This is my second review of Preferred Air! I still think they rock! My AC died! Time for a new one. They gave us a recommendation for a unit they said the owner had installed at his own home which was thousands less than other units. It was two days before they could install, however they gave us two free loaner window units which they came and set up for us in the meantime. When they came out for the install, we needed a small drywall repair which was anticipated and they had the repairman out the same day. They followed up the next day and one week later they came to the house for a follow up visit to ensure we were up and running optimally. This company was so impressive all their team members are awesome and helpful. Many years ago with my last AC install, the company that will remain nameless left a huge drywall hole and didn't patch it or have a recommendation for us. We also had issues with their company extended warranty which they stopped servicing. They sucked! Post sale support was terrible! The online request process was straightforward and they reached out the same day to schedule a visit. I received a text when Daniel was on his way and he arrived promptly at the start of the scheduled window. Daniel really took the time to listen to what I was looking for. After checking out the house, he recommended the right mini split heat pump size, the best placement options, and suggested a few upgrades to improve efficiency and save energy. He explained everything clearly and answered all my questions without hesitation. The itemized quote was detailed and easy to understand. It included everything from the heat pump, installation (materials and electrical), attic insulation, to even a Wi-Fi adaptor so I could control the system through an app. June 6th installation was quick and smooth, and everything worked perfectly right away. The condenser unit location was inconspicuous and protected from the elements with adequate airflow access. They helped me set up the app and even built an attic enclosure over the drop down stairs. Pricing felt fair and reasonable, especially for the quality of work they delivered. During the summer peak when it was 110+ outside, I was able to keep my garage at whatever temperature I wanted, which makes it usable year round and is a game changer in Phoenix. Daniel was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and communicated really well throughout the whole process. I'd definitely recommend Preferred Air to anyone looking for an honest, skilled, and fairly priced HVAC company. I'll be using them again for any future HVAC needs. read more

The owner of this business started sending me unwanted correspondence on Facebook Messenger. I explained to him that I did not appreciate that type of intrusive advertising. He went on to tell me how he's booked out for 3 weeks, and he kept sending me more and more unwanted messages. He was a condescending prick the entire time I was asking him to leave me alone. He was extremely unprofessional, which leads me to believe that he's probably extremely untrustworthy. I would not allow him into my home to perform any type of service. read more

Daniel ghosted me. I don't know if he only works with Hispanics (was referred by a Hispanic), which I am not. He came out and appeared to be very knowledgeable and talked for quite a while about how to make our system better. He said he had about $900 worth of duct work to recommend and he educated us on the new inverter technology. We told him to give us the price for an inverter unit and ductwork. His price for the unit was $4000 more than the company we went with (he sells American Standard, we got a Trane for less), and his ductwork price was $1800. He also said he wasn't sure if the unit he wanted to sell us was eligible for the federal rebate. He asked that we wait a day for him to find out. We said OK and that was the last we heard from him. While waiting for the answer on the rebate I texted him a question about the system. He never replied to that either. read more

Ty and the crew at Preferred Air did an excellent job making improvements to a poorly performing duct system installed by another contractor. All of my concerns were addressed. The price was absolutely fair. Communication from everyone at Preferred Air was thorough and professional. Do not hesitate to reach out to this firm. If you are concerned about the trip charge -- don't be, it is well worth it. Their rate is highly competitive and of the several HVAC companies I've worked with in the area, nobody was as thorough with diagnosing the problem and coming up with pragmatic, data-based solutions. You may be able to find another firm who can come out for free, shoot out some ideas, and give you a low quote -- but I wouldn't trust that they are going to do the job right the first time or that they won't end up adding onto your invoice in order to complete the job. We had a service set up for between 10am and noon. One of the "owners" arrived at 9:21, when I was leaving for work and my husband was on a presentation work call (until about 10, go figure) and instead of offering to wait or come back later he simply left. He wanted to "reschedule" requiring another day home from work when he can't make the time HE scheduled. Why bother scheduling a time if you're 1. not going to adhere to it 2. behave like a child when someone tells you only the arranged times will work. (We could not accommodate 45 mins earlier this day. And, arranged to be available during the scheduled time.) Instead of offering to wait or come back later during the planned window, he simply left stating he had a busy day. He wanted to "reschedule" requiring another day home from work when he can't make the time HE scheduled. The owner responded to my g review with lies--beware. We quickly contacted SRP and found another provider who knows how to show up at the appointed times and is respectful that all of us have busy schedules. I've never encountered someone who felt so entitled to our work time and was dismissive of a potential customer. read more

We needed a new register/vent installed in a room in our house. They came and gave us an estimate within 24 hours of me reaching out and they got the work done a couple of days later. Preferred Air installed a new HVAC system in my house, a Bosch high-efficiency heat pump. I am very happy with it, and would recommend Preferred Air without hesitation. Their service was very professional and at a competitive price. I had several HVAC contractors give me proposals to replace my air conditioning system, a Carrier system that was almost 20 years old. Preferred Air was the one that made me most comfortable that their solution met my needs and my budget. Daniel Hernandez was an excellent project coordinator. He went through my attic in great detail and listened to what I wanted for energy efficiency and cost. He made some suggestions, like replacing some of the ductwork with larger diameter ducts, to improve the comfort and noise of my existing AC system. I did not feel like he was trying to sell me a package, but rather that he was trying to offer me solutions that worked for my needs. The attention to detail and willingness to listen to the customer (me) were aspects that set Preferred Air's service apart from others. Daniel was able to schedule work within a few weeks, and his crew did a great job to install the Bosch system, with a minimal impact to my family. The new system is very quiet --- previously it was not easy for someone to hear what I was saying when the air conditioning was on, unless I spoke up loudly or stood nearby, because of the sound of the air flowing through the ducts. TOTAL RIP OFF. Charged me $190 before arrival, I should have know better based on them charging me before they even showed up. Then a repair that should have been and additional $30-100 (fuses and capacitor) was quoted as an additional $330. Total rip-off. $520 to replace fuses and a capacitor is simply taking advantage of people! read more

I would definitely recommend working with Preferred Air. As a smaller company, the team at Preferred Air offers the personal service and support you want when making a large investment like a new AC. At the same time, they offer the organization and efficiency of a larger company. They were always on time and always professional. They worked with me to install a Bosch variable speed package AC (highly recommend!) and to upgrade some of my ductwork to improve airflow through the system. I really appreciated working with their rep, Ty, to understand what my options were and to find a solution that met my needs. Tonight our air conditioner went out when it was 110 degrees outside, I'm pregnant and cranky, and I have a one year old who is too hot to sleep. We called them and they were here in about an hour. Preferred has not once let me down and I have used them for almost 4 years. We have done a full 5-ton rooftop replacement unit with them, and the workmanship was impeccable adn they did it during a heat wave. Took care of all permiting with the crane during 115 degree summer. If your AC goes out they will stop by and get you portable units if they can to make sure you are safe. Daniel and his crew are nothing short of professional and honest, they will help outline all options for units for you and there is nothing but informed pros/cons to meet your price point. Later on I had them do the mini-split in our master bedroom which has been the greatest investment we have ever made. They are prompt with scheduling, service calls and are honest. Just today I reached out to them to see if we could get a call to look at our mini-split. Daniel arrived the same day, diagnosed the problem, and was extremely thorough. I chose Preferred Air among three A/C contractors because I was impressed with owner Daniel Hernandez's demonstrated knowledge, clear communication, low-pressure approach, competitive pricing (2nd lowest), and his honesty in scoping a project that was less complex (and costly) than I initially thought. Preferred Air replaced a 2-ton unit, repaired ductwork, added a new return, and replaced my water heater. They completed the project ahead of schedule, and they were honest about not needing to complete a portion of the invoice, reducing my cost by about $400. I liked the workflow app/software they used for billing and invoicing. Lastly, I thought they were to blame for a broken faucet in a bathroom. I contacted Daniel the day before Thanksgiving. I cannot recommend Preferred Air highly enough. My husband, newborn and I just moved into a new house and thought (perhaps foolishly) that we wanted to raise the ductwork in the kitchen, living room and hallway before we settled in. I looked on Yelp and Google and had a couple of companies come in to do an estimate. Daniel (from Preferred Air) was kind, personable and upbeat. And had a great price. Personably, he was my first choice immediately. Although he recommended that we remove all our old insulation, we thought that was cost-prohibitive and so declined. Because of the mess it would make to do the demo first (even thought that would have been the easiest for them), Daniel told us they would put all the new ducts in before we ripped out the ceiling and then come back and take all the old duct work when we were done with the demolition (that was originally supposed to be done the same day per the quote) so that the home would be cleaner for our baby. They crawled through feet of insulation in an Arizona summer to complete the work. THEN when we started the demolition we realized that he was right and we really needed to remove the insulation (let's remember this is not a review of our competency as DIYers ;) we called them back. He was responsive and made a few calls to change up his schedule so they could come in just two days later and get it all taken out for us. They were here at 6:30am and worked a full day to complete it. Kind, thoughtful and hard working with a very messy job. I've told Daniel I would buy a vertical plot in San Francisco from him at this point; he was so very right about what we needed done. We are thrilled with the thought they put into our new ductwork - they laid it out much better than the old, put in an extra return and thought about the positioning of the vents carefully, which was hard because our furniture was not yet positioned so they were constantly asking about the usage of each room. Honestly, the only negative we had was that some of the sheetrock near a return air vent got broken and needs to be repaired. But the house is old and the sheetrock is not attached frequently enough to the rafters, so that might have been entirely an issue with our house that would be hard to avoid when cutting a hole in bad sheetrock. I couldn't tell you for sure. However, back to what we love about them. Additionally, they gave me a recommendation for a sheetrocker whom we love and he, in turn, recommended an amazing electrician. To us the community of craftsmen around them speaks highly of their work. Highly, highly recommend this company. If I ever have another job up their alley, I would hire them again in an instant. read more

Daniel @ Preferred Air was recommended to us by local friends. We have two units on the house, one which needed complete replacement, as well as servicing the other one. We had 5-6 estimates from many other places but everyone wanted to sell us Trane units, and pricing was all about the same but really high in the $6500 range for replacement unit and service on existing. Daniel came out, asked a TON of questions, did a very thorough investigation of both units and gave us many options we could pick from based on price and performance. All in, we spent about $1500 less than we would have with some of the more well known or "big guys" and the service was 150% amazing. The workmanship this company does is top notch, the photograph everything when they're done, and they stand behind all the work they do. We have a very "organically grown" flat-roof house, with quite a few odd things, but Daniel and team did a great job of fixing existing deficiencies and did a really nice job on the new install on the roof. We highly recommend Preferred Air! We recently purchased a 25-year-old home in Goodyear. The home inspector said that the air conditioner needed a tune-up so we had two companies come out. Fernando of Preferred Air was recommended by a neighbor. He did a thorough job tuning it up as best he could yet didn't try to sell us a new system (like the other company did). He suggested that we might need to replace it within the year, however. His professionalism and hard work convinced us that we should go ahead and replace it before summer began. The quoted price was better than we expected for American-made products. Preferred Air is employee owned and they really take pride in their work. They installed our new cooling and heating units, redid the duct work to make it more efficient, removed the old units and ducting, and they upgraded the thermostat. We recently had Preferred Air replace both of our HVAC systems.
