After a night of party and drinks my passengers had an "Exorcism " scene in my car. The smell was so putrid that the window had to be rolled down at all times. I have spent a few thousand dollars here over the years. They seem to be on top of their business. However, they have recently drastically raised their prices, and have priced themselves out of my business. I used to be able to get an oil change for under $20 with the coupon that they sent in the mail. Now, their oil change is $40 and the coupon only gets me seven dollars off. Additionally, they have been up charging more for every little service which brings up the bill. It's a shame, because this was my go to auto spot, and now I'm going to have to find someplace else. read more

So AAA refered me to this place after my Volvo 940 overheated b/c coolant was leaking. Yeah...pretty bad. So I get a tow and I specifically asked AAA to make sure they work on volvos. They do! Yes! So I walked in the office and Cesar helped me out. They were busy but said they could look at it and if its something small, fix it same day. They sure did. Took them about 4 hours but I didnt care. I needed my car back that same day! Partytime...lol. My cooler pump thing was broke, (I dont remember the name of the pump) so he showed me my broken part, told me how it works and why it failed, and gave me the keys. Fair price too! $230 (with AAA discount!) And I got my oil changed! I needed that done like last month...lol. I love my beater Volvo though. Cesar and his crew are the men! They hooked it up! We couldn't have asked for a better experience than we had when we needed a mechanic in an area where we were traveling through and didn't know a soul. A "friend" who we met while asking for help, told us of the mechanic at Precision Automotive in Waunakee, then led us through some beautiful farming country to his friend and mechanic, Chris, who immediately impressed us as being an expert in the business. Thanks to his immediate help we were able to get our brake problems fixed, which was due to worn brakes before we hit major traffic congestion on that Sunday after the 4th of July. I used to be able to walk there and the service was amazing. The owner Bruce was the kindest gentleman and I trusted him 100%. Mary, the receptionist was the warmest and friendliest person. All employees were really nice. Ceasar worked there for a while before he moved to the Redondo Beach location. I recently discovered this place when searching for someone to do a smog check. It is a great place to go and I will definitely be going back for an oil change and car repairs if I need them. Teresa was very welcoming and informative. I have been going to Precision Automotive since 1998 at the Westchester location. Very convenient for me. I would arrive and check in and Mary, the friendly receptionist, would ride with me to my work three miles away at the Airport Office Center on Sepulveda and Westchester Parkway and take my car back for service while I worked. At the end of my work day, a co-worker would drive me to pick up my car. Wonderful. Then the owners of the building wouldn't renew the lease and the Westchester location closed last year. While it is very inconvenient for me to spend part of a day off going to Redondo Beach for car service, it is totally worth it because of the exceptional service I receive from the talented and caring employees of Precision Automotive. read more

Chet, the owner is professional and honest. The first time I came here was to get a smog check. The second time I brought it back to get a Service A. I thought about taking it to the Mercedes dealer since my last experiences with local auto care services (see my other reviews) ended up costing me about the same if I were to take it into the dealer for service. Waaaaay over priced. Got an estimate for a repair...took it to pep boys around the corner and it was literally half as much! I've done this twice for two different repairs (new battery and struts). I only wished I would have done this the first time I went and just blindly paid an arm and a leg for my AC repair...which is still making a funny noise. Save money and just go to pep boys. thieves, crooks and lies. took my Land cruiser for smog check, before finishing the smog check Cesar said vehicle failed the emission test due to visual inspection. and he charged $68.25 for the labor and $115.00 to tell me that I need a new engine. left the shoppe very puzzled, the car drives great no problem, no engine light nothing indicate the car need major service, at this point i wanted a second opinion and that I did, went to a star smog shoppe in Torrance and the truck passed without any problem what so ever.... just as I thought the truck is fine. but, Precision automotive is recommending a new head gasket and other repairs close to a thousand dollars before it would pass... Last year I brought my vehicle here because my car broke down across the street in the parking lot at Rite-Aid. I had been having problems with the car for a few weeks and two other repair shops had no idea what was wrong with the the car because the problem was not consistent. Precision offered a solution and here I am 11 months later with the exact same problem- so either the problem was masked by a temporary fix or the part replaced by Precision is defective. In either case, Precision is responsible to either correctly diagnose the issue if they made a mistake or replace the defective part under their warranty. Last week I brought my vehicle to them and spoke with Chet. I'll admit I was extremely frustrated when dealing with Chet, I'm sure that he's a good mechanic and his shop seems reliable- it is AAA rated- HOWEVER, when dealing with me he was condescending, he would not listen to anything I had to say and gave no viable explanation for how my car could be doing the exact same thing as it did the first time I came to his shop if in fact it were correctly repaired and without a defective part. I said, "the problem is exactly the F'ing same as before." Chet asked me to leave his shop and refused to continue assisting me- he was unable to have a respectful conversation with me on any level once I questioned him. He walked away from me and went into the bays and then a woman, who is apparently his wife, came out from the small room in the reception area. She told me that in 36 years she's never seen someone so horrible. Mind you, at this point I never had seen her or spoken to her and other than the statement about my car having the same F'ing problem I had only attempted to have a rational conversation to determine what the issue is with my car. She wanted to belittle me for absolutely no reason and then once I engaged her she actually turned her back on me and ignored me. At his point, I did not have my car nor the key to my car and no one had offered it back to me. I couldn't even leave. I was angry, and I will absolutely admit that I called the woman a really bad name, and I'm not proud that I did so but the way I was being treated was unacceptable and her attitude toward me provoked a response. When I called her that name Chet came into the reception area and got in my face screaming at me that he could do whatever he wanted and say whatever he wanted, inches away from me. I said to him that he could say whatever he wanted but that he could not touch me and to get away from me. I'm 5'4" and a 100 lbs. He's more than double my size. His wife had to physically pull him away from me. Again, I realize I probably should not have called her a name, but the way they were treating me got the reaction they were looking for. He was more than willing to physically attack me and would have done so had his wife not pulled him away. Pretty scary that a two words could set someone off in such a manner. *What Chet states about the battery cables is not true. The alternator was defective and was replaced. A report was made with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. If his customers are comfortable with him getting in their faces and threatening them then good for them. I'm not. By the way, "due diligence" can also be construed as stalking-something you may want to refrain from. read more

I do not usually post on yelp, however, I felt a moral obligation and responsibility to warn others to stay away. I was directed here through AAA when my car would not drive. Unfortunately, I did not do my due diligence when selecting a location because I got stuck with the crooks here at Precision. I already knew what the problem was with my vehicle. My dad is a mechanic and after giving the symptoms, he identified it was the emergency brake cable. Of course I told the front office this; 3 days go by with no communication so I finally reach out only for Cesear to tell me that they cannot get the parts until the following week. Maybe I'm old school but I think they should have relayed that to me the moment they found out. Regardless, he stated it would cost approx $500 to repair the issue. I know the parts combined cost less than $140. And the job takes all of an hour maybe two at most to fix. So help me understand this math, I am paying $180 an hour to replace these cables?!? What a rip off. I told them I no longer wanted them to touch my vehicle and that I would take my business elsewhere. Well just to tell me what I already knew about the vehicle cost me $100. What a waste of my time and money. As an active duty military member this is not how I expected to get treated but they will rob you blind if you are not paying attention. So the next time you need your vehicle repaired, I suggest you take your business and your money elsewhere. I'd give negative stars if I could. read more

I needed to get new shocks and new tires for my car. I'm not very trusting of auto shops especially since I'm a single woman. Yelp reviews helped me pick Precision Automotive as the first place to check out. I called and talked to Cesar and he was accommodating on the phone and had a pleasant peaceful voice so I decided to go to the shop. Cesar was very helpful with pricing and options and explained things in a way I could understand. I felt I could trust him because when I asked about getting my tires a bit bigger than what I have, he checked and the price was the same as if I were buying the standard tire. Another example of feeling like I made the right decision with Precision Automotive is after the work was done, Cesar said I really didn't need to do the front shocks yet when another shop said I needed them. SIMPLY THE BEST! I had to have my BMW 750i towed to Precision Automotive because of a transmission problem. I couldn't get the car to move out of park, so I called AAA and they highly recommended Precision Automotive and told me they do excellent, honest work and they are AAA Certified! Long story short, I was immediately greeted by a beautiful smiling face...Theresa. She is one of the most down-to-earth people I have met in a very long time! After discussing the issues, and the potential charges with my husband, Theresa assured us that we were in excellent hands! I received a phone call the very next day telling me that my car was ready to be picked up. I was once again greeted by Theresa's smiling face, and could tell by the demeanor of the others in the shop that they are all long-time, happy customers - I also noticed that they (and I) were/are treated more like family than just wallets walking through the door! I understand this is a family-owned business, which makes sense. It is such a rarity these days to find a gem such as Precision Auto, and it is such a breath of fresh air to be treated with such respect! I am blown away! I will not take my car anywhere else from this point on. This all took place in early January, and my car is still running beautifully! Well, just picked up my 1994 Volvo 940 from "Precision" Auto. Paid the $416.00 bill and I am still scratching my head and kicking myself. Ya see, I usually wrench on my own vehicles, but this time I had run into time problems and quite honestly, I am getting pretty tired of lying on the cold garage floor. So I, against my better judgement, decided to take the little tank to this establishment. I thoroughly explained the problem and that I was concerned about it stalling. I explained that the gas tank registered empty because the sender (located in the tank) was bad and that I would replace it, because I didn't have to get on the floor to fix the problem. So, I left the vehicle with the "experts" and went home. I got a call a couple of days later and was told that they were working on the car and it ran out of gas. Well I found that a bit weird, since I only had put about 35 miles on a full tank of gas. So, I thought maybe I screwed up and put more miles than I thought. I grabbed my gas can and ran over another three gallons of gas and put it in the Volvo, while it sat in the "Precision" Auto parking lot. They called me a couple of days later and told me that my mass air sensor was bad. Interesting, because I replaced the sensor the day before I took the vehicle into "Precision" Auto. I told them the aforementioned, and they said it must have been a bad sensor. So, I figured that since THEY were the experts, that I would attempt to return the sensor, because it has a warranty. They called me to pick up the vehicle and when I got there, the computer was sill exposed and the panel door was off. I asked them if they had found the oil leak that I requested they find, and they told me that they had not looked. So, I left the vehicle and asked them to put it on the rack and find the leak. They called me in a couple of days and said that the oil leak was coming from the distributor shaft and that the seals probably needed to be replaced. I told them to go ahead and do it, even though it is a simple job. So, I go to pick up my car and Cesar tells me that the car ran out of gas again and that they had to put in $10.00 of gas in the car to work on it. WHAT!!!!! They ran at least three gallons of gas out of the vehicle???????? Lets see, the car STALLED, so they figured since the gas gauge showed empty, that the car ran out of gas. I refer to the beginning of this review where I explained that I was concerned about stalling. I immediately went to the gas station, after picking up the vehicle and was not able to get two dollars worth of gas in it. I continued down PCH and the car stalled, causing me to get it towed to a REAL repair shop. I have no Idea if the oil leak was resolved, because the car did not run long enough to deduce that. I even gave these cats a nice old Offenhauser manifold and a cool old FORD badge for a pickup bed door. That is when I first went there. I am a nice person and I figured since they had old vehicles sitting around that they could use the parts. Now I wouldn't give them the time of day. Being a little upset, stranded on PCH, I called Cesar and he told me that I could bring the car back in. Seriously, my sister is planning on driving the car to Utah. I wouldn't take my bicycle to "Precision" Auto, because they do NOT do good work and I love my sister. If you have an import vehicle, do NOT take it to these people. Check G-Auto in Hermosa if you want real mechanics to keep you rolling. 05/04/17, Update on my review. Update to my review of Precision Auto on 12/16/16. After much consternation and work, I finally discovered the issue with my Volvo. Precision Auto didn't even come close to the problem. The problem was the computer. I purchased another one via the internet (for about $60.00), slapped it in and the brick was back up running like a champ. I would highly recommend that if you have an import vehicle (especially an old brick) do NOT take it to Precision Auto, unless you just need the oil changed or the tires inflated. If you have an easy fix, these folks might be your cup of tea, but if your mechanical problem requires more in-depth investigation, go elsewhere. I cannot recommend G-Imports, in Hermosa Beach, highly enough for your import vehicle. They are the real deal!!! 06/07/17 Update. So one of the issues that I had this business check, was an oil leak on the back of the motor. They told me that it was the distributor shaft seal. NOT! So after they changed the distributor shaft seal, the car was still leaking, so I checked it myself and found that the valve cover gasket was bad on the back of the cover. So, over $400 dollars later I still had a leaky, bad running vehicle. I now have changed the valve cover gasket by myself and the leak has stopped. It takes a good mechanic to find the cause of a leak, and whoever they had look at my car, was NOT a good mechanic. Steer clear (pardon the pun) of this establishment!!!!!! read more

I was looking for a local shop to trust with my classic '72 Pontiac convertible. I reviewed Yelp and found good reviews for this shop and decided to leave my car with them to resolve an electrical short. Theresa was kind enough to provide a ride home for me. I was fearful that given the age of the car (and the condition of the wiring), tracking down the problem might be time consuming. In fact. Caesar and his crew diagnosed the problem and fixed it quickly. I was so impressed with the service (and reasonable charge), that I brought my car back the following week for a more substantial project - the replacement and rebuilding of the rear axle and differential. Again, the work was done superbly (I can tell because Chet took photos of the entire process) and for a fair price. This shop has earned my trust and will continue to get my business. read more

Have taken three different cars to this shop. They are very friendly, however, their prices are high and they almost always recommend thousands of dollars of repair service. My bill has almost always been a few hundred dollars to over a thousand. Their quality is usually OK, however recently they replaced my power steering pump in my Honda and charged over $450, and two months later while on a trip to San Francisco that same power steering pump started leaking fluid and had to be replaced. I'm not going to be taking any cars to this shop in the future. Found one in Torrance that is much better. read more

I had a need for repair come up recently, and turned to Yelp to help me find a local shop that could get the work on my 2004 Volvo S60 done, and done right. I spoke with one of the mechanics (Rick) via phone this morning, I explained my problem and he provided great info, and what I felt was honest feedback given the research I had already done. I took my car to the shop, and had the pleasure of meeting Chet, Cesar and Teresa. Cesar test drove, and thoroughly inspected the car and recommended timing of when to do certain repairs -- there was never any pressure to get something done immediately as the issues I had were not critical to the performance/safety. I was provided a very clear and detailed estimate for the various repairs. Chet explained (in layman's terms) what the various problems and solutions were. Again, there was no pressure to get any work done immediately. I decided to take care of one of the more pressing repairs immediately because I know I can trust this shop to get it done right, and that in of itself puts my mind at peace. To top it off, they said they could start work immediately and I was offered a ride back to work while they work on the car...GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! This is a such a great shop - knowledgeable, very friendly and detailed service with competitive pricing...what more could anyone ask for! read more

I am really happy I found this place on the AAA website and came here for my first smog check. I recently moved from Hawaii and shipped my car so I needed to get it smog checked for registration. I picked up my car from being repaired the night before and when I got in the car in the morning, the battery was dead. I called Precision Automotive to let them know I was going to be late (if I could find someone to jump start my car) and they said to let them know if I got it started and they would work to get me in that day. I was running about 15 minutes late when it was started so I called them and they said they still had time for me and that they also could test my battery and alternator so I drove right over. I had my alternator and battery tested, replaced my battery, and got my smog check, all that morning while I waited. I appreciated the AAA discount and the great service. Plus, I received a thank you and coupon in the mail later that week. read more
