Muhammad came same day I called. Had issue with my tankless water heater. He ran a diagnostic and told me what was wrong. I was leaning toward replacing water heater with brand new one and scheduled for him to replace next day. I don't know what he did during diagnostic but the heater seems to be working fine again. I called to tell him this and if we can hold off on replacing water heater and if it fails again I'll replace it. He was kind and didn't make a big fuss about it. Muhammad managed to help me with my sewage line replacement all in a single day. The older sewage line had quite a bit of roots and sewage weren't flowing properly and back flows were coming out of clean outs. His quote was the lowest and he gave me the most confidence and was the easiest to work with. He came all the way down to San Jose to do this work. Muhammad came out to give my landlady an estimate on re-piping the entire house. I was not given any notice that he would need to access the attic (not the landlady's fault, I'm sure), so of course my bedroom furniture was in the way of the ladder that folds down from the bedroom ceiling. Instead of asking if we could make a quick group effort to move it (hardwood floors = hello, super easy), he suggests that he can STAND on my bed to stand and see what he can see from there. WTF? #1-You have SHOES on. #2-Even if you took them off, I don't KNOW you and don't want your foot sweat/ toe cheese where I sleep. #3-If you can just "Take a peek" by standing on my bed, then there isn't really anything you need to see THAT badly up there anyways, so why even suggest it? I thought that would conclude the negative experience. Wrong. She hired them to do the job. My dad was a general contractor for over 30 years (Dr. of Homes, Fremont, retired). He said that when cutting walls open for any reason, he'd have wet down the areas to be cut, and used a hand saw instead of a Sawz-All. They cut open the walls without doing anything to prevent the dust from exploding all over the house (like my dad would have done above). In any house built prior to 1978, there is very likely to be lead in the paint, and asbestos in the tape putty used... and this genius and his crew kicked up a cloud of it all over the house (built in 1956). I wish I was exaggerating. They took the liberty of using a step-ladder that I have to reach stuff, since I'm short... without asking... and got this white dust ALL OVER IT. I asked them to clean it up before they left. They said ok, but of course they didn't. I am also mysteriously missing a jewelry tooling kit (wire cutters, jump ring tools, bead sizer, and bead bore file)... last seen New Years when I cleaned my house for company. The only people that had been in the house since then were the landlady and the plumbers... Summary: While I can't choose who is coming to the house if I'm not the one responsible for paying the bill, I can definitely urge other potential clients to pick another plumber or to try Pleskach Plumbing instead. When I turned on the water in the master bedroom, we heard water dripping. We are suspecting that the water pipe inside is leaking on the third floor. It is not visible, but I will hear the sound on the ceiling. Those guys responded quickly when I asked in Yelp for a quote. They came on the second day with a free charge of inspection. We explained to the man who answered that this issue had happened before (older home) and the line clean out is accessible in 2 areas. The holidays are meant to be spent with friends and family and spreading the cheers with your hard earned money (credit cards for some of us); not for a WATER HEATER...:( So I wake up to the sound of water dripping from the water heater in the closet; opened it up and water is everywhere. WTF... shut everything off and cleaned up the mess and assess the damage and determine how to avoid spending $$$. Tried to Mac Guyver it and keep it going, but eventually gave up and started calling for a professional. Let me tell you, trying to get someone to come out or return your call right before Christmas weekend is Almost impossible. Of the top 10 rated companies listed in my area, only 2 called back and were able to come out. Better Water Heaters came out and gave me a quote of $1200 to replace the water heater plus the extra materials. I checked and a typical 40 gal water heater cost $400-$500 and the extra materials about $100. That's $600 for the parts and $600 for labor. I'm not sure if it's because there were two of them or the price is higher because of their Diamond star rating, but Dammmm that's a lot especially when I've read it cost $700 to $900 to replace a water heater. I told them $900 was what i was willing to pay and they came back with $1100 so i thanked them and showed them the door. Thank God Muhammad of Plumber Squad called back. I explained to him what the situation was and when i needed to get the work done by. He gave me and estimate of $700-$800 for my situation but need to see it in person for and exact price. He came out on the morning of Christmas Eve so the work could be completed by noon so i could go get my Christmas ON. The final cost was $900. Actually it was $850 because he knocked it down since we went with a 38 Gal tank that was only in stock until Monday the 27th. After submitting it the company contacted me explaining that the employee who did not show up 3 days in a row was fired and they would like to do anything to have the opportunity to make it up to me. They asked if there was anything in our house that needed attention that they can do for me (free) so they can redeem themselves. We made a date and time for Muhammed to come out to fix the leaky toilet and also a very slow draining sink that constantly needed Drano. He showed up in the time frame he said he would and then went out to purchase a flapper part for the toilet. He fixed both problems and was very, very personable and polite. A very nice man that I would not hesitate to call again should I need a plumber. In a nut shell I have to say I really admire this company that took a terrible review and faced up to the shortcoming that caused it and then fixed it. It truly helps to shop around ... and in our case, the Plumbing Squad was worth it! Our water heater started leaking on Saturday night, and we called the number of the company that originally installed the old water heater, thinking we would get the best deal through them because they did the initial installation (we purchased an old house 5 years ago). Over the phone, we were told that they were going to charge $99 for someone to come and do an inspection, and from there they will make the assessment and let us know the estimate cost. The $99 would be applied towards the total cost. The guy told us that the unit itself needed to be replaced because it's 20 years old. Because the leak was coming from the bottom of the tank, more than likely there was no saving or repairing it. Also, pipes have to be replaced, and the tank needed to be on the riser ... and on and on he went. After all was said and done, his quote was for $3,040!! $3,040?!?!?! What in the world?!?!?! My husband told him upfront we don't have that kind of money right now. The guy gets on the phone with their office, and 5 minutes later, told my husband that they can reduce it to $1,700! An almost $1,400 difference in 5 minutes?!! That was enough for us to let them know that we will get other quotes because it just didn't seem right! True enough .... Thanks to YELP, our search lead us to the Plumbing Squad. We gave them a call and gave them an overview of what happened and they said they were going to send someone to check it out. The initial cost over the phone was $950 out the door. Too good to be true, considering the first guys gave us $800 over that!!! We placed the call at 9am. We were told to inspect the guys between 11-noon. At 11:30, we received a courtesy call that they were running late, but that they should be here by 12:30. On the dot, they arrived and after a few exchanges with my husband, they got started on the work. Basically, everything the first company told us that they "needed" to do, and "needed" to charge us turns out to be unnecessary according to the Plumbing Squad guys. When we told them how much we were being quoted ~ even they were shocked!!! In an hour, the new water heater was installed, all brackets safely securing it. The pipes that needed to be changed were done, and they cleaned up after themselves and we are back to having hot water again!!! Amazing guys, clean and superb job, and well done at that!! The water heater we had was so old that it was pumping out rusty water so we decided to replace it. We did our own research on which water heater to buy and just wanted someone to install it. We called Mohammed since Plumbing Squad seems to be experienced with water heaters. Mohammed gave me an option to buy a package of heater+labor or just the labor. Eventually he agreed to install whatever heater we get for $250 (including hual away) plus $50 for pick-up from hardware store. Upon arrival, he mentioned the new model does fit the piping I have right now so he will need to add $150 for adjusting the piping on top. I acknowledged it. He did a clean job installing the heater, flashing out the rusty water in pipe and adjusting the piping on top with the parts he brought all by himself. Total was about $400 which is quite reasonable. I don't have enough experience to judge whether it was a 5-star service, but I would recommend Plumbing Squad for water heater installation to anyone. read more

I called up Muhammad for a leaky valve on my old rusty pipe. He showed up the next morning with his crew and discussed his plan and cost with me upfront. In the middle of the fix, we found bigger problems with my old pipe and had to take plan B and repipe the section from city water supply up to my valve. Though this happened unexpectedly, I have to do this overdue upgrade from galvanized pipe soon anyway. Muhammad and his team did an awesome job and charged a fair price. He did everything according to the plan and we had our new pipe and running water. Before leaving, he asked us to check every faucet to make sure the water is running fine.
