Claire, the owners portly blonde wife, was so rude upon entry that I had to take my business elsewhere. I had come here years ago and swore I'd never return, but today gave it another chance. What a mistake. I had called and talked to Chaz, the owner, about a wheel issue I had, and he was so nice and knowledgeable. When I arrived Claire snatched my bike out of my hands with little to say, and took it back to the mechanic. Not a problem. She then wanted to create a profile of me on her system, which I politely declined. I asked her to skip my last name and use my first only, to which she very rudely replied, "If you're gonna do business here you're gonna do it our way." Wow. I told her I had come here before and swore them off due to her service and now she is driving me away again. I told her I run a business too and I know what it means trying to create a profile for a prospect, it's largely for marketing. She yelled at me as I walked out the door that she's had excellent customer service for 35 years and it's not her problem. Keep dreaming lady. I needed to get a back bike tire for my bike yesterday. I called there and Chaz answered. Said he had another repair to do by 3, but bring the bike in. So, I got over there (do not have a car at this time). Great service here from Chaz and Claire!! Now, I do have to say I was not allowed in the store, and that they have masking requirements. I agree with these, b/c we are NOT out of the woods yet in terms of Covid-19. PLEASE WEAR MASKS HERE. Chaz looked at the tire, which had a split in it and took it back to the store. He had a good tire for about $30.00 and labor was $15.00 about. I waited outside for about 15-20 minutes, and it was fixed. He even tightened the front tire as bike was kind of wobbling. Had a great convo with Claire as well re: Covid. I used to work on the County Hotline, so I agree with their position about masking and vaccinations. Not everyone is going like that though. But there are only two of them and if one gets sick for 5-10 days, that is a huge loss. Great owners and great service here. I'll definitely be back for further repairs. read more

Claire is awesome. We've purchased three bikes now from them and soon a fourth. This is exactly the kind of local bike shop you want to purchase a bike from! Picked up a bike to start doing a portion of commute on a bike. At the time, I definitely was biting off more than I could chew. However, Claire got me into a bike that I really love. It makes riding feel so seamless! In the same trip, my youngest spotted a kids cannon dale she could not live without. Recently, my oldest was ready for her next bike after graduating from training wheels. She too easily found a bike she was in love with. In all three experiences, Claire has been fantastic. She recommends things you may need and why but isn't trying to sell you every bell and whistle. Their selection of products is good, but they can get you anything in the store very quickly. If they don't have the color of bike you want built, they'll build it in a day. Can't say enough about this amazing local owned business. Don't buy a bike without stopping here first. I recently bought a two-wheeled adult scooter. I needed a rack and a more comfortable seat. I stopped by The Hub Cyclery to see what they could do for me. Claire showed me several racks, some in stock and some not as well as the great Cloud9 saddle. She ordered the perfect rack for me. Sturdy and very affordable and we ended up ordering Cloud9's Cruiser saddle. Email communications were very prompt and the stuff arrived in no time. Being retired and somewhat lazy I had Chazz do the install.....especially since it was so reasonably priced! Excellent job and he had excellent suggestions for the now displaced brake light that was mounted to the old seat. I took his advice! Very happy with the products, pricing and service at Hub Cyclery. I always take my beach cruiser here, and they are great about personalizing service to me. I've had quite a few problems with thorns puncturing my tires, and they found a green goo to put into the tubes that would seal the holes even for nail holes! My favorite part about my most recent trip there for a tune-up was that when suggesting products for my bike like a front basket, bags for the back, etc, they realized I'm a twentysomething female, and ugly bags and utilitarian baskets wouldn't work for me. Being a huge believer in supporting small business owners, we wanted to come here first! The staff is super helpful, knowledgeable & outright nice. Spent over an hour trying different bikes & NO pushy sales speeches. They ask about your budget & what you're looking for. I bought a much higher end mountain bike that I intended, only due to the handling & my comfort on it. I waited 20 yrs to get a new bike. Had to run a few errands, came back 30 minutes later & was out the door with all the add on's attached. That would NEVER happen @ REI, the line alone can take that long. Had a really awkward and truly upsetting experience today when I tried to bring my son's bike in to have it looked at. We bought it off amazon just due to affordability and it was not shifting right. I called the shop and the owner, a very nice man, said he could look at it and let me know if it was worth putting the money into or just returning it. I brought it in the next day and was met by the other owner. She was very cold and impatient with me. She made me feel extremely unwanted and then told me she wasn't sure how long it would take and basically made me feel as if I was unwelcome. I was battling the decision as to whether to return it or put money into it to have it fixed and did have a lot of questions for her. This seemed to really irritate her. However, I decided to still give them my business. What changed my mind was when she was taking my information she proceeded to make the comment " its not my fault you bought the bike from amazon" that really threw me and insulted the fact that that was what I could afford. I then responded ' I never said that it was your fault the bike is not working" and she became very defensive with me. At that point I knew this was not the right fit and if I was going to need to spend the money to make the bike work correctly it was not going to be there. I have NEVER been made to feel this way from a local business and will not ever go back nor refer future customers. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but she had very little patience with me and had the most condescending and rude demeanor I felt the need to express my VERY uncomfortable experience! Local, family owned by bicycle riders, and the shop has been in Cotati forever! Friendly knowledgable staff, and they won't try to sell you stuff you don't need. They carry very few used bikes but this is the same as all the bike shops these days - I remember when they used to carry more used bikes. With that said - they carry high quality bikes that have more features than some of the other brands - so you get more for your money. I went to them first and then shopped around before going back to them to buy. If they don't have it in the shop they will order it. They're only fixing a flat on my road bike tire, and soon I'll ride away. The shop's located at the somewhat north and west-ish side of a town whose size and center's name just begs for a bike shop pun. And yes! It's called the Cotati Hub, it's fame is under-sung: such fate deserves redress humbly attempted here. They're quick, They're smart, they're pretty friendly, too. Full of intelligent small talk tricks to pass the time: I barely knew I knew so much about the Tour of recent repute, and yet we spoke (haha) as if old friends. Unsure of ever returning, I thank the folk And peace. And only three days passed before I find myself right back at the hub, more than a little downcast at the the theft by some bike-jack of my saddle. They fix it; we rehearse laments at human corruption. At the counter again, Did I want to hear about future events and bike shop sales? And this was when They recognize me. They recognize me! On my second visit! This is why I insist you patronize The Hub. It seems they never miss A thing, and such attentive care Is exactly what I would like to find in those to whom I I trust repair. What a great business. I love good customer service. I needed a bike rack to fit on my Prius. As far as I know, there are about two bike racks that will work on a Prius. One is around $500 and the Hollywood F6 I bought for $150. They had the rack in stock. Beautiful. The guys that were working there had been well trained as far as customer service goes. They had never actually put this rack on a Prius, and we all went out and installed it. Great rack. Great people. Great business. Not sure about these negative reviews. I had purchased a bike in the past from them, and didn't have any negative experiences but today however, changed that completely and I will never be supporting them again. My husband got a flat on his ride and went over there to get a tire. Chaz opened the door and gave him a tire and pump to change outside since they weren't open yet. He went in to pay and the women started screaming at him to get out now, and was screaming "get the heck out of the store". He asked why and her response was "because you don't have an f***** mask!" Her husband came out and explained they are still implementing the mask mandate, which is their right to do, but the manner in which she said that was one of the rudest I've ever seen. She has absolutely no place in customer service! And if you want someone to wear a mask, maybe you should offer to give them one. ‍ Definitely do NOT recommend spending your money here. read more

Mrs. Bunny and I finished a wonderful ride last week. After drinking some hops and barley (which we usually eat), I found that Mrs. Bunny's rear hub was a bit loose so I disassembled it for analysis. Well, the hops must have screwed up Fluffy's brain because I had no idea how to reassemble the hub. The wonderful folks at The Hub came to my rescue. My wheel hub was repaired sooner than expected, perfectly done, and at the price quoted (which was far lower than another Yelp referenced repair shop). The owner is a true bicycle enthuisast who gives time off credit to his employees that ride to work! They always take the time to talk and have time for you, so they know what customer service means and that means something to me. They are definitely a small local shop and that's why I try to give them all my parts biz and occasional service when i don't have the brand specific tools, the prices are good & the mood is right. Service is quick and reasonably priced. I take my wheels to Hub for truing and am always satisfied with the results. The challenge of a small bike shop is selection. That being said, they have had some off the wall parts that no one else had. If you need work done, I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call. These are bike guys. No frills, nothing fancy. These business owners are great. I arrived with 3 bikes. 2 bikes just needed quick handle bar adjustments, but I didn't have the correct tool and stripped the screw head some when attempting at home. The handle bar adjustments were made quickly on site & free. The third bike required lots of work after falling off the back of a truck. They thoroughly explained all the recommended repairs with resale value in mind and gave me various price/repair options. Very professional, knowledgeable and fair service. I was initially dreading bringing these bikes in, because I've heard rumors of high prices being charged given the bike shortages during COVID.
