I barely have brow to work with but strolled in here on a whim a couple of weeks ago after walking by and taking a quick glance at the Yelp reviews, hoping to maybe get rid of some baby hairs around my sparse, uneven brows. Suna was the only one manning the spot around 6pm when I popped in (their last appointment is 6:45pm). They're no-nonsense there - don't expect warm greetings and smiles, but I followed cues, filled my name on the wait list with what I service I was seeking, and sat down next to a woman who was next after the one currently in the chair. At first I'll admit I was a little tense by the setup- and how customers are rotated in and out of that chair without much fuss or 'reset' between appointments. But then came my turn and let's just say I was stunned. How Suna was able to take what little I have and polish them off in 10min, where I looked in the mirror and gasped at the different I didn't expect...just wow. I think they charge a bit extra for using a credit card but my lip/brow came out to just over $20 and I was ecstatic. [Parking]: Street metered parking only & not exactly a super easy neighborhood to find an available spot. I found a street metered parking spot near E 9th St / S Los Angeles St and the rate was $4 per hour. [Service]: $13 for eyebrow threading. For longer services, customers will need to call for an appointment at least 30 minutes ahead of time. [Process]: I came here at 3 PM on Saturday and I was the only customer. The whole eyebrow threading process took less than 10 minutes. The whole process was super straightforward. I first walked in and one of the employees asked, 'Cleaning up eyebrows?' to which I answered with a yes. The employee asked me to relax and guided me in positioning my hand in order to make the entire threading a bit easier. Finally the employee asked whether to apply aloe vera gel and I simply answered with a yes again. Overall I liked the end result and will certainly recommend this guy-friendly eyebrow threading shop. I feel like prices should be displayed because sometimes they charge me different prices for the same service so I feel that's a little dishonest but again when I get asked if I am paying in cash the price was cheaper I feel back then. Like for example if I pay with cash she can say 45$ but if I say card which will show in the system she has to charge me accordingly because it's recorded. So when I pay with cash I feel like they charge me 5$ for me being rude or demanding a higher quality of service. This has been a long time coming as I've been dedicated to my girl Sunno (I hope I'm spelling this right) for 3+ years. This amazing woman has saved my eyebrows from the brink of death on multiple occasions. Whether that was super thin chopped brows or the hairiest brows you have ever seen and she has fixed them for me every single time. It's pure talent this woman carries and I will only ever trust her with my brows ! Sabina is my go-to at this location -- and she's great, so this review is not about her services, but about the business and its practices in general. Today, after my service, I used Apple Pay as I always do. I noticed that when I was prompted to leave a tip, I didn't have the option to select a custom amount, and the lowest option was 25% of the total. When I asked Sabina if I could leave a custom tip, she said that was no longer available. A 25% minimum tip is not customary or the standard for any service industry. This is a SCAM! She does a really meticulous job at shaping, never makes anything too thin, and plans out each hair to support my brow growth. I contacted the owner on 11/25 to resolve an issue and received no response. I have been to the DTLA and Vermont St locations several times over the last year. I visited the DTLA location and requested threading, lamination, and tint. When I was handed the mirror, I had to ask if she was done. Because it couldn't possibly be the finished product. The tint was overdrawn (my eyebrows were doubled) and there was hard chunks of something throughout each eyebrow. I was told it was glue and she couldn't take it off. In addition the lamination was not satisfactory. My eyebrows were squiggly. I told the woman who was servicing me how I felt and that I looked crazy and I could not leave looking like this. She attempted to fix it, by scraping my eyebrows repeatedly, and in the process removed essentially all of the tint. She also just couldn't make it look any better. That's when another woman came over to fix it. She did what she could, and I left in my opinion looking nearly the same - like I got a threading service only. I was charged $133 and still tipped $5 for the threading and the time she spent, even though I felt like it wasn't my fault it took as long as it did. The next morning I noticed I had scrapes from when they cut during the lamination. I now have several scabs on my face. These photos was taken less than 48 hours after service. I did not wash my face for 24 hours and did not touch my eyebrows for 48 hours. Total waste of money. I emailed asking for a credit and nobody responded - so won't be returning here. This was only noticed by me once I got home and looked at the skin in natural light. I got my eye brows done here a few days ago for like the millionth time and they still continue to impress me! They always do an amazing job. I've been coming here since 2016. I've tried other places when it was not convenient for me to make the trip to Downtown LA to Roopa's and regret it every time. Other places don't do my eyebrows like they do it here (I've only been to the DTLA location). Parking is hard to find but usually find meter parking a few blocks away. It is worth the hassle in my opinion. Also, I would not recommend to park in front of the store on the fire line...i've seen parking enforcement give tickets. Park at the meters.
