On a more personal note, I visited Albertine three times before deciding to feature it on The Boutique of the Week, not because I was wary of the selection, but the price is higher than my norm. However, Albertine truly is too good to pass up and is the perfect place to splurge and treat yourself to an amazing piece (or two, or three...). The jewelry is the best feature of Albertine and will have you coming back just to drool over it. The exquisitely edited collection is priced from $100 to a steep $1,000+. The beautiful vintage pieces are displayed in glass cases, but touching and dressing up is encouraged. Delicate necklaces share a wall with leather cuffs, and pendants of owls and horns share a case with a silver snake ring and jade earrings. Prices can only be found out from a large binder where handwritten notes and photos document the inventory. The womenswear boasts up-and-coming designers and custom-made pieces that are feminine and vintage-inspired ranging from $150-600+. Flowy fabrics in all colors can be found in floor-length silk gowns and highly-structured bomber jackets. The cozy store normally only has one or two sizes displayed, but the staff is happy to find you the perfect fit in the back. A Victorian couch faces a large mirror for ample viewing, and you can even sometimes find the owner's dog napping as the eclectically chic staff offers spot-on critiques and styling tips. The bag arrived six days later, boxed nicely in a Loewe dust bag. I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

This review is mainly, though, for the fragrances. There was a fragrance specialist named El-Aton Georges, who was eager to use his knowledge to help us, since I am so picky. He made it fun. It was like, "Okay, you may detect notes of this and that" even though I would be detecting opening notes of "a grandma apple putting her sandalwood cigarettes out into a bar of Irish Spring" or "a leather lemon changing motor oil while eating linen popcorn in a savannah rain, with end notes of Lil' Debbie Cosmic Brownie" So, look for El-Aton, and tell him I sent you. They danced and sang. Everyone stopped to watch them. Then they went up the escalators. I'm not sure but I think they had the parents and children go up stairs. I think Santa reads a book to the kids. The Holiday's is a great time to go to the NYC Flagship store. Been to the shoe department and saw some boots I liked. They did not have my size so I ordered them. The shoes came to my home but they did not look right. Ordered the next size down and had them delivered to the store. They fit perfectly so I got a refund on the first pair. Now I saw these beautiful Sam Edelman shoes and fell in love. They were my size but they were suede. I really had to think about this purchase because it was $220. Well I gave in and picked them up today. I've also ordered the same boots but in leather. I can't wait until they are delivered to the store. I ordered two different sizes to make sure I get the one that fits the best. The last couple of boots I ordered are a high boots with a wide calf. You know how hard it is to find these types of boots? I've always looked but was afraid to purchase because of comfort. All the boots I have purchased are comfortable.

From what I could see on the first floor, there were four sales associates with no other customers. I was never offered a showing of anything on other floors (they have several, i believe?) One person appeared to be assigned to help me, but she kept saying "no, we don't have anything like that" when I was asking for basic work wear. If you're in the market for a pink ballgown or a logo t shirt, this may be the place for you. But you have to enjoy feeling like you're bothering the sales staff by merely being there. Too bad - honestly I was ready to drop some dough, but they weren't interested. I should go back and do the Pretty Woman "big mistake. Huge" thing, but it's not worth my time.
