Agreed to provide a certain type of basement window for me, took over 2 months to schedule install, then tried to get me to pay the window vendor COD for a different window than we had agreed on. I refused, and now Peter wants to keep my money. There is a character limit here so I will try to shorten this story. Peter Calandrino, Owner of "All Island Windows & Siding", and Partner of "Long Island Windows and Siding" is refusing to refund my $2,000 deposit after trying to install a different type of window than we had discussed. Pete did window and siding work on my home years ago. I reached out August 18th 2025 and sent him photos of the basement windows I wanted to now replace. He agreed that the windows, and wood surrounds would need to be replaced. I was clear, and adamant that I wanted the same style of window that I currently had, which was a hopper style window which opened into the home from the bottom of the window. He came to my home on August 21st 2025 to review the job, at which time I again reiterated that I wanted the same style of window I currently had which would open from the bottom. We wrote up the contract and I gave him a $1,500 cash deposit. Four days later he called me stating that he was working on another big project which had utilized most of his credit line with the manufacturer, and that he needed an additional $500 from me. Unfortunately because of our relationship and knowing he had done a much larger project for me in the past, I trusted Pete and agreed to give him the money. After much back and forth trying to get scheduled, and Peter assuring me he has my windows but the weather wasn't good, we set the job up to be completed on Thursday November 6th 2025 between 8am and 9am, and that the job would be done that same day. The day came and at 7:20am a truck from "Florence Building Materials" comes and the driver says he has a window delivery for me and that they were purchased with an agreement for COD (cash on delivery). This is not what Peter and I had discussed so I called him and he claimed that his guy Joe was supposed to give them a check, but because Joe was running late, that I should pay them and he would take it off the amount I owed him upon job completion. I told him this was not acceptable and not what we agreed to and I did not want to pay any more money until the the job was completed. He became hostile and reminded me that we have worked together before in the past and that he "wasn't trying to screw me" and said that if I didn't pay them the company wouldn't leave the windows and he wouldn't be able to do my job. After waiting for 2 months when I was promised a one month turnaround time, I felt I had no choice. I decided to look at the windows before making payment, and saw that these windows opened from the top, and not the bottom like we had agreed upon. I called Peter and he immediately told me that they don't make a window that opens from the bottom because it would leak. I reminded him that my current windows open from the bottom, and we had specifically discussed that the replacement windows would open the same way 2 months prior. He became argumentative with me and condescending over the phone, trying to force me to install these windows which were not what I had wanted. I told Peter that I wanted to cancel the job and get my money back. He agreed to refund my $2,000 in deposits and said he would call me the following week. Now today I call Peter to get my refund and he states he will not refund my money at all. He lies about Florence Building Materials keeping his deposit. I informed him that I had already spoken directly with Florence and that I was aware he had not given them a deposit at all! I begged him to give back my $2,000 as I did not want to have to take him to small claims court but he told me "see you in court, you'll lose" and ended the call.

With that said i met Carlos Castro after another masonry company backed out of the work at my house .I reached out to a friend for a referral and he gave me Carlos's cell phone number and website Once i saw the website i thought no way is this company coming to my house to install an 800 sq feet patio and walkway. His work on his website is very telling about Carlos and his company. His worked is based in the Hamptons mostly. Need i say more. I decided to reach out to Carlos and he showed up at my house on time and dressed in a professional manner. I told him of my thoughts on my walkway and patio and he spoke with me in detail about the work and made me feel very comfortable. I asked Carlos about some ideas I had and we went thru each one. He measured and took his time like this was big job. I was impressed right then. I received a very reasonable quote a few days later in a PDF format in my email. Once i looked t the price i knew i would be using Castro Stoneworks. His prices were on par with the big companies. Carlos told me when he could start the job and its completion. In the mean time he sent me to all County Block to check out the stone color i wanted because Carlos told me its better to see the stone in person .He was right big difference. I settled on Toffee Onyx Lite. The day came for the work and Carlos and his crew were at the house at 7:30 AM. I was greeted by all the workers with a "Good Morning". That was just the start. Carlos walked with me thru the project. He stayed and answered all my questions. One of the best parts of the job was his brother Roy who was the foreman of the crew. He answered my questions s he worked. Roy and his crew installed pop up drains on my walkway that are connected to my gutters so rain would not interfere with the brick. The crew also installed a pipe under my walkway to a small island in front of the house. This is to be used for future lighting or Irrigation. What a great idea. Carlos did all this without extra charge. Carlos was at my house for the five mornings the crew worked on the house. The crew worked from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM for all the days they were at my house. Carlos ordered the brick and the border from All County Block and it was there on time the first day. when the crew was ready for the concrete again it was there on time with no delays. I cant tell you how important that is to me to have work constantly being done and supplies being on time. The job was completed in the five days he said it would be. I could not be happier with the work, the crew and Carlos himself. If you are doing any type of masonry you have to give Castro Stoneworks a call. Carlos and his crew are very experienced in all phases of brick work. Carlos is a very humble person and easy to speak with. He has multiple crews working different jobs so your work will get done sooner than later. His crew and his brother Roy were extremely pleasant to speak with and did a wonderful job for me. I could not ask for anything more.The compliments i have received on the patio and walkway are so positive. One happy customer. This company offers affordable prices for installing new fences. I had a 6ft PVC fence installed as…read morewell as two gates on each side of the house. Once we agreed, they installed within days. Took 2 days to complete since they brought the wrong gates the first day. Fast forward, I continued to lose the fence caps since they failed to glue them down. It took weeks of attempts to get in contact with the company. One of the gate latches dented as well. Company did come and fix latch, left it scratched but did fix it.... As for the caps they replaced the missing ones and claimed they glued them down. Additionally, the job was completed 2 months ago and I still don't have a documented receipt of the work done. The company fails to communicate and send over that information which is vital for a homeowner/customer. This is exhausting having the stress of having to contact the company with no response. Makes me question the company's work ethic.
