We had a few minor leaks that present during large storms. I called to see if we were in Powell's service area, and was told that we are. Gary came out to visit our property in mid October. He spent no more than 15 minutes at the house, most of which was spent standing next to his truck. He measured for gutters (a secondary request) and didn't bother to climb up on our roof to see for himself what was going on (we have significant flat roof components that can't be seen from the ground where the leaks are). After not hearing anything back via email or phone for weeks, I called and spoke with Powell's staff on FOUR separate occasions over the course of months after the visit to try to get the estimate that was promised us or any indication of next steps. Each time, the same person answered the phone and acted surprised, that Gary hadn't gotten back and that she would text/email/call him and make a note in his calendar for him to return our calls. Here we are in January, and we have come to terms that Gary has totally ghosted us. No email, no text, no callbacks, no returned voice messages. Just nothing. Who's Gary? He owns the company. One would think that an owner of a local business, particularly one with his name on it would be responsible enough to return a potential customers' (multiple) follow-up calls. It's either a sign that this business is disorganized, disrespectful of clientele's time or both and if they can't do the basics, I am not sure they can be trusted to do a job on a roof. As new-to-the-area homeowners, we have contacted many, many other companies for various work around the property and even in the wake of storm Ida, even though we had to wait a few weeks for an initial appointment due to backlog, every single other company got back to us without issue. And for a direct comparison, I reached out to another local roofing company and the gentleman who showed up to assess our home spent about 2 hours at our home inspecting the roof and siding. He actually climbed up a ladder, took pictures of trouble spots on our roof to show us, provided a detailed summary of what he found and what work he recommends we perform over the next several years, carefully prioritized and reasonably priced. This time, we are greatly disappointed; they did nothing with the gutters, leaving nails popping out, but told me I had a problem with part of the roof, but no definitive scope of work. Then someone claimed to be a representative called to talk about "roof work", including replacing all of my skylights. When asking for an estimate, it was refused and the person just kept reiterating the same phrase, "you have an expensive home".
