I have a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. Just happen to be next door at Spray Craft getting a paint job when the owner Tom stopped in. Began talking and informed him that my dip stick broke and was interested in getting my car serviced as well. He immediately called someone to get me the part, said he'd personally come get my car when it was finished at spray craft and service it / put the dip stick in. He called me within a few days and had it all taken car of. It made it easy on me and truly appreciate the effort. I chose this place because of all the 5 star reviews. I started off with an email to schedule and express what I needed to have done. That part was great with good response time. I wanted an oil change, tune up, inspection since I have 80K mileage and a tire rotation. I have free tire rotations at Costco but decided just to pay and have it done for convenience at preferred auto care along with everything else. I dropped my car off Wednesday evening putting my key in the dropbox and marking on the envelope the services that I wanted. About 1230 on Thursday I had not heard from anybody about my car so I decided to call them and check to see how things were going. The man on the phone was quite short with me but told me the car should be ready later on that afternoon. Fine. When I came in to pick my car up the man basically just gave me the total and I asked if they found anything wrong with the inspection. He said I don't think so because he didn't tell me anything. The total was $357. I noticed on the receipt that it didn't look like the tires have been rotated when I asked about it he said he did not see that on the envelope and that he could do it but it would take about another 30 minutes and he was the only person there. I told him not to worry about it. So basically my car got an oil change and spark plugs changed but nothing else was communicated to me as far as how the vehicle is doing and my tires were not rotated. I checked that on the envelope and I had also previously emailed to address my concerns about my car. The communication is not very good at this business and I'm not sure about the price you guys can figure that part out I don't know how much spark plugs are. I ended up going to Costco that same day and got my car in and out in 30 minutes for my free tire rotation. I likely will not bring my car back to this mechanic with future problems. I don't feel like they appreciated me as a customer and communication quite frankly sucked. read more

I called for an appointment for them to check my brakes because my breaks were making a high pitched noise when I step on the brake at slow speed. A week earlier, HONDA my brake pads needed replacement. However I wanted to consult with Preferred because I wanted to consult and compare the prices. They special in Honda cars and I've brought my car there befoe. Long story short, Tom of Preferred Auto Care told me everything was fine and my brake pads can last about at least 10,000-15,000 miles more before it breaks down and since it did not need replacement, he didn't even charge me for diagnostics. I was impressed by his honesty and willing to help. I recommend this auto shop 100% for being honest and a reliable auto mechanic. I finally found one that is not all about the money. I will definitely keep going back. You should try them too. You won't be disappointed. read more

Having to take your car to the shop is never fun, but its easier when you have absolute trust in the mechanic and know that they are going to be honest, prompt, and not charge you an arm and leg. I truly can't say enough about the customer service here! They've always gotten my car in quickly, have listened to me when I said "No, I swear there is an issue even if you didn't find it the first time," and been kind enough to tell me when I can wait to get something fixed. I've been taking my cars to Preferred for over 15 years, and will continue to take my cars there. Their prices are reasonable, they do a good job, and if something isn't right, they'll make it right. I've done a lot of mechanic work myself, so I know when someone's giving me a line, and I'm comfortable having them work on my cars. They don't work on just anything that comes in the door, specializing in just a couple of brands, Honda, Toyota, and maybe one other. Call to check. Specializing makes them more efficient, and more competitive, and more reliable. What sold me as a permanent customer? Years ago they had a perfect opportunity to sell me a whole new transmission...but didn't. I never would have known better. Instead, they showed me what was wrong, explained what the options were, and saved me thousands. They may have lost a big profit job, but they've made it up by keeping a long term loyal customer and I recommend them to anyone who asks. It's hard to find a good local mechanic. Tom and company have been keeping our cars in top running condition for the past 10 years. We keep our cars for a long time and I credit Preferred with making sure my 23 year old Hermes the Happy Honda Accord never had a problem. We gave Hermes away 5 years ago and that car is still running beautifully and serving his new owners well. I took my CRV in today for an oil change. Tom called me and asked where we got our tires. "Why Tom" I asked. "Because, you should have them rotated". he said. That's the kind of detail and service you get when you go to Preferred. Prices are always reasonable. If a problem is found there are no surprises. You are always informed. In life it's important to have a great doctor, a great lawyer, and a great accountant who will keep you healthy and look after your best interests. This review is long over due. I have taken all of my Toyotas and Hondas to Tom's shop, Preferred Auto, for about 20 years or more. I have recommended this business to tons of friends and co-workers. Tom is great. His mechanics are great and I have been happy with every service on my vehicles. Professional and trustworthy shop. It's much less expensive to have our cars serviced here than to take it to the dealer. Most recently we had to take our 4-Runner to the Toyota dealership for a recall. They told us we needed a new water pump. No, we didn't need a new pump. We got our car checked out by Preferred Auto and Tom advised that we could go another 60,000 miles or more before it would need to be replaced. Love this business. Can't say enough nice things about Tom and his business. I have taken my cars here for all of the required maintenance. This business rocks! read more

I have been taking my Honda's to this place for many years now. I started with my first Honda back in the early 2000's and continued with three Honda's after that. You can not find a better more trustworthy place than here. The Honda dealership quoted me almost $800 for a 60,000 mile service on a 2010 CRV and Preferred only charged me around $350. That is HUGE for a single mom like me who watches every dollar. Plus they were great about getting me in quickly and were finished within a few hours. I highly recommend their place if you have a Honda or a Toyota. I am not sure if they service American made cars. read more

I have a '98 Acura that I bought new in August of '98. I've been relying on Tom from the beginning for all maintenance and oil changes, putting on new tires, etc. Tom specializes in Acura, which is how I found him. What keeps me coming back is his integrity. He makes all customer calls himself and prides his business on doing right by the customer. My car is done the same day I bring it in and I have never had to worry about taking it back in because something wasn't right mechanically. When it's time to get a new car, it'll be another Acura so I can bring it to Tom. read more

Tom and the crew at Perferred Auto Care are my go to shop for all things big and small with my Toyota. They specialize in Toyota, Honda, Lexus, Acura, and Subaru vehicles and know their requirements well. I have had them perform basic oil changes and more advanced work to new struts and fixing a power steering leak. Recently I was on a long trip and the wheel bearing went bad very quickly and they were able to squeeze me in that next day even though I didn't have an appointment. These guys are good, so for routine maintenance you will most likely need to make an appointment, but they also have helped me out when something has failed and needs immediate attention. read more
