Side panel - clearly a nail breaching the panel

According to my contractor, Acquired Home Remodeling, LLC dba or fka Acquired Designs and Remodeling, owned by Phillip Brown, used this company as a subcontractor for the bathroom cabinets and installation. I had these installed about 1.5 years ago. There were issues right off the bat with this company, but in the spirit of trying to be flexible and understanding and get the remodel completed, we worked through those ... Fast forward to the first of June 2025 (about 1.5 years after original install) I noticed a clear defect in the cabinets. I called and spoke to a very polite and professional gentleman at NuLook as my contractor told me I had to call them directly to get any resolve. Unfortunately, the answer I received was that all labor and materials were warrantied for 1 year only. Warning any of you considering buying cabinets from this company. Their product, or at least the product purchased from them by my contractor is no good - and it is warrantied for one year - installation, I understand, but for the actual cabinets, it doesn't make sense unless it's a crap product, which apparently is what I have installed in my expensive bathroom remodel ... and these are in a bathroom that is rarely used. Extremely disappointed with my contractor as well as this company. The pics are of the two areas that are compromised.... the side panel, which is right at eye level has a clear nail mark ... the nail has breached the side panel. The drawer front has an odd crack right at the seam where the shaker part is. I actually noticed that over a year ago but let it go as it wasn't right at eye level. ***Don't make the mistake I made***Report all defects and issues IMMEDIATELY or you will be stuck, like I am, until I can have these poorly constructed cabinets replaced*** Please note - I don't like to post negative reviews (see the reviews I have posted - I try to only post positive reviews). However, when a product or service is really bad, I will post a negative review hoping to help others.

Installers consuming cannabis on site during a project hired by NuLook Flooring. Manny confirmed his installers were responsible.

Used them several times before without too many issues, mainly small fixes and touch ups or minor details that were missed...however on this install they left a few articles behind, ( refer to photos), I can also attach the text conversation that was had with Manny the manager. If you do decide to hire them make sure there is always someone there to oversee the work because this is what happens when people are unsupervised.

This review is overdue. I was holding off on writing it hoping someone would return the dozen calls, emails to Manny, Shannon and Apollo. I blamed my busy schedule for not being more aggressive. But I finally had one of the bigger issues resolved by another company and after spending 4 digits to do so here it is! I hired Nulook in August 2021 to do some remodeling. I had a couple of better quotes but I loved their concept...pick everything at their shop, pay one price and they coordinate it all. First red flag should have been the pay schedule. They wanted 50% up front to order everything, 25% to start work and 25% to finish. So they had 75% of my money before ever coming out. I learned later that is not the norm. Also speaks to a lack of motivation as the project took 2 months longer than expected with a crew coming out mostly one day a week. The tile installer went MIA midway through so they had to get someone else to complete it and then they ran out of tile and had to wait while more was ordered so apparently that wasn't measured correctly beforehand. We move in and slowly start seeing lots of imperfections. A lot of sloppy paintwork, discoloration of ALL grout both in flooring and in fireplace. Tiles with chips in them that were GLUED back on. Paint was dumped in our rocks and bushes, killing a section of bushes that we had to pull out. Cabinet shelving was bowed and most cabinets are not lined up cleanly. They also painted all of the outlet and light cover switches down which has been fun when we've needed to work on them. On top of that we were missing a 6 foot level, a utility step ladder, a push broom and dustpan and a 50 foot outdoor extension cord. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that they were mistakenly taken but I now think that the crew saw a vacant home as an opportunity to help themselves because 5 items is overly suspect. After 8 months of reaching out inconsistently (again I blamed myself but this business does not return messages after the first or second call which would have been helpful) I was finally able to get them back out and they addressed 90% of the paint issues while making a couple more messes but whatever, I was just happy they showed. At that appt I was told new shelves would be ordered and they would schedule another visit to bring them and they would paint the grout lines and knock out the rest of the issues. Thats the appt I never got. So stuck with bowed shelving, uneven cabinetry and uneven grout color among other issues. These workers take no pride in their work or are just not skilled enough for the job they are doing. We had a loose electrical outlet on our island and so I asked that be repaired on the return visit. They caulked it. So now I have a loose outlet with cracked caulking around it. We also had some flooding from our kitchen sink due to a too short pipe in the drain line which I also paid a plumber to repair. Weve had issues with our carpets wrinkling and also some weird gaps in the padding. I hired a company to stretch the carpet and he believes they knee kicked it instead of power stretching. But pulling the carpet up to address the gaps...they never glued the padding down! So it moved when they stretched the carpet. Not to mention the padding is a modge podge of different colors like they used remnants from other jobs. Which brings up another issue I had. I had requested an upgraded Mohawk padding. I remember it was pink for Susan B Komen and Manny explained it was stain resistant, cushy and durable, perfect for a messy toddler. But when I walked on the carpet when the job was complete I noticed it did not feel cushy. Manny had no recollection of me wanting the upgraded padding so I ended up with a basic padding. However when I asked if it was at least stain resistant he said it was. After seeing it I now know that was a lie. It is as basic as it gets according to the new installer. He also said the carpet seams were not done correctly as we have very visible seams. Not even 2 years later the carpet is starting to show considerable wear and idk if its bc of the terrible padding or if we got suckered on terrible carpet as well. I kick myself for not being more diligent in asking qs and double checking what was going on but this was my first remodel. I put so much trust in Nulook and feel like they don't care enough to make things right or dont have the skilled manpower to have things done right the first time. The only thing I think came out amazing was the countertops but again the workers did not excercise care and cover them while working. We would come by after they had left to all of the tools and equipment on them so no surprise finding a couple of gouges in the gorgeous quartz. I will never recommend this company to anyone or my clients. Which is sad considering I was so excited at the beginning of this all I sent them 3 client in the first month. I have so much more I could say but think I got the major points covered.

Do yourself a favor and go with Nulook Floor!! From start to finish, Shannon and the entire team were helpful, kind and excellent! The most incredible thing was the price was also great! (PS...I was referred by someone at a large store who said to "go with Nulook" LOL)

First off, I'd like to start by saying that I read all of the Yelp reviews before hiring Nulook. I was a little wary due to some of what people had to say but a friend of mine had used them on a couple of their home renovations and swore by their work. Once we began to go back and forth with the estimate and scheduling I could understand some people's issues with their customer service, specifically just one person in the front office. However, halfway through our renovation, I learned that she is no longer with the company which should alleviate a lot of concerns other people have had. Now onto the actual job. The pricing was extremely fair as they were able to come under all of the other quotes that we received. Once we started work, I'm not going to say that we didn't run into a few hiccups and delays but that is to be expected with any home renovation. What stood out to me was working with the project manager, Louis. Louis comes with years of experience in construction and it really showed in the way that he handled his crew and us as clients. He was always available to speak to us, day or night, weekday or weekend. Anytime there was anything we were slightly unhappy with or unsure about he was quick to find a solution to make us happy and make sure the completed job was "perfect". And he delivered each time. He never made us feel like we were asking too much and was always happy to accommodate. The end result was exactly what we wanted and more. Their work was beautiful and we are extremely happy with our home. I am giving this company 5 stars because even with a couple of hiccups and delays along the way, we were never concerned about how the end product would look and Louis' dedication to making sure we got everything we asked for. I will definitely be returning again in the future for our next big project.

White shaker cabinets, quartz counters and laminate flooring.

We worked with Manny on our flooring and kitchen remodel. He is very knowledgeable and professional. We had flooring already purchased and were short one box. He took care of ordering same product for us and was very responsive. We absolutely love how everything turned out. We will be using Nulook again to finish the rest of our flooring throughout our house. If you want an honest company that works with your budget, they are the best!

    6x36 long tiles and fireplace

This place came as a referral from a friend. I was hesitant at first after reading some of the reviews. The work done was phenomenal. My tiles were the super long ones and the other contractors even told me they are not comfortable with it as they break easily. They were completely level and the grout was perfect. (My brother's brand new home's tiles aren't even as nice.) I was able to rent out my house $200 more than my neighbor's because of the renovations. Here's the reason why I took a star off: The installer ended up MIA for 3 days and did not finish as scheduled. It almost gave me a heart attack because I just did not know if he was gonna show up. I had to call daily to follow up. Eventually Manny took care of the project and the issues with the installer for me. He was giving me an update by the end of each work day so we know what was going on.

Pictures say it all. Counter top came with a piece foreign material in it. Didn't replace that section instead he drills a hole to remove. And the faucets are off set. Dozens of visits and phone calls. NOTHING!

Apollo's guys were always right on time. They're a hard working bunch that rolled in, demo'd the old floor and baseboards and started putting the new floor down. I can positively recommend apollo's business to you. Thanks for the new floor,,, happy wife, happy home.

    Black Quartz looks great!

They did a very professional job on our kitchen counter. The job was finished within 2 weeks of first contact and a very reasonable price. They had a very nice sink and faucet ready in-stock at a fair price. We were going to proceed with a bathroom remodel with them, but our house sold before it started.

Great service and communication. Thank you Shannon, Manny and Apollo. The initial estimates were all done via email with dimensions I provided, followed up with a home visit to verify dimensions. The actual quote came in less than the email estimate after the dimensions were verified! Scheduling and install were all on time and the install was fast and professional. I would recommend this place to my friends and family. I'll be needing another flooring upgrade upstairs in the near future so I'll be calling these guys again.

Any visible damage was mostly contained within kitchen area. I looked up local companies on Yelp and decided to get a free quote from Independent Restoration Services. They came out the next day to check out the place, provided a quote within a few hours, and were then able to start the next day after obtaining work authorization. I placed my trust in them based on their reviews across Yelp, Google, and FB. At first I was a bet skeptical due to only one person making it out on the first day, which was due to a combination of scheduling issues , others being called onto different sites/projects, and overall just being a small team. But in the end they still finished on schedule as initially estimated, despite having less manpower than I had expected. They were thorough with the restoration - my place was just as clean as before, and in some places even cleaner. They kept me assured throughout the whole process and answered any questions and concerns I had. There was a misunderstanding on my end where I thought they would also clean the air ducts, but since that is not something they provide, they offered to go 50/50 on subcontracting a duct cleaner. And at the end, they agreed the initial quoted estimated cost seemed a bit too high, so they were willing to adjust the final bill downwards. Overall they provided quality cleaning and restoration services, were flexible to work with, and did not seem like they were out to get my money. I hope I'll never need them again, but I can recommend them for anyone who needs fire restoration services. Thank you Charlie, Miguel, Brandon, Billy, Batt/Edgar, and Christoph.

I initially called another company and received a quote, but a friend of mine recommended AFR, so I decided to give them a call as well. I'll be honest -- I'm pretty skeptical these days because customer service in general has become pretty lackluster. That said, I can confidently say the customer service from AFR was excellent from start to finish. One thing I appreciated immediately was their willingness to work with me after finding out my USAA homeowners insurance would not be covering the damages. Since I was paying out of pocket, that mattered a lot to me, and they treated me fairly throughout the process. That was the first sign to me that this was probably going to be a good company to work with. Once the quotes came in, what really made AFR stand out compared to the competitor was the thoroughness and detail in their estimate and scope of work. I'm admittedly pretty OCD and detail-oriented, so I appreciated how clearly everything was broken down and explained. After speaking with Karen, we moved forward and scheduled the work. Anthony, who I would consider the lead on the project, was excellent throughout the entire process. His communication skills and responsiveness to texts and questions were outstanding. He showed up every day without fail and always maintained a professional attitude. When the crew arrived, Xavier and Sergei handled the demolition and mitigation work. The first thing I noticed was how well they prepped and protected the area before starting. Honestly, it was above and beyond what I expected. Any concerns or considerations I had were immediately addressed without complaint, although the reality is I barely had to say anything because their preparation and professionalism spoke for themselves. Since I had concerns about mold and mitigation, I paid very close attention to the process, and I was genuinely impressed with the level of care and diligence they showed. They documented everything thoroughly with photos and videos, kept the area extremely clean, and were meticulous with the work being performed. Anthony also consistently checked in throughout the project to make sure everything was progressing properly. Toward the end of the process, Jose handled the reconstruction work, including drywall, fiberglass, mudding, and texturing. He also did an excellent job, and the finished product came out great. Overall, I'm extremely impressed with AFR from top to bottom. Good customer service is hard to find nowadays, and this company exceeded my expectations. Hopefully I never need to call them again because that would mean I have another leak -- but if I ever do, I would not hesitate for a second to use AFR again. Thank you AFR, Anthony, Xavier, Sergei and Jose for a job well done.

Not only did AFR beat the other company on price, but they gave me a fully broken down estimate that showed me what each part of the project would cost, including overhead, which the other company would not do. I appreciated the transparency they exhibited both before and during the process and could not be happier with the outcome. Beside the finished product, the people that worked on the project were equally outstanding. First, Karen answering the phone is awesome! You have no idea what a great first impression the person answering the phone can make, and Karen is clearly one of the best. I don't know what her title is within the company, but whatever it is, Karen absolutely created the environment that made me want to work with AFR. During my design appointment, J. Johnson (the President and Chief Designer) and Jake (Master Carpenter) came out to look at the space and the materials that I had purchased. They assured me they had everything they needed to get me an accurate estimate and proposal. As I indicated before, the estimate was thorough and answered all my questions and concerns. There were no surprises at the end of the project with no cost overruns. I could not have asked for better. On construction day, Jake, Caleb, and Thai showed up on time and ready to work. I was very impressed with how quickly they got the cabinets installed in a relatively small space, along with all the trim and cabinet pulls. They cleaned up throughout the process and my house looked great afterwards. I worked with Manny (who was awesome) to build them template for the countertops, and to select the counter material sink and faucet. Not long after, Manny showed up with Roberto and Abel to get the countertops installed and the plumbing connected. During this installation, Louie Roman, the General Manager, showed up to check on progress and to make sure I was satisfied with the work. I had Manny come back out to work on the sink as it was manufactured with a sharp edge, and Caleb came out to do some touchup painting on the cabinets once I got paint from the manufacturer. On other projects, I have had people come out to do a touch and they do crappy work because they have already been paid. Not Caleb! He spent the time necessary to insure the job was completed properly. A couple of spots on the walls were repaired and repainted along with any small issues with the cabinets themselves. Truly an outstanding job from start to finish. Bottom line: AFR was outstanding to work with and I cannot thank them enough for the excellent work they did on my laundry room.

Then the thought of reselling my home and having this damage left unfixed would be a big loss. It was a headache! Thankfully, this group came to my rescue. They came as soon as I called. I spoke to Rich and he answered all my questions even silly ones because geez I just know so much about water damage, mold, dry wall, and home insurance. That same day they tore some portion of the walls and brought equipments in to dry the walls from inside and out. The process took about 3 days. They came everyday to check on the progress and to make changes depending on the how dry the walls are. They use some fancy gadgets, yeah I asked about that too some kind of thermo thing is pretty cool it checks the walls on how cold or moist the area is. They really take their time making sure they cover everything. The process only took about 3 days just in time for Christmas Eve. The equipments were a bit loud, like I was in a wind tunnel. But that was expected since there were about 10 or so fans around the house blowing air. Nevertheless, I was very happy with the results. I also didn't have to worry about the payment process since they worked with my insurance. Rich also gave me a report of the water damage and document I may need for when I try to resell the home. I liked that I can easily reach out to the company and answer all my questions. They were very knowledgeable about their work and I was reassured that having them work on my home was a great choice. I would highly recommend this company. I would hire them again but my God knows I don't want to go through mess all over again!!!
