Came here a couple of times during a recent trip. I am not a breakfast food person, so I usually skip straight to lunch. I did this on both visits, but saw breakfast food when the other people I was with ordered. I can say that this place does not skimp. The plates of food were HUGE. Go in hungry, come out ready for a nap. Waitresses were all super friendly, attentive and accommodating. All of our orders came out perfectly and within a reasonable amount of time, and no drink went un-filled. Seriously, stop here for a great meal. read more

I am currently sitting in here. The service is not the best, not welcoming. Seems every time we come they are out of cinnamon rolls, so that being said that if you are coming in and looking forward to one, may as well set your sights on something else. Asked for a straw and have been ignored. Now what I mean by every time we come, it's far and few between when we do, years in between my husbands second. Truly disappointing as usual. Last time we will be here. The cook seems to be the only hard worker that listens in here. The waitresses are so solemn and disappointed looking. What a sad sad place to be sitting in. read more

This place is a great place to go for breakfast! It's decor is outdate and a little shabby, having said that, it's clean, the servers are very friendly and courteous! The coffee is great, the meals are huge! My breakfast fed me two more meals after my initial serving. They also have a small bakery counter that made me drool. I was way too full to even consider taking something home, but is my goal the next time I go in! If you don't like left overs, I recommend sharing a meal. The pricing is very reasonable too. The Powderhorn is a great little hometown cafe with a comfortable feel, tasty meals, and a great price. Breakfast or lunch won't disappoint! This isn't a fancy place, but that's the appeal. Staff is friendly and quick. The pie is homemade and wonderful! The crust is from heaven. My only gripe? Time to fix the leaky roof- not a problem, except for one drippy area. read more

Food is average. Typical greasy diner breakfast options. Pancakes are rubbery. We waited aver 50 min to get our food after ordering. Waitress was unapologetic about it. There are better options in grants pass. read more

Ordered or breakfast togo while staying at a hotel. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. I got my order quickly and they sent me with everything I could possibly need knowing I was in a hotel. My husband said it was the best Chicken fried steak he had ever had (and since that is all he eats when we go out he would know). Well went there on a Saturday, and that was a big mistake. Should have turned around and left. We were sitted and waited for 20minutes before a waitress came to our table even after I got the attention of other waitresses. Then it took about 45 minutes to get our food and the waitress gave us excuses for taking slow long. And the food was not worth the wait. Everything was top notch: excellent and friendly service, clean diner atmosphere, busy but no wait and did not feel rushed, and the food was excellent. Had an omelette with hash browns and coffee. BEST!! My boyfriend and I each had sunny side up eggs an order of hash browns bacon and toast. It was so speedy, so yummy and fresh! They have the best pies I've ever tried!! Was in GP this morning with the family and decided on Powderhorn for breakfast. The decor is beautiful. Starting with our drink order, (3 cokes and 1 lemonade)all 4 tasted like they were extremely watered down. I can understand having a problem with coke and needing to change the syrup but the lemonade as well? When brought to the attention of the waitress she didnt ask if we wanted anything else or offer to replace it. I ended up ordering a hot cocoa in place of the coke. Eventually she did come back and let us know she changed the coke and did offer to get new ones but it took all 4 of us asking for something different to drink for that to happen. We ordered the biscuits and gravy, 3 meat omelette, chicken fried steak and the caveman burger. The food looked amazing but all 4 dishes were extremely bland. How do you make a burger that has no flavor? Even the bacon on our dishes seemed to be lacking. They are far overpriced for food to taste like this. We most definitely will not be back. The only reason this is a two star rating instead of a 1 is the waitress redeeming the drinks. At the end of our meal, which was rather quick as none of us barely ate, the bathroom floor was sticky and it stunk like backed up sewage. read more

I live in Grants Pass and have had breakfasts and lunches at Powderhorn many times. Never have I been disappointed, even when I wanted to purchase a particular whole pie for a party and they only had two slices left. Ended up with a variety of end-of-the day pie leftovers all put together into one, and the last slice of a lemon meringue thrown in as a bonus. A word of warning, though. Their pancakes are as big as the plates. Do not pour the syrup on top of them or it will overflow and end up all over the counter. The secret is to cut a hole in the middle, pull out the plug, pour in the syrup, and dip as you eat. Keeps things nice & neat. read more

If you really like a good "50's breakfast", this is the target! Great food at an economical price for the whole family. Pancakes that are lite and fluffy and the size of hubcaps. Fast service with lot's of smiles awaits you. AND, don't for get to top off breakfast with a piece of their famous pie! Probably the worst breakfast I have ever had. I am speaking only for their breakfast sandwiches and their eggs and hash browns, because this is what I have tried. The waitress said that they don't use egg beaters, but I have a very hard time believing that. Both the sandwich and the eggs and hash browns meals were beyond poor in quality and the service was very slow. I dont know where to begin.l'm still in shock from my experience in the powderhorn this morning. My wife and I eat at the powderhorn often and always enjoy it... until today. We found an unbussed booth to sit in and waited for someone to come along and clean it. Five minutes later our surly server came along and cleaned the table, brushing the crumbs onto our laps and bruskly taking our drink orders. She returned with our drinks and our menus, left and came back without giving us any time to look at our menus. After being pressured to order (like in the drive thru at the fast food) the food was as slipshod as the service. My overcooked over mediums came out without toast as did my wife's chicken fried steak and eggs. She asked for crispy hash browms and they came out burnt whereas mine were undercooked. When we called our server over to complain about my wife's burnt hashbrowns, she took the entire plate away, and then she returned minutes later and asked if my wife wanted her food to go. All she wanted was a recook on the potatoes! Meanwhile I still haven't received any toast and most of my food is gone. So much time elapsed and the food never did get straightened so that when we left my wife had barely eaten and we had to go somewhere else so my wife could properly eat. They did take five dollars off the bill and gave us a slice of pie (it was horrible!) but that doesn't make up for sub-par food and hostile service. I grudgingly give them one star only because my breakfast was edible. Sorry powderhorn but it's going to be a while before we cross your dated doors again read more

Long haired, brunette, babe waitress, referred to hereafter as "Hottie with the Body". Hottie with the Body gave us menus and informed us that another waitress would be by to take our order. You can imagine my disappointment when told this. Lucky for me the other one sucks at her job and Hottie took over. This is definitely a locals place, and the locals were looking at me and Hammy. Maybe it was because we were coming off our wicked P-town bender or maybe it was because Hammy was still in his wizard outfit from the righteous battle in the park the day before. We have been here before, but the quality of food has gone down. The coffee tasted burnt or old. The hash browns were burnt on the outside and under cooked on the inside. The oil to cook the hash browns was either old or not a quality oil. The waitress was too busy counting her tips to offer any refills for our drinks or to inquire if everything was ok with our meal. When we stopped in this community for lunch, we found parking was limited, price were just right for lunch and food preparation was very well done. The waitresses we very helpful. Needed to find a place to take my parents. Took the advice of the reviews and was not disappointed. Superb and attentive service. The coffee never got too low. Comfortable seating. Plenty of locals coming in which is a sign we were on the right track. Large portions. I had cakes, eggs and bacon which were fab with plenty of whipped butter available. My folks make order adjustments for their diet, and they just made it work. The pie will be on my list the next time I come, because they looked big, glorious and yummy. Breakfast is good and breakfast service is great. But afternoon was AWFUL!! The server forgot out creamer, never once refilled our empty water even after asking twice, didnt take our order til we stopped them to ask them to take it and were not friendly or apolgetic at all. Brought us cold food, and the food itself was not even enjoyable. I had the tuna melt and it was cold, two slices of cheese, hardly any tuna and a tiny sandwhich period. For 8.75! Unreal. read more
