I'm pretty satisfied with the bathroom model. I bought my own material and paid PC for the labor, which was around $6.5k for a standard shower size. They were great about bringing me into the loop during the project, asking me questions about how high I wanted things, the size of the shelving, etc. I would give a 4.5 star rating because at times it was difficult to communicate for payment. You can pay via check or online payments with a service fee. We were able to figure it out in the end, but that part could've gone more smoothly. Overall, I'd hire them again! read more

We started our bathroom remodeling due to a leak in September 2022, completed November 2022. The insurance company wanted 4 estimates, and they were all over the place low balled to extremely high, with all kinds of promises. Preferred Construction was right in the middle and the estimator/salesperson Angel is truly amazing. We liked him from the minute we met him, you just know when it just feels right!! We were torn between two companies, but Angel's professionalism and willingness to help was so genuine we wanted someone like him to help us with our remodel. Angel was willing to support us with the insurance company where the other companies were not. He was knowledgeable, helpful, kind, respectful and always answered his phone, WOW. He negotiated with the insurance company and never once dropped the ball; he was truly there from beginning to end. We cannot thank him enough. I feel like he's family. Moving right along, yes, we are signing the contract to begin. Angel, Carlos (project manager) and Moises show up to discuss the job. I ask when they will start the reply is next week, I am so pleased I thought it would be longer, I received a call later that day asking if they can begin demolition the following day, YES SIR. Moises and his team come to the house and the demolition begins, Moises is amazing, very forthcoming, and informative. Communication was on point with everyone Carlos visits during the job to make sure things are going smoothly. Carlos is also very caring, and you just know he wants it to be perfect, which is awesome, kudos to a Project Manager that manages his jobs perfectly. The demo is done and time for the tile work, Mario is superb, well skilled in tile work, uses levels on the walls and answers all my questions and I never ever felt rushed, even with all the work he had to do. He was here for 5 days, he is truly meticulous, it must be perfect, when he put the floor down in the shower, I changed my mind on the grout color, he was so concerned that I would not like it, I loved it and so glad I chose to change colors. Mario honestly is caring as if it were his own shower, he would share in our joy once a wall was completed and share that he likes it as well, so personable, knowledgeable, and clean too! I'm sure I'm not going to be able to say enough positive about Preferred Construction. From the time the sales person, Angel, came to bid the job to the time the project manager, Roberto, came to look at the job, we knew we were going to be well taken care of by Preferred. Now a days we do not see businesses philosophies where the customer service is up front and foremost. Not only were the sales and project managers very nice and knowledgeable they considered us their main focus. We were important as were our questions and our what ifs or what are the possibilities questions/thoughts. I suppose the best way to describe this service oriented company is that they made everything easy, yes everything. Then top that off with nice people, and that makes for a winning combination. Every craftsman that worked here was more than nice, they were friendly and concerned about their work and making us happy with what they did. Hiring craftsman obviously defines the hiring practices of the owners of Preferred Construction. Roberto, the project manager exceeds craftsman qualities. When there was a question everyone of the workers, said, "Call Roberto, he will know." Not only does he know, his craftsmen respect him and his knowledge and his abilities. We were not in the state during most of the remodel. Roberto also excelled at keeping us apprised of the progress by calling to let us know and backed that up with photos of how things were looking. His communication skills are exemplary. In finishing, I know I fell short explaining our extreme satisfaction, and happiness with our totally new kitchen. When I decided to have my hall bath remodeled I contacted Home Advisor and they sent me a list of very good contractors. I did due diligence and interviewed 6 companies. I chose Preferred Construction and am so happy that I did. Angel assisted my son and myself choose the materials I would need to provide, which did not include the materials they provided and were included in the cost estimate. They were actually able to start the project as their tile setter had just finished a job. Carlos and his crew did the tear down and prep work and Marcos and his wife/helper did the tile. They did everything perfectly and even worked extra hours in order to make everything just right. Then Carlos finished the electrical and plumbing and finish work. The bathroom turned out better than I could have hoped for and I would recommend this company to anyone. read more

So I contacted this business to obviously obtain an estimate for a kitchen backsplash to be redone, a range hood to be remounted, bathroom backsplash to be redone, crown molding to be installed in the bathroom, and finally my pantry doors to be possibly swapped out. Pretty straight forward as we knew right off the bat what tile we wanted, trim we wanted, and etc. Needless to say I made an appointment and on Thursday, September, 30th, at 3:00pm. Angel showed up on time and I showed him all the areas and I was told he would have an estimate prepared for me by the weekend either Saturday or Sunday. Well both days arrived and nothing. When Monday hit I sent a text asking Angel if he was going to send an estimate and he never replied, but he read the text as it showed he did open it. On Monday, October, 11th, at 10:08 a.m, I called their main office and spoke with a Receptionist named Rosie and explained to her about the missing estimate and she placed me on hold to call Angel and see what happened. Left on hold for 10 minutes and when Rosie came back on the line she explained that Angel would get with his assistant and get allot of the late proposals done by today and I should get mine by tonight and if not to call back. Honestly my belief is really truly simplistic, their business time is valuable, their time is valuable, and my time should be treated the same. I do not like wasting anyone's time and I honestly would expect the same treatment from them towards me and my wife. After waiting and still no estimate and instead of calling them and asking them again I will gladly pass. I never had to constantly call someone to receive a basic estimate to possibly hire them for the job needed. I also out of respect checked my spam folder as some emails do go there and again nothing. I even went as far as checking my mailbox for a possible old school way of sending an estimate and again nothing. Never received and didn't hear back from him. Met with 4 other companies and decided on one of them to complete the job. Bad service and responsiveness. I also have a video door bell ringer so it records every time it senses someone or someone rings the bell and so no technician ever came by the house. I have worked with this company before and their quality has gone down. I hired them to do a roll in shower and they ruined my $1200 worth of marble tile for the flooring of the shower. They did not use spacers in between the tiles and said that was normal. The shower flooring was an even and not smooth. We were out money for our supplies they ruined, but we canceled the contract anyway. there's already quality issues with the previous job. They did with us widening doors for they did not use finishing nails, so I have divots all over my frames. read more

This company is terrible. Nothing was done on time, communication horrific, no one ever checks on the workers or progress of completion, they had to redo everything they touched three times or more. I had plumbing issues after everything they touched leaks everywhere(they continue to this day 4 years later), installed faucets and valves wrong, folks believe me a complete nightmare. Don't put yourself through the pain of dealing with their terrible work. they put new flooring in my house removed my dryer and NEVER hooked my dryer vent back up inside the wall, all my lint for 6 months was blowing under my stairwell for 6 months until I noticed it. they could not even install a faucet and the two water control valves right on any of the 4 faucets they installed. I hired Preferred Construction less then a year ago. The original work on my custom bathroom was great. A few months ago, within the one year warranty, we discovered massive leaks coming from the floor/pan. We called them and they were pretty good about responding to the problem. Now six weeks, SIX weeks into the problem we are sitting with a torn up bathroom. During the demo they sent someone to gently bring down my custom 2k shower glass... guess what. Bamm broke that too. WTF. We are constantly told oh so and so will be there in the am. Soo and Soo doesnt show. Meanwhile I have to take time off of work which means more money out of my pocket. (Never mind the 20k plus for the original bathroom.) The best part is I will call them and demand to speak with the owner and am immediately told he is not available. I then ask how about a supervisor and am told oh Carlos or someone will call you back. Do I get a call back.. yes but it is generally some lackey that had no idea what is going on. So today after some begging. They finally sent someone to demo.... and look more water damage. More and more time out of my day. I have to add that after my negative review the owner sent me the word "troll" over 50 times in one post. Very juvenile. Also noticed other similar negative post. So if you have a negative experience with this company you will definitely get mail back from them accusing you of being a troll. Very hysterical. He later says I never contacted his office. Your electrician was the last person to work under the sink cabinet when he connected the electrical cord that preferred forget to connect when they installed the garbage disposal. The base of the cabinet was so flimsy, it was not glued and only held together with one staple. We paid a qualified contractor to make the proper repair and it is fixed now. The cabinet door that would not open completely had to be cut down because your unqualified cabinet installer failed to account for the size of the cabinet, after Preferred changed cabinet companies without contacting us first. That potential client was not using foul language and your customer service was being rude and not letting your potential client finish her sentence and as you indicated to her that you have your calls recorded without even asking or informing your client that all calls are recorded. 0. We do respect and understand that emergency situation arise, trust me I'm in the medical field and we see it all the time. 0. I'm not trying to tell you how to run your business but knowing that you have an employee calling off and knowing that person has an appointment scheduled, all we are asking is a courtesy call. We waited and waited only to find out that you guys weren't showing up until we your client made the initiative to call your company. You guys should value our time as much as we value your time by giving your potential client a courtesy call. She had to take the time off because you guys "confirmed" that you will be there at a specific time which she was there and waited. Again poor business on your end. read more

DISHONEST CRIMINALS! STAY AWAY! Delay after delay, then cancelled our job but failed to refund whole deposit.

The guy we signed the contract with and gave the deposit to ended up getting fired. We didn't know this and found out when that guy wrote us a letter wanting to testify for him in court. The month after we gave them our deposit we hadn't heard from them at all, we were sure we had gotten scammed. This was the beginning of us having to call and ask them what was going on. There was nothing about their schedule that was consistent. They didn't come at the times they were supposed to and we were left wondering if they were coming back and when, we would have to reach out and ask. They measured our bathroom twice and somehow still measured wrong and added 2 cut pieces of sentral on the front of our bathtub that was supposed to be 1 piece and left a huge gap between the two and to patch it up they put a bulky molding over it that's completely crooked. When I first asked why this had happened, Carlos told me it was because the guy that had gotten fired screwed up measurements. The second time I asked he had told me it's because our bathtub is "off center" instead of just admitting they messed up. I was starting to lose patience with everything so I had started to call Carlos to let him know I was unhappy with everything from the quality of work to the customer service and he said he'd call me back and he never did. The few times after that I called him and had to leave a voicemail and never got called back. This is just a little bit of how inconsiderate they were with us. Especially inconsiderate to the fact that we had a newborn in the house and they had me waking him up at 8 in the morning (after being up all night with him) to wait downstairs with him so they can show up whenever was convenient for them. One of the guys even came later than he was supposed to and I fell asleep with my son. He commented on my appearance when I had opened the door and said, "did you just wake up?!" and laughed. It had gotten to the point where we couldn't leave the house because we didn't not want to be here if they showed up and when we did leave we were asked if we can come home for them to do their job. They used our bedroom toilet, which is completely fine but they left the seat up each time. They left a huge garbage bag of trash sitting in our bathtub for about a week, empty water bottles and torn up shirts on our floor that my husband had to gather and throw away himself. Everything was done BUT our shower, the main reason we called them in the first place and I had grown impatient so I called Carlos. Then a guy comes to measure our shower and we had to wait for that material! A week later they came and installed the glass and I was relieved that they were going to be done and we can get back to our normal routine but the guy doing the shower comes downstairs and tells me it's done but they forgot our shower handle. I asked him when they would be back and he said, "can we text you?". 4pm rolls around and still no text. We had to call them (again) and ask what was going on. The guy didn't want to come all the way back across town for a shower handle. I called Carlos and no answer but I made sure to leave a message about it. The guy then calls us a little after 6pm wanting to bring it. Finally they "finished" the job and we noticed the whole inside of the shower wasn't even caulked!! It's a good thing my husband noticed it because I was going to shower in it. They had to come back and caulk the shower and (for reasons unknown) they started painting around the shower with paint that now doesn't match what we had originally that was fine the way it was. The next day the two pieces of glass that enclose the shower came completely apart!! My husband tried to fix it so they wouldn't come back and Carlos tried blaming us (again) that we used the wrong caulking, that's why it came apart. That they use a "special" kind of caulking. He had missed that his special caulking is what came apart in the first place. So the guys come back and fix the shower doors and we stood there and watched them the whole time to monitor that they actually did it correctly before they left. Before they were even done, Carlos called one of the men and told him to ask us for the check! This company didn't care about how good of a job they did for us, they weren't careful to make sure this would last us a long time and it was evident we were not top priority. They had different men come in for different jobs and it seemed there was no communication whatsoever between anybody in the company and eventually Jason (the VP) told me they weren't even aware I had just had a baby even though this was the first thing I had mentioned to Carlos. If it was any of them the quality of work for the amount of money would not be acceptable if it was their home. The material they used was like a slab of plastic they had glued onto our tub and shower which they left the original tile under and glued on top of it. read more

Cutting a high counter, removing and installing new Countertops, new sink, new faucet, adding cabinet handles, recessed lighting and new backsplash were installed in a week. I liked this company because they were professional, on time and communicative. They answered every question in regards to the process and during the process that I had. I couldn't believe that they were consistently on time if not earlier than expected. The work that was done was completed with such detail. One of the best things in this company besides hiring diligent and efficient workers, they can do everything. They have a team that demos, deals with electrical, plumbing and installing the countertops and backsplash. The price was reasonable and also how the process of payment was which were 4 installments ranging in percentage. It was great to have this company renovate my home. I am in love with my kitchen! Preferred gets 3 stars because Ricardo and his crew did a really great job at our house but they lose stars purely because of the communication problems we experienced before the work started and towards the end of our project. We had 2 bathrooms completely remodeled and new flooring laid in 2 bedrooms and one office. The work the crew did was beautiful and we do not have any complaints about that. The floors turned out great, the cabinets and countertops look great, and our shower tile is absolutely beautiful. However, we experienced communication problems with this company. When we got our bid, it included painting in our project. That is the bid that we agreed to and signed off on. But then Carlos, one of the managers, came out and said they couldn't include everything at the price we already agreed to. As that was unacceptable, before our project started, I attempted to call Carlos to speak about him about changing our bid. Over 3 weeks, I called the office 3-4 times, left messages and never got a call back. Finally I called his cell phone. He just "forgot" to call back, despite the multiple messages left for him. When I spoke with him, he said that he had made a decision a week ago to give us everything in the original bid - but he just "forgot" to call and communicate that with us. Once the project started, we never heard from Carlos again even though he made it out that he was in charge. The other 2 guys in charge of our project were Frank and Ricardo. Frank was the project manager who came to the house from time to time. Ricardo was at the house during most of the project, and Ricardo was the one who seemed actually in charge of the work and communicated with us the most - and for that we are thankful. When the project started, everything was really great at first. Ricardo's team worked so quickly and did really great work. Our original time estimate was 4 weeks and after the first week, Ricardo told us the project would actually be done in 2 and a half weeks. Then, 3 weeks into the project, when there was very little left to do, all of a sudden we hit an unexplainable roadblock. At that point, all that was really left was painting 2 small bathrooms, installing some hardware and faucets, fixing a little bit of tile, and installing baseboards in the 2 small bathrooms. But at that point, even though all the necessary materials were already at our home and ready to go, it felt like they stopped working. There were a couple of days where no one would come to the house. And when they did, they would seemingly get nothing done or just do one thing - like take 8 hours to paint said 2 small bathrooms (when they took 2 hours to paint a room 3 times that size). After days of very little getting accomplished, it took several phone calls to Ricardo and Frank to get them out here to get the job finished, which thankfully got finished in the 4 week time frame - but could have been done in 3. There was so little communication with us at the end - they didn't tell us why they slowed down the work and wouldn't tell us when they would be done. They also had internal communication issues: Ricardo blamed the lack of work on Frank - saying that Frank overbooked the team and wasn't scheduling them to come to our project; Frank blamed Ricardo - saying that Ricardo and his team worked slow. We don't know who to believe and we honestly don't care. We expressed that the most important thing to us was good communication and keeping us updated every step of the way - which they failed to do at the end of our project. read more

I also had a water treatment system installed and the price for both installations was the same for just a water heater. Both installations were done in under 90 minutes, very professionally.
