Our family recently gathered for a reunion in Park City and had dinner at Powder. It was lovely! Nestled inside of the Waldorf Astoria, you will enjoy a beautiful ambiance and great view. We made a reservation and were able to be seated immediately. We had several hors-d'oerves among us and would highly recommend the West Coast oysters, the creamy roasted cauliflower veloute and the Wagyu beef Bavette Tataki. Wow were these so sublime! We also enjoyed foie gras, organic chicken, scallops and filet of salmon. Beautiful presentation, fabulous taste. We followed the main course with shared desserts. The cheesecake was nice but was not anything special. The three creme brûlée dessert was a hit! Lovely place, great meal, attentive waitstaff. We would absolutely go back. read more

We have been frequent powder customers, but the last two visits have been frankly bad. Went for lunch and ordered a Reuben. Easy, right? Nope. The sandwich I received was gristle and fat on toast. For 22 dollars. Assuming that was a one off, I went for dinner 2 days later. Service was atrocious. It took 30 minutes to get drinks, and the orders were completely wrong when they arrived. Powder wants to be a 5 star restaurant, but the food and service is literally bottom barrel at top drawer prices. read more

This place screams pretentious as soon as you walk into the hotel lobby. Which we should have known, considering its reputation. The staff generally didn't seem to care about you, even though there were only a handful of parties seated when we went. We're not new to high-end restaurants, I'm not even bothered by their menu prices. Take a look at the photos and you know that everything is presented beautifully as well. However, the food was just okay. Some parts wonderful, some parts disappointing. For example, the lobster & crab salad sandwich was almost like a regular lobster roll, except the filling is kind of pasty and reminds me of baby food (if your baby ate expensive seafood). The gravlax was very salty, I drank a gulp of water with every bite. But nothing was terrible; the burger was a fine burger and the burrata was delicious even though some of the tomatoes were under-ripe. If I stayed at the Astoria, I might try this place again. Have been staying at the hotel for a week. We have eaten at Powder 3 times-2x breakfast, 1x dinner. Our initial breakfast was pleasant enough, but for what we ordered: banana pancakes, bagel sandwich, regular bagel and kids pancakes, I thought it was crazy over priced. Dinner was sub par. Food was again insanely over priced and the food was very bland. I'm leaving the worst for last. Our breakfast this morning was nothing short of atrocious. The hostess was pleasant but seemed annoyed that a family of 5 would want breakfast at 7:45 am. We were sat at a high top next to bar and promptly forgotten. Once I flagged a waiter, we ordered on the spot. Coffee cups and cream came out, but not coffee. We waited for awhile. Then half the food came out, but no utensils and no one asked. Our waiter was nowhere to be seen so I flagged another waiter who looked absolutely annoyed that I would ask for silverware. Some time later as our food got cold the silver wear was brought and then I had to ask for coffee again. We were then ignored the rest of the meal until the waiter brings me the check with 20% gratuity included and says "please forgive my tardiness". This is not a way to treat customers of the hotel especially when everything in it costs an arm and a leg. Very disappointed in my experience. read more

I Yelp this place every time I come here for a business lunch. The food is reliably poor and overpriced. The wines by the glass are poorly selected, poured short, and of course, overpriced. The last time I was there for lunch I played it safe and ordered a cheeseburger. That is pretty hard to screw up, right? Well, the bun was stale and the fries were leftover from yesterday. The tomato slice was see-thru, and there was no lettuce. The burger was overcooked and tasteless, and the "service" was AWOL. Run, don't walk, to any nearby food truck. read more

Visited Powder for dinner around 7:15pm on a Thursday. We were seated right away even though we were early to our 8pm reservation. The place was full by 8pm so I would recommend having a reservation if you are planning to dine here. Personally thought the food was great but the portion was a bit toward the smaller side. We started with the roasted beet salad and the swordfish prosciutto and tuna. Both were great but though the tuna was the better choice mainly due to the swordfish prosciutto. For the main dishes we went with the duck and the buffalo. For me the buffalo was the better choice even though the duck did not disappoint. Finally given we were still a bit hungry we went with two desserts, the beignets and the 7 cake layer. The beignets were just ok. The 7 cake layer was amazing and really loved the crunchiness in one of the layers due to hazelnut. Overall a great place to dine in if you want somewhere away from Main Street. Holy fish Batman, the place stinks like a fish tank. I'm surprised the kitchen staff didn't notice how bad the fish they were cooking smelled. I hope nobody gets sick. Tonight we ordered from the bar, several amazing cocktails, I wish Yelp would let you rate different components of a restaurant cause this bar deserves 5 stars. The service and drinks from Katlynn were amazing. Someone from Waldorf should care enough to read and respond as my last review was completely ignored. They have a lack of kitchen safety and sanitation management with their product, which usually means the chef is not present in the kitchen. Go for the bar, let the bartenders suggest something safe from the kitchen. read more

First let me say that anyone who rates this restaurant lower than 4 stars is not grasping the full environment that Powder offers. We arrived to the Waldorf on a weds late morning and departed on Sunday having eaten at powder 4 times for breakfast, 1 lunch and 1 amazing thanksgiving dinner. Each meal whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner was fantastic. On top of all that the service is amazing, the manager knew our names the second day, our servers JD and April were so personable and full of energy it made our dining experience that much more enjoyable. Let's talk about lunch first since that's what we had on Wednesday- I highly recommend the snake river farms burger, followed with the truffle fries and ahi tuna tacos. So delicious! On thanksgiving we had a 3 course pre fixed meal that was probably the best Turkey dinner I have ever had. It was so nice to not have to cook during a holiday. The venison starter, Turkey dinner and then the pumpkin mousse were out of this world! Finally for all of our breakfasts anything on the menu is worth trying my favorite was the protein shake, carrot juice and the Astoria which is eggs, bacon and breakfast potatoes! Star Criteria: Quality, Service, Price, Ambience, Je Ne Sais Quoi Hardest restaurant I've ever rated!! Wish I could give more stars but... We dined here on our anniversary (lucky number 4 aka the fruit and flower anniversary). The menu was outstanding and presentation was beautiful. We ordered two cocktails that were decadent and wondrously presented. This was just the beginning! The appetizers were flavorsome and artistically presented. Audacious tomato and burrata came with salmon that was smoked perfectly and presented pristinely. As entrees, we had the scallops and pork belly, and a filet mignon that should've been framed. Dessert? Ice cream and a delicate pastries that would make you weep. The culinary experience here is simply brilliant. But, everything else, not so much... We were seated at an awkwardly large table for two people in an otherwise empty seating area. The most occupied area was upfront where we entered - next to a bar with hotel guests in flip flops and tees. I am NOT against this mood at a hotel with such a sweet pool area. But how about a separate bar or even a different entrance? We were dressed more formally, as were other diners. This set up a very awkward and inconsistent experience for us at the outset. The bill lined up with expectations ($$$$ expensive but worth it for quality on a celebratory occasion). Ambience was fine, but we couldn't get a clear read on it. This was due to the bar upfront. It needs to be a separate venue. I had to give a full je ne sais quoi star because the menu and presentation was so wonderful! This is the hardest restaurant I've ever rated. A beautiful menu and dining experience with an overwhelmingly awkward layout and ambience inconsistent with the Waldorf Astoria name. The service wasn't so great they kept ignoring us the whole night and forgot we had the taster's menu and didn't bring our included dessert until we asked for it. The butternut squash soup with goat cheese was so inviting I almost licked my plate clean. The braised beef rib was fall off the bone awesome. The fried chicken had a lot going for it with the different sauces and corn that popped in your mouth. It was very tasty. Their dessert was superb and worth the long wait. First off, the service at Powder and the Waldorf Astoria is beyond excellent. They had prepared us breakfast for our group events as well as a slider sampler dinner and we also pow wowed there for drinks. The bar area looks modern with clean lines. There are four taps for draft beers carrying mostly local brews, like Uinta and Squatters. Other beers are offered poured from the bottle. The bar keep makes mean old fashioned with local High West Whiskey. National big name liquors are all available, but if you're visiting from out of state, don't be afraid to give High West a try. There is a TV in the bar area of the restaurant. They also have private dining rooms in the back if you have a special occasion or business dinner where you need to seal the deal. For breakfast they catered us with buttery croissants and fruit pastries, fresh fruits, eggs, sausage, and applewood smoked bacon. Did Powder get the pick of the best bacon? We must have been lucky because the bacon had almost zero fat. For the group happy hour dinner, we had ahi poke sliders, beef sliders, chicken, and also lamb. My favorite was the lamb slider. Tons of crispy onion rings and veggie chips on the side. Our server didn't stop walking for 2 hours, bringing us drink after drink after drink and was a pleasure to deal with. I did not have the standard menu or the prix fixe menu so I can't comment on those creative dishes. Items looked fairly priced for a fine dining establishment. If you eat on the patio you get to over look the mountains in the back along with the Waldorf's beautiful pool and courtyard. Really relaxing. If you eat inside, you can still see it all, but of course outside is more fun, weather permitting. What really made the service next level? Late at night I was making drinks in my room for everyone (party in my suite!) and ran out of pineapple juice for our pineapple and vodka drinks. One of our girls went up and asked the bartender if we could buy some pineapple juice. The bartender gave us a whole carton of pineapple juice gratis. The menu however, is now more steakhouse style with extraordinarily high price point, without the quality or selection of a real steakhouse. I miss the creative dishes they used to serve. All the food was solid, but for the price/offerings you can do far better at many other restaurants in town. Only leaving a review because maybe they will bring back their old offerings. Came here for a belated birthday dinner with couple girlfriends. The decor was fitting for Utah I suppose? There were several antlers displayed on wall. We sat at the bar first since we arrived a little early for our dinner reservation. The bartender was fabulous. He was nice and didn't talk too much. Then we sat over by the window for a view of the courtyard where people were enjoying the hot tub and can see the pool/poolside. When we were finally seated (past our reservation time and had to ask the hostess to be seated), the waiter was young and attentive. We started with truffle fries and butcher block, both met our savory needs. I liked the boar meat and tiny pickles. My roast chicken was moist and went well with the kale salad. My friend ordered the pork chop-medium done; however, came out more more well done. It was good nonetheless since the edges were a bit crispy. My other friend had the seafood mac and cheese. It looked more like an appetizer, but enjoyable. It was a good portion of seafood. We finished it off with a lava chocolate cake and raspberry cheese cake. The lava cake was soooooooo good, totally melted in our mouths, soft on the inside and slightly caramelized on the outside. It wwnt nicely with the raspberries, blackberries and vanilla ice cream. We had breakfast here twice while staying at the resort. We got a $15 credit each, for me and my husband, with Hilton Diamond status. The concierge who escorted us to our hotel room recommended the pancakes, and he was so right! They were amazing. The omelette was good, the sausage was really good, everything else was good... but the pancakes were amazing. Light, fluffy, wonderfully filling. They come with real maple syrup (or I wouldn't have ordered them). They took our names at the hostess desk and the waiter greeted us by name - a nice touch. Service was good. We had dinner there on March 27, 2024. We ordered the chicken sandwich while sitting at the bar at the 'Powder' restaurant. It was cold and all fat -- completely inedible. We sent it back with the manager, who never appeared again. Our server then charged us $34.00 for this "meal." I have no words to describe the failure of the entire evening. read more

This fancy little place makes you feel special. The restaurant is located inside the hotel so you toss the keys to the valet driver and go about your way. You walk inside and the staff are all wearing their bright smiles helping us find Powder. The host looked very young, but very charming and remained professional. He seated us at the table with a great view of the hotel and pool area. Shortly, our server came to greet us and offer the drink menu. I ordered the blackberry bramble and I liked it! The girls think it was a little too sweet, but I like that I can taste the Bombay gin. Mmmm. My friend ordered the basil pomegranate martini and it tasted like basil. It was good, but I preferred mines. So the only reason I wanted to dine here was because of their "Dine About" special: Waygu Beef burger and milkshake. That Waygu Beef burger was way guud! I ordered it medium rare, but it cooked medium well. I didn't send it back because the bleu cheese just locked it in for me. It made the burger taste so good I ended up eating my half. It was juicy, the bleu cheese made it creamy, and the pickles veggies just tied the meal together. The veggies reminded me of my short stay in New Orleans when I had their muffuletta! Mmmm! The truffle fries on the side were amazing! It was just the right amount of truffle to please my palette! We also decided to split the lobster roll and I wish we didn't even order it. Lobster was fresh, but the bread was dry and just plain boring. I asked for elated butter on the side to help with the dryness, but it wasn't working for me. I just ate the lobster and my friend ate the bread. Finally dessert comes out. I don't like milkshakes so our server offered us fruit instead and it was really sweet! I don't think there were any sweeteners added and it was just the ripe fruit that were hand picked! My friend also ordered the nutmeg creme brûlée. Presentation is beautiful, but it tastes like I'm chewing on egg nog. Weird right? It's not the typical creme Brûlée in a pot where the caramel is torched. It's slightly torched on top, but the caramel is spread across the plate with chopped pistachios. Not my favorite, but cool little twist on the traditional dessert. I wanted to break the layer with my spoon. I'd love to come back and dine again. Staff are so friendly and even crack jokes with you. Powder is expensive...but you get what you pay for! It started with their Quinoa Sprout and Spelt breads. Soft, yummy, and nearly impossible to stop eating! My party of seven shared the Seafood Tower starter, a fish- and shellfish-lover's dream come true: Tuna Poke, Prawns, Smoked Fish, Crab Claws, and West Coast Oysters. Check out my photos, as the mini Tabasco bottles are as cute as heck. The group was in a sharing mood, so I tried a little of everything. The Lobster Pot Pie has a subtle kick from the curry, and the light, flaky crust tastes made from scratch. The Lobster is AMAZING... as good as the best I've had in Maine. The Crab-Crusted Monchong (a firm, mild-flavored Hawaiian fish) is great with their blood orange hollandaise. A little sweeter and a little less eggy than the run-of-the-mill hollandaise sauce. I've never had this side before: chickpea panisse. It's essentially a crispy, light, tasty French-fry looking (and tasty) side dish . So good, I'll be making panisse at home. And then was my main course: Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The chicken was crispy on the outside (without tasting greasy), the meat succulent and perfectly paired with the rich, subtly sweet sherry jus. Arguably the best meal we've had in park city. The meal was incredible. Started with the foie gras and beet salad which was so flavorful. Highly recommend. The filet mignon was one of the best I've ever had. the peppercorn sauce was incredible and the meat was perfectly prepared. The scallops dish over mushroom risotto was also full of flavor and every bite was better than the next. The service was 10/5. Shelby was our waitress and was on point all night. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was amazing but I have to say that Luke made our meal so enjoyable! He was so nice and went above and beyond to make our date night special! He made food suggestions that were so delicious and we are glad we listened to him. As a former server I know what it's like to care and how to show that you do and Luke definitely made my boyfriend and I feel like our experience there was important to him. Was there for dinner and breakfast last weekend. I had the mushroom Raviolo, it was really not very good. Actually too much and too rich of a flavor. My wife had the Salmon and it was really nice. For dessert we had flourless chocolate cake and it was obviously out of a box, dry and tasteless. We also got the beignets which We're hot and very delicious. And speaking of raw squash, we had three different meals with it: the insanely priced hummus (it's literally blended chickpeas, y'all), a sandwich stuffed with raw squash and an omelet with raw squash! What an embarrassment for the Waldorf Astoria brand. The food is terrible quality and you can't even tell me there is a chef in the kitchen. The cod was incredibly salty and tasted nothing like miso cod. The tuna tartare was so gristly that you could not chew it. The beet Greek salad was pretty and that's the only compliment I can give as it was horrible. I thought the walnut hummus had spoiled. The manager never once came over or we would have told him how disappointing the food was. We also saw a male server be so rude and cruel to the nicest servers assistant. We went here for valentines, and I weirdly didn't take any pictures so I will just apologize now First, we had a reservation for almost a month at Powder. We hadn't been before but wanted to splurge a little. Well they didn't seat us for almost an hour after our reservation was. They didn't seem all that concerned either and just said they were running behind.... Then we finally sat, and no one even came to our table for about 20 mins. We had to finally go up and ask if someone could bring us water or a menu because we were so hungry and thirsty at this point. Now, the food was all so good and so fun. Props to the chef. But honestly we were so upset and probably hangry at this point. Nothing was taken off the check or anything, not that we would have asked. No one seemed to care about any of this happening. Dinner then took forever and again no one came to see if we needed anything else besides just bringing our food out. We had to grab someone walking by several times to get more water and order more wine. The whole meal was around $500 and was one of the worst experiences for that nice of a restaurant. There were only 2 other occupied tables yet it took our server forever to get our food order, deliver our food, etc. Fortunately the bartender was very nice and attentive. One of the worst dinners I had in PC. The restaurant is understaffed... The food comes cold and tasteless... The manager doesn't know how to manage the staff and has poor attitude. when I asked how could this happen in a 5 star restaurant Her reply was we are only three star... well if you are 3 star why are the prices do not reflect that.... oh forgot they were out of certain items on the short reduced menu... our reservations were made well in advance for a large party why they didn't stock up on the food?... Our server was Leslie, she was nice but not helpful, ordered my mimosa with a splash of OJ, kept getting the wrong drink, never checked back on our party of 8 to see if everything was good after our meals arrived. There was maybe 4 other tables dinning here. The Tuna Tartare was really FISHY and flavorless. NO MANGO, as advertised. My fiancé ordered the croquet sandwich, it was DELICIOUS!! I'll start with the positives- our waiter Paul was top notch. He gave great recommendations and service all while being personable and funny, but never overbearing. Louis - the water server and part host was also great. He should probably get a raise or promotion to host (more on that later...) Food wise the beet salad, short ribs, tiramisu and creme brûlée were standouts. The Hostess should absolutely not be working at a Waldorf or any other higher end establishment. First, because we were a party of 6, I could not make a reservation on open table. I called twice over two days, left two messages, finally got a call back and made a reservation for 3/24 at 6:30 p.m. Not that big of a deal. We arrive on 3/24 at 6:30. There is no one at the hostess stand. Louis comes up to help. I provided my last name. After some searching, he says my first name - I say yep, that's it. He explains he is going to set up/ check on our table and leaves. As we are standing there, the hostess comes rushing up, she asks for our name, we say oh it's no problem we've already been helped - Louis is getting our table. Nonetheless She asks for our name, I give her my last name - she looks and looks and says no, there's nothing there. We say hmm that's weird bc Louis just found it. She says, no not possible. Then she asks if I received an email confirmation. I say no, I did not, (was never asked for my email when I made the reservation) but I do have the call logs if you'd like to see those. She then says oh you must have made the reservation for another day. I say today is Wednesday right? Then no, I didn't make the reservation for another day. Louis then comes up. The two of them whisper back and forth and then she finally say oh- they had you down with your last name starting with a "B" not a "Z". No apology. No thank you to Louis. We finally get taken to our table. Convienantly, everyone else had name tags except for the hostess. I'm there for dinner. Not to argue. That could have easily been handled better on so many levels. Instead of arguing with me, she could have simply spoken to Louis when we told her he found our reservation. Instead of accusing me of making the reservation on the wrong date (which I did not do) she could have said, "let me see what I could do." The restaurant was pretty empty BTW. But for the hostess, I would have given Powder 4 stars. I probably should have complained to a manager but again, I'm just trying to have a nice dinner on vacation. read more

I wanted to really like this restaurant, but sadly I cannot. We were with a large group attending an event in the area. Everything started good with drinks in the bar. They knew we were coming and had a set menu for the group. One would think they would have charcuterie or some snacks when hosting 20 plus, but alas no. After an hour plus of drinks and then demanding we be seated they just poured water. No one came to take order so we ordered some appetizers so that we didn't get sauced. They finally came and took orders for dinner and bottles of vino. Twenty plus minutes later our wine appears - I taste the red, and then he puts the cork back in it firmly and sets on table - the white gets tasted and put into a cooler in the far end of room - it great - way better places for the cost. read more

My mother and I rarely go to buffets, but we wanted to check out the Waldorf and booked a 1 pm reservation at Powder. We got there around 12:30 (we took the free bus system) and were allowed to be seated immediately. Thank goodness we were seated immediately because all the breakfast food (the only real tasty part of the meal) was picked up at 1 pm, even though the menu said that brunch was from 10 am - 6 pm. No where on the menu did it say that the breakfast portion would be picked up at 1 pm. I was a little disappointed the salads were not mixed up in a bowl, you just select the greens you wanted then dumped whichever salad dressing you wanted to go with your greens. Mom enjoyed the oysters (I passed because I am not that into Seafood) and the shrimp ok. Both soups looked like they were made in a Vitamix. The Pork Loin and Turkey were quite dry but the Roast was good but cold. I did enjoy the cookies and snacked on quite a few. The service was not that great. I was helped by Alex all day and he was very nice - my only complaint is that our silverware wasn't really refreshed until dessert. Then something weird happened. A new waiter Mike appeared and Alex told us Mike was going to take care of us (ok that's fine Alex is going on break...) but the thing is for the next 30 minutes, Alex never left. He just waited on other tables. I even went to the bathroom and half a half eaten cookie on my plate and Mike took it without asking my mom if i was done with it. Which then made me HAVE to go pick up another cookie. Then once we started dessert we felt like we were being pushed out by our new waiter Mike. At $69 per head and $11 per cocktail I thought that I could stay as long as I was still eating and there were still tables open. Superlative experience. Patrick, John and Kenny took excellent care of us during our week-long stay. Quality of cuisine was terrific, especially the 'mountain breakfast' consisting of eggs, starch, meat and grains. Oatmeal was another unexpected standout with mixed berries and pistachios.
