Whole Chicken All Dark Meat Three Sides *
Angela L.

SO GOOD. This might be the best Peruvian chicken I've had in the area. I ordered the whole chicken all dark meat with 3 sides for only $37. I ordered this in so I didn't get to experience the store but the food was made and delivered very quickly-- it was still hot by the time it was served! The restaurant I believe is located in the power plant live area so the area to park isn't so much on the street rather a lot or garage parking. Great spot for takeout!

Quarter Dark with salad and roasted Brussels sprouts and carrots

I would give Poyoteca 6 stars if I could. It is a fast, casual roast chicken restaurant that really knocks it out of the park. The roast chicken is super fresh and absolutely delicious. There are loads of sides to choose from. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I got the quarter dark meat meal with salad and roasted Brussels sprouts and carrots, and it was phenomenal. The service is prompt and very friendly. It is hard to believe such high quality food can come from a quick, casual restaurant, but Poyoteca is it. Wow. I can't wait to go back.

summary: had poyoteca for catering and they do a great job packaging everything up tidy. All the food was delicious. Not too many details to add here because I didn't eat at the actual location, but all the food was delicious and carried over via catering well. Everything tasted well balanced and flavorful. All the sauces and sides complemented the chicken well and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The plantains had delicious flavor and cooked perfectly - not that soggy/buttery consistency that you get sometimes. Yuca fries had a nice chew without being dry. Roasted veggies were all well seasoned and dressed well. Overall a great meal! I would totally check out the main venue based on my experience!

We came here after visiting the aquarium. It's only a 5 minute walk so woohoo. I didn't have too much expectations because I feel foods near tourist areas can be a hit or miss. However I was pleasantly surprised. The space was clean and I liked that there was a family bathroom which is rare. I ended up getting the quarter dark meal and chose Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy as my sides. Food came out hot which was nice. I didn't have to rush eat like I normally do because the food was just warm. The portions were decent as well. I ended up taking my food home. For the reheating the chicken and sides maintained their flavor. Only quirk is the chicken got dry which makes sense. I would definitely stop by here again as the price was reasonable for the quality food.

Super tasty menu options and great portion sizes!!! The Lomo empanadas were so juicy and flavorful and the beef a close second. The half chicken and sides are great too. The creamed spinach and potatoes were a surprisingly great side. Will return again and again

Why did it take me so long to come here?! I am so sad that I've driven past here so many times and it's only a 13 min walk from my apt. The Peruvian cuisine here is excellent, reminds me of my trip from a year ago. The veggie platter is such good bang for your buck and allows you to try 4 items in a sizeable quantity. The food is fresh and hot. The veggie empanada was soooooo gooey and yummy on the inside with a nice fried crunch on the outside. The spinach and potatoes were incredible. The mac and cheese and beans were solid. Great yucca fries as well. The 2 sauces- ají amarillo and spicy sauce were sooooooo yummy and I'm so happy you can help yourselves to it instead of having to pay for little cups of it. Great service as well- they bring the food to your table too!! Such sweet ladies who work there. I will be back bc the vibes were incredible!

Had catering from here for a large group and really enjoyed it! Had the quarter dark with their mac n cheese and brussel sprouts. The brussels were some of the best I've ever had--a bit sweet/tart in the best way. Also loved their two sauces (yellow mild, green spicy). Hope to come here in person some time!

A must if you're craving Peruvian chicken. It was my first time at the physical location - I've gotten delivery from here so many times, it's probably embarrassing but there's nothing I love more than peruvian chicken. The location is hard to get to by car - it's by the PowerPlant in inner harbor so parking is tricky. The store itself is huge - and the best part about going in person is their sauce station - when you get delivery they charge you per small container of their amazing aioli and green salsa - but not in person, they have lot of little containers and you can fill as many cups as you want for your salsa, and I'm a saucy girl. I got the half chicken (white and dark meat and their plantains and yucca. It was a dark cold day and there were a lot of people coming in and out, it's a popular spot for sure. The staff is fast and efficient, not the best at answering any questions you have but it's the place you come when you know exactly what you're getting.

Some of the best chicken I've ever had. Super flavorful and filling. 20 dollars for two large pieces of chicken + two sides of your choice. Also you can choose between Dark and white meat which is GREAT. Got delivery from Uber eats and it came really fast, so I can assume their service is fast. Great meal for a weeknight or a cozy night in!

Delicious! I haven't had Peruvian food in a long time, and this exceeded my expectations. The chicken was delicious and the plantains are amazing.

We went to get our lunch here after visiting the National Aquarium, it was a quick 8 minute walk. The restaurant was very clean and welcoming. When we ordered the food came out quickly and it was really hot. The chicken is seasoned incredibly well, and the sides are to die for. The Brussels sprouts were crispy and flavorful. The fried plantains were a bit chewy(in a good way) and sweet. I would 1000% come back if I ever have an opportunity to. The workers were very friendly.

Quarter dark, plantains, yuca

Ordering to-go w.family, I ordered a quarter dark, yuca fries, and plantains & hubby ordered quarter white, fried rice, w.yuca fries-taking yellow & green sauces on the side. The chicken was well-seasoned, with crispy skin, juicy meat, and a well-sized portion (though I'm convinced they gave my husband a half white because his chicken was MASSIVE compared to mine-easily 3 meals as he picked apart the meat & just kept having leftovers) The yuca was thick, hearty, and well fried- the plantains were a bit on the smaller size, shriveled, but quality flavoring- nice and juicy, with a bit of char crunch along the tips- The rice was very flavorless-we had to pour on green sauce to tolerate the blan taste- We also had a chance to taste the brussel sprout carrot medley, ordered by a family member, but oh no no no way too overly sweet for me- tasted as if it was doused in maple syrup I will admit, with Peruvian places being a dime a dozen in MD it all comes down to the sauces-and I was not impressed. I thought the yellow sauce was all mayonnaise based with no real seasoning kick, and the spicy green jalapeno sauce shouldn't be labeled spicy-it was mostly cilantro tasting. Overall, I wouldn't particularly opt to eat here, with so many other Baltimore delicious options- but family treated us to lunch, and it had some good elements.

Veggie Sampler- green beans, yucca fries, Brussels sprouts, sweet potato fries

Came by here recently and was pleasantly surprised with how good everything was! Poyoteca's on the corner near Power Plant. The inside is spacious and inviting with large booths. All the food is on display for you to choose, and it's a great way to take a peek before you order. Dozens of chickens spin on a rotisserie and smell fantastic. With so many delicious-looking options, we got a family meal (whole chicken and three large sides) as well as a Vegetarian Sampler (comes with four sides of your choosing). It was a LOT of food, and we had plenty leftovers. The chicken was well seasoned and moist. We loved every cut we tried. All the sides we tried were great, but some standouts: -fried yucca: sometimes can be too dry or not cooked enough, but these were perfectly fluffy and crispy. -plátanos: perfectly charred and sweet. I could eat these for days. -brussels sprouts and carrots: when I first saw this on the menu, I shrugged, but these were *fried* brussels sprouts with a delicious balsamic glaze and I wish I had ordered a larger size! -black beans: so delicious and well-seasoned. I was amazed how good these were! Don't forget to grab some sauces for dipping! They have a yellow mild sauce that seems mayonnaise-based, and a medium spicy salsa verde. I think both are a must. The folks behind the counter were fast and got our food prepped fast. Just in time, because by the time we had sat down to eat, more and more people poured in for dinner. Looks like the secret's out - great Peruvian chicken and yummy sides to be had at Poyoteca!

You have to be buzzed in and the dining room is literally the size of my living room. Very intimate. The food was superb. Stellar. Outstanding. Truly, each course was delicious, with layers of flavor and unexpected combinations. The ceviche in an intensely limey coconut broth started off the meal and I thought that if everything else sucked I would still be happy. But the dishes kept getting better. I did not anticipate enjoying veal heart skewers, but they were smoky and very reminiscent of good carne asada. The purple corn tamale was a very interesting mix of heavier corn with light ahi tuna. And even the little bowl of plantain chips they bring out first was excellent. This is a set menu, 5 courses on the weekdays and 6 on the weekends, and is a bring your own alcohol set up. As a result, there is almost no interaction with the waitress, and the food just arrives, but it is timed very well, with reasonable periods between courses.

I did not feel rushed until the desert course was served with the check. The variety of the dishes was fun to experience; each course was very different. Puerto 511 does really well with seafood. My favorites courses were the Ceviche Amazonico and the Tamalito Verde. The flavors were incredible. The Pulpo en su Causa was also a very interesting dish. The combination of ingredients and the inclusion of a cold mashed potato component were both innovative. I was disappointed with the other courses, though. The veal was tough, the lamp chop was tough, and the desert was not very flavorful. The quinoa flan and the passionfruit ice cream did not match very well in flavor or texture. The restaurant building itself was ok. The ambiance did not indicate fine dining to me. The service was not very personable. I would like to come back sometime in a different season, when there is a new menu. But overall, I would say Puerto 511 is definitely a dining experience worth trying.

The yucca fries took an extra few minutes to come out since they were frying them up fresh for us and it was worth the wait! We didn't get a chance to come for her birthday but instead, came for our wedding anniversary. We've brought family here on special occasions, celebrate my wife's birthday three years ago, have come for happy hour and we've always enjoyed the food here. It was no different this time. I absolutely loved the patacón salvaje which we've never tried before. They use cornmeal to coat the calamari so it is naturally gluten-free, which my wife was able to eat. Also, their Caesar salad was delicious. The bar was set high from our first two courses. I wanted a second order of the fried calamari but we had a steak coming. We were warned about the restaurant being short staffed on Sunday, since we told the hostess that we tried making a reservation through Resy, but nothing was available until Wednesday, which the hostess found odd. Because they were short staffed, things took longer than usual, and our food came out really slowly, but that was a communication issue with the waiter. We saw tables around us who ordered after us get their food first, but we appreciated the waiter who chdecked in on us realizing it was unusual that we've been sitting for a while without any food. The food was worth the wait though. Although the steak was good, and the yucca that came with it plus the sauces, I feel like it wasn't as special or outstanding as the first two dishes. We asked for the steak to be cooked medium, but there were parts of the NY strip that looked a bit rare. We also ordered dessert, the Cacao+ and they also brought out two glasses of non-alcoholic Prosecco which were all on the house. We will definitely be back, especially finding out that Happy Hour runs all day on Sundays.

We had to get an early reservation as they were fully booked at dinner time. The food was just okay: the appetizer with the plantain and fried calamari was okay, it lacked a little bit of dimension and was too acid forward (needed more salt to balance it). The main was the "olleta" which is a vegetarian meal; it wasn't exactly memorable. It has an incredible amount of olives and capers and not enough tofu/plaintain/mushrooms. It was also very acid forward and lacked layers/balance to the flavor. Lastly, we tried two desserts: the flan (I believe it was called quesillo) and the chocolate one. I LOVED the flan with the foam on top, and the chocolate one was towards the bitter side (which was pretty good) but I wouldn't get it again. The desserts were very overpriced for the size of it. The place is well maintained and I love the plants all around. I would like to give it another try as I like to support my fellow Latinos
