not since her 10:48pm message, I would've arrived for my 9:30 AM appointment since that slot was made available. If they don't have available times, they should not make it an option to book those appointments and they definitely should not send rude and unprofessional messages to would be customers. You can tell that she has a lot of experience; she pays close attention to detail and she is very precise with the application so that the polish doesn't get smeared. Really amazing nail bar right in the heart of mid-Wilshire on La Brea, just north of 6th Street. I'm always on the hunt for nail salons and really needed some work done to even out some acrylic gel nails get re-done. I found Powder in a yelp search and just fell in love with its mission and aesthetic of the shop. Even more so, the website is beautiful and clients can book online which is one of my favorite things to do! Parking is purely on the street so on my first visit, I got a spot out front - yay! Joy was great checking me in and my treatment lasted two hours with Sunny who is hilarious and told me stories of her previous work on celebs! I then got a purple, sparkly dip powder which was so pretty and lasted awhile! While relaxing in the cushy, blue seats, I was also offered a drink of teas, champagne or sparking water which adds a great luxury element. Having such a great experience, I've been back since taking advantage of their "Trio" special which included a mani, pedi and facial. As expected, the dip powder mani was great and the pedi was really nice dipping my feet into the large, Copper bowls. Came in for a gel pedicure that I booked through ClassPass. The experience was great! My appointment was at 11 am and they were ready as soon as I arrived. Wide selection of gel polish. My nail tech was so attentive and did a great job on my nails. The front desk staff offered me still or sparkling water which was a great touch and everyone at the salon was very kind. I don't think they accept walk ins which is nice because it didn't get too overcrowded. The spa itself is small but so cute and well decorated and I appreciated that there's free parking in the lot nearby. They don't have a bathroom in the salon but there's a communal one for the row of shops within a few feet that's very well maintained. This is a beautiful nail salon with amazing services and very skilled technicians. The Herbal Awakening pedicure is one of the best services in the city. I appreciate how kind and skilled they are and their attention to detail is fantastic. It's a small salon that only books appointments ahead of time. They are never rushed and are always very client oriented. Patricia, Amy, and Kelly are all fantastic. I'm sure everyone there is great to book with because of their attention to detail, but these are the technicians I've had the pleasure of seeing there and all three are amazing. Also, as a plus-size client sometimes salons are not accommodating and do not have seating that will fit comfortably. Amy gave me one of the best manicures I've ever had before a hand modeling shoot! I'm picky and have trust issues from previous manicure injuries, but she's so meticulous about shaping your nails and gentle with your cuticles. She's also kind, patient, and easy to talk to!
