Update I changed 4 stars to 5 stars. I think they changed their chef. The taste has been changed; it became much better. The amount of food became a lot too. I can't finish it at one time. I saw some bad reviews about food and delivery, but I really wanted to have butter chicken at that time. I just ordered it. It came to my house on time and food was really good. Delivery heaven. Okay look, I agree this place is kinda kooky in-person, but to be fair, in-person's really not their thing. They're really a delivery, catering, and event thing. Best little Indian place. I found this gem of place on GrubHub and thought I would give it try. Hands down my favorite Indian go to. Every dish I have tried has been outstanding. The Murg Tikka Tandoori is my favorite kebab, and the Paneer Kadai is my favorite vegetarian dish. Their stuffed Naan with potatoes is also a treat. My friend and I ate here for lunch. The hot tea tasted weird as if it was some kind of powdered mix. I think they put powdered cream and fake sugar in it. The rice was dry and cold. Both of our meals were small lunch portions and barely like warm. Then they charged for dinner portions. They charged for each piece of nan which tasted like a week old and also barely heated. We payed a lot of money for Indian food that tasted like they had sitting out and never heated. I will never eat at preet palace again. read more

I have been to alot of Indian restaurant but never had a butter chicken like theirs. It's so delicious and worth trying with their naan.

Ordered dinner here on a weekday and my overall experience was very bad. When placing my order over the phone I asked the guy about whether I could use the Yelp 10% discount and he said "yes." So things seemed like they were off to a good start. Everything went downhill when I went to pick up my food. When I entered the restaurant, I waited over 5 minutes before any employee noticed me. There were only two tables the waiter was serving. When he finally noticed me waiting at the front (only after one of the cooks in the kitchen gave him a heads up), he told me to wait at the bar. A few minutes later he walked over and rang me up. When I showed him the 10% coupon on my phone he just shook his head and said he can't accept it because it's not a paper coupon. He also added that I can only use these types of phone coupons at the airport...wth??? I asked him why the restaurant posted the coupon if it won't accept it. He just told me his owner won't accept it and swiped my credit card. The guy couldn't speak English very well and he's just following the restaurant owner's policies so I just smiled and decided to let it go. When he brought the food out a few minutes later I asked him for some utensils and he just told me to pick them up myself at the end of the bar. I looked over and there were no forks and just one spoon left in a jar. I turned around to tell him there was nothing left and he just hurried off to the kitchen. I gave up and just left before I could think of any other reasons not to come back and write a negative review on Yelp...well, when I got back to my house and opened the bag, my tikka masala container was opened and had spilled everywhere in the bag. I was at least hoping the food would taste good, but it was at best mediocre and not anywhere near as good as other Indian places I've eaten at in the area. To top things off, I had some stomach problems that night after eating the food. BTW, I also ordered the garlic naan but when I opened the foil it was just plain naan. It tasted like lukewarm soggy cardboard. Overall, it was a waste of money, food was whatever, and I physically suffered afterward. I don't doubt the other positive reviews posted on here, but this was unfortunately my first impression and it's highly unlikely I'll ever go back here. read more

Went here based on a friend's recommendation who is vegetarian. I should have know better.... This place got 2 stars because the price for the lunch buffet was so cheap. My wife and I should have turned around and walked out because there was only 1 other table in there during the lunch rush!!!! This is not a good sign and often establishments will cut corners when it comes to leaving food out a little longer than it should to save money on food cost. My wife ate here one day when we were off from work before we left for our honeymoon. It was a work day.. we got here about 20 min after the lunch buffet opened. No one else was in the restaurant. The owner (i think he was the owner?) was really nice and explained all the foods at the buffet to us. The food was all fresh and cooked fresh. It was delicious. Stumbled in here this Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. After living in Centreville for over .... well what seems like forever I finally managed to make it in here. The place was pretty darn good. We ended up getting the lunch buffet... when we were seated we didn't really get any menus and saw other people making their way back and forth to the buffet in the back so I shrugged and said let's go check it out and started piling our plates high. Sorry but I'm not familiar with specific names of the goodies but they had a wide variety available and the bread served was delicious! The Taj beer was surprisingly good too and I'd recommend it ;) I'll definitely return when my Indian food craving hits again, sucks I waited so long to try it out! read more

Ordered delivery. One shahi paneer, one butter chicken, med spicy. When the food was delivered, the proteins had clearly been swapped as we received shahi chicken and butter paneer med spicy. No big deal, I figured I'd just call them and get the mixup squared away, accidents happen. Gf doesn't eat meat and isn't a fan of spicy foods, so just swapping dishes wasn't an option. I called, explaining the situation. As soon as I explain what's going on, the employee who answered the phone immediately suggests that I might be mistaken. I let him know that no, I've had their butter chicken before, we clearly got butter paneer. What should have been a quick exchange to verify information turned into a 5 minute argument as I was challenged every time I dared to suggest they made a mistake. Hung up once it was clear I was getting nowhere so I guess he won the battle. Shame too, because the food is pretty good, when it's correct. This review applies to the lunch buffet only. The place was dead so the buffet wasn't freshly stocked at all times. General quality though was quite good. I'd say better quality than Minerva, with lighter sauces which allowed you to taste the actual vegetables and spices. Palak Paneer was much less creamy, and allowed you taste the bitterness of the spinach. Butter chicken was nowhere near as thick but enabled you to taste the flavors and the chicken and not feel overloaded with a really heavy butter-based sauce. Probably the best highlight is that they bring you a basket of fresh naan. Compared to a massive buffet pan filled with flat, luke-warm naan, having your own basket of freshly cooked naan is a substantial upgrade. And what great naan it was! Selection was somewhat lacking, though it seems the main focus of this place is on menu items. The lunch buffet was acceptable, but I'd choose the quantity and selection of Minerva over Preet Palace. I hope to come to this place again for dinner however, and order from the menu. It definitely seems that they'd likely offer up an excellent meal. read more

Pros: fresh naan, clean tables Cons: none of the food tasted Indian, instead it was tasteless. Most of the dishes taste the same because of the base tomato paste they used. The butter chicken tasted like tomato paste chicken. The paneer makhani tasted just like the "tomato paste chicken." I won't even comment on the other dishes because to summarize my review--it wasn't worth the $$$. If you aren't looking for Indian tasting Indian food, you may like this place. Me and my boyfriend ordered delivery. We ordered vegetable pakoras and they arrived literally burned to a crisp. I cannot believe that a human actually put those in the bag to be served to a customer. They were literally inedible. I had also requested a "Not Spicy" order of the Salmon Curry, and it arrived pretty darn spicy...on the hot end of medium. My boyfriend ordered the chicken tikka masala and said it was good. After a month without Indian food, a friend and I ventured over to this place for a lunch date (followed by a trip to Jo-Ann Fabrics to buy some lining for a coat). We took a moment to glance at the menu and papers posted to the front window (including a yelp sticker) and a server actually came out to ask if he could help us. We laughed a bit awkwardly and told him we were planning on having lunch there. We were given a table and I am assuming most people come here for the buffet during lunch hours (about $9) because no one had menus while we were there. When I looked over at the buffet, I was a little hesitant- I am used to huge lines of food, while this had a small portion of the room dedicated to their dishes. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised. I found a ton of familiar food that was pretty consistent with the other Indian restaurants that I've been to. My friend and I fought over samosas (the last ones I had before this came from Rangoli... and these were spicier), helped ourselves to the butter chicken (which isn't the best I've had- but not bad y any means)... I also noticed they replaced dishes as they diminished in the buffet line (around 1:30/2:00). As well as found ourselves going back for more rice. That day they also had various curries, a salad, as well as some things I couldn't identify or wasn't familiar with. Regardless, everything had labels. They also delivered FRESH, HOT naan to the table! All in all, a good deal for some tasty Indian food. I will definitely be back when my craving for Indian food returns. read more

I just ate here today. I had the lunch buffet. Not bad Indian food, but not the best I have ever had either. I did ask for some Garlic Naan which was very good. I was a little disappointed in the butter chicken from the buffet. I was hoping for white meat chicken, but it seemed to be some strange combination. It was a little disappointing because I met a friend there at 2:15 and was looking forward to chatting with her....so it was disappointing that they kick you out by 3:00 so they can close until 5 PM. I love Indian food and have eaten at many of the best NYC Indian Restaurants so my standards are pretty high. I ask people of Indian descent in Chantilly/Centreville what Indian restaurants they like and where they eat - several have mentioned Preet Palace. I ordered delivery and got a very good Indian meal delivered to my house. They asked for spice level and I ordered a range of Veg Korma (mild) to Lamb Vindaloo (Med-Hot). Rice was great, Nan was fresh and hot when it arrived (figured it would be stale but was very good). No complaints and lots of compliments. Chicken Buryani was excellent - my daughter would love it. I had an excellent experience when I placed a phone order for delivery this past weekend with Preet Palace. 1. The person who answered the phone spoke clearly and loudly in English. It was easy to place my order and there were no mistakes because she repeated everything back to me. 2. She informed me my order would be delivered in 45 mins, but it ended up taking an hour. This was not a big deal, as I called smack dab in the middle of the dinner hour on a Saturday evening, and sometimes ya just have to cut the person a break. 3. My food arrived as though it had been pulled out of the oven 5 minutes before. Even the naan was still hot 4. Best of all, the food was delicious. I have tried all the Indian restaurants in and around Centreville - Rasoi of India (too hot for my tastes), Indian Ocean (good but I prefer whichever cuisine is found at Preet Palace), and Tandoori Village (also good but didn't feel like making the hike.) I used to go to Preet Palace many years ago (as in 20+ years ago) and loved their food. Then there was a time about five+ years ago when I thought the customer service as well as the quality and flavor of the food had seriously gone downhill, so I quit going. This is my first order since then, and I'm very happy I gave them a shot. I love their food, and I plan to order from them many more happy times in the future. read more

Preet Palace needs a serious interior make over. The buffet is 8.95 and has some tasty offerings. Spice is mild it seems in the buffet dishes. I liked the taste of the tandoori chicken here. The basmati rice was oily though. The naan wash fresh and tasty. The butter chicken was okay. The desserts are lacking. They also were lacking in sauces when I went. Service is okay. Only one waiter working the whole place. But it wasn't that busy during the lunch buffet. I would go again though I have had better Indian food. read more

Been to this place a few times along with ordering delivery...I am always extremely satisfied with my food, the service in the restaurant is great, always very quiet and the servers always very attentive. It is a little hard to find in the shopping center as it is tucked away sort of between Trader Joes and the bar that is next to it. Devoted patrons for over 10 years. Staff has always been casual & friendly. Feels like home. Buffet is usually butter chicken, tandoori chicken, lamb curry, daal, palak paneer, aloo gobi, salad, raita, mixed puris & chuntney, basmati rice. Weekends you get more buffet variety as well as kheer & gulab jamun. LOVE THEIR NAAN! Dishes not on the buffet that should not be missed: chicken korma, chilly chicken, Rogan Josh, lamb vindaloo, began bhartha, palak paneer, chicken biryani Cannot say enough about how good the food is here. We arrived for lunch around 12:15 and we were the only customers in the restaurant. The waiter was polite and made sure we had plenty of water. We had the buffet which was $12. The butter chicken, lamb curry and vegetable rice was delicious along with the samosas. The red colored chutney was also delicious! The rest of the items on the buffet (salad, chicken tandoori, and red colored chicken) were dry and cold. The temperature of all of the food was barley warm but the flavor of the butter chicken, samosas and chutney were so good! I'm giving them 3 stars because of the temperature of the food on the buffet and the lack of variety. I was hoping for tikka masala since it's a signature dish and I was a little disappointed by that but I just ate more of what I did like. There is 0 customer service and the food was sub-par. The utensils were dirty -my knife had food on it. They bought the appetizers out with no sauce, after waiting 30 minutes. The host or waiter did not come back to check with us during the meal.to see if we wanted anything else. If you want authentic Indian, tasty food , sorry, but this place is not it. I went with a few friends to check this place out the other day for lunch. The food was average, nothing special compared to the various other Indian joints that are in this area. As another reviewer has mentioned, we tried to use the yelp 10% coupon for checking into the place but were told that this cannot be used for the lunch buffet. The food was nothing special and the price was a scam. The owner refused to honor my groupon and wouldn't even budge. I paid almost 75% more than I was supposed to according to my groupon. The terms stated that the Sunday buffet was $9.99 and one person was entitled to $3.00 off; instead, I paid $12.99 per person and didn't receive ANY discount. The owner just said to come back and use the groupon later. Moreover, he acted like he never knew the terms were incorrect and that groupon was in error. I was about to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I see that others have similar complaints about this restaurant not honoring their commitments. I would like to add that I spoke with the manager before eating, informed him of the Groupon, and was told that it would be accepted. This was a straight up lie. read more
