We even had the original Sherwin-Williams paint can with the specs on it. You'd think that would make things simple. You would be wrong. Home Depot tried several times. To their credit, they at least noticed the color was drying wrong. But after enough "close enough" attempts to make me question my sanity and my walls, I finally went to the Sherwin-Williams on King Street. That's where I met a younger Polynesian guy with an incredible afro and the energy level of someone who actually enjoys helping people, which frankly feels rare these days. This guy spent OVER TWO HOURS trying to get the match correct. Testing, adjusting, remixing, checking the dry-down, trying again. At one point he literally told me, "I'm still not happy with it, give me a little more time." Which is exactly what you want to hear from someone matching paint, and not from your surgeon or airline pilot. The best part is I wasn't even buying some massive contractor order. I needed ONE quart. One. Tiny. Quart. And he still treated it like a mission of national importance. Eventually, he nailed it. But honestly, the thing that stood out most wasn't just the paint match. It was the attitude. The guy was smiling the entire time. Super upbeat, super patient, never once acted annoyed. And weirdly enough, everyone else there seemed genuinely cheerful too. Management included. The whole store felt relaxed and positive, which was especially noticeable after dealing with the emotional support zombies at their auto paint counterpart store recently. Sherwin-Williams (on King Street), seriously: you've got a keeper. Give that guy a raise, a promotion, or at minimum his own reserved parking spot. Excellent service. Excellent effort. And finally, walls that don't look like they were patched using leftovers from three different dimensions.

Galen strained the paints from the old cans to the containers I took in, made replacement labels with the original information to adhere to the containers. I would definitely go back to this location for my painting needs. I've been using Sherwin Williams for over 6 years and with my phone number Galen could locate my purchase history, including while I was living on the mainland. Tale of the 10 minute lawnmower:…read more Purchased a Toro Recycler 22" 150cc Personal Pace auto-drive lawnmower with a 3 year "Guaranteed to Start" warranty - Briggs & Statton engine (Literally labeled "Guaranteed to Start" on TOP of the mower) for $499 + tax. Got it home and the lawnmower ran for 10 minutes. Dumped the clippings into a garbage can for my mulch pile and it wouldn't start. (Luckily, I still had my old mower and finished with that.) Took it back to Ace the NEXT DAY after purchase and requested a refund. They said they would have their mechanic look at it. I received a call from the mechanic who said he checked the oil, gas, and air filter and that he got it to run for 10 minutes and that the lawnmower worked perfectly and that I should come pick it up. I said that I know it will run for 10 minutes. However, their "Guaranteed to Start" lawnmower won't restart after 10 minutes and that I wanted a refund because I don't expect to pay $500 for something that doesn't start after 10 minutes. He said that it works as designed and that I should come pick it up. - So, it's designed to start, run for 10 minutes and then not be able to use it again? I'm not sure how other people mow their lawns, but I've never mowed my lawn for only 10 minutes a day, and when something says it's "Guaranteed to Start" I expect it to start again after dumping the grass clippings from the bag. I also don't have space at my house to keep 10 lawnmowers so I can mow the entire lawn at one time, (not to mention the required $5,000 investment to do so.) So as of now Ace has the 10 minutes lawnmower with the receipt, but won't issue a refund for the return. I contacted Toro who said I would need to ship it to their Service Center with the original receipt for inspection before they would discuss my cost of repair for "Warranty" work. You know... typical after you use their product for 10 minutes. Maybe the $6 worth of parts are covered but shipping, mechanics time, etc. is on the purchaser. I don't expect to pay $200 to repair something I JUST PURCHASED as BRAND NEW. If you've gotten this far: - This location is super convenient, and the staff (with RARE exception) has always been SUPER friendly and helpful - including the mower mechanic who called me. It was started in 1938 by East Oahu farmers and a Kailua papaya cooperative as a farmer-founded business entity that shifted from farming to home gardening. Today, it supplies plants, floral arrangements, fertilizers, pesticides, garden tools, etc. for home gardeners. There are currently two locations for Koolau Farmers: Kaneohe and Honolulu (McCully). This review is for the Honolulu location. Items that the McCully location carry include: bromeliads, flowers, fruit, orchids, palms, fruit trees, peppers, tropical fruits, shrubs, soil, trees, veggies, hono hono orchids, dwarf fruit trees (Meyer lemon, Tahitian limes, Naval oranges, jabong, grafted mango, avocado). It also offers seed starting supplies, fertilizers for plants and flowers, worm composting bins; and info re growing and care of indoor potted plants, organic gardening, soil testing, and proper lighting. What brought us to Koolau Farmers is my lilikoi vine that I've had in my back yard for a number of years. With the help of bees, the vine had flourished and produced many delicious fruits for homemade lilikoi desserts, such as lilikoi chiffon pie, lilikoi curd, lilikoi bars, and more. But in recent years, the flowers would bloom, but because there are no bees to pollinate the lilikoi flowers, no fruits are produced. Questions to Koolau Farmers confirmed that there is a lack of nesting sites for carpenter bees (I think they're known as the black bumblebees that we no longer see) to pollinate the lilikoi flowers, resulting in a lack of fruit. According to Koolau Farmers, the flowers must be hand-pollinated instead. Staff provided instructions to my hubby on how to hand-pollinate the beautiful lilikoi flowers. A work in progress, and I'm sure more questions to follow. Then the next project will be our dwarf local orange tree. Where is the fruit? There's a single tiny orange on it, yes, only one! Hope Koolau Farmers can help us on this one! Another work in progress. Staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and provides helpful guidance. An unlikely spot in urban Honolulu to have a nursery and garden supply store, but I'm glad that it's there! The interior space is not that big, but houses boxes of fertilizers and various home gardening equipment for home gardeners. There may be displays of seasonal items on how to grow certain plants, such as hono hono orchids. Open daily from 8a to 5p. Free parking in the private lot. On the outside private lot are scattered variety of healthy local plants, herbs, orchids, and fruit trees. McCully Branch These…read moreare the things that I noticed that could be help improve service and accommodating vehicles: 1) Workers are not very attentive when I was waiting to check out at the Cashier. 2) lots of space inside of store for plants and non-plant items (e.g. Pots, trays, posts, Soil "to make room in parking area", etc. 3) make room for parking, move tractor out from front exit. Maybe move forklift next to wall close to where soil is now and the current parking stall. 4) Where the current location of the Plastic Pots and other items are, it can be used to house other supplies, or small potted plants. 5) Remove table that is in front in parking. 6) Remove plants along NORTH wall and Herbs along the WEST wall in the parking area. It is good to have a lot of options in plants and etc. As a suggestion, it is also good to have Customers come "into" the store than to have them hang out in the parking area. Pedestrian safety is also a concern. I had to watch for pedestrians as I was parking and backing up when leaving the store parking area. This is "Safety" issue for your store. Koolau didn't have anyone outside monitoring the parking lot. There was a lot of traffic and it was hard to maneuver a vehicle in such a congested and small space.
