We had preferred Choice come to our house about three months ago to fix a leak from an upstairs toilet. First they send out these two young guys who looked like dears in the head lights cut the ceiling drywall away looked around and decided they didn't know where the leak was coming from so they put fans and plastic in the area and were going to leave it at that. A few days later the insurance guy comes in looks around asks what is upstairs above the leaking ceiling goes up takes measurements and definitively says the leak is coming from the toilet upstairs. Meanwhile the 1st two guys from DC restoration that came never even looked in that bathroom! So they come back and demo the bathroom Meanwhile while doing that caused more water to come leaking through another spot of the downstairs ceiling and eventually another spot had to be cut out. Meanwhile nobody ever returned calls and I spoke directly multiple times with apparently one of the owners Sarah who was completely useless!!!! She would say she would do this or that and never followed through or returned calls. Each time I would speak to her she would pretend we were speaking for the 1st time. Then at one i was speaking to Sarah and the other owner and both were very unprofessional and quite frankly in over their heads. Then at the end they wouldn't do the repair and cost us months of down time while we are trying to sell the home. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!! Terrible professionalism Terrible customer service and unqualified workers. Please stay clear of this business if you want a job done right or for that matter even done period!!! We hired Preferred Choice to fix a shower leak which they absolutely did an amazing job with. Then Jeff and his reconstruction crew took over afterwards to finish the job. Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting it to take so long, but I guess that's the timeline, 4-6 weeks to complete the job. I would have given them 5 stars as Jeff stayed in constant communication which I liked. Nothing worse than being in the dark with the whole process not knowing where they're at and what's going on. So kudos to Jeff for taking the time to update me with the projects progress. The first guy who painted the closet (the leak partially damaged the closet) got paint on a few of my husbands clothing which thankfully came off after Jeff offered to get them dry cleaned and fronted the cost. The following day, he sent another guy to redo the job and AJ did an amazing job, both with the closet and the bathroom. It really took the edge off of what had previously transpired. He was very meticulous, too, and gave attention to detail. Jeff even came by afterwards to make sure that everything was perfectly completed. He even replaced the shower bars got paint on them too! He went and bought two new ones :) At the end of this project, I'd say they went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the end result which we are. One month later the company requested another amount that was not clarified at time of service. This company contacted me after my water heater leaked. They were contacted by the plumber who came out for the water heater. I should have done some research but since they were recommended by a reputable plumbing company I went with them. I was also overwhelmed after coming home to this leak and damage. When they came to assess they told me where it had leaked in the garage the baseboards were buckling and they needed to remove them. He came in the house and checked the closet. The walls were also wet. He said he would have to remove the baseboards in both places. I had no idea that they would just tear up my baseboards and leave gaping holes in the closet walls. To me this was unacceptable. I at least expected that they would take care in removing them and not just rip them from the walls. I don't even believe the indoor ones needed to be removed because there was no buckling. They were not wet on the outside. It maybe made it easier for them but it was totally unnecessary to destroy this part of my home. I have not had experience with a restoration company before this. I plan on doing some research to find out if other restoration companies work in this manner. I will be more prepared if I ever need this kind of service again. They said they have a division in their company that does the repairs. They charge their own fees separate from the ones who did the damage. Very convenient. Their cabinet guy broke 2 doors and then proceeded to harass me because preferred choice would not pay him. They perform exactly how they informed us. The only delays were caused by our insurance company which was of no fault of the folks at Preferred Choice. We drove from L.A. to Arizona to clean out my mom's house prior to selling it. Upon arrival, we found a small amount of water by the furnace in the garage. Unfortunately, the leak had caused the flooring in the dining room to lift up. We were referred to Preferred Choice Restoration. The owner, Sarah, attended to the matter immediately, sending technicians to the house within two hours. Steve & Jim did a great job of removing part of the wall, removing the flooring and setting fans up to dry out the water damage. They mitigated all damage that needed attention. There was a hole cut in the dining room wall that we didn't want our cats getting in to, so Steve and Jim covered two large entry ways with plastic. On December 1, 2020, I hired Preferred Choice Restoration to repair and rebuild my shower. They were very quick to demand payment, which they received, but then abandoned the project by either not answering my calls or responding with excuses about why they couldn't continue the job. Their subcontractor also had an excuse each time he cancelled an appointment to finish the shower. This company was recommended by the company that installed our water heater, after that heater failed within the warranty period and soaked part of the garage. They quickly came out to perform the demolition, then left everything to dry out, which left a significant portion of our house exposed to the Phoenix summer. After a few days they declared everything dried enough to begin renovation. Our insurance contacted us to let us know the restoration company had not provided them with photographs or an estimate. This led to nearly a week of trying to get someone out to document the damage. After these photos were taken, it took another three days before they submitted everything to the insurance. Finally, insurance approved the work. It took another week before someone came out to actually do the repairs. All this time the house was exposed to the outside air, leaving the affected rooms closed off and inaccessible for three weeks, while the air conditioning struggled to keep up despite shoving towels under the doors. I ended up taking time off of work to do the job myself, but was contacted two days beforehand that someone was being sent out. After the repair specialist left, I determined they had not textured part of one wall, failed to patch one area, and neglected to paint several areas. I was also charged for several work items that were not done and not needed. I ended up having to finish this job myself to complete the repair. Ultimately the work was completed, despite the over charges, and things are roughly back to normal, so I cannot give them one star. However, I would encourage you to find another restoration company for your needs. read more

We had a sewer back up in our guest bathroom.Noah came out took a look asked me who our insurance company was we even called the insurance company to place a claim. I asked Noah lseveral times since insurance company was closed on a Saturday shouldn't we wait until we're 100 % sure everything will be covered. He told me & my husband no it didn't matter what the water damage was from insurance will pay. He even had the script down made the statement with Covid insurance company usually dont send out adjuster especially with really good pictures showing the damage. Again I asked Noah I think we should wait until we're 100 % sure about insurance.noah stated we couldn't wait since it was sewer water the longer we wait the more damage & it could make us sick. Preferred choice was recommended to me by Sun City Mechanical. This restoration company worked with the plumber, and also my insurance company. I had major damage from a bad leak under my sink. Preferred choice replaced the vanity wood cabinet, marble countertop, fixed and replaced drywall. Removed and put back the toilet. Painted the entire bathroom walls and ceiling. The insurance covered the majority of it, however I did purchase new Fossett handles. Good job went well. I would recommend preferred choice. All of the work crew knew each line of expertise they were assigned to from drywall to cabinetry, painting, and update plumbing. I would recommend preferred choice. This company was recommended by one of these places that recommend services...cant remember which one. This guy came out within a couple of hours (should have been a clue). He had no idea why we had a musty smell in one of our bedrooms. Plus ..we had to tell him what he probably needed to do. The worst part was he barely spoke english...I could not understand him. He could not answer any questions...all he wanted was money. It was 75$ just to come out and he went up in the attic ...he did not want to but we insisted. Then he said he saw no mold...we think that is what he said. Then he charged us 275$ for an air quality inspection. I asked him if it showed mold.how would they treat. We never got an answer. It was one of the worst experiences with a contract co I have ever had. We received a report and once again we got this person who we could never understand again. Stay way from this company they are there to rip you off and not solve your problem. They come up with something and charge you again and again. read more

I don't think I'm a picky customer but maybe I am. I fired my original restoration company because they were not responsive to my needs. I was already sour on all restoration companies when I called Preferred Choice, but I am super glad that I did call them. They (Preferred Choice and their partner Power House Construction) were extremely responsive. The day after I called I already was being visited by their loss estimator who not only assessed the loss I had, but gave me a copy to give my insurance company the same day. This is exactly what I had been trying to get my previous restoration company to do for at least 7 weeks. I won't disclose who they were but their name rhymes with 'Padams Pisaster and Pecovery'. The general contractor of Preferred Choice is Power House Construction and started work on my place immediately -which was a huge project. I was out in a hotel for at least 5 months while repairs were being done and Power House brought in all kinds of experts and specialists for the specific tasks needed. I had special floor tile so I needed tile experts. I had special plumbing needs so I needed plumbing experts to problem solve. I want to stress that my restoration project demanded a lot of attention from various construction groups and Prefered Choice/Power House delivered beyond what was needed. I felt very lucky to be with them. Prior to my loss (septic backup throughout house) I was renovating and they helped me figure out how to strategically combine my renovation with my restoration while within the allowances of insurance coverage.
