Precarious has been such an amazing addition to Colonial Williamsburg! There is something for everyone here. The space is huge, so you can most definitely find a seat even on their busy days. They have two major food offerings- tacos and burgers, something for everyone! I didn't order anything on this outing there, but I have had both and they are mouthwatering. They have great deals during the week on tacos and a beer or burger and beer nights. I have been there for trivia and I know they typically have live music as well. It's such a great hang out spot. There's also something for everyone if you're not a beer drinker. They have a couple of wines, margaritas, and a sangria. I had the sangria this time and it was perfectly delicious, not too sweet! Stopped by Precarious Beer for a quick drink on a Friday afternoon. Parking in one of the nearby public lots made things easy for a short walk over. There are plenty of beer options, from light, session to TIPA. We did not try any of the food, but what we saw looked delicious. If I could critique any one thing, it would be the line. There are plenty of servers behind the bar, but unless you know you need to go to the central POS stations, it can be a little confusing. Wish we had more time, but we will be back. read more

This was recommended to us by a follower on Instagram and I'm so happy we came by. It's a good sized beer hall with a game area, some patio seating, and a taco pop up. I'm not sure what else you could ask for! There was quite a bit of bar seating and a separate line to order beers. We tried a few different beers (Totes Adorbs - Belgian Double // Cleaning House - Winter Warmer // Snazzleglorp - NEDIPA) and really enjoyed all of them. They have a pretty big selection, and I think we'll definitely be back to try more and get some of the tacos! read more

Vibe: 5 stars Beer: 5 stars Food: 2 stars This is a super cool spot, and my girlfriend and I stumbled upon it via Yelp when coming back from a day trip to DC. I wanted to sit outside, which we did, and had a beer with our dinner. The beer selection was nice, and the bartender I spoke to (no beard) was really cool. Now on to the food- we were super disappointed at the lack of vegetarian options. My girlfriend (who is mostly vegetarian) got the charred zucchini taco (said it was mediocre, at best) and a cheese quesadilla that came with just chips. The quesadilla was good, but nothing special, and the chips had no salsa or anything to dip with them... I got the pork belly bowl. I should say for and foremost, I am a flexitarian (I'm a flexible vegetarian), so I'm not a huge fan of meat. I didn't realize pork belly was straight up fat pieces, so after taking a bite, I took the pork belly out of the bowl. The rice, beans, slaw & aioli was okay, but it just kinda reminded me of a thick mayonnaise taste. I wasn't a huge fan, and wouldn't get this again. Lastly, we split one xango, and it was so yummy!! If we're back in the area and stop in again, we're gonna each order a xango and split the chips with guacamole & queso. Just came from a fabulous taco 2tuesday at Precarious and the Taqueria. The taqueria is located within the precarious brewing building. There tacos were an amazing deal on 2uesday. 3 of the same tacos with 1 beer $12. We ordered beef, chicken, pulled pork belly and fried chicken. They were all amazing. This place was amazing especially for those of us parents who are tired of eating fast food with our kids. I was able to enjoy tacos while they played games which were all a $1 or under. So extremely reasonable I was also able to get 2 tacos and a beer for less than $10. I'm not a beer drinker but I had both the cake flavored and a grape beer and I would get both again. From the quarter munching Street Fighter II cabinet to some of the best craft beers in the region, there's a reason this local brewery has such a presence in the Williamsburg/Hampton Roads area. As far as beer goes, Precarious is at the apex of local breweries. Word of warning, though, this is a very IPA heavy spot. That said, they have a very palletable selection of IPAs that will satisfy dabblers and enthusiasts alike. And if you just can't wrap your taste buds around an IPA, there are a few offerings out there to appease the masses Meanwhile, the Electric Circus offers up delicious taco inspired street dishes that easily rival the beer quality. We've tried the wings, the Pollo Cordon Azul (get it?) Burrito, and smoked chicken nachos and it is beyond obvious why the line for food can often dwarf the line for beer. But this five star experience is justified in a single interaction we had at the beginning of our visit. they had a new beer on tap that we had never heard of before; a grisette. As we never heard of that style before, we naturally asked about it. The beer tender admitted he wasn't entirely sure, let us sample, and it was definitely good enough for us to enjoy a full pour. We had only been back at our table for a few minutes when the same beer tender came over to us and went through the history of the beer with us. That, my friends, is five star service and make no mistake. The staff here are always sanitizing, and even though this place gets hyper crowded, they are well trained to deal with the crush. Finish it all up with some pinball or air hockey, and you have a perfect Saturday afternoon experience. Just make sure to come early as parking can be a beast. read more

I'm not someone to leave reviews a ton, and definitely not bad ones but this place could really use some work on their food prep. I had a "pork carnitas" taco and a "seared tuna" taco. The pork texture, temperature and taste was a 1/10. The tuna was well cooked, but of obvious low quality bc it was tasteless. Their guacamole was delicious but the chips were quite stale. There are arcade games, so pretty cool beer joint. I thought they only had burgers and hot dogs, which M rated the burger a 6/10 and K thought his hot dog was mushy like vienna sausage, so he didn't like it. But I ordered the wings with cola sauce or something and I loved it! I asked for regular ranch bc I didn't like the orange combination they had. Precarious Beer Project sits inside the nice nook of a restaurant (but can also be found in a couple other locations around town). We tried the Kung Fu Kittens (can't resist a crazy named beer) and it was alright. I would say the beer advocate ratings at 88/100 are just about right. The other hazy IPA was alright as well. I think both of the beers have a hop that tastes a bit muted, so it's solid enough but nothing that I would go out of my way to come back for. Precarious has slowly become one of my favorite breweries...I love hazies and they have plenty of them! The venue is huge, plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. I love the couches that are sporadically placed. It gives sort of a homey feel. There are also a ton of arcade games along the side along with an air hockey table. We tried 4 different hazies this visit. The Krav Maga was my favorite. It wasn't too heavy, and is up there with some of my favorite Commonwealth beers. Rubber vs Glue had the highest ABV of the beers we had. I thought this would've been my fave, since I typically favor the DIPAs and TIPAs...it was good though. There is also an awesome taco spot, Electric Circus, inside. OMG, every one that I've tried has been phenomenal, and the are reasonably priced. Aside from tacos, they have other things you can get like chips and dip/salsa, nachos, Mexican corn, etc. The chips and salsa comes with perfectly salted, crispy chips and 3 different salsas. The only thing I don't like about this place...it's in Williamsburg and I'm in Virginia Beach. Please, please, pretty please open up a brewery in VB =) read more

Their beer is so good and they had tons of games to play! They ask that you wear a mask while walking around in the restaurant, but not everyone followed that. We decided to check out this establishment. It was new relative to our last visit to Williamsburg. They have a large indoor seating as well as a smaller outdoor area. The tables are large, picnic table like in size with benches but nicely finished. They have a bar and a food counter. Beverages available at the bar include beer, wine, and margaritas. They offer a selection of about a dozen beers and a limited selection of wines. I tried their Red White and Brewski Sour and Bad Wave IPA. I liked the IPA best. The food is Tex-Mex themed. You order at the counter and receive a pager to notify you when you order is ready. We had nachos with chicken and quacamole. It was large and good. It's noisy, it's a grab your own bench style table and go up to get your own food type of place, and the food is barely better than fast food quality. An exceptional spot in Williamsburg! It's one thing to have great beer (which they have in spades), but it's another thing to have delicious food and games (including 10 pinball tables)! Outstanding brewery! I have been meaning to try this place out for some time and I am glad I finally did. The space is large with plenty of seating to accommodate the big crowds their beer draws. The back of the brewery has lots of old school arcade games which I thought was really neat. I ordered one of their IPAs and was impressed with the great balance of flavor within the beer. For food I ordered the pollo cordon azul burrito from the taco window. Man was it delicious! The chicken and pork belly were crispy while the pico added a nice pop of freshness. I was so full by the time we finished. This place is popular so I'd be prepared for a bit of a wait on your food. Still totally worth it as this is such a great place to go hang out. read more

Love a good sour, this one was very tart but well balanced with a lot of fruitiness and a little earthiness from the beets, but it doesn't taste like beets, don't worry! All the food we had from the taco place was really tasty. I had a pork belly bowl, delish, with Asian inspired flavors but definitely fusion stuff. Also got chips and guacamole, which is always good but their guacamole was pretty much straight avocado, a hint of lime and salt and a tiny bit of cilantro. Not too exciting but conveniently perfect for feeding to two babies who happened to be in our party. Also the hush puppies were awesome!! Do it! Popped in here on a birthday celebration outing, after stalking them on social media for a while! They have a good selection of beers, something for every taste without a doubt! The beertenders were friendly and kept up with everyone, even though the place got busier as the afternoon went on. I enjoyed something akin to a lager, but tried one of their other beers that was described as tasting like a fruit salad....even though that one was considered a sour (if I'm remembering correctly), it did not hit like a sour, and had we stayed for a second round, I would've definitely ordered that.
