He answered any and all questions we had and went above our expectations. We didn't want a standard boring wedding video decided to have it shot in Super 8. He was easy to work with and offered us a range of services based around our budget. We were (and still are!!) completely thrilled with the quality of his work and all of the time, effort and care he put into making it perfect. He let us choose the music and didn't stop working with us until everything was right. I also appreciate that he doesn't mass produce wedding videos - each one seems to fit the couple and their style, which truly makes him stand out from other vendors. Don't hesitate to hire him!

I never thought I wanted a wedding video (picturing cheesy 90s VHS cassettes with heart wipes, etc.) so didn't bother looking for one. But then just a couple months before our September wedding, my fiance and I were visiting my parents and we all dug out the old film projector and watched their 1977 wedding that some uncles had shot on Super 8. I realized that I wanted our wedding to be captured in the same way. I searched for Super 8/8mm wedding films online, and there's not a ton of options out there, even in Boston, and a lot of them are pretty expensive (turns out that it being old technology doesn't lessen the price -- it means the actual film is harder to get and most people don't know how to work with it). Anyway, I found Dave at New England Vintage Films and luckily he was available for our wedding date. He really knows his stuff and his prices were so reasonable compared to many others I contacted (even compared to non-Super 8 options, his prices were great). He was also willing to travel to Maine for our wedding. Dave was very easy to work with, super responsive by email and phone, and flexible about meeting us in person. He's also crazy enthusiastic about what he does, which is fun and shines through in the product he puts out. He was great to work with the day of the wedding, going out of his way to get in touch with our photographer beforehand so that he could coordinate with her and the day of they worked seamlessly together and Dave was invisible. Yet he got amazing shots of everything!! He provided us with a short trailer set to one song (our pick) much faster than I could have thought possible (a few weeks and it only took that long because we were slow getting him the song we wanted to use). The trailer is perfect!!! It's absolutely beautiful and romantic and full of cute shots of the kids in the wedding (which we requested). I've watched it at least once a day and many days more than once. Everyone who has seen it has LOVED it -- people I don't even know that well have cried watching it. He captured the day and the emotions perfectly. I didn't think it could get any better but then he finished our full-length film and WOW. Again, the cinematography (I think that's the right word) is stunning and soft and beautiful. And his editing is incredible. It's perfectly set to four songs we chose and captures so many amazing moments -- some that we didn't even know were happening on our wedding day but luckily Dave caught them. He's got a great eye and somehow knew just what would mean the most to us. We've loved watching the full film online and can't wait to watch the Blu-Ray that he made of it -- we've been saving it to watch with family -- because Dave says it will be even better in that format. I can't imagine it being any better. I smile every time I even think of it. We had so much fun working with Dave and are so happy with what he produced, that we're now going to have him transfer my family's old Super 8 films! We can't recommend New England Vintage Films enough.

Donovon Photography photographed our wedding in July of 2011…read more Ted and Sarah or Donovon Photography were very receptive to our ideas and what type of pictures we wanted. They were present but invisible at the same time. We hardly even noticed their presence but they were able to capture all the right angles and moments and our guests enjoying themselves. They also puts their own creative spin on what we wanted to do. We were a little intimidated at the whole photo process but they made it fun and relaxing. When the pictures came back I was amazed and instantly in love. They were beautiful and unique, so much more than we could have asked for. The photos perfectly captured our special day! I would recommend Donovon Photography to anyone looking for not just engagement / wedding photos, but for portraits, family, maternity and other life events.

We just got our pictures back this morning from our wedding a couple of weeks back, and we're…read morebeyond thrilled. The Donovons did an amaaaazing job and made everyone look great without being annoying or obtrusive. Too often "photojournalistic" just means things look staged but corny rather than classic. These photographers stayed out of the way and didn't push people around, but managed to get beautiful shots. I kept looking at pictures this morning and thinking "whoa...there was a photographer over there??" They totally faded into the background, unless they were trying to wrangle ten first cousins, fifteen children, and ten uncles and aunts into one frame (note: numbers are estimates...but they made that picture happen!) in which case they're assertive without being awful. Also, just generally nice people and a pleasure to work with. I shopped around a lot because I was planning my wedding from Norcal so I couldn't meet my various wedding people, and part of my hesitation about using Donovon Photography was their dearth of Yelp reviews (hey, I live in Palo Alto, it means something up here). I hope this helps them - and you, smart shopper! - because I was so glad I picked them. My dad remarked that in most weddings, you get only a handful of really well done photos...and these people turned out dozens if not hundreds. I haven't seen as many wedding albums as my dad but I'm inclined to believe him. These folks are excellent, you will not regret taking them on to photograph your wedding. You *can* beat the price, but only by a little.

You don't necessarily think about it, but you spend a good chunk of your wedding day hanging out with your photographers, and so you want them to be people you enjoy. You shouldn't have any concerns with Peter and Christine. They are super fun, interesting, down to earth, and really excited to be there. They're married, and the obvious love they have for each other, and the fun they have working together, added to the wonderful day that we had. They brought a huge amount of energy to our wedding, were a blast to work with leading up to the event, and are just a remarkably passionate and talented couple who take amazing photos (and introduced us to our amazing band to boot!). We could not recommend them more highly.

We reached out on a whim and luckily enough Jodi was available on short notice for our wedding date. We truly wish that we had found her and contracted her from the beginning. Jim photographed our wedding back in 2021. He was able to capture so many beautiful, happy, candid…read moremoments. Since our wedding had been rescheduled so many times due to COVID, when we finally were able to celebrate, we toned it down quite a bit and kept it much more intimate. Jim was able to get so many photos of our friends and family just having a great day and that is what we wanted. It felt like one giant family reunion after being separated from everyone for so long due to the restrictions. I am so happy to have these photos and look back on them often. In 2023, we welcomed our first child and we wanted to get a nice family portrait done. There was no one else we would rather work with besides Jim!
