I phoned this garage door company and they sent someone out the next day to view my problems I was having with my garage door. The tech kept giving me different prices and promised to return the following day between 2-4 to fix my door. He never showed up. Precision Door Service has repaired my garage door on two occasions (in 3/11 to replace the garage door opener and rollers, and today to replace two springs and a bearing), and both times the final bill was 50-60% higher than the verbal estimate given by the repairman. I have concluded that this is a dishonest company. Today, I was told that I would pay $185 for the springs (which I confirmed with the repairman), $95 for the bearing, and around $100 for labor, but the total bill was $650. The previous bill was over $1,000. And yes, each time they tried to sell me stuff I did not want, like a lifetime warranty on the springs. Next time, I will look for someone more trustworthy. read more

Well, I have a positive update. Precision came back and made it right. Thank you! Can't believe the positive reviews on this company and am giving it zero stars. It deserves zero stars, but apparently on Yelp you have to give at least one star so I'm doing that. We called this morning and asked for an estimate for a new spring on our garage, because the spring broke. All we needed to be replaced was the spring, but the guy kept pressuring us to buy other things. When we kept saying all we wanted was the spring, he got very annoyed with us. He also said that if the spring was replaced, it would only last a week or two. What on earth? Why would a brand new spring only last a week or two? NOW FOR THE UNBELIEVABLE PART.....The guy told us us he didn't need or want our business and also said "fuck you" to us and drove away! Unbelievable!!!! Don't ever work with this company! read more

Had a Sunday emergency repair performed after a neighbor backed into our garage door. Called Precision Door Repair and a technician was out within an hour of calling. Our technician "DOUG B." was outstanding. Not only was he knowledgable and personable, he was very thorough in his work and getting our door working like new. Initially we assumed we would have to get a "new door" but after Doug arrived he said he would not leave until the door work and he kept his work. I had the Precision Door Service guys come and look into my garage door problem. (Garage door was not opening). They diagnosed it as a motor problem and quoted about $625 to replace the motor. Motor was fixed and garage door worked fine BUT they said they do not carry and fix the bulbs. We were told we had to put our own bulbs. Not a problem, we handed some energy saving bulbs (flourescent).. Mechanic said they won't fit, we need to put the old style incandescent bulbs. So after spending $625 we have a working garage door but the light does not work till I get a appropriate bulb from the store. Avoid this business!!! When I called about replacing a broken spring and asked for total cost, the operator quoted a price of $49.95 for service charge and ~$70 to $168 for a spring. When the technician Mike R. Arrives, he immediately quoted ~$400 because of additional service charge ~$150. This is a scam. I ended up paying the technician $49.95 and letting him go with nothing gone. I don't mind pay the right amount and definitely don't want to be cheated!!! Plus, the technician was very unfriendly. Not sure if anyone could top Aramis! My garage door wouldn't open on Sunday night. I called Precision @ 8:10, Aramis arrived at my door @ 8:35. What a turn around time! That's not it! Not only was Aramis prompt, he was polite, clean and professional. He took his time to examine the entire garage door even though we were both already certain right off the bat that it it broken spring. He did his walk through anyways to make sure there are not additional problems. Aramis explained everything from start to finish, and kept me in the loop. I agree with the previous reviews. They are a scam! We called them out to repair a weak cable, the service guy started telling us all the things wrong with our door and that it needed to be replaced at an estimate of $1,500 to $2,000. He said the rollers were worn and the spring would be damaged and fall off in a week. We agreed to replace the rollers which cost $150 plus the cable for an additional $200. In hindsight, I HIGHLY recommend getting at least two or three estimates first. But don't bother calling Precision, because they will charge you $50 just to come out. read more

Great service! James, the technician who arrived and performed the work, clearly explained the scope of work and what my repair options were. He was friendly, efficient, and hardworking - he had all the components already in his truck so he was able to complete the repair within a few hours of arriving for the diagnosis. The door now functions more smoothly than I ever thought possible (it is QUIET!) thanks to the new pulleys, cables, guidewheels (polymer material like rollerblade wheels) and powdercoated spring which doesn't require lubrication anymore. I scheduled an appointment with these guys and Brandon gave me a call even before he came out to give me some suggestions on what could be the problem. This was in case it was something minor I could fix myself and they wouldn't have to charge me the service fee. I thought that was a nice touch and something that most companies wouldn't bother to do. Also, it would've made me feel like an idiot if I paid the fee for someone to come wipe off the sensors. I ended up needing a little more work than something simple but it was all done quickly and for a fair price. Brandon was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would never use this company again and I do not recommend them unless you want to get ripped off and over charged. I had a double garage door that got stuck mid way due to my kids playing around with it in April of 2012.I called Precision Garage Doors and was honest on what happened to the door. The technician Rick came out, He accessed the door and explained that the cables need to be replaced, the track was bent and it would cost me $125.00 plus labor and parts to fix. I was charged $366.00 for replacing the cable, straightening the track and greasing all the moving parts. Rick told me I had a one year warranty and if ANYTHING WENT WRONG it would be covered. WRONG. The door got jammed this morning on an empty cardboard box and came off the track that was previously bent. Again, I was HONEST and did not lie about what happened. I called and spoke with Mike the Operations Manager, he told me that Rick was the best technician and that he must have told me I need an over haul but I must have refused. Mike was sure and assumed that Rick was thorough and that I refused because I did not want to pay $850.00. THIS IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED. If Rick was thorough, why didn't her write on the work order his recommendations and a clear break down of the costs. Mike was not able to explain, why if the cable was $125.00 and I was charged $366.00, was the remaining $241.00 labor. He avoided my question and never answered it. Mike told me this happens all the time and then PEOPLE call and act like its not their fault. I know it is my fault for leaving a cardboard box in the way, but you would think that this would be handled differently. The truth is Rick did not recommend any additional work on the door or I would have paid for it. Rick did say he could put in a whole new door and it would cost me over $1200.00 and that I did refuse. He did not put on the work order that he recommended to have a door overhaul. After 45 minutes of discussion, Mike stated he could offer me a door overhaul done by them and he would give me a credit for the $366.00 I already paid. A door overhaul usually costs $850.00, so I would only have to pay an additional $490.00. When I asked about the warranty, he did not clarify what would be covered if I have another issue in the future with my door. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? Why would I give them more money for a warranty full of holes. This company appears to just be in to make fast money and does not care about customer satisfaction and retention. read more

One star for prompt service, but otherwise find another company. There are many out there. I have replaced broken springs at my house three times for $135-$145 with absolutely no drama. Recently the single spring broke on the garage door at my rental condo, inconveniencing the tenant. I checked the web and chose Precision because they were local and available. Paulino arrived and said I needed not only a new spring, but new rollers, bearings and cables for $950 +tax. I immediately smelled a rat as the entire low end, single car system could be replaced for about $600 NEW! I declined and magically the price went down to $850, then $750. I insisted on just a new spring. Paulino acted disgusted and grunted that it would be $168--more than I expected, but didn't have time to start over. Paulino finished and gave me a bill for $413! He had taken it upon himself to replace the "center plate bearing" and added a $50 service fee (that no one else charges). We debated, but I ended up paying the bill. Shame on me, buyer beware and all that stuff. I called Operations Manager Mike Feahy, primarily about Paulino's tactics and the poor reflection on his company. Mike was mainly concerned that Paulino didn't get written authorization from me before starting the work, which would not have happened for more than $168. Mike calculated the disputed amount to be $180 and offered to split it; two weeks later my card was credited $90. Reading the reviews indicates your experience will depend on the tech dispatched. Doug and Erik appear to be great. All the specific references to Paulino are negative. There is also a disturbing pattern of comments about up charges and the need for extra work. read more

I only gave 1 star because that is the lowest allowed. The technician, Shawn, appeared competent and very pleasant. However the problem came with their pricing and guarantee. Shawn had to call to price the repair and quoted me $350 but they would not guarantee the job even if it didn't work the next day. I thought this was outrageous. Since they didn't have replacement for my frayed cables, I was quoted another price by phones view for another service call with parts as $450 in addition to the $350. I declined their service for price gauging and for not standing behind their service I had the entire job done the next day for $231 by R & S in Concord. Pat, the owner reached out to me by phone and apologized for what happened. He said they are a family business and wants to treat his clients well he offered to compensate me for my time and split my costs but I declined. I appreciate him trying to right this situation and he promised to improve his company's policy and treat clients better. I am adding a star to my review. read more

Not sure what people are used to paying, but I felt robbed by these guys: due to a box blocking the rail of my garage door, the door ended up skewed out of its rail and got stuck, halfway open. The good thing about Precision Door Service: they showed up the same day. The bad news: the guy wasn't friendly at all and worse: told me he could fix it, for no less than $420! If not, then I'd have to pay the $50 fee for stopping by. This company is a rip off. The guy came on a Saturday. The lady I spoke with told me the tension spring costs $160.00 the guy said I have two springs. Agreed each one is $178. The bearing has to be changed too another $200.00 taxes $50.00 fuel charge $30 Service charge$50.00. By the timer he left I had paid him $600.00 and he kept negotiating I must change the rollers for $200 dollars. He was obnoxious pushy and too aggressive for my liking. I called precision to come out and fix my garage door customer service was great totally worked with my schedule. The Tec was James he let me know 30 minutes a head of his Arrival and was on time. My door was supper jacked up and James fixed it like it was nothing. I would highly recommend this company. Pricing is a little higher then other door repair services but totally worth it. We found this company in the yellow pages. I checked out the websites of all other competitors and this company called my attention the most. I loved the fact that we were guaranteed an appointment the same day and that the yellow pages ad also guaranteed that all technicians are sent out with all parts...no waiting for parts needed! I had the pleasure of dealing with Al Choro, a sales representative from Precision Door Service. Al came to the house, called to let me know he was on his way, and was on time. He spent time explaining every aspect of the door, answered all of my questions. I'd never had a roll up motorized garage door before, so I had many questions. He gave me three estimates, even said that frequently their doors are more expensive than others but this is why etc. The first estimate I'd received was from another company, and that price was nearly twice what Al quoted me for his top of the line model, and the other door did not have all the features that Al's does. Eric and Moses came to install the door, and it is wonderful. I don't know how I've lived this long without a motorized garage door. If you're looking for a new garage door, please call Al Choro at Precision, he knows his product, he is a charming and patient human, and he is honest. My Garage door cable came loose. I called Precision Door Service because the reviews seemed good. The young man that came was more of a salesman than a repairman. Very nice but he told me the job would take a half hour no parts just labor and quoted me $330. I thought that seemed pretty high. He spent 20 minutes trying to up sell me on servicing the other garage door that wasn't broken. I paid $49.95 to a salesman to listen to his pitch. I did not get the cable re attached for $330 so I wrote a check for $49.95 to listen to a sales pitch. I tip my hat to them. I don't know any other buisness that charge to hear their sales pitch. We were very disappointed with Precision Garage Door. We purchased a brand new door in 9/2011. It was higher than any other quote we received. All 3 people who came out explained that it was because they offered a LIFETIME WARRANTY on the door and if ANYTHING goes wrong just let them know and it would be covered. The cables broke and so we called for service. They looked up and said they would be out the same day. Once they arrived the service technician told us we had to pay a service call charge. We regretfully paid it and phoned the office for clarification. I questioned WHY this wasn't told to us when we purchased the door OR when I called in for service. BS way to conduct business. Called in to speak with management and no one would take the call. A company like this won't be around long mistreating and lying to customers. read more
